Babies on skates -- and investing

The search term "babies on skates" is tearing it up on Google Trends right now as a result of this might-be-amusing, might-seem-creepy ad:

I must say I found myself laughing at the computer-generated skater tots, just as I crack up at the E*trade commercials with this jaded "baby":

Why it's funny to me, I don't know. I'm in no hurry for babies to grow up; since mine are now 6 and 8, I'm already missing their infant selves.

i LOVE the etrade baby. especially in the commercial where his friend starts belting out "take these broken wings."

The e-Trade commercials are the best--the best...the "..and I'm, like, I'm renting a clown" one and the "why don't you try reading the rules, shankapotamus" one, too.

The Evian one would get my attention a couple of times, but it wouldn't be shhhhh-worthy like the e-Trade ones have been.

I'm with you, Kate. I don't know why these ads crack me up but they do. And that eTrade kid and his "shankapotomus" line gets me every time.

Are the ETRADE baby commercials funny? Why is it entertaining to superimpose adult lips on a baby or make them moonwalk or break dance? I think it's kind of bizarre and creepy actually.

I think the only people who enjoy these weird baby commercials are those types of women who go into gaga hysterics everytime they see a baby doing ANYTHING. OMG!!! It's a BABY! And he's talking like an ADULT! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Get a life ladies...

This is funny? People who think fake babies dancing and doing tricks(honestly don't the babies look like they are high?), probably think that Carlos Mencia is funny.

I think that adult words coming from babies looks kind of stupid. Kids dont have to be in a hurry to grow up and we shouldnt appear as though we are helping them. However, people are often amused at kids and what they do, and kids can make for a great picture. I often take pictures of kids, although not in a situation where they are acting like adults, more likely when they are acting like kids. Mary Cassatt made a career out of painting kids and moms. The big difference between her work and the commercials is that her main focus wasnt to make money. Thanks.
