Kate lies, cries to bitter end of 'Jon & Kate' finale

Could TLC have been more heavyhanded in the "Jon & Kate Plus 8" finale in hitting its one theme again and again? It went like this all night long: It's over, and it's sad. And it didn't have to be over, if it wasn't for Jon with his "warped" and "unhealthy" ways. But, hey, I'm not going to say bad things about my childrens' father.

Right, Kate. You and TLC are shameless.

Oh, you have to hand it to Kate, she went out in high-Kate-lying-through-her-teeth-and-crying-when-she-couldn't-think-of-any-more-lies-to-tell style Monday night.

Take your pick of the following crying points that Kate hit over and over: "It's too soon." "It's been cut short." "It's sad." "It's useless." "It's totally avoidable."

UPDATE: Don't forget live chat about finale at noon Tuesday (ET) at Z on TV.

If you feel sad, dear viewer, because it is over, blame Jon. It's all his selfish fault. Here look at how mean he is to Cara and Mady when they are trying to help him make signs for a lemonade stand. See, what a bad and selfish person he is. It's all his fault for all the tears you are seeing tonight. Oh, and did I mention that I don't tell the children about his girlfriends?

"That's too warped for them...too unhealthy," organic Kate, the purveyor of all things moral and healthy, says.

The total takedown of Jon Gosselin was set up with the opening image of the sign Jon posted to keep TLC and its production company cameras off his property. Of course, the word "penalty"  was spelled wrong ("penelty"), and that proves how stupid Jon is, right? Because Kate is such a genius.

Forget the lemonade sale with Jon and the trip to the organic farm with Kate. That was all just garbage tape TLC used to pad out the episode and sell a few more ads. The finale, as several bloggers here correctly predicted, was really about making Jon look bad, and giving Kate more couch time to try and make viewers hate Jon for ending the show. Because we all know that as a father, he should not have the right to take his kids off TV. What are a parent's rights compared to those of the great TLC?

I really have avoided using the word "vile" to describe TLC, but I think The Lying Channel earned it with this finale and last week's episode in the way their producers set out to do a hatchet job on Jon.

Jon is an idiot, adolescent, self-absorbed, low-life fool of a fool. But he is not a bad person for taking his kids off TV, even if Kate said several times Monday night how much the kids "miss" being circus animals for TLC.

Oh yeah, that was the secondary theme, Kate saying again and again how many "great and unique opportunities" TLC provided for her and the kids -- opportunities that the kids otherwise would not have had if not for the generous and great TLC. She even thanked TLC at the end for the "tapes"" -- the videotapes that will record forever her family imploding before the eyes of millions of viewers.

Her closing words, "It's sad. It's cut short. It's too soon... I'm very grateful for the opportunities. I'm grateful for the memories. I'm grateful for the memories on tape."

Could you pimp your kids out more for TLC's cameras and profits -- and your borderline shot at being a third-rate talk show host? Let's see how happy your kids are, Kate, for the "memories on tape" that will haunt them the rest of their lives when they see their parents being mean to each other, when they see Jon making Cara cry, or Jon talking on a cell phone when one of his 5-year-old daughters asks for a popsicle on a hot day.

I have had enough. I can take no more Gosselin and TLC lies. I am handing off to Kelly. Here's Kelly and she is taking no prisoners:

And so it is, we have now come to the destination.  I know now how my parents must have felt many years ago, on a trip to the beach and we kept asking, minute by minute, “Are we there yet”?

How they must have wanted to pull their hair out, much like all of us have been doing these past five seasons…  Yes Kate, I said five seasons not five years because seasons are short and years are long and the thought of watching you day in and day out for 5 years is tantamount to self abuse.  ”Are we there yet”?

Finally folks, we’ve pulled into the parking lot and it’s time for all of us to run to the sandy shores of freedom, relaxation and forget about this long national nightmare called Jon and Kate Plus Eight.  It’s over.  (Unless Jon has yet again, another Epiphany and wants Kate back and they realize their freebies are over and they need some cash)

At this point, I’m almost expecting a government bailout of the Gosselins by January and everyone who watched this exploitation of children should be placed in the witness “protectionish” program.  So, with that said, the show begins:

It’s a crazy life:

Last time on the set.  Kate looks behind her and acts like she is so surprised with the question from the PA.   She doesn’t like ends, goodbyes or no paycheck.  Kate says: “It’s totally avoidable and every job has it’s benefits. The fact that  she could go to work and her kids could go with her……..YEAH KATE… it’s bittersweet just like an unemployment check.  Is  there not enough?    Jon still talking about being 27, 32, having twins,  Tups   not ready for it.  …..He’ll always be a kid.   The father of 8,  loves New York, three hours from his house and work.  HELLO…….. Work???   What loving Dad moves three hours away from his kids????  Partying at all hours of the night could be work if you didn’t work.  The morning after is always hell.  Jon is moving forward and knowing what he has to do to save his family.  Those Red Bulls and Vodka  are really helping him out with saving the family.

Hard to here Stories:

Kate has her need to protect them.  Is it safe, well thought out and Jon doesn’t take them many places without her.  I’m starting to realize, just 10 minutes into this slam fest that Jon is going to be trashed, no matter what.   Jon takes the kids to a firehouse to raise money for charities.  I’m believing this just like I heard from a debtor that the check is in the mail.

The Gosselins working for a charity?????  That’s like saying the IRS is going to send you a Valentines card.  Jon kicks the twins out of the picnic table because they were acting rude.  WHAT??????   They were just coloring in coloring books.  HOW RUDE.    Jon cuts up two or three lemons and takes the kids to the firehouse to sell lemonaide.  I bet they sold about three glasses before the lemons ran out.  Typical Gosselin charity.

The donation jar was about as big as a shot glass.  Jon thinks only in shot glass measurements.  When the babes showed, Jon turned the paper on the table into lemons.  WOW…… the lemonade was plentiful.  I thought I was watching a biblical feature of the Wedding at Canna.  Oh yeah, then Kate adds her own tepid response saying it was for publicity purposes.  Just forget about those trips Kate makes to Kinkos, Target, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, the bus stop and all the other photo ops.  Kate is looking good in this TLC white wash   Didn’t see Jon or Kate donate any of their church earned cash to the volunteer fire fighters.

After the dinner break of 60 grams of saturated fat, fried food, without bibs, and no veggies, Jon dons a firemans outfit and moves toward the kids in an attempt to scare them.  He’d scare me without a firemans turnout clothes..  I only hope that they sterilized the breathing mask after Jon took it off.  Who knows what he was breathing into it.  All the kids got a firemans hat but I’m pretty certain, we’ll see them on Ebay tomorrow.  Gosselin Firehat anyone?

Kate discovers an Organic Farmer:

Kate takes the tups to the farm.  All of them except the twin girls.  They don’t count do they?  Twins are just twins.  Tups are just……….MONEY MAKERS.   They walk to the farm, about a mile.. RIGHT!!!  5 year olds can’t walk a mile without being tired, complaining.  She managed to get passed the P People, on a country road that has no curb, no sidewalk and KATE walks on the inside, next to the fence while the kids were all walking on the road.  Hmmmmmm,  she did this for the kids?  I’ve been on that road folks and it aint a country road.  Cars travel at 50 mph through the twists and turns.  Not something you want your kids to be walking on.

Kate loves organic cows. Kate says… “They are so gorgouse.”  Her first admission of any feeling towards anything.  She speaks about utters.  Well Kate, perhaps they could get a tummy tuck and a body enhancement too.  Maybe a push up utter helper and a tooth whitening ala TLC and they’d look HOT  grazing.

MOMMY can we get down:

Kate pets a cow and talks about how many vegetables the cow has eaten.  For a minute there, I thought Kate was going to pick the cows up, tell them they were all getting a cow for Christmas and name them all at the same time.  Poor cows.  The kids started milking the cows and I’m almost certain that Jon was watching this and thinking about Kate Major, Hailey Glassman, Stephanie Santoro and all the other women he’s been with, remembering what a cow he is.  Hint to Jon…..You better keep grazing because the grass is dying.

Kate watching the cows being milked.  She was as excited as watching a car going through an emmisions testing station.  The cows weren’t really happy either.  Kate was there.  They know all about her.  Can’t wait for the cows to be on the interview couch.

Kids getting a Snack:

Organic, mind you.  Except for the Hershey’s chocolate that was added to their cows milk.  After the kids drank that organic concoction, they all turned into Transformers and solved the worlds problems…………Jon and Kate.

Kate says, “it’s been a great run.  I’m very greatful for the opportunities.  For the people who took us into their livingroom and supported us. “  She cried, yet again.   Let’s all pitch in and buy this woman a couch so she can cry and cry and cry and ……………
I’d be crying too if my check stopped coming in.  Good bye Jon and Kate and …..GET A JOB
As the great Walter Cronkite would say, “ And That’s the Way it is.”   Goodnight and good riddance to the program…Jon and Kate plus 8 little innocent kids.   Good luck to the eight little innocent, unknowing kids that were pushed, pulled and bribed into this horrible, horrible charade.  Time has recorded your lives and as embarrassed  as you may feel years from now, know that we weren’t watching you like a circus attraction, we ached for you and did all we could do to speak for you by blogging and asking for this to end…..for your sake.

And since this is the last episode, here is a special bonus post from Chrysee, who got this posted so fast, it drove her to take up smoking again. Here's Chrysee:

I can't believe I gave up Top Chef for this.  Here goes,

The Lies -  in some semblance of order thus far:

Kate: This was totally avoidable.
It was a job where.... I didn't have to leave home for work.  (then why did you do that so often, Kate?)
 [fiddles with necklace]

Jon:I gotta stop being a kid.
I kinda took advantage of it "for awhile" (uh,five years to be exact , Jon)

Kate:  I'm in a different boat than Jon. (it's the boat YOU built Kate)
I'm gonna do everything I can as a mother (better start soon, Kate)
 [fiddles with necklace]

Jon: I have work again.  (what???)

Kate:  I need them to see a hard working parent. (meaning herself of course, again better get at it, Kate)
I try not to do 'it' in a disparaging way (speaking of her childrens father)
 [fiddles with necklace]

(on Hailey) They don't know about the girlfriends at all  (uh huh, right Kate)
 [fiddles with necklace]

Oh good  a commercial.

We're back.

Kate: Jon doesn't take them many places alone without me
[uh oh here comes the bus]

cut to kids bickering and looking bored re: lemonade day. Jon actually disciplines the kids.  Yeah, TLC is trying to make him look bad (it's not working....yet)

Jon: (disses the paps -their fault for not raising much money)

Kate: I worry about his intentions, is this a publicity stunt.  (no, you don't Kate, cuz you do it ALL the time)

Commercial # 2 (and I'm sick already - must...find...water...beer....anything...I...don't...think ....I...can....do....this....)

And we're back - on with the lies;

More firetruck/lemonade day,
some cute stuff with the kids

Kate: My goal has been to remain neutral, state the facts...blah blah blah
(Big Lie)

I feel like it's ended so suddenly and it's been taken away from me and the kids... (yep, same ol same ol, as predicted)

Half over, commercial.

I'm taking up smoking again.  See you guys later.

It couldn't have ended soon enough. Thank God it's finally over. TLC, Kate, and Jon remind me of the Dirty Jobs episode with the big dump truck filled with disgusting recycled food going to slop the hogs - filthy slop everywhere...

TLC really is vile. First they destroy the kids and now their father.

... it's so sad I feel so bad for Kate and I hate jon

edited for crude language....Z

I do not know how to copy/paste Barbara's comment on the final feelings blog but Barbara you nailed it when you posted that a few minutes ago.

Z, I do not know how you do it either. I am about exhausted.

Gretchen, you are a sweetheart of sweethearts and I am glad for your sake that this show tonight was fluffed with some of the kids as a distraction. I hope you enjoyed that part of it and I look forward to our text messages tomorrow about the sweet little hershey kisses you text about to me all day today. Also, I am so proud of you for having your artwork displayed and I cannot wait to see it. Hugs & Kisses.

Rest of my BBF's I could not have gotten to this night without ya'll. I am sitting here listening to Kate's encore presentation. Ya'll kept things real in a situation that is unprecedented in television history, with a family that was ill prepared to take this on, by a corporation that should be stopped dead in their tracks over the way they treated this family and the 8 minor children.

Tonight was a testimony of just how low low really is. Within 29 minutes Radaronline, (spokesman for the Lying channel) said this, " The Jon and Kate plus 8 episode ended~for now~ on Monday nights as TLC aired an hour long last episode of the hit show"

Reality~~this is not over.

Goodnight. I have 6 pages of notes for our live chat tomorrow. Thank you z and carla for having the foresight..there is no way I could have watched this show and a live chat tonight. I will need the live chat tomorrow to recover.

This was wrong, too wrong, and I never had a clear picture until tonight just how wrong this is.

Good night bloggers.

It may be a crazy blog but its our blog!

And don't forgt the live chat Tuesday at noon (ET) at Z on TV. Thanks. Z

Thank You, it is finally over!!! Now to deal with the reruns and KATE on a talk show (stick needles in my eye).

I hated the digs at Jon and trying to show what a Jerk he is. We know he is a Jerk, so are you Kate!! TLC is truly The Lying Channel.

I just hope they all go away and stay away. Your 5 seasons are over, GO AWAY and DON'T COME BACK!!!!

Needles in the eye, yes. But I cvan't imaginje it will alst long. She was terrible in her tryout role on "The View." Let's hope anyway. Z

I don't agree that your life should be spent judging the life of others. i believe she is totally correct in saying that without the show they would have not had the means to do any of the activities and experiences that they were given with this show. jon himself said he's reliving his youth. But in the same sentence said he is moving on. Kate was never the angel don't get me wrong. but i dont think its fair to call anyone a liar, especially kate when she is obviously doing the best she can. so my point is.. next time you'd like to write a paragraph about someone elses life..think about your own because we all arent perfect and we all arent on television for everyone to judge because we arent judge and jury of each other...and if you dont want to watch it or read it...do something else to better yourself except judging and tearing apart others...

When a person lies, you call them a liar. You don't say she is doing the best she can. The best she can would be telling the truth. Thanks. Z

I cannot believe what I am watching. Now, if the kids weren't screwed up, when they are finally old enough to watch this episode they will be. They know more than anybody what their own father is like, and hearing her spew that stuff is reaalllly unhealthy.

They really could sink lower...Kate and TLC! How many times did she say "it's too soon"? The truth is it's too late!
She has pubilcly disparaged the children's father throughout their marriage and continued to do so to the bitter end. She's a classic bully...undermining the people (children, family, friends and fans) who have helped her along the way. Sadly, they, like Jon, will tire of it and move on, as we are doing today. I hope that the children's extended family step back into their lives as they retire from the public eye. May all the other "reality" families under TLC's control learn something from this debacle before it's too late.

She says it is too soon. She makes you think she is talking about the lives of her children when she is talking about a stupid TV show. She didn't want it to be over. Again, to what is she referring?. the freebie trips or staged visits to farms and gyms? The freebie trips to the Carolinas, Florida, Utah? She speaks as if they were traveling the country curing cancer and spreading goodwill. She is delusional.Good riddance bitch.

"Reality~~this is not over. " - Truer words have never been spoken my dear Irene. The show is over (hopefully for good but definitely for now), but the charade & fiasco of Jon & Kate Gosselin is far from over. While I am overjoyed that this show will no longer air new episodes, it's clear from looking at Radar Online (*barf*) that these children are FAR from free. I'd love to sit here & say "Now they will live their lives off camera" & while that may be true to a certain extent, it only takes a second to peruse various gossip sites to see pictures of the kids taken EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.

As long as Kate & Jon keep their faces out there & they will, those kids won't know the meaning of the word privacy. Every trip Kate takes with them to Target, Starbucks, etc will be met with photogs shoving their cameras in their faces. Every time Jon does something stupid, the cameras will be at the McMansion to catch a picture of Kate looking somber & the kids looking depressed. THIS, my dear Kate, is the damage your show has done. THIS is why it was important to stop the show SOONER rather than later.

The show hasn't even aired here on the West Coast yet & I'm fuming. FUMING.

Hi Holly, Good to have you back onboard. I predict smoke will be coming out of your ears by the time it's over. Z

I've been reading this blog for a long time but never posted. It's the most honest analysis of this trainwreck I've read and I have read a lot of them.

Even though I haven't agreed with so many of his recent antics I have always believed John was the most honest, down to earth of the two. His greatest fault in the marriage was not standing up for himself. You can just tell Jon had a happy childhood by the way he relates to his own children. The monster, Kate doesn't even speak to her family which to me, says a lot about her.

Kate is the most fake, money and fame hungry woman I have seen on television or anywhere for that matter. She wants fame and money and will let nothing get in her way including her then happy-go-lucky husband.

TLC is the most despicable channel I will never watch again. They need to drop the lawsuit against Jon and leave this poor family that they destroyed alone.

Jon's not conniving and manipulative to beat TLC or Kate unfortunately. I really wish he would get a good reputable attorney and put them both in their place. I would like nothing more than to see Kate wiping peoples behinds again where no one has a clue who she is.

Thanks Z and company for this great blog and for recognizing what was really going on. I'll continue to lurk and post occassionally because I just know this nightmare is far from over.

Z and Kelly - Thanks for another great post. I noticed that in Kate's blame everyone game she even dragged the camera crew into the mess by saying how much the kids will miss that and all the fun. Kate the filming needed to end before your family fell apart on TV. The camera crew could have remained friends. She still doesn't get it. That is sad.

Kelly your ending was perfect. It makes me proud that you said that we ached for the kids and only wanted the best for the kids. Great job.

I will say-for being a avid fan of this show, that it ended the way they both accepted it to. Kate knows when the cameras are on she has the choice to be seen as a positive or a negative. After all the negative she's learned to be a positive.

Jon, on the other hand, hasn't figured this out. So instead of looking engaging and interesting in doing an activity with his kids-whether cameras are there or not-he appears to look like an idiot that would rather be anywhere else but where his kids are.

And I have to point out that the few moments they showed him on the interview chair it really was just about him. Him living far away from his kids, his house..how convenient it was for him to leave the city when it worked for him to go live in the country.. Honestly, I'm surprised you guys didn't see this! It was sooo obvious he spent a lot of time during his interview talking about himself instead of how his family was doing, what he wanted for his family-other than to succeed; whatever that means..

And besides, the TV channel is suing him. He's under contract, of course they can picture him in any light they want to..and if he isn't smart enough to be chipper and polite when the cameras are around, then he's practically handing them the opportunity on a golden platter.

Her fiddling with her necklace is an indication she's not telling the whole truth, the necklace is her escape mechanism to make her feel better about what she's saying.

Could this have laste longer, possibly.

But not as Kate and Jon both have used it in the last 2 seasons. It was clear they were trying to do all they could to cash in on freebies.

Rather than try to pack everything into just a couple of seasons, they could have followed PA child labor laws and had fewer episodes per season and had more material.

They also should have realized that at some point it was going to end. They should have lived a much more modest life to enable the funds to sustain them as long as possible.

Kate could have been much nicer to Jon, we had 5 seasons of her pretty much berating him at every turn, and then this being shown to the children over and over. That's not healthy and led to the downfall of their marriage.

Kate still seems unwilling to accept her own role in the downfall. I still can't believe they are considering giving her another show. Just sounds crazy to me.

Kate: "...they are watching us right now, what' its like to be adults".

OH MY GOD!

8 little sets of eyes "watching", these two specimens, learning how to behave as adults?

This could be the stupidest thing Ms Kate has spewed in all her stupidish remarks.

More Kate: (talking about her closest friends" ".. they help with all the complex & intricate decisions. Every little decision I make has to be." Ok, so , what decisions does this moron make that are complex or intricate? LIke, what shoes to wear with which hairdo? Or, how many sippy cups to pack for 5 year olds? Or, which day to pick to go to see the cows, but make sure its a day that the twins can't go.

I know .. one of her "complex" decisions was probably which clips to tell TLC to use to make Jon look bad. You know, since she said she won't "disparage" their father to them. (Hey, TLC must have given Kate a crash course in vocabulary).

One of the biggest "laughs" people seem to pertain to Jon is the sign that was put on the fence about no more filming. Everyone has picked apart his spelling on that sign. I, for one, never thought that Jon made that sign personally. He told "someone" to make the sign and post it. I mean, yeah, he might misspell "penalty", but I doubt he would misspell his own name. Ya know?

Almost another point of proof that TLC interns scour the blogs... Everyone picks on them for all the travelling and exhorbitant vacations. So, all of a sudden, where is Kate taking them? (ok, the little ones, not the twins). Well, she takes them down the road to a neighbor who runs a dairy farm. Down the road! She even says they have lived in their house for a year and have never been there. All of a sudden (after blog postings). Voila.. off they WALK .. WALK.. to the dairy farm. What a joke!

Oh my God.. did everyone GAG when Kate said of herself, when getting ready to go to the farm "like I'm a regular farmer girl". GAG GAG GAG.

Then, she proceeds to lead the ridiculous parade of kids, nanny, crew trucks and has to remark, "don't worry, we are safe on the road, the paparazzi will keep everyone away from us"

Again.. GAG!

Of course, the kids start whining they are tired and want a car, etc. She tells Aiden to "buck up, be a man". Mommy seems to feel that 5 year olds should be more mature.

Kate says the kids love their father. (like we needed to be told). But, she worries when they are with him "is it safe, are they protected?". Well, I guess if they had, you know, SECURITY, Mama K might not have to worry. Right?

Jon disappointed me with the lemonade thing. I'm not sure if it was the editing or just his mood on that day. But, the twins were being crabby and annoying each other regarding markers. All of a sudden, he tells Mady to go in the house, she is not going to sell lemonade. She storms off and he turns on Cara, who was sitting quietly at that time (with a scowl) and tells her SHE isn't going either. Did I miss something there?

So, the twins didn't go sell lemonade with their father and they didn't go to the cow farm with their mother.

How many times could she have said "I never thought the filming at the dairy farm would be our last shoot"?

This "finale" was just another chance for TLC to put Kate in the seat and be interviewed by off camera voice and voiceover for the segment. Jon was an afterthought and it was quite apparent that his portion was filmed months ago. Something tells me his comments would be different if filmed last week or so just as Kate's were.

All in all.. a predictable hour and again shows just how low Kate & TLC have sunk.

Good luck to those beautiful children.

Nice sentiment on kids, marieE. And, yes, the farmer girl thing was too much. My head did explode right then and there.Z

I heard on Twitter that the finale was on. I flipped to TLC to watch it for five minutes -- five excruciating minutes -- for both the first and the last time.

Hopefully, this will all be over soon and Z can go back to bashing Sarah Palin like the good old days.

Ha, Tyler. No fun on Sarah any more. Can't go back. We have to find newer and better TV creatures and characters in need of deconstructing. Onward. Z

So the author of this blog hates that TLC and Kate used the show to bring Jon down even more yet all he did during this too long post was rant about how horrible TLC and Kate were. Pot? Kettle? Exactly. She has every right to protect her children from Jon and his selfish behaviour. ...

Edited for language.....As I said, Jon's a loser. But you don't savage him for taking the kids off TV. That's a parent's right and everyone knows it except TLC which destroyed this family right before our eyes for some macaroni and kitchen cleaner advertising dollars. You stick with TLC, Nen. Z

Pathetic, just pathetic.

Jon and Kate are both failures as parents

Thanks also to Chrysee. I really have to go to bed, but I will catch you all in the morning.

I can't think about Kate for at least another eight hours.

Ok so she misses her chauffeur. I think that's what she was saying.

You folks are hot tonight. ha. Thanks. Z

I can't believe she basically said you need to support me because that's how i support my family. And who picked the sappy sad song ending, that was gross. unnecessary.

Subtlety's not TLC's strong suit, it would seem; I can't imagine how they figured they'd get any kind of positive press from this blatant (if deserved) hatchet job on Jon. Certainly not 'well thought out' to, er, Kate's standards. Perhaps a production head or two will roll.

I chuckled when, during poster art for the lemonade stand, I heard Jon say, 'I'm in charge.' The moment a parent believes they must articulate that thought out loud, it's a foregone conclusion they are not, in fact, in charge. Not so funny is that Jon is clearly not coping on an adult level:

1) His punitive gasket blew because one of the twins poked him with a 'Mommy's better' type of comment.

2) His complete lack of joy in interacting with his kids is palpable. Sad to watch.

Jon's fortunate in that his New York-to-Country House lifestyle--now that he's, y'know, 'free'--has been entirely made possible by TLC. There's plenty to debate over the show's fundamental premise and ultimate effects on the kids, but Kate is absolutely correct that they would be in very different economic circumstances if it weren't for the TLC gig.

I genuinely hope they choose to take advantage of professional family counseling. They can afford it, and they clearly need it.

I'm watching it now (the 11 pm showing) and they are walking to the farm. I cannot believe that she's walking those kids down a road -- not to mention that Kate has the kids walking on the road itself -- and she said "don't worry, this is a little rural road." The rural PA roads I know are dangerous places and no place I'd want my adult kids walking down.

The kids seem to scream and cry and fight a lot more with Kate than with Jon -- did TLC forget to edit that out?

It might be a little thing but when Kate was telling the kids the cows were big because they ate lots of vegetables, the camera shot to the cows eating feed. Really, she has to lie to her kids about something like that?

The person asking Kate questions wouldn't say Jon's name, instead just would sneer "Him." I just don't get TLC's love affair with Kate.

And . . . perhaps this is the real fitting end to the show . . . as I was watching the end, the screen blacked out for the weekly test of the emergency broadcast system. This disaster is now over. Thank goodness.

That was ridiculous about Aaden. I see a definite pattern here. Why would a mom act like that. Aaden needed her help. I think since she doesn't have Jon she has to be mean to someone. Now I really am going to bed. Z better rest up for live chat tomorrow.

It’s over gang. YEA! Great recaps Z, Kelly and Chrysee.

All I want to say is at the end of this long, drawn out goodbye, as the sad music played in the background and we got to view the Gosselins for the “last time” I could almost hear all the Kate fans sobbing their hearts out. I, on the other hand, cheered. The train wreck has been cleared from the tracks and I will no longer be compelled to stop and stare and then contribute my 2 cents about the carnage.

And this is my very last comment regarding Kate: True to form Kate went into babbling mode at the very end saying not a day goes by that she does not think how Jon should be in the “drivers seat” and she should be in the “passenger seat” and then went on to hint that maybe if “some people” had “stepped up to their role” they’d still be together.
Right Kate, you never crawled down his throat whenever he tried to do anything on his own. Kate (always the controller) may have been in the passenger seat in their van, but she was the driver when the family went to hell. Kate the liar to the bitter end.

One of the last clips showed Kate from a previous episode standing on a rock with her cowboy hat on and she was yelling, “I’m king of the world.”

I laughed… out loud.

You know a friend of mine just sent me this little comedy video about Jon and Kate and it really just totally sums up how I feel about the show.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA0dPS5aamQ

Everyone involved should be ashamed, and that includes TLC, the tabloids, the paparazzi, the american people and our culture as WELL as Jon and Kate Gosselin.

The real victims here, as always, are the kids. What did they do to deserve this? They're lives are the ones getting destroyed

Hey.. did anyone else notice one of the dogs in the long driveway after Farmer Forest dropped them off?

Shows how long ago this was filmed.

One amusing moment (and only one) when the kids commented that the cows were chewing with their mouths open. Kate asked "Is that polite?" as she chomped on her gum..s.with her mouth open.

Oh Z, I see our fine friends at Katedar Online have started to invade *yawn* I've said it a million times before, a war of words is fine (and fun!), I love debating varying opinions. However, dropping in and yelling "JON SUCKS! YOU GUYS SUCK! KATE IS A GODDESS!" will only get a chuckle out of us. I can't "battle" with you on your grounds as ROL has a character count; I probably wouldn't anyway as you guys can't stand anyone who has a different opinion than your own, but feel free to keep up the good fight here. Just use your words, prove to us why you feel the way you do....with truth of course :)

Thank God this farce is over. But the hell that the kids are enduring will only get worse, I fear, because their parents, and particularly their greedy mother, are addicted to fame and money.

I did not watch and will never watch The Licentious Channel EVER again. Kate is an absolute horror of a human being. Jon is clueless, a dufus, an immature person, but he's no match to Kate's narcissism and borderline sociopathy.

I hope the children possess the strength and resilience they need to overcome the damage done by these two jackasses.

Thank you, Z, for being the only journalist with the integrity to report and reflect honestly about this tragedy. You have made me a permanent reader of your blog.

I'm glad I didn't watch from what I read here. But I am very glad this is over for the Gosselin kids.

For all that I dislike the character of Kate on this show, and how she behaves on talk shows and interviews, I do see that editing is everything and that she doesn't really have control of her image. And we don't know the true reality she lives with. But TLC does. TLC has chewed this family up and spit out Jon and thinks nothing of exploiting the children. I agree that they are vile. I hate their programming that exploits children. I hope and pray that public outrage will eventually help define legislation that will protect children on reality programming. (and bankrupt TLC)

Finally over!!!! I celebrated by making Kate's meatloaf that she showed on GMA.
Kate cried it up like she is good at. Slammed Jon like she is good at. Complained how everything has ended too soon and taken from HER and the kids. Whaa Whaa Whaa!! Poor Poor Poor rich Kate. She has plenty of money -- now Kate, go away, raise your kids and leave the portion of the public who once loved you alone!

I absolutely do not believe this show is over. The big hoopla at the so-called end of the series is nothing but a ploy to gauge public opinion and garner support for the Gosselins' future on TLC.

Both Jon and Kate are hooked on fame and easy money (i.e. Jon: "I can go up to Sean Combs and be like 'Hey, Diddy!' and he'll be like 'hey, Jon.'" And Kate at FAO Schwartz: I'm famous "at the moment???")

The Gosselin parents will NEVER give up the spotlight, if they can in any way avoid doing so. Children be damned.

Believe me, I would like nothing better than to see these two buffoons gone from TV and all other media outlets. But I don't see that happening.

Thank you, David Zurawik, for trusting your own eyes and ears, yet allowing us a platform for our small but worthwhile revolution against vapid and insidious television programming. You were our champion when we needed a more powerful voice and you let us tell you the Gosselin story as we knew it.

Your blog reached people who had not found the Gosselin specific boards and you helped us reach out to them with our message. TLC is in the business of making cheap and tawdry television programs by filming people who need money. The need/greed of the Gosselins created the Perfect Storm for their series and SHAME on TLC for using children to provide Internet chatter, ratings, and power to boost their own wealth.

Kate Gosselin, how do you sleep nights knowing this is the legacy you have left your children while BEGGING for it to continue even further? You wanted more of this? You think it ended all too soon? My Lord, woman! The gall you have! The utter disregard you feel for your eight small children is staggering.

I couldn't watch this episode without serious discomfort and I don't even belong to your family, yet you want more? Nothing is ever enough for you and it will never be enough because you are an empty and soulless woman who can not be filled.

Jon, check yourself into a six week day treatment mental health facility. You have surrounded yourself with idiots and users and I see only tragedy in your future without positive and private therapy. You are not a bad man, but you are a lost and depressed man in a boat with only half a paddle. Call Paul Peterson and let his legal team handle TLC. You won't be sorry.

Fellow bloggers, I'll see you at Noon if I wake from a Valium induced coma in time. What an utter waste of eight precious lives. And at what cost?

Pathetic indeed. TLC really outdid themselves.

If that woman told us one more time what "her goals all along" were, I was going to hurl.

How does she say the kids should be home being kids in one breath, and in the next talk about all the opportunities they are going to miss out on now?

Have to be out early in the morning but hopefully I'll be back for the chat. If not, have a great time.

Oh, and Kate's comment about "always seeing the good"...

I nominate this for lie of the night.

Kate wanted a bad boy and she got it. Jon is passive aggressive. He is not masculine at all but tries to be and fails. Kate should have picked someone else, someone of her own race instead of a wannabe. We wouldn't be having this discussion if Kate picked someone better.

A few more thoughts have crossed my mind:

How long before we see Kate pitching an episode on Super Nanny?

Think she will try to air the divorce on Court TV?

Which of the girls will be the first Bachelorette or be seen on Toddlers and Tiaras?

OK.. Back to finding that Valium I was searching for...

Ok, Im a bit confused. These episodes could not have ran in order. This was not the most recently filmed episode with Kate and the kids. When they are leaving to go to the farm or come back, I cant remember, they still have the dogs. I thought they got rid of the dogs a long time ago? Correct me if Im wrong?

Nen: Who's going to protect the kids from Kate & TLC's selfish behavior? Neither parent is putting the kids first no matter how many times they claim otherwise. Their actions speak loud & clear.

As for the last (woohoo!) episode I needed hip waders to watch, holy moly did they ever sling the bs. Besides giving Kate a grammar lesson someone should define the words "fact" and "opinion" and tell her that her opinion does not qualify as a fact. Therefore her "sticking to the facts" means she can't insert her personal thoughts into the statement.

In one breath she complains that Jon never takes the kids anywhere. A moment later she says she doesn't understand why Jon would have to take them anywhere and she'd prefer if they stayed home. Well, which is it Kate? When you have the kids does Jon dictate how & where you spend your time? Shutting down filming doesn't count. His parenting was fine for the 2 years you were out promoting yourself but now that you no longer control him he's a horrible parent?

And Kate's "I'm not sure if he's not taking them out for a photo op" comment - seriously Kate? At least he takes them out without a film crew. How many times has he taken kids to the mall or the movies without a film crew or babysitters? And how many times has Kate? Sorry, I forgot she can't take the kids anywhere now that's there's no film crew. And Kate, if Jon was just taking them out for photo ops I'm sure he'd choose a better place than the movies where cameras are not allowed.

I was stunned by the behavior not only of the kids but of Jon & Kate's reaction to it. Jon did step in where the twins were concerned and punished them (tho I do think it was a bit over the top, no reason why they couldn't have a time out and still participate afterwards). But Kate... that poor kitten, that poor farmer! She let them get away with much more than I'd ever tolerate, especially where a small animal or common courtesy is concerned.

And the walking on the road? What happened to the 200+ cars every day they claimed were invading their privacy? Kate just stated it's a rural road with barely any traffic. And they walked down the wrong side - you're supposed to FACE traffic Kate so you can see it coming. Poor Aaden, being dragged along behind Mommy Dearest wearing cowboy boots.

If anything this episode is excellent proof that the end of this show is long overdue. It's also great footage for Jon's court case - nothing like having his ex slandering him to the world on tape. He can sue for alienation of affection couldn't he? After all, if she's willing to say these things on TV knowing millions will see it, what's she saying to the kids?

Sextuplets, Lies, and Videotapes...

The show could have been called that or the expose or tell-all could be called that.

Whatever... glad it's over; hope it's over for good. And I hope reality TV involving kids is over soon.

I did 'learn' some things watching the show and the sideshows or at least have some things I already knew reinforced. Bottom line though is that I despise TLC and the Gosselin parents and all of the 'players' who played and profited from this. I hope that those in a position to bring about change learned a few things and will put them to good use.

Kate was wondering about Jon's intentions with the lemon aid stand.
What about her intentions? Jon needs help. Kate cannot trust him because he is not attentive to the kids. I like the show, but Kate's actions were as disgusting as Jon't reaction to the divorce. He didn't cheat till February, but the marriage was over in November. Jon is so immature and Kate is just a money hungry actress. I just wish she wouldn't lie so much. I hope the kids get supported and have a happy life.

Lucy (11:23), Kate may be doing the best she can, but that would be so sad because she remains a hypocritical, unenlightened, disparaging witch and a unabashed LIAR. She lies, or at least embellishes, almost everything, and that, sadly, is not an exaggeration. She lies about minutia "(my kids don't know what a Dorito is"), to make herself look better ("I have never and will never have a nanny"), and about huge things ("we decided to try for one more child"). She implies Jon is a bad person/bad father by making vague references to his actions and his decisions without substantiating what it is that is so bad. (She also lies about taking the high road, btw, by bashing Jon nonstop right after she says she would never disparage him). She lied about her plastic surgeries (I've only had a tummy tuck"); okaaay, and those boobs cane from where? She lied about not having enough money to feed her kids when Jon took money out of their joint account. (Amazingly, she had the nerve to cry about this despite the fact that she had done the very same thing. Took money out of that same account and was forced to return it by a judge. Only difference: Jon didn't go on tv and cry about being too poor to feed the kids. Didn't smear her in the press). Oh, I could go on and on. So I must defend Z here. Kate Gosselin is a LIAR. Lies about almost everything, presents things in a way that favors herself. And most of these lies are so transparent and self-serving, yet very few journalists are willing to call her out on her dishonesty. So bless you, Z, for having the courage to say it how it is. Calling a liar a liar does not make him a hater, Lucy.

I love Kate and think she has taken the high road in all of this. The two of them could never had stayed together, regardless of the show, because it's obvious that Kate has matured while Jon remains in the state of arrested development. He's like a lummox waiting for his lawyer, Lohan or anyone to tell him what to do next. I can't stand to see or listen to him. He is
to be pitied. Hopefully he will grow up before his kids do!
He says he feels FREE. Yeah, right...let someone else raise the kids 24/7 while he pops in every now and then when life in the Big Apple gets "too stressful" and he can find peace in "his country home"!

Even if I thought it was true that the kids will miss the cameras, crew, and all the perks provided by TLC, so what? Kids want things that aren't good for them all the time and parents have to be responsible and say no. Doing the right thing as a parent is often hard work and unpleasant but comes with the territory. Deal with it.

The strange thing is that I can see this show returning to TLC next year.
The only reason in my opinion that Jon pulled the plug on the show was that his soon to be ex-wife would get more air-time than him and because she had the kids she would get more of the money. If Jon, Kate and TLC can negotiate a new contract that gives him guaranteed air-time, a set percentage of the money and a long term contract he will agree to the show going back on the air. There would also have to be a child support agreement that he finds favorable and that the court will agree to. Neither Jon nor Kate are really interested in getting real jobs to support the family so they will work out a deal to continue using their children as cash cows.(I had to get a dairy farm reference in there) I am sure that they will negotiate a new deal because they do not want to give up the lifestyle the show and their children gave them.

marieE 11:42 PM,

I totally agree that if Jon was allowed to do a recent interview, his comments would be very different. TLC was so unfair and bias (what's new?).

The editing of the lemonade activity was so done to make Jon look as bad a possible. Surprise TLC didn't blur his "Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies" t-shirt.

Kate on the farm with the kitten, I thought, showed just how starved for camera time she is. If the children were holding the kittens improperly, why not get down to their level and show them how? Very selfish of Kate to hold on to the kittens the way she did. And that stupid comment regarding the milking and now we know how she felt for 6 months. Wah, wah, wah. Sick, selfish, silly woman.

I feel sad for this family. ...They started out with good intentions and with the stress of raising 8 little kids they ran into real problems. I still say when TLC saw what was happening they could have insisted that Kate go with Jon to counseling. If any one of us were in their shoes I doubt if we would have done much better. In watching last night I think Kate would take Jon back in a minute. He of course wants to live a different life. I think he should move back to the area from NYC.That's just too far away from his kids and he should stay away from that immature twit ,Hailey. In time he can find a mature and loving woman who will be good with his kids.I'll miss seeing the kids grow .I think they were adorable to watch and a handful to raise. Wish them well posters, if you were in their shoes could you have done better?

Hi, and thanks for your comment. But those are real children, not TV characters. They do not exist for our entertainment and amusement. They do not exist for TLC to make money of fhem selling macaroni and toilet bowl cleaners. Their private lives should not be shattered for TLC's profits and the misguided parents desire to be celebrities. The posters here do wish them well, and that is why they have tried to get the show and them off TV. Gedtting them off Tv is the best thing anyone can do for them now. The tapes will haunt their lives, however. Thank you, mommy and daddy. Thanks. Z

Just saw the last ten minutes of this blatant manipulation from Kate and TLC for the show to continue. I am just disgusted. These children need their lives back, they need parents who think of them first and they need to get out of the spot light to grow and heal. Kate could not have been more obvious in her crocodile tears that she is desperate for the kids to continue to work to support her through filming their childhood.
I have raised three kids, my son is still home and in High School. Like most every family, we saved for the trips we would take. For most of their childhood I would take my children to the free library story hours, children's museums, parks, etc. Free, educational and most of all fun.
I will not be participating in the live chat today. I am picking up my middle daughter up for Thanksgiving at Cornell, where she is a freshman. I am so proud of her, When she was little, her favorite activity was to play with markers. She never had any red ones for long because that was her favorite color. It didn't matter if she got markers on her clothes, Her play clothes were hand me downs from her cousin and all her clothes were worn for comfort and so she could move in them. All children need to be able to move, explore and learn from "hands on" activities. They need security and love. They don't need to take trips and stay in posh hotels.
Kate was right about one thing. It is over way to soon. Those 8 little children have a family that is over way too soon and in many ways, they have a childhood that never started.

I didn't watch; I couldn't. It's just all too predictable, and too sad. Even when I watch so-called "reality" television, I need to see a glimmer of hope, a tiny bit of optimism, an hint of a happy ending. This poor family self-destructed before our very eyes, and all I see ahead of them all is heartache.

I truly wish, for the sake of those beautiful children, that this really IS "the end" and they can have some semblance of normalcy in their lives; that both parents will somehow find a way to make them feel loved and cherished despite the divorce. I hope the media and the paparazzi back off and leave them alone.

I am done, totally done with this saga... at least until one of the kids writes a tell-all book in the future- I'll be first in line to buy and read!

Were it not for the kids, these two are laughable. I pretty much expected all that I saw, but I think I was most horrified by the Cara and Maddie dismissal when making signs...this following Jon's dribble about being more assertive, standing up for himself...whatever. Of course, Jon is going to practice these new skills with 9-year-olds, not grownups. I think they should both be required to watch some real people parent...

I think the ratings for the finale are going to be messed up.
J & K Plus 8 and Lie to Me were in the same time slot.
How were folks supposed to know the difference?

I think it was a great show....and by the way the only reason Jon ended the show was for spite and his own selfish reasons, he's a big baby... and he looked to me like he was on drugs last night..he makes me ill, Kate is awesome...I hope we see more of her in the future and the kidlets!

Kate is one sadistic cow. Last night's episode proved once again she has ruined her kids. She created sibling rivalry by taking the money makers to the farm and not the twins. She attacked Aaden for complaining about his ill fitting cowboy boots - buck up, be a man, she snarled. How sick is that? Then she let Hannah hold the kitten and then tormented Alexis by keeping the kitten out of her reach - while Kate snuggled with the kitten. This farm is their neighbour and yet she won't take the kids over unless there is a paycheque to be had. I noted the Tups freaked out, yet again, about getting their hands dirty, and the bottles of hand sanitizer were prominent. I noted they only eat organic food/milk when sugar and chocolate syrup is added. What a fraud. And I saw all the Jon digs, the editing skewed to make him look like he was selfish and mean. No, that is Kate's role, one she will never live down. Kate keeps saying she wants her kids to be productive members of society but what evidence has she produced thus far? None. All we see are brats who want, want, want, and need, need, need to be entertained, treated, cajoled and coerced into doing stuff. I am glad this series is over and I hope the Kate show tanks.

Oh my gosh Kate, you actuallly WANT those tapes for your children to see? You'd be farther ahead and it would be better for your children if you just had TLC burn them. Geeze, you are very stupid. Why on earth would you want your kids subjected to seeing you and their father acting so stupidly? And lying? Burn the suckers and maybe you can save money on therapy bills later for your kids. Your idiocy is breathtaking.

Well it went down in a blaze of Kate glory, or more like a ball of fire. The bittersweet boat is finally sank. I had to laugh at Jon's statement. The kids can do what they want there are no more perfect babysitters than a whole group of firemen. I wonder if they would meet Kate's approved babysitter list? It was great. I will have more to say.

I agree with everyone else on the great muscial we were subject to at the end. Typical I guess it went along with Kate's end of the program cry fest.

I have lots of pressing issues today. Planning to be here for the online chat.

Hi Z and everyone - Have a great day.

You, too, Sherry. Thanks for being so steadfast and stalwart. Z

Good Morning Bloggers

Ending song: "The world is watching the choices you make"

***Yes, The Lying channel & Kate that means you too. I wake up everyday & have 8 kids and a husband watch me make choices. And, everything I do can affect my family positively or negatively. That sign you posted TLC @ the beginning of the show. That showed that you only cared about the show. Because you and Kate both said that if either parent wanted filming stopped. So, you lied. And, that was 5 seconds into the finale. Guess what: BOMBSHELL~ Jon is and always will be the father of those kids no television contract or divorce decree or distribution of DEBT will change that.

Sorry Z, I too thought they would save that sign for the last clip but TLC does need their hands amputated because they go straight in for the kill.

Kate: "I am in a completely different boat going a completely different direction"

Really~because I feel like you are out to sink anyones boat who wont go along with your program. No wonder you are up at 1am. You now get to live with the choice......

Hi Irene, You have been absolutely great. And I love the fact that when some of these TLC-sent folks come to this blog and try to lecture us about large families, we have someone like you who can say, "Wait a minute, I think I know something about large families -- and I didn't try to cut all the corners and hustle the table like Kate did." You are right about TLC going right in for the kill, but we knew the sign was coming somewhere, and the point of showing it would be to blame it all on Jon. My headline should have been "Kate and TLC end on blame game." Ha. Live chat at noon. Tomorrow we will poll on TV and media topics we want to focus on at Z on TV to keep this grerat core group talking to each other and all those who read. Thanks. Wait what about GRIFTERS -- no one called Jon and Kate GRIFTERS yet on this post? What's wrong with me, I must be slipping. They are GRIFTERS! There. Z

You know you might actually have to find something newsworthy to write about now that your ... for the Gosselins has come to an end. ...

Edited for crude language. Watching a cable Tv channel tear a family apart before millions of viewers is news as far as this TV and media critic is concerned. This show made history mostly fo all the wrong reasons -- reality TV going too far in invading the private lives of these children. And I will not stop reporting it. In fact, nanny, I am considering a book on this debacle. I think it warrants at least one honest and unauthorized one. This is a milestone TV series -- again mostly for bad reasons, and I think media historians should not allow it to be forgotten. Thanks. Z!

Really, Kate? A job where you could bring your kids to work with you?

I didn't see her kids with her on her book tours, working the talk show circuit, etc. Well, there was that one time when she brought Mady along on one of her SoCA trips...to film an episode. Other than that? I saw a lot of Steve, not so much of her with her kids. (Lucky for them!)

We all know that when she appeared on the Today Show crying about her purse full of bills, the kids had to stay home. After all, if they weren't filming, there was no point in taking them to the Statue of Liberty as originally planned. Apparently, there was no point in spending any time with them if they weren't filming an episode for another "season" of their lives together.

But of course she did it all for her kids. Uh huh. I think I pulled a muscle from rolling my eyes so much.

I could only bear to watch bits and pieces of last night's debacle. The one thing I caught was Kate worrying about whether the kids were safe and protected when they were with their Dad. She certainly wasn't concerned about that when she was out having the time of her life for 23 days at a time and bragged about not calling home. What mother doesn't call to say good night to her kids just to hear their voices and to let them hear hers. TLC should be sued for their treatment of Jon. They took old footage and showed him in the worst possible light when he was at his lowest and Kate never let up on him during her trip down the high road. I could not bear to watch. I tried to catch clips of the kids but everytime I flipped over it was Kate running her mouth. Disgusting.

Then The lying channel advertised how they will destruct more families.

Little People Big world- going to the wild west and flaunted the fact they are having unhappy times right now.

Duggars- showed a snippit of Mom and Dad gone and little ones left to their own devices

Hayes- showed a child being forced to try swimming for the sake of the cameras

Turn about is fair play...The Lying channel it would help you to take some free advice from a mom of 8~~ lay low with these families for a little while because you do not know the 1st thing about how to treat dogs, much less kids.

Scooter56 Kate is a puppet and the lying channel pulled all the strings last night

I didn't watch because the recaps here are more entertaining. TLC needed to show Jon denying one of the kids a popsicle to counteract all the bad publicity Kate received for drinking the water and not giving anything to Mady. Tit for Tat. I'm glad its over. The bloggers should unite and be a force to get these kids off of these reality shows. Z, you are right in calling them vile.

I wish we could have seen a recent interview with Jon. I think the perspective might have been different. I suppose though that TLC wanted to show him in the worst light possible so that was apparently not in the cards. But it would have been nice to see his perspective now that more time has passed.

Also, sorry for the second post, but I neglected to mention this earlier: what was up with the different interview chairs? Jon was sitting on some mustard gold velvety-looking thing, while Kate and the kids were on an ivory chair with some sort of matching ottoman (I think?) beside it.

I realize that, in the context of child exploitation and parental alienation, chairs aren't the biggest concern. But it kept jumping out at me every time they showed Jon in the gold chair and then switched to Kate in the white one.

Maybe they weren't even on the same set, but two different sets made to look like the same one--one had the gold chair and one had the ivory? Maybe Kate destroyed one of the chairs in a fit of Starbucks-fueled rage and they couldn't find an identical chair to replace it? I'm stumped. Any ideas?

Kelly & Chrysee thank you for your keen and funny insights last night to the most pitiful channel around with its most pitiful ***** I have ever seen.

You two hit a grand slam. I will help you BBFs today by being on Kool aide Patrol. Tlc it would be wise to give the interns a day off, because I am fired up, ready, willing and able. For the sake of real moms out there, who love their families unconditionally & not based on the number of filming minutes, I must defend your undefendable stand from any more garbage of Wonderful Kate:::Monster with high heels that is all she amounts to.

I dunno, I thought the last episode, although very predictable, wasn't as horrible as I thought it might get. I'm glad it's over for the kids sake.

That whole farmer schtick thing was too much. I mean it's not like they've never been to a farm before in any other season there Khate...Although it did look like they enjoyed it. I can think back to many episodes (the trip to get the organic side of beef she bought and the dude ranch episode with the boyz etc, etc) and then to exclude the twins...pick a day they aren't in school....

Then there's hypocritical Khate worrying and also questioning via her time (someone should compare the total amount of airtime she had on the show compared to any of the others) about Jon's motives with the lemonade stand... her thinking it was more of a publicity stunt. This from the Queen of publicity stunts and ulterior motives (hello St. Jude and Ronald -minus Jon- Macdonald House, yard sales of all things that were given to you for free) but I digress. This from the woman who clearly knew her marriage was falling apart/failed yet still was hoping to take a family trip to Korea? Project much there Khate. Accuse Jon of doing exactly what you do/have done for years.

And yes the hypocrisy of her telling Aaden to "be a man" because he got tired being dragged down the street walking a mile. Yes, brilliant Khate, he's 5 years old, but lordy bee, you then go on to remind them how you're so wonderful because you do this on the treadmill everyday...(yes it' always comes back to you )..and this from the mouth of a woman who is the the role model for adult meltdowns and whining (hello that airplane couldn't safely land it was too snowy and what did you expect when little kids eat icecream at Disney in 90 degree weather, the icecream will melt Khate) ...yes Aaden "be a man" only Mommy has the right to whine and complain.

Okay, one more last comment. Anyone see the clip of Khate in training, Mady, say point blank to Jon during the preparation for the lemonade stand (they were making signs), "I like the stuff we do with Mommy better". Yup TLC went there. Yes Mady, now we all know that you much prefer trips to the spa where you can get pampered, and can have manicures and pedicures (which is fine for her if they can afford it-its certainly not something I would indulge my own kids in at their age, but hey to each his/her own) but...this kid is very perceptive and knows what's going on and she has some major issues. She's already obviously very skilled at working/playing her parents against each other. Please, get her some counseling...she's struggling I'm sure...I mean look at her role models. One parent who thinks she's some sort iconic super hero just because she's the parent to 8 kids and another whose just finally said enough of this, after being publicly humiliated, badgered, and disparaged for years by the former.

That's all for now. I'll look forward to the live chat later.

Hi Thanks for popinting out TLC using the line from Mady. That's what I mean about taking unfair advanmtage of kids. Of course, kids say stuff like to parents when they angry and hurt. Most don't have it on videotape for the rest of their lives. Thanks. Z

nanny~~you are kidding right? Please go straight to Eileens Oneills office and tell her : They used over 100 episodes to exploit children, use parents, defame the father: lie to the viewers, make huge profits there is going to be alot more analysis of this like Z said.

Yes, Z, write the book. Send me a release and you can use anything I wrote or thought.

Z, have you heard what the ratings for that sham of a finale are?

Not yet, Lynda. But I am on it. Live chat at noon today. Maybe I'll have by then. Thanks. Z

Z,

I really think you should write that book. I will be first in line to buy it. It has been a fascintating in sociology as well as TV "reality" show history and no one better than you to tell the story. Don't forget to give credit to all of the commenters. We love the blog.

I am running off to check the animal shelter and off to work, see everyone in a little while.

Hello everyone,
I don't know if this has been stated but Kate and her fans stating that the end of filming will be traumatic for the kids has been proved false as the TLC filming stopped weeks ago and the public has seen photos of the children almost daily and they don't look very traumatized in them. They look like normal, healthly kids enjoying a life without TLC filming it. Kate's arguement that loosing the TLC film crew would severly impact them is now moot . If they are affected it is because they have heard her tell how they would or should act. Remember the show stopped filming weeks if not months age and life has gone on since then without signs of distress other than their mother dragging them out for any photo op she can use to her advantage. As a parent myself I certaintly would have pulled out and moved someplace where we could live within our means, bucked up and got a job to support us on a lower style but still sufficient. Kate wants to continue to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous but it is at the expense of the children.

LOL . . . good one PJ

An interesting thing happened between me and my children (19 and 17) yesterday evening while I was making dinner. I had sent my son to the bank to ask for a temporary check so he could write me a check for some money he owed me. He's new to banking and in my haste, I assumed he knew what he needed to get at the bank. Both he and my daughter returned upset. My son didn't have the temporary check and when I questioned him about it he got increasingly upset explaining that the teller told him he'd have to order checks himself. I also started to get upset and before long we were arguing and both kids went to their rooms upset. I took a deep breath and called them both down to the kitchen. I told them both that everything was okay. I apologized for getting upset and told my son not to worry about the check and that I would go to the bank with him tomorrow (today) and we'd get it taken care of together. I also apologized for assuming he knew what I needed from him and not explaining in more detail. I told them both that we were going to have a good evening and I didn't want us upset over something not worth the energy. Five minutes later, my son came down and apologized for getting mad at me. A few minutes later, my daughter did the same thing.

My point of this story is our children learn how to react to situations by how they see us react.

J&K really need to take huges steps back and look at the examples they're setting for their children.

Yes, former J&K+8 fan you nailed that one. My kids have and would say anything to get their way for the moment. And, that is no lie. My husband, ex husband and I fight those battles on a daily basis. We joke sometimes that we have to stand united or the South will rise again in this house.

Z is right, now that will be on You tube and all over the place.

One of the statements I heard out of Kate's mouth last night was, "I am having experiences in adult life: the kids are getting to do it as kids: it really works for us."
Newsflash bombshell, anything you do that causes your children this much embarrassment & shame, pressure, wrecks your marriage, makes you someone your parents did not sacrifice a christian education(Kate I know how much the Kreiders sacrificed. I was parochial educated.)for, alienates family and good friends (Kevin, parents, Beth) is not a good, healthy experience any adult or especially child should have.

Sure, I want to travel, I want to have a home of our own someday. But, not at al at the expense of our 8 children and their self esteem or their childhood. They get one childhood. One...your show all 100+ edited lies is a testimony of everything not to do as a parent.

I'd be crying too if I had 8 children and a total jerk of a husband who has walked out on me so he could be 'FREE'. Oh yeah, and losing a million dollar a year salary and oh I forgot neither one of them have a job! WOW! Jon was in court a couple of weeks ago and they actually asked him why he didn't have a job and he said, "I'm too famous to have a regular job". Yes Kate we all know why you are crying.

I love the show. I will miss watching. ...

Everyone who say that it's both of there faults it's life. How were they to know that there marriage was going to go down. Everyone needs to leave all of them alone. Someone put down that john is a ass because of what he did with cary and mady when they were making the posters for the lemonaide i would of done the same thing to my daughter if she acted like that.

nancybee there is no evidence that either walked out on either. This was a marriage that was not ready for the pressure of 8 children and a unreal reality show. Period. It imploded and Kate is as much to blame as Jon.

Kate tears are aldergator tears about not getting her way. I am sure she never dreamed Jon could put the brakes on this the way he did.

There are no winners here, just a mess involving 8 kids. That is who I shed my tears for.

Oh, it wasn't all that bad. You should see my life!!

http://www.thereporteronline.com

Seems that the bill payer, (cough cough) I mean Kate, has not paid the $2700 water bill on the old house and now there is a lein against it.

Oh, the tangled lies we lie

When are these people who keep saying they are going to miss the show and watching the kids grow up going to get a clue..... These are NOT your children they are NOT actors and they DESERVE their privacy. Kate is NOT a single mother she is NOT doing it all on her own. Whatever Jon's motives were does not matter he IS their father and has every right to pull HIS children off of TV.

These kids childhood should not be put out there for public consumption and now that it has been pulled (except of course for the re runs that will haunt them forever!!)give them some peace and quiet they have earned at least that as they didn't get paid for anything else

TLC really did a number on Jon and making him look like a total JERK.

People don't realize what TLC can do in editing. They LOVE KATE, why I don't know I think she is a Horrible Person. Don't care for Jon either.

Glad the show is over.

z,
Amen to your response Posted by: mmc @ 6:07 AM. I totally agree. The Gosselins are not TV characters and we have no right to a front row view of their lives spinning out of control.

cathy 518 @ 6:37 AM,
Your comment: "Those 8 little children have a family that is over way too soon and in many ways, they have a childhood that never started," brought tears to my eyes. You are so right and those folks who think the show should continue for their entertainment have to be heartless.

For Kate and others who believe that without the show they would have missed out on many opportunities, I say "So what". Luxury hotels, ski trips, beach vacations, million dollar homes, crooked houses don't define a person. So what!! I would bet any amount of money that those children would trade every trip and "adventure" for more time with mom and dad. Besides, maybe God had something better in store for that family, and they chose the wrong door. Who knows? No one does. Did selling her soul for material things make Kate's life better? No, husband, family, friends. Can't raise her own children. Ridiculed, mocked, belittled on national TV. Are those designer shoes and spa trips worth it?

To all the other TLC families I say, run, run like the wind as far as you can from TLC. And don't look back. You might just turn into a pillar of salt. Or worse yet, Kate Gosselin.

I just want to thank Z, Kelly, Chrysee for the write up and the rest of the crew for such an entertaining look at this show. I've never seen an episode (which is why I rarely post) but I found the whole thing very interesting(the media vs bloggers, child labor issues, legal manuvers, etc) and this blog offered such nice insights. I actually came across the blog because I live in Baltimore and so I check the Sun on occasion at work.

One other thing, Z can you look at the post:
Magnus | November 24, 2009 1:51 AM

I find the racial references kind of disturbing and uncalled for so if you could take a look and see if it's just me.

Thanks all for this and hopefully we'll see some Congressional action to prevent this kind of exploitation in the future.

There's nothing that I can add that hasn't already been said about this nightmare of a show. However, I have to add that I couldn't stop laughing at the sight of Alexis TAKING that kitten away from the farm and the poor farmers wife chasing her with a hand on the cat, looking for some f$#&ing help from the child's mother...which she received none. Just an over the shoulder "we're not taking the cat" comment from WAY off camera. Still no physical intervention for the poor farmer's wife. Clearly the kids, after watching Mommy, are accustomed to getting (and just taking) whatever it is that they want.

FREE THE GOSSELIN EIGHT!!!

Barb- Sextuplets, Lies and Videotapes was the perfect title for last night's fiasco.

I knew TLC was setting us up for a trainwreck when I saw the countdown in the corner of the screen during the marathon of sadness.

TLC and Kate have not only thrown Jon under the bus, they've backed up and run him over and over. This is the legacy a "family oriented company" has left for the Gosselin 8.

The couch footage of Jon was awful. He was sweating and rambling more than I have ever seen him.

Kate's couch sessions were even worse. Almost every word out of her mouth was a cliche or a lie. Yes sheeple your queen Kate Gosselin is a LIAR.

I'm glad this is the end (for now) of Jon and Kate Plus 8.

Thanks to Z, Kelly and all the wonderful bloggers for your sharp wit and overflowing concern for children in reality tv.

Folks,

Again here is a place we need to be reading and seeing if we can rally around - a LEGAL TREATISE on National Legislation to Protect children in reality television:

http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1452986

This professor of Law GETS IT - and she worked out the logistics of a law that could be enacted - The Gosselin Law.

Z - I too am willing to be quoted for a future book and happy to assist with research.... these grifters deserve to be fully exposed.

The sheeple are too willing to drink the koolaid still...not me.

Yes Z, DO write the book. You are in a better position to dig up the true story than most of us out here...I for one, will be first in line to purchase it, and I'll bet it will be a best seller

"Too much exposure and the fame-seeking actions of the Gosselins have led many people to be annoyed and ashamed of them"

A statement by a regular home town newspaper about one of their very own.

I'm holding you guys responsible, I watched it.. I broke my own rule about no TLC on in my house, so I suppose I'm not a ruler follower. At her defense, I really think there has got to be something way wrong, no one in their right mind says the things she says. The funniest part to me is when, once again defending that the show gave her and the kids all these opportunities, they got to travel all over the world. Does she realize there are other continents than the one we live on. The whole thing with TLC and kate taking stabs at Jon shows their mentality. That will come back to bite them. She is such a typical narcassist, she thinks if she SAYS something it makes it so. How can she sit there and say she's in a different boat than Jon. I don't care what boat she thinks shes on bc its got a big fat hole in the bottom. The part that they chose to air with the twins having a tiff, was so low. I do think Jon handled it fine, that was Kates protocal all along, so if she was trying to make him look bad it only reflects back to her. You guys covered everything else, but I got to thinking about her saying the whole thing about her kids wouldnt have been able to do all this without cameras in their face for over 100 episodes in two years, how sad is that. I come from and am a middle income household and I assure we did as much if not more than those kids did. So the fact that she wouldn't have taken her kids to the neighbors house with the cows, unless she had a film crew along, is crazy. I thought that all seemed rather chaotic myself, she used to expect them to act a little more orderly before all this went to head. I once again feel the need to defend Z and my blogger friends, against the post from people saying we shouldn't judge and she's doing the best she can. Well first of all I have never read at this blog anyone judging the eternal end for Kate, no one has that right. What we all have a responsiblity to do is not look the other way when in fact something is being done that is WRONG at many levels. Every expert who has spoken about this situation has said the same thing. Yes no one is perfect and we all make mistakes, but the huge difference is most people rectify it quickly, there is no excuse for that show to have aired through this divorce or for either parent not to have protected those kids, and if they couldn't figure it out. TLC should have.

In the second paragraph, he says, "to" instead of, "too".

Now that the series has ended, will Kate think: What good is having all these kids if no one is going to notice ME? I think she will resent her children and their needs because they are no longer useful to her and aren't fulfilling her needs.

Kate, here's a lesson you can learn from someone more famous than you:

Mrs Jacqueline Kennedy said: "If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do matters very much.” Mrs Kennedy also said: "There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all".

Wow, no mention of yachts, trips abroad, ski vacations, private schools, expensive clothes, FAO Swartz.

Hmmmm, fancy that. Books of all things. Speaking of which, Z, I can't wait to read yours.

Z, in response to your response to nanny's post, how can I pre-order a copy of your book?

you rock :)

My heart goes out to Kate .. I feel sorry for how the world is looking down on her and I only wish her the best as she begins this new journey in life ..

I actually watched most of it. I FFWD through a good deal of it because I simply don't have that much patience for it. I agree mostly with Kelly's summary.

The truth is neither of these people like parenting. They love the kids, but parenting is messy and disorganized and time-consuming and expensive and just plain hard work, and they simply don't love the kids enough to make up for what they hate about being parents. I'm glad the kids are finally off TV, but their little lives are not going to get any easier just because the cameras are gone. They have to grow up with those 2 monsters as parents and that's bad enough by itself.

I'd buy a book that exposed all of the disgusting aspects of the show and back story in which the Gosselin children were exploited. I want the full heat on those who used them for money and ratings (the parents, the media, the advertisers). I want the dots connected and shown for all that cannot or choose not to see the web of exploiters. I want this exploitation of children to never occur again.

Kriss by spring of 2010 you can see the Reading Pinhead on a Lying Channel near you.

Marilyn you are right on..but Kate & Jon have let the amount of Google's go to their head and it is just not comfortable or a normal thing to do for them. I mean actually converse with the children without a camera or a photographer and resolve conflict.

Heck, Kate admitted it last night. She wants Jon to stay home and keep her kids on the Katepound. This man is going to have a long 15 years trying to raise these kids with her.
Who is she to say he cannot leave the Katepound? Heck, for the past 2 years while she was galavanting around with the bodyguard....she is a work of The Lying channel. You might as well make a Gosselin doll out of her that says, "I do anything for a camera!"

Hey nancybee at 9:22 AM.

Why can't Kate get a regular job? And forget the line regarding not able to support a family on a RN's salary. My son is a RN and so are several of my friends. They all have been supporting families both large and small quite well. With Kate's talent for coupon clipping and bargain hunting and portion rationing, she should have no problems. And the kids are in school so no need for 24/7 babysitting. Plus I know girlfriend Kate has some savings stashed away. Eleven bank accounts can't all be empty.

Why does Kate cry about Jon leaving, when she told him to go? I just can't wrap my brain around that one, nancybee.

Nancybee, where did you come up with this bit of disinformation: Jon was in court a couple of weeks ago and they actually asked him why he didn't have a job and he said, "I'm too famous to have a regular job". Stop, don’t tell me, ROL, right?

I doubt you’re interested, but here’s the “reality” - In an affidavit filed as part of the lawsuit in Maryland, Gosselin said, "Now, I find myself unemployed and without the ability to secure non-entertainment related engagements because the enormous media interest, cameras, reporters and public interest makes it impossible to carry on normal daily activities, let alone find, secure and maintain a job with an employer who is willing to be exposed to the daily Media intrusions that has impeded by life."

Nancybee, he was not asked in court. Maybe the big word “affidavit” got you confused, along with getting all your “facts” from Radar On line.

I could not help but notice that t-shirt Jon had on last night..Lies.....Lies.......Lies........Lies. He is such a moron that he would appear on national tv in front of his children in such a negative way. Does anyone remember when the show first aired how he explained before he met Kate he was just wandering around Europe and really didn't know what he wanted to do and was so appreciative of Kate to steer him in the right direction. Job...right! He will never amount to anything. Kate was wise to move on.

I'm glad it's over with. I'm sick of both of them.

Fast forward to 5 years in the future: Kate and the kids are doing ok..not perfect, but ok. She's managed to weather the criticism and slowly shrinking funds from her time with TLC, and has found a job in the tv industry, perhaps not in front of the camera, but in there somewhere. Money is tight, but hey, that's life.

Jon...where is he? He isn't. Poor ol jonboy played the bigshot for a month or two, but as the money for wild parties where he could buy women ran out, he folded into fetal position and played the ultimate mantrum: ... Hailey left him..other girls left him, till the only women in his life were those stupid enough to believe that he had a tv deal 'in the works' somewhere. The end for Jonboy isn't pretty, but at least the world is a better place. As for the kids? Kids are resiliant. The Gosselin kids will survive, although they will be marked by their parents' past run-ins with fame. They'll grow up, and the older girls will eventually give their own version of the Gosselin TV saga. As for the little ones? Not too many of us remember in detail, what transpired when we were 5. So a lot will fade from memory. My wish for them all is a good life, with characters that have survived the media blitz.

Good luck Kate and the kids. Good riddance, Jon..you deserve to crash and burn. I wonder if you will learn at the very end that Life's Not All About You.

Edited for a description that some might find offensive. Z

I'm at a loss for words - was the trip to the farm & the kids milking cows a metaphor for Kate & TLC milkin' the kids for all their worth?

I, for one, will be looking forward to that poll of future topics. I think the Gosselins have far outstayed their welcome and hope that discussions can begin about people more worthy of our attention.

Z writes: "Jon is an idiot, adolescent, self-absorbed, low-life fool of a fool. But he is not a bad person for taking his kids off TV" he then goes on to say that Kate was "pimping" out her kids.
And now we hear a tape (Radaronline) where Jon confessed that he "put his kids out there for every pedophile to see and they didnt get paid for it"....Who's pimping now, Z? Youve made excuse after excuse for this sicko and now its out there for the world to see. Jon KNEW pedophiles were taping his kids in droopy diapers and being bathed and wearing scant swimsuits while wiggling around. He knew what was going on...He's just mad that HE didnt get money for it.
Then you write that TLC showed footage that put Jon in a bad light...TLC didnt make Jon scream at Mady & Cara while they made his stupid lemonade stand signs, telling them, after all their work to put their signs in the trash and go to their room and that they couldnt go to the lemonade sale. Jon did that because he's a hot head and terrible father. And I believe the reason Mady & Cara have been on camera so little the past few shows is becasue they would look into the camera and spill the beans about some of the crap their dad has been doing. Kate: "Everybody sit down and eat their ice cream!" Cara & Mady: "Oh, shall we eat it next to the tree where Daddy smoked the joint yesterday?" Kate: "Come on kids, time for a nap!" Cara & Mady: "Ooooh! I dont want to sleep there, where Daddy and his girlfriend were doing naughty things to each other".
Yes, Joel, "Daddys have weiners" and Daddys has been getting alot of use by whores right in front of the kids. Thank God Kate got custody! Jon didnt even WANT custody in any form. Like he said last night, He just wanted to be "free" and to "chill". What an embarrassment to the human race he is. I doubt Z will have the guts to print this. Its too full of truths.

Z--- please write the book! It will be the only thing I will buy with the Gosselin name in it! It will be a very interesting book I am sure!

Thanks Marie, I didn't think anyone got my little joke.
Actually they should call the J & K show Lie to Me, but that title's already taken.

I have wondered whether Kate lets her kids even see these episodes, because of all the adult content between her and Jon. Hearing her say she's grateful (Grateful!) it is all on tape forever is fairly appalling. Yes, I guess she does show the kids, and will be showing them forevermore (until they can get the he** out of that house). Kate has thrown down the gauntlet: she will be blaming Jon in perpetuity, playing the blame videotapes when she is not there to utter the words herself. And the kids will be hearing it over. And over. And over. Wow. Really sad.

DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT jON SEEMED STRUNG-OUT ON SOMETHING WHILE IN THE CHAIR?

I wonder if TLC did that on purpose.

Sorry about the caps

TLC and Kate were protecting their "brand" last night as usual. Anyone that supports TLC in their actions against Jon is taking food/support away from the children.
I'm surprised Kate didn't try to check if the dairy cows had brands, so she could brand her own moneymakers.
Kate, got milk?

Nancy...I think you didn't hear the news about how Kate kicked him out. Had him sleep in the basement - then the garage apt, just to keep up with the charade of a marriage for the sake of the TV show...not the sake of the kids.
Jon is no Knight in Shining armor, but he's genuine...with all his faults. Kate on the other hand doesn't know what the real-ist of real reality is.

For those viewers who enjoyed this show, please consider if you would want to expose your own childrent to cameras in their faces so that total strangers could watch them, because the kids are"cute", a "handful" or whatever other excuse you've used for watching this trainwreck.

These children have been treated like performing seals in a circus and I think that it is shameful.
It seems clear to me that at some point both parents enjoyed the perks that began coming their family's way because of the series and lost sight of the the fact that there are eight small children who actually need parents who are willing to put the childrens' welfare and happiness ahead of the truly fleeting fame that is 'reality' TV.

Minor children need to be protected from media-crazed parents.

Sorry I missed the chat (had to work and all that!) - Z, I truly hope you are considering the book. You need to connect with the lady who is running Preesi's blog since she has a complete copy of the ORIGINAL "sixgosselins" website - that shows how much they begged for stuff.

Amazing how they come and put Khate on the altar.

I saw a portion of this debacle, but couldn't stomach the entire episode. What I did see and would like to point out as another hypocritical comment by Kate is the whole safety issue.
She is trying to make Jon look horrible again (oh, wait I thought she was a high-road taker) by stating that she is concerned about the children's safety when they are with him. Cue to TLC cut to scene of him "selling" lemonade at the fire dept. and the kids just standing around the paparrazzi and strangers. Snort - as if their safety was any better off when she was dragging them a mile down the HIGHWAY with strangers leering at them, paparrazzi just as close and not to mention cars whizzing by at highway speed. Then she tries to justify that by stating that she was OK with the paps there at that time because they were protecting them from cars passing by blah, blah, blah. Her double standards, hypocrisy and way of speaking are grating.
Also, if she was not a persistent control freak and needed to hold every single child's hand then there really wouldn't have been as much crying, whining and 5 yr olds being told to man up.
Holy cow! - that woman is just so so vile and I sincerely hope that those 8 children get some therapy stat or they are all going to end up like Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears - TIMES 8!

Based on the rude behavior the Gosselin children exhibited in last night's series finale, the end could not have come soon enough. These kids are miserable, and it shows! "Please" and "thank you" are words these children do not know, as Jon and Kate are too self absorbed and desperate in their greed to actually teach these kids some manners. Jon did attempt to use a bit of discipline when the twins were acting out, but it will take a lot more than that to fix the underlying problems. I understand that this spoiled behavior is due to the poor parenting they have received (or haven't received, since Kate is always gone on press tours for no reason and Jon lives 3 hours away) , but it is also due to the public humiliation of the divorce and the never ending antics of their loud mouthed obnoxious parents. What these kids need now is privacy and stability....and a lot of counseling. I hope their parents can finally see that they are ruining their kids lives, and make a change to get back on track to raising a healthy, happy family. Good bye Gosselins, I wish you luck and I hope to never hear from any of you again.

The thing that Jon & Kate fail to realize is that there are parents of seven and eight kids who have managed to raise them well, out of the spotlight, on "regular" salaries. The Dilleys, The McCaugheys, The Headricks, and The Chukwus come to mind.

I can't believe that Kate was complicit in the trashing of her husband and children's father on TV... which will last forever. Her kids will see both how she and TLC treated their Dad. Not only will they see it once... but it will be watched over and over again.

Shame.

So, glad the Gosselin Eight are Free! So sad, that they're stuck with Jon and Kate for the rest of their lives. Let's hope the Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin, Beth, Jon's Mom and brothers, are all part of their lives now.

Any one with a brain could see where this was headed. Kate was going to look good and Jon was going to be shown any way TLC chose. TLC's attempt at showing Jon as the bad guy failed. It was way past time to put a stop to the twins being brats.TLC chose the wrong time to air it. If Kate wanted Jon to ever come back she made sure it was over with this last shot at him. Im sure she had a hand it how the program was edited. Myself I think her walk down the country road was more dangerous than Jon taking the kids to the firehouse. Kate wondering if what Jon did was a publictiy stunt was just her wishing she had thought of a better one. It's how they have made their money for the last five seasons on TLC. If the paparazzi didnt follow them all around TLC would have dropped them years ago, everyone knows that. Kate is the kind of person that isnt going to go away, we as a society wont let her no matter how much we dont like what she does. All we can do is hope that whatever she does she leaves the tups out of it. As for the twins I hope she saved enough money to get them the help they need so badly.

Unflippinbelievable of all the ridiculously ridiculous stuff I read.....

http://tunedin.blogs.time.com/2009/11/24/the-morning-after-whats-good-for-the-gosselins/?xid=rss-topstories

Time magaizine James Poniewozik needs a southern style~slap~in~the~shoulder~Gosselin~style what a media world this is. Writers in bed with big Corporations that get to make all the phone calls and get Kate Gosselin Monkey munch if they write a bunch of crap for The Lying channel.

Read it bloggers for yourselves. I want to address one line, "Because I was always concious that of the 2 parents, only one of them-Kate-represented a brand that the network had incentive to protect at all costs"

Boy are you sure full of the Dr Phil~I~do~it~all~for~the~brand.
I do not know who you are James P. or where you are coming from with this article. But, if Kate's side of the brand is something worth having invite her to do some freelance work for you. Then see how a bossy, belingerant, grifter, who cant speak words from a dictionary, who will have her bodyguard 2 feet away, is something that the average American Mom wants to aspire to. The Lying Channel wants to win a lawsuit so they can have control over children, children whom made them a very rich player in the cable world. I hope those kids sue someday....and I do not believe in litagation. But, I will be around to donate when they come of age.

Ummm,

Where did the live chat take place? lol
I know I'm tardy to the party, but even if I'd been on time I wouldn't have known where to find ya'll.

Z, wonderful recap! My husband taped the final episode for me last night and I watched it this a.m. It was sickening! I was especially disturbed by the comments Kate made about having to "drive the bus." What a joke! She started this mess and Jon fell right into it with his antics being caught by the reporters. "Refer to the first interviews by Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin."
Kate must be the "golden girl" for TLC. Do you believe a show starring her will ever happen?
These two are so pitiful and such horrible grifters! Jon is still more sympathetic in my view than Kate. No one enjoys watching someone being "run over" by a bully!
To my fellow bloggers, my dear brother was rushed by ambulance to a hospital last night, very ill after Colon Cancer surgery (his fourth in a year). Please pray.

TLC doesn't have to make Jon look like a jerk - he does that on his own. But I don't like Kate either. Let's face it. It was a bad relationship and I am glad the state of Pennsylvania is allowing them to get away from each other before they kill each other!

Z, did you hear that Kate was one of Barbara Walter's ten most fascinating people of 2009? It never ends.

Sorry I had to miss the live chat. Work called . . .

I was thinking about Jon and his behavior during the lemonade stand thing and was really struck by the contrast between that and his taking the kids to the ball game. How much of this activity was forced on Jon and the kids and how much TLC goaded them into bad moods. It was obvious there was a lot of editing done to make Jon look like an uncaring monster father.

Not saying that Jon doesn't have a lot of growing up to do, but at least he was honest, even with editing, in his interviews. While I don't condone it, I've heard plenty of divorced men (and women) talk about that same sense of relief and freedom, especially when in a marriage where you are beaten down by the spouse.

As for the tapes of the show, better to burn them immediately. The reality is, the tups will remember virtually nothing of most of the years they were taped, and letting them watch as they grow older could be catastrophic. I mean, can you imagine how those kids will react when they realize this wasn't mom just telling embarrassing stories and showing embarrassing pictures to your friends, but millions of people witnessed your toilet training and other private moments.

As for Cara and Maddy, the girls should be in therapy now, if for no other reason but to help them deal with the divorce. I suppose, though, going to school on Tuesdays will be a lot easier for them now.

So why aren't you all putting her through the ringer for feeding her children RAW MILK last night?

Wow, your post was quite racist, I would say.

So, throughout all the episodes and all the blog postings and all the interviews by both kate & jon, the ONE reason you use for the demise of the marriage is that kate didn't marry " her own race"?

GOOD LORD!

So, what we should take from your post is that only white American men make good husbands and fathers? Ok, got it.

People like Magnus actually make Kate Gosselin look good!

another Kateism: "..my goal has really been to remain neutral when stating facts about him (to the kids)"

Ohhhhh yeah, that's a good one.

I know its after the fact, but I wish that Jon had told TLC that he didn't want any comments from him in the finale unless they were UP TO DATE comments. I'm sure Kate was still practicing her answers up until final edit time. Jon's comments were from August.

Another thing... Ms Kate, I'm sure the farmer down the road milks his cows on the weekends. Why did you pick a day that only the six kids could go? You even said that the twins ask every single day when THEY will get to go to the farm. Here's an idea, the girls are 9 years old, I'm sure Farmer Forrest would enjoy having the 2 girls visit, you don't even have to STAY with them. Just drive (or drag by foot) them down the street and pick them up later.

Oh wait..what's that you are mumbling?... TLC won't film on weekends? Ohhh ok.

Kate, you say that you never wanted Jon out of the "driver's seat and you were happy in the passenger seat"? When, WHEN was this man ever the driver of that family? You sure pulled out all stops in putting total blame on your husband for all that went wrong in your marriage.

Horrible woman.. horrible wife.. horrible mother.

A poster above remarked about why did the edits show Mady saying she had more fun with Mommy?

Well, my guess is TLC wanted to show that Jon doesn't even make his kids happy, much less his wife.

Anyone with kids knows that they say things like that all the time. Not only kids from divorced families, kids in loving 2 parent families are spiteful and know what to say when they are hurting or unhappy.

It was clear that Mady & Cara were not happy making the posters and probably had already told that to Dad. Jon was obviously not thrilled during that segment (we all know he didn't want to film anymore) and TLC jumped on his reaction to Mady, when he told her go in the house, she is unappreciative.

This little girl has gotten such a short end of the stick in so many episodes. Her self-esteem must be rock bottom.

Anyone who thinks Kate is a good mother only has to google MADY GOSSELIN and see the thousands of sites that appear. 99% of them are mean and hateful towards this child.

How can a parent know this stuff exists and yet still insist that the show is "good for the family and they will miss it?

Geeeeez.. my head feels like Z's today.

I'm with you, Matt K. Magnus' post was racist. I also could not bear to watch yet another Kate spinfest. I detest Jon, as well, but this woman is the most narcissistic, nasty, lying, self-deluded witch. The pair of them shouldn't be allowed to raise a gerbil, let alone 8 children. I feel so sorry for the twins, who are made to feel redundant at every turn by both parents. Both parents are celebrities in their own minds, absolutely intoxicated by attention. Every time I see these two, I just want to take a long bath. Watching people so shamelessly pimp their kids makes everyone else feel dirty, too. Kate and The Liar Channel keep sinking to new lows in trashing Jon on camera, as they prattle on about how their kids will always have these memories on tape. Oh, please! Who the hell needs tapes of their parents stomping each other into the ground? Some memories! When I think of how many people struggle to get by, then see Kate crying poverty when she has a 6-figure fluid account, I want to slap some sense into her. She's had her hand out for so long, she can't remember how real people live. The Gosselins raised those kids to be as selfish and grasping as they are. When I hear Kate talking about the environment, I could gag. Does she realize the huge carbon footprint of all those plastic toys, containers and packages? From all you've written, and thank you for saving me the horror of sitting through one more second of these debacles, I plan to continue boycotting TLC. The faster we pass a national law banning children from appearing in reality shows, the better.

Sandi...opinions are like ***holes everyone has one!

1st of all the terms of the divorce are not a matter of public record yet. We will see how much Kate has her kids when her new Show with the lying channel starts.

2nd~ the exact trash you are writing about in your post is exactly why the BBF bloggers of Z on TV wanted these children off TV a long time ago. Sure it was fine to have Jon at home when it suited Kate and she was running around with a bodyguard 22 days out of the month. It was fine then for the kids to have their every moment edited by the biggest lying channel to hit cable.

Thank you for your comment. I will let a few of my other BBF bloggers have a piece out of your post. Get~r~done well done for us here.

Jeanne I have to say something or I will choke.

I hope to god for the sake of those 8 children nothing like that happens to Jon~that is their father you are talking about. See another reason children should not be on reality shows.

My hunch is that 5 months from now, Jon will be living in the garage apartment taking care of the kids while their mom is trapsing around the country with a silver haired bodyguard 22 days out of the mom.

Re the Mady comment - don't forget she was the one who said "I like Daddy better" during the live CBS interview, so yes, it's just a child reacting b/c she's not getting what she wants right then. Unfortunately, her comments get broadcast on national tv.

I just watched last night's episode. One of the worst moments for me (besides all of Kate's lies) was when she snatched the kitten out of one of the girls hands (now it's mommy's turn, she said) and set off so much screaming and whining I had to turn the volume down on my computer. She was so pleased with herself as she completely ignored her children (as usual) and spoke to the cameramen.

Other horrible moments: Kate saying it's a PR stunt when Jon takes the kids places (you could never interpret her outings that way, right?) and talking about how the kids never drink a ton of milk b/c it's expensive (and her daily latte isn't?) and last, but not least, the only time she showed true emotion was when she cried that the camera would no longer be on her and her "opportunities" were gone.

GOOD RIDDANCE!

Brian at 10:43am I wish you would think about something other than Kate: Maybe the Tlc executives can get you guys to start typing about the kids and wishing them well INSTEAD of talking about KATE.

That boat floated

Irene- re: the link to the unpaid water bill - Wowzers, that's a huge mortgage payment they've saddled themselves - or I should say their children with. It's sooo obvious they bought the McMansion thinking their scam would last forever. It looks like they planned to keep those kids working for a long long time.

@ Sandi | November 24, 2009 11:46 AM. Your post was full of half-truths and venom.

When I read what Jon said about the pedophile, I never got the impression that Jon nor Kate deliberately set out to expose their children to perverts. In true Jon fashion, he could not articulate clearly what he was trying to get across. In my opinion. I thought he was being remorseful and now he realizes the result of the bad decision to put the children on TV. Jon is not a terrible father. But you sound like you are emotionally attached to Kate and quite bitter.

Finallyover, I LOVED your post. So true and appropriate.

marieE I know how you feel.

And, to think Kate thinks that this all ended too soon for the kids.

I cannot imagine my children being put in a day of the shoes of a Gosselin child.

Z is considering writing a book about J&K?

...

I watched, sadly. I was dumbfounded when Kate's tears were only for losing the show.... she had none for her marriage or her chidrens' father.

What a vacuous, shallow, selfish, narcissistic woman.

Z, did you hear that Kate was one of Barbara Walter's ten most fascinating people of 2009? It never ends.

__________
yes, but wasn't s. hussein one a few years back as well???

Comments like Jeanne's @11:25am. I cannot let this go.

I wonder if Kate wishes her estranged husband this kind of ill will? Because stuff that is written like that sounds sort of Betty Broderickish to me.......and look where that got that family?

Absolutely positively hatefulish to wish a scenario likish that on anyone, especially the Gosselin kids, especially since all that has transpired. And, if they were old enough I would lead them right to you...

There is such thing as Judgement day.....

I just read that you are thinking of writing a book about this horrible mess? Please don't. There is already enough crap out there for the children to read without you anybody adding to it. It would be much more commendable for us to just let these people fade away. ...

Kate is truthful when she repeats that her goals as a Mom have not changed. This is a woman who deliberately got pregnant with multiples for a chance at fame and fortunre. It was her intention and her goal to make as much money as possible off these kids. When her parents and siblings raised objections, she ditched them. When Jon wanted the quit filming last year, she ditched him. No wonder there are only 6 people left in her inner circle, all paid staff of course relying on these money making children. Kate is vile.

Why would you write a book on the Gosselins? ...Now you are telling people you will write a book and they are happy? Why? ...

== IMPORTANT ==
Z - comment posted by Jeanne today at 11:25 am needs to come down. References physical harm to Jon, and is NOT appropriate under any interpretation.

The sentence you find inappropriate has been deleted. It might be shoicking or offesnive to some. But the whole post does not need to be deleted by any stretch of judgment. Thanks. Z

BBF's I surrender my flag for the day. A google browse shows media outlets all over this country believe the lyin' & spinin' of the BashJon until he hands over the kids......this is a sad day in the world of Television....I am going to go and hug my kids.

Z, Can't participate in your live chat due to work schedule, but a nice idea. Hope it worked.

Didn't see the episode, since I refuse to give Katie Irene one nanosecond of my time.

Sounds like this last epi was the worst of the worst - an 8th grade project that got a D- (no offense to 8th graders).

Good riddance to KateTheBuzzKill Gosselin. May she never grace a tv set again. No talent, polarizing personality, unintelligent, arrogant and mean spirited - her pitchfork in Hades awaits. Blech to her and her ilk.

I also didn't get what Kate meant in her doublespeak ramblings at the end of the show. Something about wanting Jon in the driver's seat, wanting "people" (code for Jon) to "step up" and shifting of stress, etc. If Jon was so terrible all along, why would she want the "old" Jon? Jon was a SAHD for months while Kate travelled first class with her bodyguard and ate at places like the Beverly Hills Hotel--how was that not "stepping up?"
She really didn't want roles to shift, did she? She wouldn't have wanted to stay home while Jon travelled with an attractive female bogyguard and stayed in expensive hotels.
I don't get what Kate was saying she really wanted.
Also, for those posters who say that Jon "walked out" on Kate--who says? Even Kate hedged when asked--she "doesn't remember"--BS--of course one would remember who ended the marriage. Also, it was Kate who allegedly kicked Jon out of the marriage bed, and it was Kae who filed for divorce. Jon acts like a doofus, but he acts, IMO, like a broken-hearted doofus.

Some more interesting comments...and some entertaining and some fairly disgusting ones too.
I think the whole thing for me boils down to the fact that here are 2 self absorbed and somewhat superficial people who are parents. One more is definitely the alpha female. Definitely controlling, demanding, bossy, organized, belligerent and most definitely high maintenance but seemingly emotionally cold, calculating and unpredictable. The other is far more immature, much less articulate, organized, and certainly not a long term thinker but also impulsive. However, the one thing Jon did have was the ability to nuture his kids.

Unfortunately, however, they both sold their kids out in order to meet their financial needs as in some warped way, their own fame and self agrandizement. Khate constantly states the fact that the show provided the kids things and opportunities that she never had. She misses the boat here (she said she and her weren't in the same boat and I certainly agree as she is an emotionally narcissitic boat) as in her own warped value system, she somehow equates money and material things with being the sign of a good provider for her kids.

Well dearest Khate, I've got news for you. Being a good provider and Parent is not all about the freebies, the perks, tummy tucks, clothes, the image, the trips to the spa, resort vacations, top of the line everything. But that's what you seem to think is most important. Until you realize that it's far, far more important that parenting is about about nuturing, loving, teaching, hugging, caring, having compassion, disciplining your kids then you'll never provide them with anything meaningful. The one thing Jon did give them, was the gift of being a nuturer. It's something intangible that you and the kids can't put a monetary value on that, but when it's absent, the price you pay for not having it is far greater than anything those kids have experienced.

I hope JOn gets his act together, and can continue to provide nurturing for his kids emotional developmental needs/growth...and Khate doesn't have the first clue as to what that is really all about and I don't think it's something you can teach...it's just something that is instinctual and ingrained in people/parents who truly love their kids. Oh she loves her kids, it's just how she equate love to mean providing monetary things that is the sad part for me.

It's over.

Z, TLCOnline is reporting that ratings for the show were 4.3. Can you confirm? If so, that is certainly low for the much hyped "finale".

I will check. Just getting through an edit on my story for tomorrow's paper. I totally agree, Paula, that is not much for the finale of series that has enjoyed the kind of publicity this one has. Wasn't the audience for the Morales interview over 3 million? This is a series that definitely fell out of favor with its audience during its last season -- no doubt about it. And that would make me very worried about a new show with kate Gosselin if I was TLC. Thanks. Z

I discovered this blog a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoy it. I watched last night's repeat of KATE: HER STORY and was mindful of what I read here about Kate wearing an earpiece. I did not see any such earpiece. Can someone please tell me how they know that Kate was wearing an earpiece and was being fed the answers to Natalie Morales' questions.

1) Jon doesn't need TLC to make him look bad; he's done a stellar job of that himself over the last several months. It may have been the right decision to take the kids off TV, but he gets no credit for it. I know he would have been happy ending the show earlier, but at the time he had his 'epiphany' it was nothing more than a bargaining chip in his attempt to get out of his TLC contract. He sucks.

2) I have no love for Kate, and will not defend her, because everything she has said and done has been as much a PR stunt as anything she's accused Jon of doing. She sucks too.

Bottom line they're both self-centered a-holes, and neither of them is good at the solo full-time parenting. It kind of worked when they were together in a yin/yang way; now, I just feel sorry for the kids.

Hi, Z. I posted on another thread regarding ROL and the ratings. Amazing that TLC is proud of those numbers and couldn't wait to release them. Really, it's no surprise that more people tuned in ---it was the finale. I'm betting TLC will play this that Kate is a sure thing in drawing in the viewers for her own show. I guess they forgot about the last few months.

I also posted that it would be interesting to know how TLC plants information with the tabloids. It is evident that TLC and ROL are in bed.

TLC is doing an encore presentation of last night's finale tonight at 7. A final finale, I guess.

Regarding the ratings, isn't 4 million the lowest number in the Top 25 Cable shows?

Yes, it is. And if your finale to a five year series barely makes the Top 25 cable shows of the week, that is not success. Thank you, Aly. Nice point of comparison and context. Z

The Awakening,

Here's the YouTube video showing Kate and the earpiece. It is a scene that was not shown on the hour long interview with Natalie Morales.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3vudV4MuJU

"...Aiden, you're a man. You are five"

Every time I think of that statement to this little boy who's mother let him wear cowboy boots to walk a mile, I cringe.

Notice Mama had on comfy sneakers and socks. Why would she tell / allow the kids to wear boots in hot weather?

The man she denigrated has left, now she has 3 little "men" to humiliate. They can't escape like their father did.

Okay, how did Kate manage to get picked for one of the most fascinating people of 2009 by Barbara Walters. She was so fascinating on The View they just had to nominate her. I don't get that one.

Karen @ 1:26 p.m., I will pray for your brother. Our neighbor is having the same situation. He just got home from his surgery.

Sorry just sent that post through anonymous. Karen@ 1:26 -Yes I will definitely pray for your brother and my neightbor who is in the same situation.

Thanks for your great post. It has been a long day!!

I wasn't able to find the ratings number on TLC but didn't spend much time looking. If it is 4.3 million look what it took for TLC to get to that number -- basically months of tabloid trash from their partner in slime, ROL, numerous scripted/moderated (by earpiece) interviews by Kate, and a daily dose of J * K photos. Wow, I wonder if it was worth it?

Now, the reality is me watching the Real Housewives of Orange County. Hmmmm, reality tv is becoming less real than the tooth fairy. We all need diversions in our life and thankfully, television offers that at times in the downtime of the day. Growing up, watching Mr. Ed, The Adams Family, Munsters, Happy Days was mindless, wasted time but enjoyable as a kid. Television has changed and become the car wreck on the Beltway and we're all guilty of slowing down and taking a quick peek. Why? Who knows but we aren't better for it, having witnessed it. The last good television show was "Taking Chance" starring Kevin Bacon, a true story of a Marine Colonel who accompanied the body of a fallen Marine from the war in Iraq. It was captivating, smile and cry moments and in the end, totally fulfilling.

This is what programming executives continue to fail in delivering quality content to the viewer. Jon and Kate didn't even begin to capture the audience until their infidelities became public fodder. I tuned in on Memorial Day just to see who these people were that continued to dominate the news channels and I was quite suprised..... thus my own mistake for watching but like I said.....I'm guilty too for slowing down at the scene of the accident.

After awhile, I watched in disbelief that such innocent children were being used as pawns in an adult game called "Divorce". I'm guilty, I'm part of the Neilsen numbers for their continued exploitation and now that it's over, perhaps those children will have a start of normalcy, away from the camera and as unfortunate as it will be for them, being products of yet again, another broken home, they won't have the mire and confusion of cameras in their face 24/7.

We haven't heard the last of Jon and Kate as there will be Christmas specials, reunion specials and ten years down the road, one of the twins will be featured in a tell all.

Sadly, the books both parents will write, for much needed money, will still not tell the truth. The truth will come out when one of the disgruntled 8 decides to reveal what really happened, years from now and how they are still trying to adjust.

Hi Kelly, I loved "Taking Chane" and gave it a rave review. I was just singing the "Mr. Ed" therme song two days ago. I think we're bonding here. Z

Hello and good evening everyone -

Special thanks goes out to kelly and Z for encapsulating the final episode for everyone.
I wasnt able to watch it or participate in the chat today - hands full with kids, work, life and well you all know how it is....You all did a fabulous job.

In fact you all did such a wonderful job I cant think of a single thing to add...

Keep up the good work bloggers...and Z a special thanks for allowing th is canadian to vent.........breath 1 2 3....

Nite now

I'm with you marieE @7:40opm

Kate telling her little 5 year old son, "You're a man - be a man, don't cry." is mental and emotional child abuse. He's a 5 year old little boy! What thoughts and feelings must go through a little boy's head when he hears his mother say something like that to him? And, if Kate feels so free to make abusive comments to her child on TV, can you imagine what she says to them and the number of times she says it without the cameras?

Lies? It's called perspective. Lies aren't just something you disagree with... but then again, you do watch a lot of tv.

Hi Kelly, emjoyed your comments about TV. I just scanned the channels as I do every evening while waiting to go to work, and saw there's "Dancing with the Stars," "So You Think You Can Dance," "Biggest Loser." I'm not much of a TV watcher, and hardly ever watch the network channels and can't believe what's offered. I try to watch "Fringe" when I can remember, but I haven't seen a good TV series since "Homicide" which was probably 10 years ago and it was so good it was cancelled, naturally. That used to happen often to the programs I seemed to enjoy. I gave up on TV and became an internet junkie, and computer game junkie (mainly poker - NOT with real money) and only got back to TV when my computer conked out. It seems to me there are many more commercial interruptions than there used to be, or maybe I got spoiled being on the computer and having no interruptions to whatever I was doing. Anyway I can't sit still through a TV program now. "I'm ruined." Thank goodness for TMC for the occasional old black and white movies and no commercials.

All I can figure is the TV execs are giving the majority of the people what they want. It certainly isn't what I want. So I just don't watch much.

I just read an article that says kate gosselin is responsible for paying the bills on the old house. The old house now has a lien on it, for an unpaid water bill of 2700. and change...the mortgage on that house has not been paid since september. It also states that the bills should have been paid out of an account different than the one jon took money from.

The article is dated 11/24.09.

The article also states that the new house is in the attys name, regarding the trust, and the mortgage on it is over 700,000.....

This family is going to be out in the streets soon, they should have banked all the money and continue to live normally.

What kind of income would they have had to have shown the mortgage lender to get approved for a loan for the new house, with whatever they debt was, plus the mortgage on the old house??

Kate is just one faux pas after another, but TLC gave her all the time she wanted and let her chair time be current. Jon got less time and it appeared to be taken from months ago when his personal life was probably at the highpoint of upheaval. Kate DRAGGING those kids along the road was soooo typical of a lot of their 'walking road trips' - always pulling the kids along faster than was easy for them - letting them wear the wrong footwear (cowboy boots/flip flops, etc). The kids did not seem as interested in the cows as they were by the kittens and typically she couldn't be bothered to instruct them on proper behavior and techniques around animals (which is probably why the 2nd time Oprah did a segment on them it was taped where any collateral damage that they joked about the first time would be in their own house and not to her set). The kids come across as rambunctious (ok, semi-bratty) because they have never been taught proper actions by either of their parents and were filmed misbehaving and not being corrected for it by parents or the crew filming it. The parents total lack of common sense has shown from early on, taking them on outings when, as Kate stated, it was 900 degrees (but after all it was FREE)and then have a hissy fit because ice cream melted on a dress (if it was that hot out, rinse off the stain with water and within minutes it would be dry). Or it was freezing (and what 3 1/2 year olds need to go on a ski trip). The kids were crying about being cold and obviously did NOT want to be there. Jon's reaction to Mady was warranted, she was being obstinate, but actually Cara had already settled down before he told Mady to leave. Kate questioning Jon's integrity as far as the kids safety on their outings with him is just another example of her extreme ego, if it isn't HER outing, HER plan, HER way, it just isn't safe! While 4+million may seem like a lot, it is kind of funny that as a figure for their finale, it didn't come any where near the 10+ million of their other high. What I'm hoping is that with TLC holding off until spring for Kate's new farce the viewers will find a new interest and not be there waiting for her return. And it would be nice if the 'p people' would also decide that without a show they are NO ONE and not follow them around. Without a show, WHO are they that we CARE what they are doing?

"Television has changed and become the car wreck on the Beltway and we're all guilty of slowing down and taking a quick peek. Why? Who knows but we aren't better for it, having witnessed it."
Well said Kelly. Here's my take on things.
I stopped watching the mostly pathetic network television shows years ago, when cable channels were offering educational programming. I watched A& E, TLC Discovery etc. Then, the economics of LCD kicked in. Lowest Common Denominator. Ratings = sponsors=$. Since the vast majority of people are unable to turn away from the train wreck, that's the direction the cable channels have taken. It's all about money. Get a hold of a TLC schedule from 5 or six years ago and compare the programming to what is shown today. That's why I've returned to network television. At least it is a willing suspension of my disbelief.

On The View today they sounded very glad that the show has ended, stating that it was child exploitation. I do not understand the logic of bashing the show one minute and then making Kate Gosselin one of the 10 most fascinating people. Unless Barbara considers narcissism, greediness, selfishness, and all the drama with the crying, and claiming she cannot pay her bills, etc. fascinating. Maybe it is fascinating in the sense that it is entertaining to watch the demise of a family centered around a woman who only thinks of herself and her paycheck. It is definitely something for a psychiatrist to figure out. It would make a great read in a medical journal somewhere: "Understanding Kate Gosselin-A Language of Circles Consumed in Narcissist Behavior." It made my head spin just typing that!

Kelly and Z,

Ditto on "Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon. I watch it everytime I catch it on. Love that movie and after the shooting at Fort Hood, scenes from the movie flashed through my mind (my son was working at the base hospital the day of the shooting). I was comforted knowing those fallen soldiers would be treated with dignity and respect all the way to their final resting place. Off topic, but a wonderful movie. This is the first time I've ever heard anyone else say that they saw it.

And on a lighter note: "A horse is a horse of course of course".

Hey Sandi - I have a question for you and all the people who come on this blog to defend TLC and Kate's desire to keep her kids on tv - Do you know how to use a search engine? I'm sure you do, so I have a challenge for you: Look up the names Edward Eugene Harper, Wayne Nelson Corliss and Kevin Derks. Then please come back here and tell us again why you think it's such a good idea for the Gosselin children to have all that exposure. Thank you in advance.

I was at Target this evening and saw a 30something woman with her daughters and they all had the Kate reverse mullet and multi-colored streaks. It was all I could do to keep from bursting into laughter, especially when the mom was calling to one of the daughters, "Kate! Kate!" Why would you do that to your child -- oh wait, look at the role model. . . .

Z... Thanks for posting my messages regarding this show. Thanks also for your response about "Taking Chance". Such an unbelievable show, a testament and a true story of a real Hero. I'm copying you in an email I sent my family about a real live experience for a real hero and not a television wanna be that the Gosselin's have tried to be. I cry not a tear for Jon and Kate. My heart bleeds peanut butter for this couple who wanted the world to know their travails yet there heart was only in it for the money. Kate's wonkey stink eye during interviews and Jon's "cool dude" interviews could never match up to the real people who struggle in silence and still keep it together should be reality televison. Let's hope for it.

Kelly

Honor and Dignity

Recently, I had the the honor of attending the funeral and burial of a coworkers father at Arlington National Cemetery. Her father was a Commander in the United States Navy. He was afforded Full Honors. We sat in the chapel at Arlington and sat in awe as the Military Honor Guard paid full respect to their fallen brother. After the church ceremony, the Military Honor Guard had us line our vehicles up and follow the caison through Arlington National Cemetery to this Officers final rest.

As we followed the horse drawn caisson throught the myriad of roads and paths through the cemetery, the most outstanding tribute stood out and made me proud to be part of this procession but also made me proud to be an American. There were visitors and tourists traversing the grounds of this sacred memorial. There were also sub contracted landscaping companies who were hired by the federal government to make a major overhaul of the cemetery grounds.

As the funeral procession passed by the tourists, the visitors, the sub contractors, on the way to the final burial spot, everyone we passed either placed their hand over their heart, removed their head gear and the groundskeepers, subcontracted by the government, removed their hats, stopped what they were doing and paid homage to the funeral procession for this fallen hero. I've never seen anything like it in my lifetime. I've been to many funerals for friends, family and friends of family. I've never been affored the honor and privledge of attenting the funeral and burial of someone in the military. It was truly an honor to be part of this.

Watching the HBO movie "Taking Chance" this past week, was a reminder of how the Armed Forces of the United States of America respect those who serve and those who have served. It's a calling, a service and a reminder that those who gave their life for those of us who are fortunate to benefit from their service should feel proud they wear the uniform of this country.

sam (3:30) "I just read that you are thinking of writing a book about this horrible mess? Please don't."

I disagree. Please DO write the book!

While TLC used/exploited this family for millions- they were exposed by the viewers and bloggers.

It became clear, to me, that the "news" is no longer fact filled journalism and instead has become paid PR pieces across cable and, what I thought were, separate networks. This whole mess has taught me that the world of TV media has become unethical, untrustworthy, and just plain sleazy.

The comment on the View this morning that Jon had said he put" his kids out there for pedophiles and not getting paid".. tells me that either he was aware of the risks and harm of filming his children in states of undress and in vulnerable moments- just as I am very sure TLC is aware of these risks and threw the ethics of dealing with children out the window.

After listening to a group moms of discussing the filming of the Gosselin children in the bathroom, my 8 yr old daughter correctly pointed out that "a man in our town went to jail for filming kids on the potty" and shouldn't the camera guy and the TV people go to jail too? Seems like they should but there they are showing it on TV and on boxed DVD sets.

I had never watched J&K+8 as I had been too busy as a single RN mom raising 6 kids, working overtime to put the oldest 3 through excellent college. I have no sympathy for Kate (or Jon).
They clearly knew they were exploiting their children for money. They continued even after the risks become clear (Need for a bodyguard!).

TLC will continue to exploit children for profit as long as they find willing parents to expose their children for cash and the laws do not stop them. Just the names TLC and Discovery sound dirty and slimy to me now.

Other network news shows, talk shows and magazines will continue to present PR packaged stories as "news" as long as they can get away with it. Interviews will be done with kid gloves. yuck...it just makes me sick.

For the poor Gosselin children- this is not going to fade away. There are DVD sets out there. Their parents have done and said incredibly stupid things in front of millions of people. I can only pray that these kids get counseling and their parents grow up and start cherishing and protecting the incredible gift they were given in that all 8 of the children are beautiful and healthy.

So, please Z, write the book.

Watched Table for 12 last night. While many feel this is an exploitation of kids on TV as well, I find this family to be mostly normal. They tease each other, they play, they get dirty. The mom does not freak out over finger paint on the sliding glass door ! She to me is a real Mom. While I cannot quote her directly, she stated (in reference to her disabled child) That she could not wait until the day she died because she would be in heaven and once Rebecca passed on she would meet her there and be whole, there would be no disability and she could enjoy having a healed body and mind. She cried, REAL TEARS, the Dad sat there and showed compassion for his wife and you could see that he was choked up as well. She also stated that she would carry Rebecca around the rest of her life NO PROBLEM. Now that is LOVE folks. The other children are also mindful of the needs of their sister, and help out and also are involved, but not to the detriment of being kids.
It is my sincere prayer that TLC does not try to ruin this lovely family. I am hoping that TLC will treat this family with the respect they deserve! They seem to obviously show footage that is very different than what you saw on J & K - so perhaps they are showing the contrast between the two.
Also, YES there was product placement, which I dont think can be avoided since sponsors pay for the shows. BUT, the Hayes family took the crayon makers and the other toys and involved the entire family in play and enjoyment !
The ending with the mom and Rebecca on her lap showing her and allowing her to listen and enjoy what the other children had was so touching to me.
In any event, I pray this family uses the show for their families needs (which they appear to be doing) and that they end it before TLC destroys them.
Just a few thoughts that came to me.
Thanks for listening

Kelly,

Honor and Dignity was beautiful thanks for posting that. Now I watnt to see that movie "Taking Chance". I am going to try to find it.

I grew up watcing a lot of the same TV shows you mentioned. They were great. Watched a lot of Munsters at my grandma's house on the couple of channels they got back then.

Dana,

I like Table for Twelve too. I think that I will find myself watching this show. I do think this family seems genuine. I just remember so vividly though that is how the Gosselin family started out. Lets pray of the Hayes family. I do want the show to be a success. I hope they would have sense enough to end it if they see any trouble coming. We have all had a very bad experience from TLC with J&K.

Z - do you think we have commenters from all 50 states? That is so interesting to me. I know of Ohio, Mississippi, California, Washington, Arizona, N.C., Kansas, Maryland - I missing a lot more.

Hi everyone,
Regarding Jon's comment about "putting his kids out there for every pedophile to see". This is a major issue with the Gosselin children being on TV! The fact that Jon has said this out loud shows that he is acknowledging the risk, unlike Kate who looks straight into the camera and swears the show has been nothing but great for the kids. They are not kids to Kate, just $$$.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am thankful for my kids, my husband, my dogs-my ordinary life.

Dana,

Sorry I think I just sent that comment under anonymous. Anyway, I would like to give Table for Twelve a chance. Lately from watching Little People Big World though it seems like Matt and Amy's relationship is becoming a little strained. I liked that family too. Haven't had time to watch it as much recently.

Hi Chrysee, I'm not Sandi but I looked up the names you mentioned in your post (11:35).

Yes indeed, I agree with you that the Gosselin children and any other children who regularly appear on television are at a much increased risk of becoming victims of sexual predators. Predators can watch these children on TV from the comfort of their homes and then, in all of their heinous depravity, decide they would like to "meet" one of these children in real life. It's a very ugly and scary thought.

There are so many layers upon layers upon layers of issues surrounding reality shows...

Dana while I am not the moral police and have no right to tell you to watch or not watch the other lying channel reality families. I want to tell you this...be very careful. It is no coincidence/accident that Rebecca's story is being exploited by the lying channel. Jon and Kate set the bar very low for parenting anything any of these families do is better than them.

That said, I am sure Rebecca is a sweetheart. When I was young I met a family who had a daughter with Cerebral Palsy, her name is Gretchen. We were thick as thieves. I babysat, traveled and lived one summer with this family. She is happy, healthy as she can be, works, lives in a group setting, and my life is richer because I know her & we are reunited.

Beware......is all I can tell you.

Hello from Canada.
Jon's talk about putting his kids out there for pedophiles is true and that is just what TLC has done. In Canada if somebody filmed a child on a potty or being dressed/undressed let me tell you charges of kidie porn would be laid immediately. Unfortunately Canada has aired these individuals as the cable feed comes directly from the US.

Joe~ it is called lies you do not call something the truth just because someone sits on a couch and says it.

This is a lie~it was too soon, avoidable~~
Truth~ it was too drawn out, a public display of indecency for 8 children, the only truth she said was that word avoidable. Now this is my perspective:
Season 5 should have never happened and the lying channel will regret in hindsight it ever happened. It is on tape, it is being sold to any sucker that will purchase it & it is hurtful and humiliating for those 8 kids.

cathy518,

I am thankful for all those things you mentioned. Also, thankful to be an American.

Here is hoping that the Gosselin kids will have an ordinary Thanksgiving and an oridinary rest of their lives. They deserve it. I agree we need to fight for these children. What do you think about the other TV reality shows like Table for Twelve? I have mixed feelings about it. Maybe we should not be supporting any of these shows. I hope they knew what they were signing.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. We have a lot to be thankful for.

Kelly and Z, sorry for the Anonymous @ 11:24 PM. I forget to type my name sometimes. I think I also sent an "Anonymous" on the chat line thanking you for the great recaps. So thank you for doing what you do and thanks to Chrysee for her recaps, too.

Dana, I too hope the Hayes family remains unscathed by TLC. They do seem like a family you can relate to, with extended family, friends, outside interests and genuine emotions. Thought the Tupperware Party was something a real STHM would do. As well as the dad coaching little league. Would have liked to have seen J&K do real everyday stuff normal parenting things. I was thinking this morning that maybe they shb on the Travel Channel: Jon & Kate Travel with 8.

Dana, I don't care if the Hayes parents are angels on earth. They do not have the right to use their children as income-makers. Period.The.End.

Z, in today's Chicago Sun-Times in Bill Zwecker's column, he said that Kate had pitched a line of eco-friendly toys (?) and make-up, but people were lukewarm. Jon also has pitched some ideas, no takers. He feels that their fame is dying. One can only hope.

Hi, Mellie, Thanks. I do not think there will be much of a media afterlife for either of these fools. Z

Paula,

I can certainly hear your point. I am beginning to think that you are right. Someone in another post pointed out that children in any "reality" show are victims of child exploitation. I guess maybe there can't be any degrees. The Gosselin's let all of this get out of control when they used their kids out of obvious greed. They quit their jobs and played an ugly divorce out in front of the cameras. That was wrong. So should we believe that the Hayes family will fall into this same trap?

I read the post from Sandi (11/24 11:46) and then watched the RadarOnline tape of which Sandi is speaking. Jon is angry at TLC and states that TLC STRUCK THEIR OWN SIDE DEALS and took money from People Magazine and Good Housekeeping. Jon states that THE MONEY TLC TOOK should have gone to his kids.

Furthermore, Jon poses the QUESTION in anger that he "put his kids out there for every pedophile on the planet and they (meaning TLC) didn't get paid for it?? It's disgusting."

I do not hear anything in there that Jon is making an admission that he purposely put his kids on TV for pedophiles to view. I am hearing that Jon is angry at TLC and he is speaking in hindsight that he had been putting his children at risk, YET TLC WAS REAPING THE BENEFITS. Jon said: IT'S DISGUSTING.

Come on!! RadarOnline didn't accurately state what Jon was saying. RadarOnline is more than happy to mistate comments and then try to sensationlize them. Don't EVER trust what you see on RadarOnline - EVER!!!

Hi Peg, Radar was the producer of the wretched Octomom TV special that aired on Fox. That says a lot about the ethics of Radaronline to me -- and none of it is good. Z

Kate is always proclaiming it is all ‘for the kids’. Well, can she answer this question? Why are they constantly staging trips to the playground, the dentist, what not and having the kids photographed then publish these pictures in a national magazine (no, I won’t mention names here—they don’t deserve name-dropping and I don’t even buy them). Does anyone remember the staged trip to the playground over the summer with Kate wearing a green baby doll dress and the photos were published in a magazine? Same thing with the NYC interview last fall where they took the kids to the playground and Kate was talking about her book while they played. I mean, who talks about their book when they are at the playground with their children? Name one. They did it again just recently with just the tups and it was obvious it was staged for publicity to show her ‘motherly side’. How often do they get to go to the playground, every 6 months? They don’t even get to play with other children at the playground as the photos show that they are always by themselves. If Kate really wanted the children to have privacy and grow up into normal adults, she needs to rethink about the whole process of the staging trips and photo ops. I don’t care if it was in a public place, she could have called the cops---stop the staging of trips and errands and the whining. The children didn’t ask for this and shouldn’t have to put up with her ego to keep the gravy train running. She is a fame whore and doesn’t know when to stop.

Peg,

I totally agreed with you. That was exactly my read on the situation. Jon was outraged and disgusted. Hindsight is 20/20 and unfortunately Jon can't unring that bell. Why Kate doesn't get it is a mystery for the ages.

I thought I was going to blow a gasket there about RadarOnline. It's so infuriating. This has been a learning experience for me, I must say that. I think a book can be written starting with:
Volume I.

If Toddlers and Tiaras, another TLC gem, isn't child exploitation then I don't know what is. I immediately thought of Jon Benet the first time I got a glimpse of it. TLC should be investigated.

Peg~~ your posts are hot this morning and refreshing.

I was beginning to think yesterday maybe I was making a mountain out of a molehill. I went home from work early and took a nap.

I woke up this morning and some of my kids are home from college so we let them pick a restaurant & went to breakfast. It was a great time & refreshing to hear about all their hopes, dreams and how they accept life on life's terms. We had our 2 year old Trent with us. At the end of breakfast he was acting like a surfer on his chair. We were laughing so hard. I couldn't help but smile as the customers around us were also smiling.

We got the children off of television for now. Their father, Jon Gosselin, for whatever his intentions were was instrumental in doing that. At the end of the day, love them, hate them whatever, but a parents obligation & right to choose what is best for their children cannot be compromised NO MATTER how detailed a contract or big the corporation.NO MATTER how many attorneys, perks, salaries whatever.

Sorry, Jon was right when he released a statement to Entertainment Tonight this past week, that more reflects the current state, "we failed our marriage miserably" That does not mean they have to fail those kids.

P.S. I never heard one i-oh-da out of Kate's mouth thanking the crew, workers, relatives, countless volunteers that without their help the show would not have made it as long as it did. That speaks gallons of organic milk to me.

I have no place to tell others what to do. I was duped by the biggest reality family to hit the airwaves in this decade.

Please just hear me out though. Once these parents put their family & children's lives out there it can never be taken back. Look at the hell Jon Gosselin will have for wanting his kids off television.

Once the privacy is sold to these greedy companies as Kate Gosselin says, "You cannot go back" It will be impossible to clear the internet of the images, videos, unauthorized garbage, articles etc.

Please remember that in the back of your mind when the Masches, Duggars, Hayes and others are being viewed. These are children who have no attorneys, no payment for their services, no contract per se, no say in this, & when that brand is built up so big....the parents have no way out except what we see currently happening.

Tlc, WE, Discovery prove me wrong...I want to be wrong for the sake of all these kids.

Mellis S.

Toddlers and Tiaras is one of those shows that TLC never should have aired. Those babies dressed to look and perform like Vegas showgirls is perverted. Sick. What is wrong with their mommas?

Hi Z,

Kate is very much like her own fans. Blinded to problems that she is putting out there. I think she, like her fans, don't look very closely. They don't want to see or consider that the tv show could hurt her kids. Once you do see the problems...you just can't unsee it.

Personally, I do not think any children should be in reality tv.. In our country, in this day and age, children should not be used for entertainment and money making tools for their parents.

Finallyover, I think Kate would have liked having a show on the travel channel even better.

Chrysee |
Chrysee, (November 24, 2009 11:35 PM) I took your challenge and opted to Google Edward Eugene Harper & Wayne Nelson Corliss. I must say these guys are sick & for those that don't know, they are pedophiles. No child should have their intimate moments taped for the world to see. I am not a fan of the show although I do confess to watching before the Gossellins became tabloid darlings. I genuinely hope that Jon & Kate refrain from allowing any more public access to their children. It is a sick world we live in & men like Edward E. Harper & Wayne Nelson Corliss are ready to prey on the innocent. JON & KATE: YOU BOTH ARE SICK IF YOU ALLOW YOUR KIDS TO CONTINUE TO EARN "YOUR" LIVING AT THE COST OF THEIR CHILDHOOD.

Great post, Maura (1:53).

I think there could be at least 2 books written on this - 1 involving the family aspects and what the parents did to their family and what the corporations did to showcase and capitalize on the family; 2 about the back story involving the media and how it is not always independent, factual, or ethical.

The Gosselin fiasco made it crystal clear that the media can be and was bought. TLC and/or the Gosselin's PR firm was able to use People, NBC, and others to immediately try to influence viewers any time things were not going their way.

I do not know how any of the individuals involved can sleep at night or hold their head high during the day when they are willing to cast aside their reputation, character, whatever to bring in a little more money and attention for themselves or their employer.

I think there are so many things wrapped up in this mess that need to be highlighted that there must be an expose in the form of books, documentaries, etc.

I know that there are so many instances in the country and world of corruption or immorality or whatever but something about the Gosselin story has brought it to a level that can be more relatable and easier to understand than if it involves say politics or just huge corporations. Maybe it is because at the center of it all are 8 innocent lives.

Here I go again: I can't believe that other trash websites and news sources have further misquoted what Jon was saying on the RadarOnline tape. Everyone seems to have a problem with the word "they". When Jon says "they" he means TLC, not the kids or himself. Do these writers and reporters have an IQ of oh, say 12?

Shouldn't RadarOnline get a followup comment from Kate about this "exclusive, caught on tape news"? I'd really, really like to hear what she has to say! C'mon RadarOnline you can do it! (I'm sorry, I'm delirious!)

If anything Jon's comment supports why he has disallowed filming of his children.

Peg do not worry yourself. Radaronline, while it has aided and abedded The Lying channel, is nothing more than a tabloid. They do not care if they get it right. And, obviously Tlc doesnt either, because they are chummy with them.

Commmon, like Z reminded us they did the Octomom. And, yes, guess what this week Octomom was out Shilling on one of the morning shows. She has to pay 10,000 a month for nannies.

Not all sextuplet parents are out to "Shill" their children, the Dilleys are a perfect example. They have balanced the media & kept things in perspective.

Keep your chin up Peg, and keep giving us the facts. We have the truth on our side. It might be 10 years from now when the children are of age...but it is gonna come out.

Hi again Z,

I just finished reading all the comments. It took me a while. You know with Jon not letting Hannah have a popsicle...at least, he didn't go get one and eat it himself in front of her. So, Jon not letting her have a popsicle was not as bad as Kate refusing water to Mady.

Irene, No scotch tape is not going to fix the Gosselins...they will definitely need duct tape.

Ruth, since you were brave enough to actually cook Kate's meatloaf...I would really like to know if you are OK. Should we send help? Hope you didn't get food poisoning.

Z, I hope you do write a book. I would certainly buy it, too. And, as another commenter mentioned....Preesi's blog has everything. Of course, all of us would help you in any way we can.

Sorry I missed the live chat. You guys did great!

And, if Jon and Kate find that 8 kids are just too much for them...I will take the twins. My kids are grown. So, we could take them. Let them be individuals instead of an unmatched set. Let Mady dance while Cara plays soccer or whatever. We have 3 older dogs and they can learn about pets and their place in a family.

Oh, and before I forget, I'm in MO. Another state in attendance.

Have a great Thanksgiving everybody.

Just throwing in my two cents...you have all summed it up very well. True about Canadian law being more strict re kids on potties, etc. You cannot even get a pic of your kid in the bath developed w/o Walmart calling the police. Barbee - I wonder what in the world Kate will do w/TLC in the spring. Kate without 8 is like the Cake Boss without Cake...irrelevant and pointless. I think they're stringing her along so she stays on their side during the Jon law suit and doesn't decide to team up with him. Dana - I do like table for 12. The kids are very real and funny and no way would money go to those parents' heads, they're too mature and grounded. Wish I'd found this blog sooner, you guys are great.

How did such a wonderful woman like Kate get tied up with a no good like Jon. On the finale didn't his attitude sound like: "I deserve pity because I was too young, and I'll probably try to do the best I can, but in my own way and time. But don't hold me to that." He was so unfair to the twins I think the kids were being honest and truthful and he can't stand to hear the truth...

Irene and Finallyover, thank you for your support! Like you, I very much value the truth. Every nerve in my body is jangled when there is such disregard for it. I had not been familiar with RadarOnline before, although I have seen it mentioned here. Now I know to disregard it! (It still makes me mad that it's out there and I know that others will believe the distortions.)

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving
Irene and Z and all fellow bloggers! I enjoy your company.

Finale episode was, as expected, bashing of Jon and editing by TLC to make Jon look as bad as editing can make a person look bad. To start the show with the sign TLC attempted to make Jon look stupid with the misspellings. That sign was, as Jon pointed out, put up by a friend and was replaced with correct spellings 2 days later. Khate, as usual, was not grateful to the dairy farmer and, in fact, said inorganic milk is too expensive for her to buy for her kids. Way to go Khate! Shoot the poor farmer in his means of making a living and not wholeheartedly thank him for your visit. The tups seemed out of control, poor manners, and scared the kitten and the calves. Not good. Both parents show poor parenting skills and jmo but I think all Gosselins need therapy/counselling pretty darn quick. Glad to see them all off the air. Hope it stays that way.

Hey Diane~ I like going back and re reading all the comments too. My husband makes fun of me all the time about.

Lemelia Bonner~ I sure appreciate that you gave your name to your post. I appreciate what you are saying but I do not agree. That final episode was all about the editing/trashing the father of those 8 kids. Sorry! This was the finale no mention of the gratefulness of 5 seasons or of 5 years of hard work on behalf of crew, volunteers and family. I bet if I could sneak into Figure 8 productions (Like Watergate) and get me some film there be a whole other story going on.

Oh well, Remember, Lemelia in Kate's own version she sought Jon out!

Peg~thanks Remember bloggers that blog together get to the bottom of it together.

Peg, Finallyover, Irene and all - I also have to admit that I was sucked right into the show when I started watching it back in early 2008. The kids were cute as kittens and I dug right in for a few months. Somewhere in the back of my mind I guess I naively believed their safety and well-being was the first priority.

If Jon is genuine about his concern that pedophiles are the major reason he pulled the plug on filming them - I'll have a lot more respect for him. But it's Kate's narcissistic fog that needs to be diffused. If she can't see it and TLC still encourages her to not see it and the supporters/fans can't see it - then they all need intensive therapy. I think TLC's plan to sink Jon is backfiring on them big time. They've put themselves out there in a very bad light over this.
I'd love see them brought down for good.

Yes, Lucy Organic mild is to expensive but a 5 dollar coffee a day 2 times a day is allright.

Oh well, she has a stack of bills now doesnt she?

Hey Chrysee lets call up Kate and offer her a free spa visit. Then while she's gone let's go sneak the kids a case of gum and send them downstair to play on her treadmill.

Oh Lordie bee...we are a force to be reckoned with now aren't we?

The Awakening - (sorry I missed your post earlier) - yes it is sick ...and we'd be very happy if those staunch supporters of the show come would come back and tell us they took the blinders off. They never seem to return to give us the good news.

Irene - I remember how proud Kate was of herself about the girlfriend being 'gone the next day'. She has a gift of getting rid of people like they were paper plates.

Mellie - I've never watched Toddlers and Tiaras...the title alone kept me away. I can't even imagine how bad that show must be.

Ok.. just when you think this nails on the blackboard woman is gone.. she is BACK!

I think we can now agree that Barbara Walters has entered her "senior moment" at last.

She has Kate G on the list of "Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009". !

Plus!.. she is going to interview Kate! ? !

This should really be good.

This list and interview once again prove that its all about the ratings. Not about the content or truth of a show, whether its interview or reality.

Barbara Walters has lost any respect I had for her as a professional. Of all the people in this country qualified for that list, she puts Kate Gosselin on there. Why not Jon Goseelin too? They've been neck in neck with publicity and that seems to be the criteria for our aging Ms Walter's decisions.

Z.. do something!

Does anyone else think Kate was giving one of her "subtle" hints to Farmer Forrest when she declared that "organic milk is too expensive"?

How she oozed that the kids never drink that much milk.

Ummm, Kate, how about they liked the milk because each portion had about 50% Hershey's chocolate. (product placement!)

I'm sure Hershey's totally organic.

Happy Thanksgiving wishes coming from the NJ shore to all the wonderful bloggers and our fearless leader, Z.

"I do not know how any of the individuals involved can sleep at night or hold their head high during the day when they are willing to cast aside their reputation, character, whatever to bring in a little more money and attention for themselves or their employer."
Barb "11:31)

Barb, great post!

I really wonder about this too. What happened to ethics? Are they making so many millions that "ethics be dammed"?

I wonder about the Discovery Network. This whole mess has exposed their underbelly to the public...or do people not generally know that they are connected?

Does TLC really believe that there will not be a nasty backlash from pursuing lawsuits against Jon Gosselin?

Isn't the risk of the public finding out that the children had no work permits, were not paid and TLC may have broken all kinds of guidelines for "child labor" and behaved horribly unethically while filming this mess, greater than any amount of money they will squeeze out of Jon (they are also forgetting that the public will see as money that should be going to the children!)

Look how quickly the women on the View backflipped after handling Kate with kid gloves, during her co-hosting, to "dissing" her just weeks later. Do they think that what they did previously is simply forgotten?

I don't think the public will forget the Gosselin 8 and in time, especially if the court case is pursued, they will shift and focus their blame on the network that tempted their two immature, self centered parents.

Ok I have a question - skirting away from the main topic for a mo......

Why oh why on god's green earth would barbara walters pick kate for woman of the year when there are so many more qualified and deserving women who should be receiving this award.

Are ABC/TLC in bed with each other - is it for ratings? It really makes the award a sham seriously i just shook my head at this....

Irene - I'm with ya. You know the operative word there is 'free'. It's a Kate magnet.

The Barbara Walters thing blows my mind, maybe most contraversial person, do people honestly think because the Gosselins were trashed by tabloids makes them somebody. Most of the interest was not in a positive way. I just saw were Kate supposedly was pitching for a toy line and beauty products. No interest though, thank God. Earlier this year it was a kids clothing line and cookbook. Where are the credentials for anything. I know they probably were just attatching her name to it, but, really ? have they all went nuts. Happy Thanksgiving!!!! WE all have alot to be thankful for, and actually are.

Heck marieE he honestly he probably does give them milk. He bales hay on their property & you can bet that Kate doesn't allow anyone to do anything with out giving her something in return.

Did anyone notice the basement shots of the kids show about 24 boxes of Kleenex? I guess she practices her crying so she has to have it plenty of it around.

Further Kad, I saw a You tube of Kate on Rachel Ray showing people how to make crafts for kids. She floated a boat you guys. You gotta hand it to her, that was last spring & she tied the boat tryout on Rachel Ray with her final episode. Pretty sneaky there Katie Irene. If I didnt think with such a Gosselin fog, I would think you were trying out for a talk show.

Z and all the bloggers, Happy Thanksgiving. It's the best day of the year. No gift giving, nothing but family and friends getting together just to get together. It's the most celebrated "tailgate" party of the year.

Z, I hope you're on chapter 4 of that book you're in the process of writing. I'm going to be riding herd on you.

Yes, happy Thanksgiving to you and all the bloggers here as well. What a great group. After spending all day Wednesday on a Sun print edition story for Sunday, I cam home exhausted and decided to take a pass Wednesday night and actually have a little Thanksgiving break. Later today, though, I am going to post the poll question about interests of the group and direction for the blog. So I hope you will say where you would like to see this blog spend some time in coming weeks and months. And based on the tremendous reaction, I am going to ask about ways we can get to having you and some others doing your own posts. So, enjoy today all bloggers and tonight or tomorrow or over the weekend, when you have some time, please stop back and let me know what you think about future directions. Thanks. Happy Thanksgioving. Z

Happy Thanksgiving, all!!!!!

I haven't thought of much to contribute lately, but this Barbara Walters announcement really rubs me the wrong way. Plus, she is adding Adam Lambert. Why would he be worthy of the nomination? I am a big AI fan, but I don't see why Adam should be on this list. Used to be, this list meant something.

Wasn't it Barbara who made the statement this summer that people who had five kids or more should not divorce?

Is Barbara going to compare Kate to Jenny Sanford? Their stories are completely different.

Hi tj, Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Z

Barbara Walters has truly gone senile if she thinks Kate is one of the most fascinating women of 2009. I'd say more freakish women of 2009.

Go to this link and see what happened to an elderly couple from a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada (population 500 give or take)

http://thechronicleherald.ca/NovaScotia/1154686.html

If Jon and Kate were in Nova Scotia trying to do that show the authorities would have taken their children from them by now.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Yes, Kelly, (cough, cough) Z needs to get busy on that book in his spare time.

Z, we are just excited period about this blog.

As far as the Barbara Walters special and Kate Gosselin....Let it be...the more she interviews, the more she shows the world she is just a product of The Lying channel. Plus, I look so forward to what Z,Kelly, marieE, Chrysee and all the BBF's have to say that Barbara gave us a reason for a reunion....

Love and Happy wishes to all the Bloggers & visitors to this site. If you have never blogged before do not be shy, give us a try! Happy Thanksgivings to the best turkeys on the blog!

Z, KELLY and ALL THE GREAT BLOGGERS:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING -almost time to eat.

http://www.care2.com/dailyaction/homepage.html

Thank a farmer today!

I'll be back to check out the poll. :)

Happy thanksgiving to our americans neighbours to the south....

@ Hello from Canada,

Thanks for the link. I read the story and found it quite interesting. There have been many times when I've wanted to wave or say hello to a child, and stopped myself. What a sad world we live in. Innocent gestures and pictures can be taken out of context. But, safety for children is really what's important.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Very well written article about the Gosselin saga:

Happy Thanksgiving from another one of your neighbours to the north!

AnnM@3:40 p.m.

Regarding the link. That was an interesting article. I saw that earlier today. I am not sure why I was surfing around, I usually don't read about Jon and Kate except on the blog, but that is what I found.

Happy Thanksgiving from a neighbor to the South.

Not that it matters but Jon posted his and Hailey's twitter accounts on sixgosselins.com this summer, then I assume had to take that off the website.

Hailey's twitter is alledging Jon is not at Grandma's eating turkey but in Utah Skiing.

Anyway, not that we are keeping up but I guess if he is in Utah it is one last Horrah before the court case gets in full swing.

Suzi J~ I feel like you did the other day ~~~nosey

So now that the show has been gone for a week, where is all the 'p' coverage of Kate that she said would go on whether the show was on or not? If you go into Yahoo, put in Kate Gosselin it brings up stories about Jon talking to yet again another source but nothing new on Kate. And as far as Jon's comments about pedophiles, my take was he hadn't realized that by allowing the filming all this time they were putting the kids out there where pedophiles had access to their pics and the kids were not even being paid. Soooo, if they had been paid that would have made it okay??

Hi Barbee,

I think that Kate may be realizing that the p-people are a fickle bunch. Of course, if you go to radar on line..you will find pics of Kate from Thanksgiving and the day after and probably today going to Target. hehe.

I think Jon just plain didn't get out of the house much when he was with Kate. So, I don't think he even thought about pedophiles. He just wanted to keep Kate happy or at least, as happy as he could make her.

I'm glad that you are here and I hope you stick around. We have a great group of bloggers here. Actually, we are now Zloggers.

Do you think the powers that be 'encouraged' Walters to name Kate one of her fascinating? (or intriguing, I don't know, since I do not like Walters and do not watch her).
Ratings were the reason she was on The View (as stated by Behar).

It stands to reason that Walters was asked by 'higher-ups' to include Kate in her special.

What do you think, Z?

Another topic..since the show is over, what are these two parents doing for an incoming cash flow? Is Kate already on salary with tlc, since she supposedly has a spring show in the works??

momof6 Kate is planning on alot. Tlc spokesman Laurie Goldberg says they are working on a project for Spring 2010. TLC has webisodes floating about a cookbook. And, a pilot has been filmed with Paula Deen.

Kate's problem lies in though she will have to carry a future project on her own with no talent, no good verbal skills, and someone else calling the shocks. Wait & see.

As for Jon he has a 3 fold problem with future employment opportunities. #1 he is his own bad PR machine #2 He did not fulfill a contract with TLC. #3 His estranged wife will resort to any means to throw, what is left of him after #1 & #2, under the Gosselin Sextuplet van.

I couldn't agree more about the wasteland TV has become. Homicide was indeed one of the last great shows on TV, though I do enjoy Monk and L&O: CI. Even Monk is about to say adios. I detest reality shows and can't stand the way our airwaves have been taken over by these horrors. A&E used to produce some quality dramas, then lowered themselves to the a-hole and excrement channel. As for Baba Wawa, she's always been a celebrity butt-licker, so I'm not surprised she would cave in to pressure from her network/sponsors. So few journalists retain their integrity. I grew up in Reading, PA, near the area the Gosseiins call home. When my partner mentioned J&K in front of my family, their loathing for this couple rose to a fever pitch. J&K's reputation among locals leads me to believe they should make tracks somewhere else when their foreclosure notices arrive. Kate should be able to continue her nurse's training anywhere. Both parents can also trade the McMansion for McJobs. I'm sure they'll force the kids to work McJobs as soon as they're tall enough to stand behind the counter.
