There's now a Snuggie for DOGS!

You know the dog has been jealous of your Snuggie. You, sitting there on the sofa, all cuddled up in that arm-holed wonder. Him, wound up, Snuggless, in a regular blanket, trying fruitlessly to work the remote. Who among us hasn't been there?

Well, the makers of Snuggie, the blanket for people who can't work a regular blanket, have solved that problem. They're unveiling The Dog Snuggie.

According to the company, more than five million Americans bought into the Snuggie lifestyle.

"With an estimated 74 million family dogs in the United States, it only made sense to keep those almost 300 million chilly paws warm this season," said Anne Flynn, Director of Marketing for Allstar Products Group.

The dog blankets are available in blue and pink and in a range of sizes to fit the smallest and biggest of canines.

They'll be available at stores including PetSmart, Petco and CVS, starting in August.

For $9.99, who can so no to a Snuggie -- for the dog.

hahahahahaha, that is too much.

that is hysterical. yet i must have one for my dogs.
i also think you should add this your must have list for a new dog home!

You are hilarious.

I won't lie. I won't even blame my wife. I'm definitely getting one for my dog.

Hello, don't your doggies need this? Hahaha!!
Hugs,
Dolores

Too funny!! i watched the commercial and couldn't stop giggling!! all though, i do feel a bit bad for the little doggie whos owner can't seem to figure out how to put a regular sweater on.

Our pitbull would give us her "Are you INSANE?" look, then paw the Snuggie into a comfortable nest. No pseudo-clothes for her, thanks!

wow!?!? get real

wow!?!? get real dont you think its a bit X-treme a snuggie?? haha lol, you guys crack me up!

When's the kitten snuggie being released?

WHAT???????? From "the makers of Snuggie, the blanket for people who can't work a regular blanket"... what's to WORK???? How absolutely simple-minded and LAZY have we become when we can't even put a blanket on ourselves, let alone feel the need to purchase a similar life-saving device from the vicious cold of winter for our beloved pets. Surely the money we spend on items like this could be better spent elsewhere... ANYWHERE else! No wonder this country has become the laughingstock of the world.

This is truely one of the great products in recorded history. All hail the mighty Snuggie!

I do not own a snuggie for myself, but I would love to buy one for my dog so she will stop pulling the blanket off of me so she can be warm. It will also prevent the distraction of a cold wet beagle nose when snuggled up watching tv.

How many people do you think wear matching snuggies along with their dogs now!

I HAVE ALREADY ORDER MY FUR CHILD ONE AND THE FREE ONE I AM GIVING TO HER FRIEND. I TREAT MY DOG THE WAY I WOULD WANT TO BE LOVED. IT'S ON BACKORDER, SO THAT SAYS ALOT, WE LOVE OUR PETS!!

I have to admit I purchased one of these for my geriatric Chihuahua. She hates to have sweaters pulled over her head, and it's scary to manipulate her tiny, fragile little lets into sweater sleeves. This Snuggie is perfect for her. No more shivering, no more contortions, we both love it!

Do they have these for guinea pigs?

About Jill Rosen
Jill Rosen is a reporter at The Baltimore Sun. During her nearly 20 years in journalism, she has covered news and features — including a surprising number of stories that involved animals. There were the dog Christmas carolers in State College, Pa. There were the hounds who toured with a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The story of a preschool teacher at Baltimore’s Father Kolbe School who had to replace her class guinea pig, who died over the winter holiday. A harrowing tale of what it was like to make homemade pet food ...

Though her clean freak of a mother refused to allow her to get a dog, she has had a number of pets through the years, including goldfish named Bob and Fingle, a betta fish named Ichabod, a wild rat terrier named Wendel, who she shared with a roommate, and, currently, sweet, sweet kitties named Leo Sesame and Milo Pumpkin and a little rescued pup named Teddy Bean. She, Leo, Pumpkin and Teddy Bean live in Baltimore.
