Not many folks these days know about this. However, as more people become more environmentally responsible, methods like this are replacing chemicals and synthetic fabrics.
For some, it's hard to imagine that a few layers of newspaper will help stop weeds as well as add substance to the soil. But it does work surprisingly well.
From a professional standpoint, it's not a practical or realistic solution. However, for the home gardener and do it yourself landscaper willing to replenish it every year, it can be a practical and economical alternative to other methods.

100% wonderful method to control weeds or to rid one's yard of lawncare in order to plant groundcover. Using cardboard or plastic cover works as well.
