More Lou Dobbs on CNN, Fox, Comedy Central

Whatever you think of Lou Dobbs, you have to admit a show host resigning on-a-dime on-air after almost three decades on the job is a pretty remarkable turn of events -- even in the insane world of cable TV news.

I will be on CNN's "Reliable Sources" Sunday at 10 a.m. (ET)  discussing the Dobbs resignation. This story is far from over.

Monday night, Dobbs will be interviewed by Bill O'Reilly at 8 p.m. on Fox, and that is one conversation I want to hear. I'll be watching and writing. Ditto for Wednesday when he will be on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

I have been arguing that CNN needs to dump Dobb since July. Even if he does wind up at Fox and gets big numbers, I would still argue it is a move CNN needed to make to preserve its credibility.

Dobbs reportedly walked away frrom $9 million worth of contract to leave CNN once Klein told him he was not going to allow Dobbs to voice extreme opinions and compromise the channel's integrity. Like I said, this story is far from over.

Dobbs was the only objective and honest person on CNN...we won't be watching CNN again. Dobbs spoke the truth irregardless of what party they were from. This bias so called News makes us sick.

Dobbs was probably the only brave and open journalist when it came to illegal immigration. Hats off to him for that. However, on his shows that single topic wasn't enough to carry him, and he quickly descended into flabbergasted name calling - a shame really.

Sorry Joanne, but Dobbs is a racist moron. I don't know what's sadder, Dobbs bloated opinion of himself or your gushing over him like he's the second coming.

Joanne B, "irregardless" is not a word, "regardless" would be correct. Aside from that, I TOTALLY AGREE with your comment.
CNN, short for the communist news network, just lost it's only credible on-air person. Within weeks, they will be down there with MSNBC. What a joke!

Lou Dobbs strong opinion on immigration, national security and race were only the result of profits and not convictions as he wishes everyone to believe; he will have always a big audience wherever he goes. It is big business in America to be immigrant hateful in front of TV cameras.

"Integrity?" Surely you jest. Blitzer, Cooper, Hannity -- it's not news, it's distortions and story telling. There is no U.S. news network.

Good luck tomorrow. Please do not get too famous for us.
Everyone is getting so famous these days and forgetting the people that got them there. hehee.

Z,

I think it was a good move for CNN, I like that cable channel and an even smarter move putting John King in. Integrity is what will win them viewers in the long run. I know that is what I look for. I will be very interesting in the Dobbs-OReilly interview and the article following. Will be looking for the post.

Good luck on Reliable Sources, I think the issues of Fort Hood and Lou Dobbs will be particularly interesting.

Lou Dobbs is an excellent example of honest journalism in a sea of lies and half-truths. Today's liberal spin meisters are a disgrace to American news. I won't be watching CNN any more either - it was the only credibility they had. Too bad.

Strange comment - that Dobbs was the only "objective" person on CNN and then complain about "bias" in the news. Dobbs was known for and prided himself on advocacy journalism - which by definition is biased and not objective. What we need is less biased, less subjective, and less advocacy in the media and more investigative reporting. We are getting more opinions than facts these days. Anyone can have an opinion. Anyone can get hot and red-faced. It takes skill to dig for the facts and be objective. A rare skill these days.

Z,

Just set my recorder for the 10AM show. Can't wait to check it out.

Lou Dobbs was my must watch CNN show and now I will watch CNN much less - You rock Lou - take your time picking your next gig - as I will be waiting and them watching.

Dobbs is a white supremacist. If you think white supremacism is unbiased, then I can see why you think he is not biased. I think it is disgusting. On top of that, I don't know how anyone can stomach his indignant attitude. So arrogant. Not likeable.

Lou Dobbs is a self-important blow hard in the same mold as Bill O'Reilly. They should be very happy together

I can't wait to see you on Sunday and then Dobbs on O'Reilly on Monday. Good tv!

Dobbs was not objective nor honest that's why he was asked to leave.

Silent all dissenting voices! The problem is that there is FOX, Talk Radio, Lou Dobbs, and 57 million of us. If CNN moves Rick Sanchez to the 7 o'clock hour, there will be no doubt that they will have hit rock bottom in the credibility column-move over MSNBC! This Zurawik obviously believes that differing opinions should not be allowed or tolerated! The left fears an open discussion of ideas. This is nothing new. Their fairy tale utopia planning always needs to be implemented by force!

Perhaps you can mention that a far left loonie recently shot at his home!

I did mention the facts of the incident in my last piece on Dobbs Wednesday, in fact. I reported what is known to be true: That police investigated what is believed to be a bullet that struck his house. It could have been a hunter, since Dobbs live in a semi-rural area. Nowhere in any police report does the term "far left loonie" appear. Not is there any mention of the ideological beliefs of the shooter, since they do not who the shooter was -- or even if anyone was shooting at the house intentionally.Z

Joanne, Dobbs was only spreading hate. Everything from Dobbs was negative. What
America do you live in a positive or negative? The best news source is bbc or AP

Lou Dobbs is [was] the only program that I watch [watched] on CNN. CNN is otherwise too biased toward the left even in their regular news broadcasts. I got a sick feeling just listening to CNN's regular newscasts due to all of the leftist liberal bias. I used to watch nothing but CNN but they have changed over the years. I had to switch to more friendly news stations.

Score 1 for Obama's State Run Media. Nothing short of frightening what is happening in this country.

First off Lou Dobbs is not a racist. For those that don't know his wife is actually Mexican-American and they've been married for many years.

He is not against immigration but illegal immigration. His concern was a repeat of the Reagan era amnesty where Congress and the President promised to secure the border so that the nation would not be back in the same situation but then dropped the ball. Trust me if they grant amnesty before they secure the border they'll never do it history will repeat itself.

Lou Dobbs was not hurting CNNs credibility, CNN is hurting CNN's credibility by claiming to be one thing while being another. They cannot make credible claims of being centrist when they are clearly left of center. If you don't live up to what you tell folks then eventually they tune you out. With Dobbs gone there is no middle of the road or conservative voice on CNN, they are all now clearly on the left.

I'm not surprised to see him appear on Bill O'Reilly's show. They have both spoken well of one another in the past.

Lou Dobbs leaving CNN predestines their failure to speak the truth about both parties by supporting the Obama-nation White House and lying all along the way since! What kind of "integrity" are they talking about at CNN?? I seen only lies and contempt for the American people coming from back in the Ted Turner days! Nothing has changed just the names and faces. I commend Lou Dobbs in his decision to walk away from the MSM and their feeble attempt to dumb down the American public.

Those of you who favor illegal immigration should write a letter to Congress and tell them how you feel. Be sure to include your willingness to pay for the costs illegal aliens impose on our country by yourselves. This includes their education, health, correctional and welfare costs. If you want illegal immigration, than YOU pay for it.

If we need to reform our health care, we need to reform the medias. They are engaged in news making rather then reporting the news.

Dobbs was the only reason I watched CNN. Now there is no reason to watch as it covertly tries to become as left as MSNBC. Dobbs spoke the truth that people did not want to hear.

Linda O (11:16 PM) -

If you actually took some time to read more writings by "This Zurawik," you would hopefully realize that your accusations that he "obviously believes that differing opinions should not be allowed or tolerated!" is completely untrue and nonsensical.

And it might do you some good to stop generalizing. Lumping all people who may think differently from you into a cliched, worn-out category does not show any particular original thought.

Dobbs i about sensationalism, as are most of the news networks. Truth is so far gone as to be laughable. Fox is about fear mongering and FUD. Microsoft used it for years as a great marketing tool. If you can sew Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt about the competition, into the minds of your target audience, you needn't pormote any positive atributes you have.

Fear mongering... the sky is falling.. Obama's the devil.. .

GIve me a break... Obama isn;t any more perfect than Bush.... blech.. Walter come home...

I want be watching CNN anymore. He was the only reason I watched. Ohhh well good luck to both CNN and Lou.

It is pretty bad that you people have to bad mouth an reporter after 30 years of service to your program. Lou was the only truthful person on the news and the only reason I watched CNN. He being with you show for that period of time and if he was as bad as you now claim how did he last that length of time. You will admit that you (CNN) could be the problem!!!!!v

Hi Mike, I understand what you are saying and how you feel. But CNN is one of the last reliable sources of news and information on TV and Dobbs was a threat to thet. I really believe that. And I feel he put his ego over his duties as a journalist. Thanks. Z

You were a good arguer this morning on Reliable Sources. Hardly anyone on television these days argues principle of matters. You are a good one to have on Reliable sources cuz you voice the principle of matters.

I do not know alot about Dobb's but I want to see it. I am guessing Dobb's future is working to get a Republican in office in 2012. But, like I said, I am not real well versed on this one so it is just and educated guess.

Hi Irene, Thanks. I always love your comments. You are one of the vloggers here who makes this blog so much fun for me to do. Z

By the way anyone seen Alex McCrae,Avis or Holly lately? We may need to an ABB (all bloggers bulletin) out on them. hehe

Hey, seriously, ALEX, Holly, Avis: This is an ABB from ZZZ. Please check in and let us know you are OK. Z

Holie Molie move over Dobbs and Palin. (We do not have to further address Prejean she is weasling out of her book tour) David Alexrod is on State of Union making a case for 9/11 terror suspects to be tried to in New York. Whoie! I about jumped off my computer. We are gonna bring these....Oh brother...I better not start. Maybe we can get a discussion about this going.

Hi Irene, I missed that. I was travelin back from Washington. Let me try to find a transcript of what he said before I say anything. Z

Hi Z,

Back from church. I actually caught the segment before we had to leave. It was a great discussion. You and Eric Degann (sp) did a great argument for the intregrity of CNN. Yea.

Hi Sherry, Thanks for the kind words. I hope you guys are having a nice day. Z

Oh yeah, agree with Z and Irene. ALEX M., Holly, and Avis hurry back. Holly we appeciate all of your family's service to our country. Praying for our military families. Let us know how you guys are!!!

Lou Dobbs "didn't hurt CNN's credibility?!? What?!? He single-handedly gave MSM credence to the rediculous "birthers" regarding President Obama's citizenship! When Dobbs was off-air for a time, CNN went into detail about the issue and when Dobbs returned, he once again chose to legitimize the doubters! Are you THAT blind to tabloid and/or smear jobs?

ding dong the witch is mute, ho-ray that big fat liar is finally gone.....and yes there is no real USA news, just a bunch of corp owned whores paid for by other corp owned whores.

Z., Irene, Sherry T., Marie, AnnC et al,

First off, I really am humbled and touched by the fact that many of my fellow "Z on TV" "groupies" (as blogger Rose labelled us in an earlier Palin-themed post), have noticed my absence for the past few weeks.

Be assured that I didn't go off on some kind of wild vision-quest in search of my inner chi, or join a wacko L.A. cult sustained by a diet of alfalfa sprouts, tofu, nettle shoots and tantric yoga (that's the sexual yogic pursuit of nirvana. HA!). Frankly, I couldn't distinguish a kundalini from a Hebrew National all-beef ballpark weenie. (Oh, behave!)

A while back, I mentioned in passing, in response to one of Sherry T.'s posts, that I had tweeked my sacra iliac while helping a buddy move, and was in considerable, yet at that point, tolerable pain, localized in both my left hip and lower back.

After two visits to my Kaiser Permanente (HMO) Emergency ward(?) last Saturday and the following Monday, and seeing my GP this past Wednesday, I can say I'm just this weekend finally feeling that things are coming around for the better. From a maximum initial pain level of 10 out of a possible ten, I would say I'm currently floating within the 3-to-4 range on the 'pain-o-meter'. When I limped into the ER on my initial hospital visit my blood pressure had shot up to an alarming 199/85. (Apparently extreme pain can really spike your blood pressure numbers.....Who knew?) The ER doctor gave me two consecutive injections of Morphine and a tab of Valium and within a half-hour after the 1st shot my blood pressure came down to a respectable 129/ 63. I'm now on a daily regime of Percocet (for pain), Cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxant) and Salsalate (anti-inflamatory). (I was so out of it, at one point , I thought the Salsalate was some kind of Mexican jalepanjo concoction...... Salsa-late?)

Basically, I've been feeling so rotten for the last fortnight (got that one from Wimbledon tennis parlance) that I was only able to sit at my iMac for short spells. So I really didn't have the comfort-level, or the mental energy to commentate in my usual loquacious manner.....Okay, long-winded manner. HA!

To be honest, you folks on "Z on TV" kept me half sane thru my most painful, agonizing days, and I thank my lucky stars that I could at least be w/ you guys, in absentia, so to speak. Definitely w/ you folks in spirit.

It's been gratifying, of late, to see several new bloggers jumping onto the "Z on TV" bandwagon, from the usual handful of over-zealous ideologues to the more level-headed, informed, thoughtful, and just as passionate middle-of-the-roaders. Just for her exotic name alone, I give "Marisol de Braganca" the benefit of any doubt, although she is obviously hopelessly smitten by Sarah "You Betcha" Palin.

Irene, Sherry T., Marie, AnnC, Holly, Jarod..... you guys always step up to the plate and tell it like it is, w/ intelligence, sincerity, civility and wit. Gotta have that humor to kind of balance the ledger.
I also appreciate your openness in sharing some of your more personal takes on how issues brought up by Z. on this blog impact the reality of you, and your family's everyday lives.

I'm posting a shortish post re/ Z.'s Nov. 14th article, "The Sarah Palin interview: Shill, baby shill", later this evening. You may find it a tad lame, but at least this sciatic hip/ back thing hasn't numbed my sense of humor ......... or maybe it has? HA!

I really missed being involved in the usual thrust and parry of on-going blog debate, but as the Governator is want to say, "I'll Be Back!".

Thanks for thinking of me, gang.

ALEX

P.S.:

Z., now that us loyal "Z on TV" devotees have been labelled as "groupies", maybe you should consider mustering some sort of posse when going out on your CNN, or FOXNews gigs. HA!
"Blogmeister Z & His Funky Posse".....Hmmm..... kinda catchy, no?

Hi ALEX: I am so sorry to hear about your back. I understsnd how back injuries can blow up the whole body until you do wind up in an ER or hospital room. But I am so glad you are back. Ireally diod start to worry yesterday, and the anxiety level only rose. So this makes me very happy to know you are back and will soon be taking me to task on one of my very next posts (ha). If this is a posse, you guys need to find a better a sheriff (ha again). I'm just happy you are back. PS Big day in blogmeister-land Monday: Palin on Oprah, Dobbs on O'Reilly, Kate on Kate on Kiate. The posse might have to make a frew arrests on its own in TV Land. Z

Just some thoughts:

I don't think Lou Dobbs desserves any more or less respect because of how long he was on the air. Slavery was legal and women had no rights for longer than 30 years. Does that mean they were great ideas?

Also, I still fondly remember the days of questioning the POTUS after 9/11 as unpatriotic and disgusting. Suddenly it's "the People's News Network" when a zealot from the other side is held accountable. I assume there was a lot of support for Dan Rather when he was pushed out?

Anyway, CNN is as close to fair as there is and I'd rather them purge the extremes to keep it that way. Now if they could just investigate more like they used to...

ALEX, ALEX, ALEX -

You really did have us all worried. Irene had out an ABB on you and Z was trying to locate a facebook friend that might know what happened to you.

So glad you are back! I figured that the sciatica had been keeping you down. It is true that pain will make the BP go up and it will also increase the heart rate (tachycardia) fancy word for a heart rate over 100 beats per minute. I love medical, just in case you hadn't figured that out. Don't you love thise pain scales that the triage ER's use. They always ask rate your pain on a scale from 1-10. Ten being the worst pain ever and 1 basically chilling. If you were in the 10 out of 10 level ALEX then you were in bad shape. I have never been there. I had peritonitis one time and it was close though.

I am so glad that you went and got treated and the medicines are helping. Maybe the antiinfammatory will be the key. Sometimes sciatica is caused by an infection. Anyway, I could go on all day about this medical parts of your dilemma, but I won't. However, did they ever get an MRI or CT to determine if you had a pinced nerve or a displaced disc?

Okay, ALEX - I will be looking forward to your post on Lou Dobbs, you have to get caught up with us and I love to read your posts. You know that. In Gunsmoke world Z is Matt Dillon, and lets see Irene can be Kitty and we will have to figure out the other characters, of course I can play the part of the good doctor. This could be fun!!! Do I get points for brevity today ALEX? Seriously glad you are better. I still say you should sign us up on facebook where we can keep track of you. At least sign Z - sheriff up!! See ya partner.

Hey Alex M. I am glad you are feeling better. What a pain in the back!

Yes, today is going to be a busy day in the blog world.

As far as the Posse...well all I can tell people is what they say in many 12 step programs. "Keep coming back" Come back for us...it keeps us grounded. Come back for yourself...we just might change your mind...Come back for the views....it keeps things in perspective...but just Keep coming back. Because the "craziness of Television" gets exposed here for all that it is worth.

Irene,
That was great. I loved "it keeps us grounded, and in perspective and we love the craziness of TV". Z help us sort through all of it. It has been fun deconstructing the sociology of J&K and I have learned a lot. Now in Gunsmoke world we just have to ride out and round-up Avis and Holly and posse will be together again.

I have to do some running, but I will be back.

ALEX,

I'm so sorry to hear of all the pain you have been going through. Glad it seems to be on the wane. Watch out for those pain meds, however. We need you lucid here!

I can relate a teeny bit to your situation because I have had this terrible pain in the neck that has lasted for many months now. The doctor called it Gosselin-myalgia-osteo-annoyance-headexplosionism-Jon&Kate-itis, and said it is spreading fast. The CDC fears a pandemic, but treatments in the form of participating in the Z on TV community have shown great promise in overcoming this awful condition. (Hope you don't mind the levity, ALEX. I think laughter has great healing powers!)

I'm so very glad you are back. Take care of yourself.

LOL AnnC Alex and all the bloggers are gonna love this last post of yours.

Too funny!

AnnC -

That was really funny! I will have to remember the Gosselin pain in the bones, annoyance-head explosionsim Jon and Kate inflammation syndrome. I am adding that word to my medical terminiology. Too bad there is no good way to prevent the condition. Oh yea, the end of the show should take care of it. haha Thanks AnnC that was great - do you like medical terminology too?
