Puppy Bowl IV: No Giants, No Patriots, just dogs

Animal Planet will be presenting Puppy Bowl IV this weekend -- three full hours of pup-filled action (except for the kitty half-time show) that will air just hours before the Super Bowl starts on Sunday.

The puppies featured in Puppy Bowl are from shelters, and the show contains information on how viewers can adopt rescued puppies and help their local shelter. It airs from 3 to 6 p.m.

The first Puppy Bowl was shown in 2005, and Puppy Bowl II (in three airings) drew 5 million viewers, the Animal Planet network says.

Puppy Bowl IV won't have near the media hype of Super Bowl XLII -- or a halftime show featuring Tom Petty -- but it will be the first Puppy Bowl broadcast in high-definition. Here's a taste of what it's all about, from the introduction to last year's Puppy Bowl III.

This years Puppy Bowl IV will be the best EVER!!
It's in HD ( Hound Definition) and will give you a clearer view of all the player's "Ruffing" it up.

Don't forget to vote for the MVP ( Most Valuable Puppy) after the game!!
I'm voting for Abigail!!

I love the bowl-cam shots. In HD I am sure they will be even better, and the instant replay and the kitties! Who need football?

i LOVE puppy bowl more than the real game! and the half time kitties show beats cheerleaders anytime! I wish I could give all of those little pups big kisses!!!

In honor of Michael Vick, I will be boycotting the Superbowl. I will be enjoying Puppy Bowl instead. Yeah, yeah...I know he's in jail, and his team isn't even playing....but the truth is...I just really don't like football and dogs (especially puppies) are much more fun to watch.

Or, as I like to call it, "Puppy Bowl Sunday!"

Nice to see that the Discovery Communications employees are spamming away today.

LOL, Mark, you should have seen the big tough guys at our house when we switched over to Puppy Bowl during a boring moment in the Super Bowl last year -- at first they groaned but then they didn't want to switch back -- Puppy Bowl rules!
