Paper or plastic? Neither!
“I’m here to help you save money (and the planet) for all steps of the shopping process,” proclaims local crafter Glow Girl. Her collection of functional and eco-friendly carry-alls includes tote bags, coupon organizers and sandwich snack baggies - all made from eco-friendly, vintage and/or upcycled fabrics. I’ve never been one to organize my coupons (or my snacks) but if I had a beautifully crafted baggie with an easy-to-use Velcro closure, I would most certainly try. Glow Girls’ carry-alls are affordable, adorable, water resistant and machine washable. Brilliant!

Grocerants are utilizing cloth bags that can be washed. In fact most Grocery stores, and restaurants are now looking into cloth bags for to-go or take-away foods.

I'm so happy more and more creative people are finding ways to promote being green. I fear sometimes, though, that shoppers--even with the best of intentions--will start buying every cute tote bag they see, forgetting how much more enery goes into a sturdy, reusable bag. Of course, the tote bag purchase is well worth it if it is used all the time, but people have to be careful not to give in to every "GO GREEN BY BUYING THIS BAG" campaign they see. (Same goes for reusable water bottles/mugs.) The bottom line of sustainability is consuming less...even when the product is a self-proclaimed green one. Old dirty tote bags from years ago are, in fact, as green--or most likely greener--than the stylish save-the-earth-bags we see everywhere today.
That said, Glow Girl's philosophy is great. And, since people will never cease to consume, why not give them greener alternatives, at least?

Am glad to help in any way with "green thinking". I like GlowGirl's philosophy...and her grocery bags. Sturdy, good looking and no advertising for someone else on them! I use them for groceries all the time and find them easy for me to carry, especially since I am not a "kid".

I have mention Glowgirl's fabric sandwich baggies are also a superb way to cut down on all those plastic sandwich baggies that get used and tossed every day. They're easy to wipe clean and they dry in no time, ready for your next day's lunch.

The sandwich bag idea is great, that totally cuts down on all those one-time-use ziplocs! Now Glowgirl has to come out with canteens to keep up with places like Simply Green Solutions - but gotta hand it to ya Etsy gal, your designs are amazing.
