Weekend garden chores

The work of a gardener is never done.

My DH (dear husband in Twitter-speak) used his day off to blow all the leaves out of my beds. Next step? He will run them over with a lawn mower and bag them for me.

Then I will put them BACK on the beds.

Is that love, or what?

Did I say the work of a gardener is never done? Apparently, the work of a gardener's DH is never done, either.

Far be it for me to add more work for your DH but if he included some lawn clippings with the carbon rich shredded leaves it would add some valuable nitrogen to your mulch.
Please send apologies to your DH but the effort is worth it.

LOL.There will be SOME lawn clippings in this, but at this time of year, not too much!--Susan

My chores include bringing in the last of the ceramic pots before they freeze and break.

Absolultely. Me. too! -- Susan

About Susan Reimer
Susan Reimer has spent 16 years writing about raising kids - among other topics - in her column for The Baltimore Sun. And every time son Joseph or daughter Jessie passed another milestone - driver's license, college, wedding or a move to a new military duty station - she has planted another garden. Now she will be writing about those gardens - and yours - here on Garden Variety.

Susan isn't an expert gardener, but she wasn't an expert mother, either. Both - the kids and the gardens - seem to be doing well in spite of her.

She lives in Annapolis with her husband, Gary Mihoces, who loves to cut his grass but has noticed that there seems to be less of it every time the kids pass another milestone.
