Ellicott City top place to live for pet people?
U.S. News & World Report thinks that of all the places in the country, Ellicott City is one of the best for pet lovers.
The magazine honored the Howard County spot in a recent issue, saying it's "an easy drive from Baltimore's animal shelters and also offers more than 100 square miles of green space within 15 miles of the city."
County Executive Ken Ulman didn't miss the chance to boast.
“Lately I’d been hearing other good things from both Fishy and Bait, the pets who live at my house," he wrote in a news release. " Fishy and Bait are Beta fish who seem to be thriving, thanks to the tender loving care of my daughters Maddie and Lily. I guess it was only a matter of time until U.S. News & World Report caught on (pun fully intended) to the fine life pets and their owners are enjoying in Howard County.”
So what do you think, pet people? Is Ellicott City really the best around here for dogs, cats, goldfish? Or are there some other spots that are more worthy? Basing this designation mainly on average weather and amount of green space seems a bit off. What about dog parks? And pet laws? No?

And what about affordable veterinary care, low cost spay neuter services and strong enforcement of laws intended to protect animals from abuse and accidental injury. Since I keep my cats indoors, they aren't affected by green space and very little by climate.
