Using the categories
Parenting is a game that changes constantly. One minute, you're all about how to get that baby to sleep. The next, you're wondering when she's going to walk. And before you know it, you'll barely remember those obsessions, because now you're worried about whether she's old enough to date.
That, my friends, is why the handy categories are on the right rail of our blog. Because a post that might not have applied to you last month may seem suddenly relevant today, we've preserved them for you under areas of interest. If you want to catch up on past installments of Father's Day Tuesday, Dinner Together or our Monday consultations with parenting experts, they're all there, too. (There's even a category on how to use the blog, in case you're not sure about how to post a comment.)
If those are still too general for what you're looking for, you'll also find a search engine on the right that will let you look for posts by keyword.
Is there a category I haven't covered yet that's of burning interest to you? I'm all ears; let me know by posting a comment below, or in an e-mail.

I've enjoyed reading your blog, knowing that in 3 months (I am due in early June), I might be able to relate a bit more, but I was thinking it might be interesting to add a moms-to-be entry every now and then. For those of you who have been pregnant to those of us who are navigating it for the first time? Babies and toddlers doesn't seem to quite capture it - I think pregnancy or moms-to-be would.
I get the sense us moms-to-be (especially first timers) have a bit more time to troll the internet and read blogs and try to get as much information as possible - and it would be nice to have some Baltimore-specific information - where to buy initial baby stuff besides babies-r-us, for example? I'd love to know of a local place to look for cribs and such so I don't have to resort to a chain. I'd love to know if any Baltimore moms use diaper services (I've had a hard time finding any on the internet) or use gdiapers to try to be a bit more green (this could probably fit with the babies category, though)?
I get the sense that once my little one arrives in June, I am not going to have nearly as much internet time...so a moms-to-be/pregnancy category would be my suggestion (per your March 8th post).
This is a great idea that deserves its own post.

Hey Amy,
For interesting baby clothes and toys and slings/carriers (which I loved) you might try Bediboo in Lauraville or Bratt Decor in the Belvedere Square area. Congratulations!

I nursed both of my kids as long as I could but when we needed to supplement and after weaning them, we found buying formula at BJ's to be a much better buy than target, WalMart or the grocery store. They carried a bigger canister and the price worked out to be a little less per ounce.

First of all - Congrats! Doing the mom-to-be gig is hard enough, but you're in for some fun too.
One of the best places I found is a schelp - Great Beginnings out in Gaithersburg. They have knowledgeable staff and don't mind you asking 20 million questions. We went there to check out strollers (their selection of jogging-type strollers was much better than BRU) but bought from the internet due to cheaper price. They do, however, also have a section of clearance items, including cribs and dressers. This is usually items that were ordered but not picked up or manufacturer's closeouts.
Hopefully this helps.

If you are interested in buying gently used items, I suggest Tried But True on York Road in Cockeysville (maybe a mile north of the intersection of York and Warren). I've purchased a glider and ottoman, a co-sleeper bassinet and a jogging stroller, all for $200 total. They also have tons of clothing for kids of all ages.
I'm a new mom (my daughter is 9 weeks old) and I would also like to see more info here for new parents. Thanks!
