Who gets up first

when the baby is crying at night?

The answer: Moms are more than twice as likely to get up at night than dads, according to a study in the journal Social Forces.

When I was breastfeeding, I mainly took on the night shift. But now, my husband is much quicker in getting up at night.

What about you?

Same here. I breastfed Edwin for a year, and I never woke my husband for any of the night feedings during that time. But now, my husband is the one who get up if there is any nighttime issue. He will also get up early with Edwin and let me sleep on weekends. I guess he figures that I lost my share of sleep during that first year, and now it's his turn!

My husband and I still laugh over our first experience as parents. My husband is a very light sleeper and he woke up one night irritated because his sleep was disturbed by a crying baby. He was thinking, "Whose baby is that? Why don't they do someth--OH!"

During the 9 months that I was nursing, obviously I was always on night-duty. But now, I think my husband deserves top-billing. I get up if its just "early" like 6am. He gets up for the "ungodly early" shift, like when our son decides he MUST play with his toys from 3am to 5am. My husband operates better than I do with little sleep. Lucky me!
