I saw this short bit on the View and the thing that got me was she said her children are devastated now because they can't go see the Empire state Building. Why can't they Kate? Is it the inability for you to access your funds? Did Jon freeze the credit cards too? Or is it becuase TLC won't be paying for it and providing you with PA's to watch the kids? Their parent's are divorcing in an ugly battle in front of the world....the Empire State Building is a MINOR issue in their lives right now!!

Kate needs to provide for her children in whatever way she intended to when she and Jon deliberately created them--just like all the other (normal) parents of large families. Plus, I don't believe for one second that Kate doesn't have money elsewhere. What about the book sales, appearances, guest hosting gigs, etc.? Kate will NEVER stoop to working at McDonald's or anyplace else. She's a star (at least in her own mind) and fully intends to milk that for the rest of her life. The kids are simply the means--commodities--to make her fortune. I don't think she had Jon or his welfare in mind when she and TLC decided to blot him out of the show. These people have ripped their very profitable life apart with their own hands.

Hate to tell you Jon & Kate....you think you each have been wronged by all this...I do not feel the least bit sorry for you two knuckleheads.

Live within your means. You didn't need the multi-million dollar house on all that acreage. If you and Jon were having difficulty when you renewed your vows in Hawaii, why on earth did you get that house? Not that you actually pay for it. It has been converted green, so just live within your means, and teach your children to close doors, turn lights off and wear socks and slippers on their feet.

I think TLC might be losing all of the money from the show because Kate said in the Today Show interview that Jon could have the production stopped because it is in the contract that if one parent does not agree to the filming it will be stopped. So that means no more money for TLC. Also, the viewership is so low right now that the show probably won't go on is my guess.

Kate gets away with a lot. At the top of the interview she stated that Jon withdrew $230,000 leaving the account with just $1000, hence Kate can't pay their bills. Then she said later on she had bank statements showing he started withdrawing money August 10th to Sept 29th. Did she not pay bills in that six week timeframe? Of course she did. Did she bounce cheques? of course not. Kate was not asked about the non liquid assets, how many bank accounts they hold, how much money is at her fingertips to pay the bills. I am sick of the way the media lets her coast through interviews putting the message she wants out without challenge.

McDonald's? Pretty dramatic considering she is a nurse. I am a nurse and you can make a very decent living at it. Of course I don't have a million dollar house, get manicures every week and but entire cows.

I too don't understand why the respectable media outlets like The Today Show, Larry King and Dateline keep giving these two airtime. Why does she get to keep coming on the programs and saying she wants her side of the story out? The interviewers just sit there and gloss over all the lies and inconsistencies. It makes no sense!

According to Jon in his The Insider interview, he has only withdrawn a total of 175 thousand out of their joint account over the past year, and contrary to what Kate is claiming that he cleaned out the account of 230 thousand last week, he only withdrew 22 thousand and he has the paper trail to prove it. So apparently one of the two is lying....guess we will have to wait for the court to decide who's lying.

It's like arguing who is the bigger liar, a Republican politician or a Democrat politician. I find it hard to believe that a control freak like Kate would not know at any one moment the exact balance in any of her 11 bank accounts.

I agree with those who wonder why a nurse would go to work at McDonald's. Maybe she meant she would go to work there as an Occupational Health Nurse or something. Otherwise, that was an overly dramatic ridiculous thing to say.

The thing that *really* confuses me is this: She had sole control of the 2+ million they made from the show, the million+ they made from their books, the possibly undeclared monies from the love offerings, speaking engagements, pictures they sold, and all other money they made. Jon withdraws 22,000 from their account (I believe Jon's recollection of the amount as opposed to Kate-I-can't-remember-if-Jon-left-5-months-or-5-years-ago's) and she only has 1,000 left to live on? Seriously? I think the real question isn't why did he take out money from the joint account (that she was using as well per the overdraft notices she received), it's WHERE IS THE REST OF IT??? By my calculations, they made anywhere from 4 to 5 million, but she's broke after Jon took 175,000 out in 4 years. ...the heck?

Whatever happens with these two losers, I just hope the show ends for the sake of the kids. I haven't watched the show in over a year (including the re-edited reruns) because of Kate's abusive behavior (now disappeared by TLC!) and the realization that the filming wasn't good for the kids - remember Mady's 'no filming' sign on her bedroom door? :(

Ummmm.. I think most who post on this blog KNOW that the McDonald's comment by Kate was not literal. Please, give us a bit more credit.

That said.. yes, I agree with you that anyone going through a divorce (with children involved) will be emotional and perhaps melodramatic. But, these 2 people have opted to play out their divorce on talk shows and tabloids. THIS is the major reason they will receive limited support and understanding.

They continue to spew that its all for "the kids". This gets more difficult to believe when all they are crying about who is taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from the other, about who is cheating on whom, about what the name of the show (which they have said many times is .. "their life") should be.

I just watched Larry King Live. I do not get it at all.
Everyone addressed about the kids on the show. They came to consensus at the end Kate will prevail and get to film the kids. Not one panel expert addressed the show is diving in ratings and the public is not supporting how these parents are acting.

What is it? I think my parents raised me well. But, I am not connecting the dots here.

Kate has more to lose in this money dispute. She has always feigned poverty - .even after the love offerings, the t.v. show, book deals, and freebies. Her fans believe her too. Now she claims that Jon took $200,000. Gee I thought they were pulling money from the couch cushions to make the mortgage payment. Jon and Kate actually said this in one of their first shows.

Jon is coming out and saying that Kate kept a deadbolt on her bedroom door which is also where the financial records were kept. He is also claiming 11 bank accounts and $1,000,000 earnings from the book Multiple Blessings.

I think Kate's image will be damaged more than Jon's.

Just my two cents.

I do not really know what the heck is going on. This is what I see:

*heavily mortgaged homes
*no cooperation between these parents
*living beyond means
*manipulating
*children with nannies more than parents
*lying on both ends

& finally no one is answering hardball questions. How in the world can you produce/pay for a show that has no viewership and is not telling a true story.

Jon and Kate do not know what is in store for us today...I am positive though it will hurt your already crippled image, your children's livelihood, and will not make sense at the end of the day. Of course, maybe this all makes perfect sense. You BOTH were not ready to handle fortune "for the sake of your kids"

Z, you need to write a review on how Kate gets a free pass everytime she pops up on the View, Today and Larry King. She is never interrupted, she is never redirected to the questions she doesn't answer, she is never asked follow up questions to explore the truth of her statements. This woman can literally accuse her husband of bankrupting her family and get away with it. Enough is enough.

What Kate said on the Today Show was that John drained their accounts of all LIQUID funds. She didn't say that he left her penniless. However, when all your ready cash has been looted you are not going to be able to make that $9K mortgage payment if it's due in a couple of days or a week. (They have a $720K mortgage on that house).

No doubt these folks have CDs, stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other long-term investments, however it can take a week to a month to liquidate such assets.

Kate's comment about the children being taken care of was a reference to their TRUST FUNDS, which are long-term investments, and would never be looted by a responsible parent.

Jon's behavior in all of this has been erratic and bizarre and Kate has been the responsible one. She isn't whoring around, showing up at bars, and spending gobs of money on luxury items. A few haircuts, a gym membership and some manicures don't compare to a NYC apartment, trips to St. Tropez, fancy sports cars, and lots of money spent on girlfriends.

The "body language" expert article is a joke. No credible expert would judge what's going on from a group of pictures, much less ONE picture. I am sure that there were times when all was well between Jon and Kate, and the kids were crying. It happens regardless of what's going on between the parents.

Perhaps Kate CAN work for McDonalds... Maybe they could use a spokesperson for when they roll out a new "Chicken McHarpie" sandwich.

I found this on another site and it is a must read! It states that Jon and Kate have never been destitute. They felt that they should not have to use their own money to support their kids because they had eight--it should be society's responsibility!
All this while they had a large sum of money sitting in their bank account from Jon's dad. Sound Familiar? Seems like Kate is pulling the same scam again.

Those of us who have followed the Gosselins since the 6 were first born, know that this couple have proven themselves to be charlatans and manipulators. I think Kate is the brains behind the sham, but Jon has followed diligently.

The above post by Anonymous touches on their long time quest for funding.

5 years ago, their family website gave information on which utility companies and stores they used , so well meaning people could contribute to their monthly bills. And, they DID.

But, I think the best quote that ever came from Kate was when she was losing a nurse paid for by Medicaid. This nurse was given to them for a year! At the end of the year, Kate wanted Medicaid to give her another year with this nurse. When told NO, she had the gall to say that the Government held responsibility to help fund these kids, since the government allowed science to make multiple births a reality.

WOW. So, you can see, what we are seeing now from these people is just an exaggerated version of who they have always been. Only now, they have notoriety and money.

But, as we all know, becoming famous (or infamous?) and rich, does not make you a good person or give you class.

On another note, I've come to the conclusion that all Kate's appearances on talk shows are now merely auditions for a future in the media world. It doesn't matter what she spews, as long as words come out of her mouth, she is auditioning.

So, the past few months of hearing/seeing this couple just proves you can take the bumpkin out of the patch, but he / she is still a bumpkin.

What a world we live in. While I am not a supporter of Kate I at least can comprehend what she meant with her "work at McDonalds" statement. I would also do what it takes to take care of my children, there is no harm in what was said. She has responsibilities to tend to while Jon runs free. Who really cares how she spends HER money? Not for us to judge while she is the one earning it. Taking the kids off of the show is crazy at this point, Jon didn't get his way so now it's over. Childish. Better start removing all of the children from the circus families that have been around for years. How many of us go watch that show? Yet peta complains about the mistreatment of the elephants, evaluate that one.
