And the winner is ...
It's Jean Bosley, whose correct answers to our reader quiz were the first to hit our comments section.
For her speedy and 100 percent accurate efforts, Jean has been sent a brand new FURminator at absolutely no charge.
Shipping and handling on the order is $583, which I'm not sure I mentioned to her.
Just kidding.
Jean, when informed of her victory, showed the requisite excitement, or at least so it seemed from the number of exclamation points in her email: "I am so excited!!! My two dogs were adopted from MD SPCA (Lady) and the Harford County Humane Society (Joey) so they are VERY worthy.
"I'll send you pictures of us (attempting to) use it!"
Thanks to Jean, and her very worthy dogs Joey and Lady, and everyone who entered, and their very worthy dogs.

Congrats Jean.
I have one.
They`re great.
You`ll be able to make a couple of new dogs out of all the hair that will come out of your 2 dogs.
It`s amazing!
If the Company wants to send me one for my cat I can gush even more.
Warning
Don`t use the large one on your cat.
The bald spot is filling in but my cat did not appreciate my unbridled enthusiasm when I first got this product and saw how well it worked on my large dog.
Apparently there are different sizes.

Okay, fine, I might have overdone it with the exclamation points but I really was excited. (Note the nice, quiet period.) I received it yesterday and have already used it on Lady who has typical shephard hair. This thing is awesome. I cannot believe the amount of hair that came off. Even on the short-haired lab it got a good bit. Next spring we're going to try it on the horses, too. Thanks!!!! (Couldn't contain myself.)

Jean! Glad it arrived safely. They make a FUR-minator especially for horses, too! And I'm not making fun of your exclamation points. I'd never do that!!! After getting a FUR-minator, the next step is figuring out what to do with the gobs of hair. One windy day a few weeks ago a woman a half block away was using one on her dog on her rooftop deck. Guess where the hair blew? Ptooey! Of course you can bag it and throw it away, but it would be nice to find some environmentally friendly use for it. I think birds like to use it for nests, but they only take a little. I did an entry a while back about a couple that makes sweaters out of it. But it sounds like a good reader challenge: Any suggestions out there?
