Nugget's lunch

While I've been writing about Dinner Together, faithful commenter Annelies has started a new blog about the lunches she sends to preschool with her son, whom she calls Nugget (on the blog, anyway). She packs his fare in very cute bento boxes. Annelies has an added challenge in preparing tasty, healthful lunches: Nugget has food allergies, which will make her blog particularly useful to many of you.

There are other dishes besides lunch. I'm going to try the Xetzels she made as a school snack sometime.

How do you deal with lunch and food allergies?

Thanks for mentioning my blog!

If anyone is new to allergies or your child was recently diagnosed, a great resource is the Food Allergy & Anaphalaxis Network:

Locally, there is a woman named Tammy in Ellicott City who heads up the food allergy list serve for the Baltimore area. She can be reached via her website:

Supercute blog!

My older son has the dreaded peanut allergy, but he is not in preschool yet.

Mostly, he likes typical kid-fare for lunch -- nuggets, nuggets, pizza, nuggets, nuggets...

Thank you Annelies for being so generous with your resources--clearly reflected in the blog. There is a level of attention to detail which is fascinating...but it's also kid-centered and FUN. Who can argue with your idea of apple-shaped meunster slices as the most benign of all gifts bewteen moms? I'm not that inventive...but I love that you are--and are willing to share.
