Last-minute Valentine ideas?
Sorry I've been absent the past few days. I've been huddled under my covers, battling the cold from hell. At least that's what the doctors are calling it. But anyhoo, onward and upward.
It's the day before Valentine's and you aren't prepared. All the cards are picked over in the stationery stores and drug stores, and the florists just laughed in your face when you asked about getting a bouquet for under $20 on the day before V-Day.
Well, never fear. Here are a few last-minute ideas for Valentine's Day:

A few years ago, Geoff over at deconcept made the famous "I Choo-Choo-Choose You" and "Lets Bee Friends" cards on Illustrator and offered them for download on his blog. They're still available.
They're great for friends and for significant others with a sense of humor and/or love for The Simpsons. Besides, as a deconcept commenter says, if you give this to someone and they don't get it, you shouldn't associate with them.
Mine opened fine in preview on Mac; they should also be able to be opened in Adobe Acrobat too.
(These Star Wars cards are funny, too -- though they didn't seem downloadable.)
Forget the flowers; they will die in a few days. Don't try to make a reservation at a restaurant; they will be packed. Any restaurant worth its salt will be overbooked. Make dinner instead.
Need some inspiration? Allrecipes has some suggestions for Valentine's Day menus, as does every other food site in the world. (Including, last but certainly not least, The Sun. But you already saw that one, right? Right?)
Buy a box of chocolates. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, make these truffles. They're easier to make than you would think. And you'll get brownie points for your efforts.Whatever you do, DO NOT give out those cheesy handmade coupons (i.e. This coupon is good for one back rub; This coupon is good for one house-cleaning, etc.). Children are the only ones who get a free pass on those stinkers.

Dinner and desserts are not just for the coupled-up either -- gather up your single and committed friends and have a mixed party, like one of my friends throws nearly every year.
Need some anti-V-Day threads? Threadbanger offers some stencils for some appropriate T-shirt art, like the one to the right. (Thanks, dancing monkey.)
Whatever you do, have fun. If all goes as planned, I will be spending my day in traffic court over a speeding ticket. Nothing says love for mankind like the judicial process, right? :)
