David Letterman marries longtime girlfriend
David Letterman revealed on his show last night that he has married his longtime girlfriend, Regina Lasko. They've been dating since 1986 and have a 5-year-old son.
Here's an excerpt from the Associated Press story: "After avoiding marriage for more than two decades, Letterman said, 'I secretly felt that men who were married admired me ... like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I'm saying?' "
OK, maybe, but what about when a child is involved? What do you all think?

Most of the people I know personally who got married just because there was a child involved ended up divorced. However, when you've lived with a woman for decades, you're as good as married anyway. What's the point of avoiding it?

I resented that comment about married men admiring him for staying single. After he said it, the camera showed the band. Three or so of the guys were raising their hands. It all seemed like such a throwback to a time when there were fewer choices and more social dictates.

OK - So he finally married the woman he has been living with for decades - no gold stars from me. In fact the praise goes to the woman who put up with him for so long. Here's hoping she's a lot smarter then we all think and that there was more to their living arrangement that either one of them was willing to reveal.

I watch Letterman almost every night - It always bothered me that he had a son and was not married to the mother.
I think David did the honorable thing by marring his girlfriend and mother of his son.
This is a good example for young people.

Wow...why do we tend to think it was Letterman who was dragging his heels?!?!?
Excellent point! Though his quote tends to indicate he wasn't in a hurry...

The only sure way to avoid divorce is to not get married.
