Tips for Father's Day gifts this Thursday

Since we had a tip sheet with what mothers really wanted for Mother's Day, it seems that Father's Day gifts might be a good subject for this week's tip sheet -- IF we can get enough dads to participate. Remember this is your bully pulpit; you can be gloriously anonymous or pseudonym-ous; and, if you're stumped on what to suggest for your own gift, you can get ideas from others.

Women, please post tips for gifts that have gone over well for you before. This is also a self-interested tip sheet. Memo to husband: Tell me what you want before I buy you another shirt!

I was stumped this year for my H until a flyer for Omaha Steaks came in the mail. I'm getting him a big package of meat that normally costs almost 200 dollars, but is running on special for 50. He loves to grill and he loves to eat meat, so I figured he'd really like this one.

My father-in-law is getting the same thing he gets every year--a case of beer and a package of black licorice. He is easy to please. No idea yet for my dad.

Shopping for Father's Day can be intimidating -- until you realize that every father was once a 12-yr-old boy.

Two words:

Laser. Slingshot.

Guaranteed to be a hit, and major brownie points for finding something he would have secretly wanted to buy for himself.

How about a light saber?

My children don't really get presents for Father's Day. Homemade cards and crafts (like bookmarks) are fine by me.
