Baby sling recall
On the heels of a safety alert for baby slings, which warned that slings should not be used for a child younger than four months old regardless of the brand, the government has now issued a recall of 1 million baby slings by the maker Infantino. The Consuming Interests blog has details on what to do if you have one of the slings.

I'm so glad these unsafe slings will be off the market! There are safer options. Please read this blog post for the differences between a bag sling like the SlingRider and a ring sling. http://www.nurturebabynaturally.com/2010/03/what-is-bag-sling.html

Its quite the shame that youve got to carry the little ones about as is. I mean if we people is so smart why have we got such useless babies as you know monkey babies seem quite right from the get go. Thats a good question isnt it as maybe if we let them bake a bit more they might just hop right out of there and not be such a bother with prams and indian slings and whatnot.

Very sad that 3 infants have already died from this. Wish I knew more about what exactly happened and if the carriers were being used correctly. I feel really bad for the parents. Baby slings are supposed to be good for babies, lowering their blood pressure, keeping them calm and bonding them with their parents. But these slings may be dangerous.

I feel terrible for these parents! I think however that these babies were incorrectly in the sling. Infantino should probably put out an instructions manual to show how to use them. Also these slings are not the best out there. The ones made with the sling rings are much more sturdy and easily worn so that the babies have a lot of breathing space and they are sturdy enough to hold 300 pounds! i hope this gets resolved.
Most baby carrier products come with precise instructions, as well as
an 800 support number if mothers/fathers have any questions. If worn
correctly, 99% of the baby carriers, slings and wraps on the market
are completely safe to use.

Not all slings are created equal. It is CRUCIAL you position baby correctly. The whole point in babywearing is to keep baby close, secure, and most of all SAFE! I took one look at those bag slings and knew they were unsafe. Just look how low baby sits in it!
