D.C. area day tripping

Goddard Space Flight CenterSister blogger Jessica McFadden, also known as A Parent in Silver Spring, recently wrote an essay for the Washington Post about taking kids to the Goddard Space Flight Visitors' Center. It's reprinted on her blog, along with links to other essays by parents about family-friendly indoor-play destinations in and around Washington.

If you're headed that way -- and cherry blossom season isn't far off -- you might give these destinations a try, and report back on how you liked them. Meanwhile, any other ideas?

Thanks for the shout-out! Love Charm City Moms!

Oh, my kids and I also really enjoy the open gym playtimes at Pump It Up. It's moonbounce heaven and a great place for the kids to get their crazies out on snow days. There are several locations near Baltimore: http://www.pumpitupparty.com/locator-main.aspx

What about the National Museum of the Marine Corps? It's free and has exhibits that actually let you experience the surroundings at different battles (i.e. one room is quite chilly to reflect the temperature).

Also, the Navy Art Museum has some great pieces on display right now.
