Collared today: Nittany

NAME:  Nittany.

OWNER: Peter.

HOW THEY MET: Found little guy in alley behind my home after he was dumped there in July 2007.

AGE: 2.

HOME
: Baltimore.

BREED: American Shorthair.

BEST TRICK: Brings toy mice to bedroom every morning as offering to his owner.

FAVORITE ACTIVITY: Chasing laser pointer and bouncing all over the house. Very energetic little guy.

FAVORITE FOOD: Friskies’ hard treats

FUNNIEST MOMENT: Got out of the house during a rainy spring morning and no one noticed for an hour. Found him curled up on a row house about four doors down in front of a screen door that had an “N” on it. Guess he thought it was his home for Nittany.

HE'S A PEOPLE CAT:  Not a big fan of visiting cats but exceptionally friendly to visiting humans.

IF NITTANY HAD A MOTTO FOR LIFE, IT WOULD BE: “Curiosity may kill the cat, but I am going to check it out anyway.”

Nice to see my boy made the news. What a wonderful little animal he is.

And shame on the person who dumped him to begin with.

I personally know this very special kitty and am happy that I do. A word to describe Nittany is "bouncy." :)

what big and pretty eyes!

Nittany looks like a cutie and a half!

Nittany is a beautiful feline and a lucky one to have been found by such a nice guy too!

About Jill Rosen
Jill Rosen is a reporter at The Baltimore Sun. During her nearly 20 years in journalism, she has covered news and features — including a surprising number of stories that involved animals. There were the dog Christmas carolers in State College, Pa. There were the hounds who toured with a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The story of a preschool teacher at Baltimore’s Father Kolbe School who had to replace her class guinea pig, who died over the winter holiday. A harrowing tale of what it was like to make homemade pet food ...

Though her clean freak of a mother refused to allow her to get a dog, she has had a number of pets through the years, including goldfish named Bob and Fingle, a betta fish named Ichabod, a wild rat terrier named Wendel, who she shared with a roommate, and, currently, sweet, sweet kitties named Leo Sesame and Milo Pumpkin and a little rescued pup named Teddy Bean. She, Leo, Pumpkin and Teddy Bean live in Baltimore.
