Michael Vick's dogs: Where are they now?
Three of the 47 remaining American Pit Bull Terriers in the Michael Vick civil forfeiture are alive, well and living in Baltimore.
The dogs were taken in by Recycled Love, a rescue organization operated by Baltimore's Sallyann Jennings.
Recycled Love is one of eight organizations that a federal judge approved to receive the dogs.
Many are expected to be eligible for future adoption by the public.
The other seven organizations where Vick's pit bulls have been placed, according to WXIA-TV in Atlanta are:
Best Friends Animal Society, Kanab, Utah (22 dogs); BAD RAP, Oakland, Calif. (10 dogs);
Richmond Animal League, Richmond, VA (4 dogs); Georgia S.P.C.A. Suwanee, GA.; (3 dogs);
SPCA of Monterey County, CALIF.; (3 dogs); Animal Rescue of Tidewater, Chesapeake, Va..; (1 dog); and Our Pack, Inc. (1 dog).

I'm sure we'll be hearing more about these dogs. Badrap has promoted these animals as safe family pets. I wonder how long until they rip some kid's face off?

Well David, as long as parents are WATCHING THEIR CHILDREN around ANY type of dog, then no one's face will get ripped off will it?

LOL..."David O" should have spent a little time on BadRap.org before posting something so ignorant of the breed standard. He would have known Pit Bulls were called "Nanny Dogs" at the turn of the Century due to their love of children. Just wait until the gag order is lifted! Then you'll see the true nature of these abuse VICTIMS.

One of my best dogs was a rescued, very much abused young fighting pit bull. After quite a bit of socialization and training, she was never aggressive to other dogs or cats, In fact, she slept in her chair with 3 cats every night . I've never seen a dog that loved her kitties as much. In obediance class she did very well. she mothered baby kitties took long walks with my Jack Russell with 3 or more cats. When a burgler tried to break into my storage area in the yard, she grabbed his jeans and ripped the seat out of his pants, stayed in the yard and did not pursue kid running down the street with no pants!! When word got out, I never had any more crime problems. I felt pretty safe answering alarms at night and patrolling with my partner.With the right owner, these dogs cat be excelllent canine citizens, with the wrong, a disaster.

In response to David O, what you say won't happen if the dogs get in the hands of RESPONSIBLE owners which Michal Vick WASN'T! There are thousands of pit bulls who are loving family pets. I have two of them. According to Cesar Milan, most dogs can be rehabilitated from the abuse and neglect that they have received in the past. It's disturbeding to see how the media has programmed you to make comments like this. Any person who is educated about pit bulls knows that it's not the breed that is the problem, but it's the irresponsible owners.

David, did you know that Helen Keller was a Pit Bull fancier and owner?
I think if you add up the number of dogs taken out of Michael Vick's property, and the number placed with the various rescue groups, you'll find that the two numbers don't tally. I suspect that these dogs were carefully evaluated before being sent to the rescue groups for placement, and that some may not have made it. Hopefully those that didn't will be able to live out their lives in some kind of supervised, comfortable situation.
I don't doubt for a minute that the rescue groups selected will be very careful in evaluating potential adoption placements for the dogs entrusted to them. With strong, responsible owners, these dogs have a chance to live and thrive, and they'll be no more dangerous than any other dog. It's irresponsible, undisciplined owners, or people who want to own a Pit Bull to prove something, that endanger children--and the rest of the community.
Incidentally, no youngster should be left unattended with any dog--no matter how gentle the breed or how reliable its reputation. Children and dogs need to be carefully monitored until a good relationship is established and until the children are old enough to behave responsibly around the dog. By the same token, no dog should be left unattended in an area where children can approach it too closely.
