Jonas Brothers and monster trucks

Here's Liz Atwood with Tween Tuesday:

Jonaas BrothersSometimes I’m glad I have boys. Yeah, I have to put up with the roughhousing, but I was spared this weekend from Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience. Yes, even though I have boys, I know who the Jonas Brothers are. I got stuck in a terrible traffic jam last August when thousands of their teenage fans descended on the First Mariner Arena to swoon over Nick, Kevin and Joe. Thank goodness my sons didn’t drag me to the movie that one critic called “a curious mixture of shameless pandering” and another “a devotional object, a kind of secular fetish designed to induce rapture.”

I know moms of some of the girls were not so lucky. While they were enduring the screaming of tween girls, I was spending Sunday afternoon with my sons watching monster trucks smash cars and belch exhaust fumes in the First Mariner Arena (funny how the arena plays into these events).

Did you go see the movie? What did you think? Even if you don’t like the Jonas Brothers’ music, I bet you didn’t have to wear earplugs like I did when I was watching the trucks.

I believe that what you are saying is extremely sexists. Not all guys feel the need to belch or watch larger trucks run over smaller trucks. I am a fifteen year old guy and like JB. The movie was amazing in my opinion. Any movie that I have EVER seen that a critic gave a good review on sucked. They are clearly not there to give helpful reviews, any reviews that I were seeing were bashing them and nothing more. They sounded great, the movies was extremely realistic. I am definitely going to go see a concert this summer on their world tour. JB's fame is far from over.

Here is where being extremely cheap benefits me - I never would have dreamed of paying for either experience.

Remember - frugal: it's the new chic..

I went to the Jonas movie and really enjoyed myself, as did my daughter and her friend (and my husband). Yes, there were some screaming girls there but they were all having fun, and the movie was a high energy, toe-tapping experience. I have decided with teens that it is helpful to develop some interest in their interests, to keep communication going. So, I watch Lost with my son and keep up with the Jonai with my daughter. And both forms of entertainment have made my life more interesting.

I'm so tired of seeing the Jonas Brothers dissed on any sight I look at. I'm a 38 (yes I said 38) year old Mom with a 10 year old daughter and 8 and 5 year old sons. They all like the Jonas Brothers as do I. I saw the 3D show with them and even saw it by myself. We intend to see it again on Spring Break. I love the examples these boys have set and am so tired of seeing them criticized for their values, etc. I thoroughly enjoy their music and am proud to say so being a former and still fan of 80's hard rock, etc. I see a much better example being set by the Jonas Brothers than any of the bands I liked in the past. Keep it up boys!! I'm waiting for the summer tour!

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
