Favorite libraries for kids this Thursday

It's time to submit your nominations for this week's Tip Sheet Thursday, which will look at favorite public library branches for families around Central Maryland.

Obviously lots of people stick with their local branches, but are there any that your kids find so much fun or that you find so well-stocked that you'd make a special trip to visit? Comment early and often.

We really like the EPFL branch on Conkling street in Highlandtown. The SE Anchor branch. Unlike other branches, my double stroller fits through the doors, and the children's section is always filled with great options for my two voracious readers.

We also visit the Canton branch when we can, and I can't say enough good things about the children's librarian there, Miss Gloria. She always remembers my kids names and ages and is a whiz at remembering what sort of books my son likes. She is a treasure!

Storyville in Rosedale is awesome!

Roland Park and Towson are both great for kids!

I second the Storyville in Rosedale. My kids and I love it! In fact, my sister came from Delaware to meet me there and couldn't believe it was free to go in.

Storyville.

The East Columbia branch in Howard County. There's a wing of the bulding specially designed for children--a neat jungle themed entry leads to a huge selection of books, CDs, DVDs. There's a row of computers with educational kids games that are easy to use. The librarians are children's specialists and are great at answering questions. My 3 year old son asked for "books about making 'splosions (explosions)" and he was happily accomodated with a basic book of home chemistry experiments--luckily nothing dangerous. One librarian even learned his name. Great programs. I could go on and on.

Our vote is for Roland Park. The kids love it!
