Kate Gosselin's spin-o-rama: Too much to bear

I surrender. An hour of trying to follow the twists and turns of Kate Gosselin's narcissism is just too much for me. It is astonishing how she can take almost any question and arrive at a variation of the same answer: "I did it for my kids."

The hour of Kate Gosselin answering questions allegedly written by fans started with the dogs Monday night, and my head absolutely exploded four minutes into the session when she said at first that she got rid of the dogs for the sake of the dogs. And then, she said she got rid of the dogs for the sake of the kids.

And she showed no awareness whatsoever that she just gave two different answers without taking a breath. This may be more than narcissism. This might be pathology. But she's the so-called medical expert, not me. As a critic, all I can do is ask you to notice how she set up a false forced choice, and tried to make herself the Great High Selfless Mother for getting rid of the dogs.

Here's part one of her convoluted answer: "We have a lot going on. I feel like a lot is falling through the cracks, which I hate, because I'm not at home full time, because it takes so much to run the house. And I knew that the dogs needed more than I could give them. And never when I got them, did I have any intention of giving them back ever," she says.

But even she seems to know this isn't cutting it, so she shifts to part two: I did it for the kids.

"...I prefer to give all my heart and soul and all my energy to my kids," she says. "As a mother, you know, I'm sorry, if you have to choose between dogs and kids, kids come first.... It was really hard, because I didn't want the kids to have to go through any more changes, but the dogs' needs needed to be met."

And here's the real kicker: "Are they gone forever? I'm hoping not. I still hold out that at some point things will calm down and the dogs can come back."

Oh great, Kate, and the dogs can then be ripped out again of whatever home and sense of routine they hopefully have come to know? This is the definition of narcissism -- no sense of any living thing except as it relates to her.

I admit, her treatment of the dogs and the self-serving, dishonest spin she put on it in attempt to block out any feeling a normal person would have for the suffering of these animals makes me crazy.

But I was sane enough to see the same tired old thought pattern dominate the entire hour: "I did it for my kids." When answering a question as to how how much help she has, even Kate seemed to hear how extravagant her staff sounded by the time she got to listing four employees including a full-time babysitter and a "girl who comes in to clean."

And so, she went back to the old bromide: "It's about safety for my kids," she said. "I need a second adult with me for the kids...It's about quality of life for the kids."

And on and on it went. And oh, the absurdly inflated ego.

"It's humbling" she said when asked about people standing in long lines for up to eight hours to see her on book tours. Humbling to who? Maybe for those who would stand in line to meet her. It's not humbling to her. It has clearly made her think she is a star -- a movie star, in fact.

Yes, that is one of the things she said Monday night that she sees for herself down the road: being in a movie.

As what, Kate, a person who looks into the camera and makes up crazy rationalizations as you did Monday night?

She also told us that she "holds" herself "to a higher standard." A higher standard than who, Kate? Jon? That's not hard. Avoid sleeping with sex partners less than a decade younger than you are, and you already have a leg up on Jon.

Several stalwart commenters at this blog had suggested that we play a drinking game Monday night, downing a shot of a strong beverage every time Kate says she did something bad for the good of the kids. I don't think I would have made it past the second commercial break before passing out if we had played that game. But it surely would have made for a less painful hour of this Kate Gosselin spin-o-rama.

How about you? How did you survive the hour? And did you hear the promo for next week about the whole show being an interview of Kate conducted by Natalie Morales? It's titled "Kate: Her Story." Can you bear it?

Jon betrayed Kate's trust by sleeping with other women. Not only does she have to handle that emotional baggage but she has to parent alone.

My hope is that by seeing her life the people will demand that their state representatives do something about our liberal adultry and divorce laws. This affects so many lives.

Hi, Z. Thanks for taking one for the team and reporting back to us on what we all knew would be a frustrating, maddening, same-o, same-o performance.

I am proud to say that I spent the hour watching Apollo 13. That was far more inspiring than listening to the vapid, self-absorbed ignoramus bleat her stock answers.

TLC is going to keep running these stupid interviews with her as long as people keep watching. I think we, collectively, have the power to stop it, if we so choose.

Hi AnnC: Right now at midnight, I would have to say it feels like you made the better choice. And I think this great team of bloggers here has to talk it out this week -- whether we all want to stop watching next week when it officially becomes "Kate Plus 8," and from the episode description, it sounds mainly like it's "Kate Plus Kate." Maybe it is time to try and help TLC pull the plug. But I have to say I did have fun online with the cxommenters and bloggers all day talking about tonight. Z

walk in her shoes (heels) for this past year - then write this - and see if it sounds the same...

Kate doesn't have to wear heels. As she said tonight in another fabulously exclsuive moment, she wears them because it makes her look taller -- like no one knew that. As for walkinmg in her shoes this year, according to episodes I saw this year, what she mainly did is visit luxury vacation spots and get an expensive new kitchen. Thanks. Z

Z, you did a wonderful job putting words to this farce. I can barely string a coherent sentence together after watching Kate attempt to answer simple questions. Jethro Bodine wanted to be a double-knought spy and Kate Gosselin wants to be in the movies. That about sums it up for me.

Oh, wow, CAH, you went to the deep well with the Jethro Bodine comparison. Brilliant. "Let me tell you all a story about a man named Jed...." You made my very long and late night end on a smile. Thanks. PS I have to tell you, it was very hard to write after seeing this. I thought I was just tired. But after what you wrote, I now think the problem involves the strange way that Kate thinks and talks. Trying to follow it, for 60 minutes shreds the brain or something. Z

Great article David. I would love to hear her answer the question: "Kate - you have used fertility science to further your career, I mean have more kids. Does this mean you're going to be a passionate advocate for stem cell research?"

The Kate Show is just starting here on the West Coast and even my remote control is boycotting the almighty one :) I guess the remote prefers Dancing With The Stars to Dances With Lies...weird huh?!!

I'll give in & watch the Midnight showing; with my blinds closed, huddling under the blankets. I'd hate for my neighbors to catch me watching; we do live on an Army base ya know, they can 5150 ya here!!!

Thank goodness you didn't partake in the drinking game Z...we need you around here!!!

Hey Holly, Yes definitely go with "Dancing with the Stars." And I warn you if you do watch Kate at midnight, you will wind up where I am now -- tired, wired and slightly crazed by Kate's crazy answers. But we can talk about it tomorrow. And AnnC has already put a boycott proposal on the table for next Monday. But enjoy Dancing, and yes, do not at all costs let your neighbors on the base know. Take care. Z

This is for Tammy - why do you see Kate as a victim? I'm no fan of Jon, but don't you think Kate was extremely nasty to him? If a relationship is not working, either party should have the right to end it.

My hope is that by seeing both their lives state representatives will be more sensitive to fame-seeking parents and not allow them to exploit their kids for money. With all the people suffering and trying to bring up kids in this country with no money, no homes, no jobs, how can you possibly feel sympathy for Kate? She said the kids cried when the cameras were taken away - and used that as a reason that the show should go on. This is ludicrous. If the kids are doing something bad for them, and when told to stop they start crying, is that the reason to let them keep doing it?

Kate cares more about fame and money than she does about her kids well-being. I have nothing but contempt for her.

Hi AZlex, Thanks. Yes, maybe rules about kids being on TV would be a better priority. Thanks. Z

Tammy: Where do you get the idea that Kate is parenting alone? Jon takes his custody time just like she does. He goes and gets the kids at the bus stop, he plays with them, he takes them to the doctor.... he's as much a single father than she is a single mother. If you scoff at that, know that I am being sarcastic... neither of them is doing much parenting - they have full time nannies and babysitters.

Good point on Jon's custody time....And there is that staff with those "girls" who come in to clean and such. Kate says she is never without another adult. Thanks. Z

Thank you for "zoning" in why Kate Gosselin is such a troubling individual. Her dismissive tossing of each e-mail after her response was so symbolic of her attitude towards people in general...and she is big on symbolism, isn't she? I'm finished with this show...and TLC. Jon, despite his many missteps, is the truer parent to these wonderful children.

Great point, AnnM, about her tossing those papers. She does have contempt for the audience, and she shows it many ways just like that. I totally missed that in the Monday special. Great insight. Thanks. Z

Nobody is forcing anyone to watch this show or any other. I really enjoy it, and love to see the adorable kids. Turn the channel and watch American Chopper or something more to your tastes

How much of the kids did you get Monday night? How much do you expect next week when Natalie Morales interviews Kate? Thanks. Z

I stayed up late just to read YOUR comments on the show. I think she actually wore you down with all of her great insights such as being tired " of being alone with all her aloneness." and comparing herself to Matt Damon. The human brain can only try to untangle this hot mess so long! Hopefully, most just gave up trying within the first few seconds. Thanks for hanging in there for all the rest of us who, like balloon boy, ran for the nearest barf bowl.

Hi Patti, Thanks for staying up and checking in. She did wear me down, I think. You are right. The aloneness of her being alone -- yes. See, I can't even get that straight. I actually taped it to try and untangle her words. Hot mes, yes, yes, yes. Thanks. Z

Kate is a facile liar, pretty good with words, fairly smart, cold and sharp-tongued, and a totally self-centered woman. Jon is not a facile liar (would that he were), is often inarticulate, probably not the brightest guy, but unlike the harridan to whom he is/was married, he is warm, loving and clearly devoted to his children. I'll take Jon any day. He may be immature, naive, needful and vulnerable to others (including lawyers), but he's the genuine article, whatever his flaws--unlike Kate. I would hate to have that cold fish for a mom. Poor little Gosselin's. Bet THEY like Jon best. They sure seem to!

I switched over during a DWTS commercial & something struck me. I guess the question was about her freaking out, yelling etc; they showed a montage of her going banana sandwich (about the kids eating strawberries, the Crayola Factory) & a few other moments of not so nice Kate. What struck me? In each of those segments, they showed Jon being cool, calm, collected & loving towards the children.

Sometimes I don't think TLC realizes how many times they shoot themselves in the foot. Maybe all those high heels are steel toed?

She said it and I shudder to think of those poor 5 year old babies on their first day of school being told that their classmates watch them on TV. Can you imagine what that must feel like? Especially with the divorce and confusion in their lives. Horrible woman, in heels or flats (to be shorter, dontcha know).

I can't help feeling that the show is as much if not more the culprit than Jon's cheating. I find it disgusting that all of this is going on. The show should have been cancelled as soon as there was even the consideration of divorce. To continue this sideshow is ridiculous and so far as I'm concerned, not in any way looking out for the interest of the kids. Does anyone really think that the kids don't know what's going on? How do you think the kids will feel as they get into their teens and have to re-live all of this in the re-run, after re-run of the episodes. I think in this case, Jon has it correct, that the contract should be ended, and the show and it's re-runs stop being aired. I can't believe how many times the series episodes are played over and over. I can't help wondering if these steps had been taken, that the two of them might have been able to get their lives back on track and get through this. As things are now, I can't see how they can keep the kids from seeing/feeling the friction that is between Jon and Kate. While I think that TLC, along with many of the other channels with "reality" shows do a good job, this is a time where they should take the initiative and stop the series as a matter of protection for the whole family, and allow some sort of agreement that wouldn't put too much of a hardship for the person(s) involved. If they don't have something in place, it should be developed asap to deal with any backlash from sponsors. It's time for the interests of the people involved in a series to come first rather than the "bottom line", or "the almighty buck". People have had such problems and have worked them out, and restored their relationships. Look at Bill and Hillary Clinton. I'm not necessarily saying that this is what Jon and Kate should have done as I don't know what the real story is (only they do). I am certainly not excusing what happened, but at the same time, it's not as if Jon were physically abusive.

Z - Thanks for struggling through this for us - on your birthday no less! I didn't watch and your article makes me glad I didn't. Movie star? Was she joking? Was she really comparing herself to Matt Damon? So, does she now fancy herself an actor? The dog excuse was deplorable! With all of those people she listed as her help, not one of them could have fed the dogs and let them out? With all that room they could have easily built a dog run/crate outside for them. Putting your kids before the dogs - really?? Try putting your spa schedule before the dogs. Makes me angry.

I guess this has confirmed that she is a delusional narcissist. Unfortunately, I think the only treatment is to shut her down.

Z - How do you think the "players" in Hollywood think when they hear that? Would anyone want to cast her?

Hi Suzi, I am thinking that if her ratings don't go up this week and next for the "Kate Plus Kate" show, she isn't even going to be in TV much longer -- let alone in films. What could she possibly do in a film, I wonder. And who is putting that stuff in her head, TLC? Saying if she plays ball, the world is hers? PS You made a wise choice last night. Z

Anyone watching this should have come across with exactly what Kate is about and its not the kids. If every answer must include I in it then its about the speaker and no one else.

For those saying Kate didn't do anything you've not watched the past few years, she berated and abused Jon on TV for years and I suspect off air as well. I also do not believe she's as innocent about a relationship with the bodyguard as her and TLC want you to believe.

Kate is about Kate and that's about it, and yes for the most part Jon is about Jon but at least when he answers questions he doesn't always seem to start with I. They both are addicted to the fame and fortune and that's very sad for their kids really.

I see Kate becoming like Joe Jackson, and trying to fit these kids up later into some sort of show. I don't think Jon would do that. At least I hope he wouldn't..
Kate as Joe Jackson . Hmmmmm. Interesting notion. Z

Dear Lois Halls @ post at 12:15AM, You are correct, no one is forcing us to watch the Gosselin show. But, unless something changed, American Choppers is also aired on TLC so we would not change the channel to see that show.

I enjoyed watching the children, too, but the way they were treated by Kate was too much to handle. Did you see the episode where Kate almost lost her voice screeching for the kids to get the paper towels upstairs and clean up the dog mess on the floor? Those poor children were petrified and scattered as fast as they could to alleviate their Mother's problem. I could never enjoy that.

Let them interview Kate every week for all I care. Keep the kids off the air unless they are getting a separate paycheck and have tutors on the days they are filming.

Hi TJ, Thanks for pointing out the Chopper channel. I did not want to sound snarky last night at midnight, and I felt like I might be heading in that direction. After a night's sleep (I got almost as much as Kate says she gets each night), I can see it is not snarky at all -- just a fact that the commenter should be informed of as you kindly did. Great points about the way the dog's clean-up seemed to freak her in a special way. And yes, if it would get the kids off the air, let her be interviewed every day. But without the kids, the ratings would totally disappear. Thanks. Z

While tearing apart Kate G is fun, she is actually quite pathetic if you listen to her command of the English language and see her insight into little beyond herself.

I was married to and had 4 sons with a man who suffered from and was diagnosed with severe narcissism. Kate makes him look insightful! The convoluted twists to justify their actions can drive you crazy until you realize that THEY are crazy.

It is a waste of time to try to change them or offer insight to anything beyond their view of the world (The world only revolves around them and they only see others actions and emotions for how it affects them). Kate is really not worth my, or anyone else's, time wasted in watching her- even for the fun it is to rehash what she says.

To me, the most important part of all this is the children. NO CHILD should be involved in Reality TV. It is an experiment on the lines of the Truman Show.

Every child development expert will tell you that children learn what they live. What do children in reality TV learn? That reality is not real. That they must allow strangers to document intimate and private moment of their lives. (Even to the point of photographing their "privates"). You may say that bathroom time is private but after you have filmed it and recorded in boxed DVD sets- what message does the child get. Actions will always speak louder than words.

What can people do to force networks to stop using children for profit? There will always be parents willing to use their children for fame and profit. TLC seems to suffer no consequences of their actions.

People continue to watch despite knowing that this (viewership) is what drives Reality Shows to continue- that people WILL watch even if they hate it.

I am so frustrated. None of the children on Reality Shows were capable of giving a informed consent - yet their lives, their emotional well being, privacy and personal safety have been sold.

You are so right about children and reality TV. I did not pay much attention to the issue, despite being a longtime critic who wrote a great deal about reality TV. But this show and the insightful and caring bloggers here opened my eyes to the problems with this family and reality TV. And thanks for help with the way the mind of a narcissist works to make sure they are always "right." Z

awesome post. Right to the point.

awesome post. I will leave it at that.

Thanks for this review Z. After reading it, I'm so sorry you had to endure a full hour of Kate Gosselin without an anesthetic of some sort and especially for having to waste that hour on your birthday evening. May the road rise up to meet you.

I love the Jethro reference, too, CAH. She wants to be a movie star now, hmm? Too bad they don't make silent pictures anymore.

TLC created THE dream setting for a woman suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder tonight One hour of Kate sitting there, answering preselected questions by people she thinks really love her. According to Kate, no one else in her family understands how special she is or loves her enough (and believe me, this includes the kids) however a cable channel crew " fully gets it." It looks like a crew of guys willing to put up with having eggs thrown at them don't have the where with all to leave. So she mugs at the camera, acts coy, makes little snide comments about her kids or Jon to the crew - and it never crosses her mind that TLC is using her. She is so clueless and pitiful.

it will be interesting to watch what happens when the kids get a little older, people lose interest and the doors close. I predict there will soon come a time when TLC drops the show and Kate will go on the talk show circuit to talk about how badly TLC treated her. And when that is over she'll talk about an eating disorder. And when that is over she'll talk about depression. And then she'll go on Celebrity Apprentice - and so on and so on.

Kate will always chase the "love" she thought she got from fans.

Nice analysis. Thanks. Z

I watched Dancing with the Stars - love that Mark Dacascos! I cannot fully comprehend why so many people are so fascinated with this woman. The horrible hair is enough to scare me, and halloween is still a week away! THANK YOU for reviewing this, so the rest of us don't have to watch.

Oh, and do you think Natalie Morales and Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera all had a coin toss, and Natalie LOST, so she gets stuck with the Kate interview?

I wonmder what NBC News' involvement is in this. I am going to check on that. Yes, Morales definitely lost. Z

I was laughing my butt off when she stated she would not be receiving any of the "proceeds" from the Mom of 8 wig that apparently everyone is dying to wear this Halloween.

I think this woman is so used to talking to groups, asking they spend their hard earned money on autographs so that the "proceeds" will fund college for her kids.

They are call PROFITS Kate. She is profiting of her kids' images just as those smart companies are PROFITING off of her ugly one.

I assume by now each of those kids will be enrolling in 5 colleges apiece by now.

i proudly can say that for 4 weeks i have avoided watching the show. yes, it was difficult at first because i was just as interested in the 'train wreck' as everyone. but i stuck it out and now it is quite easy.

i have to laugh because you have confirmed what i assumed would happen ... kate and 'me me me'.

if she truly placed a priority on her children she would downsize to a manageable home/grounds and choose to be with her children. no wonder jon is acting out - wouldn't you if you were freed from her grasp of mental abuse after 10 years ... this is probably the first time in those 10 years that he can see clearly.

i pray that the 'ban' on filming the kids continues and that we can no longer participate in the runiation of those kids.

Miss Priss emasculated Jon every time she corrected him during their 'loveseat' segment on the shows. Why would she not portray her distain for the viewing audience who would have the audacity to question her for this 'special q & a". That is why she pitched the trash off to the side (she has a 'cleaning girl to take care if that). That's her self-importance showing through and actually it is not very attractive.

In spite of all the naysayers and those who are jealous of her success, Kate's going to land on her feet...it's a sure thing! Her kids will be better off for it, too.

I do agree with Tammy, however. The fallout from divorce is ridiculous and is taken far too lightly. The amount of manpower it takes to replace an absent parent is incredible. If you choose to have children together, then get your act together and stay together. For folks who say they love their children but aren't willing to move heaven and earth to keep their home together--I say "hogwash" to their claim to love their children. It's all about them and their supposed "happiness." What about the kid's happiness? If you love them like you say you do, they should come first. You chose to marry each other; you chose to have children. Deal with it and stop the endless whining!

David, you are one of the few who really get it about Kate. She is in this for herself, not those beautiful children. Jon is no angel but he does show genuine love and affection for his children. Kate is like the Ice Queen to everyone whom she thinks is beneath her and that just about covers everyone she meets. She really does think she is a star....for what I question? She certainly is dillusional.
I really think she believes her own lies and ummmmm....answers and she could take a lesson or two in correct diction.
The questions and answers tonight are the ones she did not throw away. I bet there were some choice ones we missed. :)
Thank you for your insight and here's to the children being off t.v. permanently. If there is any justice in this world, Kate's balloon will finally burst and not the one she did a peep show in!!

Delusional -- that's the word I couldn't think of last night after Kate fried my brain. Thanks. Z

Z- You sound like such a nice man!! Are u married?? (a girl can ask, right?);)

BTW, there were(was?) more than one direct 'contradiction' made by Kate (as I'm sure u saw too)...but no worries, a full nite of sleep should help replenish our fuddled brains!

SHE SAID SHE WOULD NEVER STAND IN LINE TO SEE SOMEONE AND SHE REALY PUT HER SELF OUT THERE LIKE SHE WAS FAMOUS . SO IF YOU STAND IN LINE TO SEE HER IT'S BOOSTING HER EAGLE, THIS LADY IS CRAZY, SHE KEEP SAYING AMERICA LOVES HER KIDS SHE MAY BE RIGHT INSTEAD OF PLAYING WITH YOUR OWN KIDS YOU ARE WATCHING HER PLAY WITH HER KIDS AND SHE IS GETTING RICH TOO. WHY DO PEOPLE THNK IT'S EXCITING TO WATCH HER PLAY WITH HER KIDS? DO YOU PLAY WITH YOUR OWN? SHE BASICALLY STATED SHE AND HER KIDS AREN;T LIKE US NORMAL PEOPLE . GO TO WORK KATE

Once I got settled here at work I checked in to see if you'd put up a new blog about Kate's latest scam, Z. Thanks for spending time on your birthday. And to think that she'll be interviewed for next week's episode is unbelievable! I hope you found all the pieces of your exploding head.

Do you think Jon's got TLC between a rock and a hard place? They can't film the kids, but they have to continue with the show because of contractual responsibilities or they're left with a big hole in their programing, perhaps?

This might be a perfect time for us to help out TLC and suggest episodes for The Brand New Kate + Kate Show. They must have at least 10 left to film to finish out the season.

How about:
"Kate Goes to School" - Tune in to watch as Kate heads back to school to take a much needed course in English as a FIRST language.

"Kate Trains for the High Heel Marathon" - You won't want to miss seeing Kate popping her gum while she works out.

"Kate Visits Her Plastic Surgeon- Or Should I Trade In my C's for D's?" - Be sure and tune in for a BIG surprise in Kate's continuing makeover.

If the sheeple actually enjoy watching Kate Plus Kate, the term "dumbing down America" is taking on a very ominous meaning.

Hi Aly, That's a great idea. Let me think about it a bit. I am still recovering and trying to catch up with overnight comments. Great idea. Z

Against my own stated commitment to the contrary, I did break down and watch Kate's blather--TWICE. Everything she said was so convoluted that I wondered if I was just slow on the uptake and didn't grasp her message, so I watched the show again. But after a bit of time and some hard thinking, I believe I've got her pegged. Kate's words are confusing because they are intended to confuse. Evil does that. She's a classic case right out of M. Scott Peck's book "People of the Lie." Her words and deeds show a person attempting to hide evil behind a veneer of goodness. All I can say is, poor kids.

You know, you just can't change people. I called this a few weeks ago. All about her! I think the staff of TLC are so lame that they let her continute this nauseating "look at me" drama right to the end. She doesn't get it and obviously they don't either. Let's hope she just GOES AWAY!

Nobody does circular thinking quite like Kate Gosselin, and it always circles back to Kate. Always.

Instead of watching Kate lie to me, I watched *Lie to Me* on Fox, enjoyed my cocktail, and brushed my well loved dogs.

I am hearing rumblings about something happening on The Early Show on Tuesday morning. I have a feeling someone is going to be throwing a wrench into Kate's trip to the California Womens Show.

Sorry about your head, Z.. Don't know how many more of these you can bear!

Brushing the dogs. Good for you. "Lie to Me" is too perfect. "Circular thinking" is what she does, you are right. Z

Go Kate!! You were actually worse than I imagined. Poor kids. Kudos to Jon for sticking through this as long as he did. We watched the show because we grew to love the kids and now we are just filled with sympathy for them.

I only had one question for Kate but I doubt it was asked:

Have you promised to respect the privacy of your children and end all filming of them?

Anything else is extraneous bull s***.

Thank you for finally pointing out what should be painfully obvious to the public -- that Kate is a narcissist of the highest order and has zero self-awareness whatsover. Now can TLC and the rest of the country be done with her already?!
As for CAH's comment -- I don't want to hear Kate's opinion on stem cell research or peanut butter or anything else.

Z, Thanks for taking one for the team. I had planned on watching something innocuous on the Foodnetwork during Kate's show but alas hubby got a hold of the remote, while I was tucking in the little ones. We watched PBS' American Experience "The Crash of 1929". I believe I had the better time than you, at least I wasn't being lied to.

People enjoyed the show - and were inspired - when they saw the struggles & challenges of everyday life. Now it is just obnoxious.

I didn't realize that in order to survive and to make up the loss of a co-parent, Jon (who, by the way, shares temporary temporary custody/visitation with Kate) that one needs a full-time baby-sitter, a part-time baby-sitter, a girl who comes into clean, someone who does the lawn and let's not forget the bodyguard that she seemed to carefully ommit. And while we are at it can someone please explain to me with all of these employees on staff why is that she only gets 4-5 hours of sleep a night?

What amazes me is that teachers deal with 17 - 20 kids or more a day with other people's children by themselves but Kate needs an additional 3-4 staff people to deal with her own 8 children. I don't get it?

I also picked up on the way she just tossed her viewers questions to the floor after she was finished reading them. That goes show you just what she thinks of her beloved "fans." I supposed the papers strewn about didn't bother her because she has "a girl who comes into clean" and she will clean up the mess.

Did you also happend to catch how she mentioned that after it's humbling to have her "fans" stand online 8 hours to meet her she later went onto to mention that she would not mind meeting Julia Roberts, Tiger Woods, Matt Damon and Patrick Dempsey but then contradicted herself by saying that there isn't anyone she would stand on line to meet. So, does this mean that people need to stand on line to meet her but she's too good to stand on line to someone else.

My last comment is how she mentioned that a classmate of Alexis' commented to her that they watched her show and Kate told her to respond to the classmate by saying "I do not wish to discuss that." It is just to bad that Alexis could not simply say, "I do not wish to participate in the show any longer."

Maya, Thanks for articulating all those questions and pointing out the person(s) omitted from team of Queen Kate's household staff. Z

I can't bear to watch the show anymore so needless to say I missed this one. Thanks for taking one for the rest of us. I can just "hear" Kate thinking... Oh, enough about the dogs, staff and the kids.. back to me!

I coped by not watching. I am curious how the ratings were for this self-love fest; how low do they have to go before TLC pulls the plug altogether?

Thanks for sitting through the torture Z. I didn't watch and after reading your review, I think I made the right decision. How did this woman get such a pumped up ego?

I am glad that I ran across your site. Finally someone who isn't bought and paid for by TLC and tells it like it is. I am blown away with the "reporting" on kate on most MSM sites and all tabloid sites. I have to think that they do not watch the show because what they "report" is the polar opposite of what you see.

I no longer watch the show, I haven't in months. My long term hope is that the kids come out of this OK, J&K get real jobs and fade away and we are no longer tortured by their images on every tabloid cover at the market. I know it is wishful thinking....

I truly hope that you have recovered from the torture your mind endured last night. :)

Kate really is a selfish diva I don't doubt she loves her kids, but she loves the fame her kids brought her more than she loves anything else. Her main concern or main fear is that TLC will wisen up and take that lame lady off the show.

Z~LOVE your articles! I was not going to watch Kate the Great, but decided to turn it on just to see how stupid she thinks we all are! I couldn't get past her first 5 minutes, so I turned something else on, which anything was better! I can't believe there are people out there that believe in her BS. And as far as her "fans" standing in line for hours for her book signings, who are these people, and they have WAY to much time on their hands to waste precious time trying to see this pathetic person! I just can only hope like a lot of other people that Kate(and Jon also), fade from public and get "real" jobs to support their family!

Oh, so much spin again from Kate I forgot what channel I was on and there for a minute I thought I was on FOX with O'Reilly, maybe I was.

At one point she said she "liked psychology". Maybe she can find a job in that, she is good at mumbo jumbo. At least that would be her version. I like psychologist, except Dr. Phil.

Are these interveiws a way to not have the kids on camera. I think they said there would be another one from Natalie Morales (sp) ? Today Show??

She made me worn out.

I turned it on and after the dog question, I realized that nothing she said was giong to be worth listening to so I turned to Fox News. I swear, if the two of them say, "I did it for the kids" one more time, they will make a bishop kick out a stained glass window.

These people are NOT television stars. When are they going to realize that the masses are laughing at them, not with them.

Jon really ruined things by taking that money out of my account. We had pizza we also watched that darn show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I was gonna blame it on my husband. I will not blame him cuz you know I always take the high road but after 5 seasons of my dominating the television when Jon & Kate plus 8 are on he said we had to watch for the dogs, the bloggers & because Kate would say some important things.

So you Kate interns out there this is an organic lollipop born every minute and this South Mississippian is a secret flavor that ONLY Kate Gosselin could have created. And, I cannot tell you because TLC made me sign a disclosure contract before my digital cable would let me see her our should I say, before Kate would sound and "I" from her lips..

I will steal a line from our great leader ZZZZZZ AIAIAAIAIAAIAIAIAIAAIAI

I will have to get back with ya'll I took 5 pages of notes, but when I found out she wants to be a movie star, she finally relented she would not wait 8 hours to see somebody, that she found her niche on television, her sad excuse for why she doesn't whooaaaa....another interview next Monday,

& the advertisers, Chevy, petsmart, alamo, dawn and of all things SONIC? Let me give you a clue TLC Organic and Sonic aren't even in the same dictionary.

Guess, I will be served with legal suit for blabbing. Suzi J, I will take you up on that legal representation.

Good day ya'll. We have to stick together bloggers. We have been outnumbered. Kate was able to say "I" more times in one hour than words we post on Z ON TV. We have our work cut out for us.

I have watched this show from the beginning! I had even requested season 1 and 2 as a gift for x-mas in 2008! Thank god I decided to change my request to the full box set of "Rosanne"! Damn sure, Rosanne is a much better mother!

Roseanne was. And despite being a sitcom, it was closer to reality than this series. Z

Finally!! Now maybe I can get some rest! Gloria Allred has joined with Jodi & Kevin to push for national laws to protect all children on reality shows.

Maybe now the focus will be returned to the welfare of the children instead of the bickering of the adults. How could Kate possibly deflect this today as she autographs her books? That her children don't need protection by the legal system? That children don't need to have rights?

Should be an interesting day in California for Kate. Finally, it will really be all for her children. And to think it took an end run around her to do it.

Gloria Alred. Hmmmm. There's an attorney who knows how to play the PR game every bit as well as TLC. And if she makes J&K the poster show for reform in child labor laws, that is going to be very interesting to watch. As is often the case, Free, thanks for the update. Z

Thanks for the insights and for enduring this snorefest. I read a book. Haven't watched anything Gossellin in about a year. I feel sorry for the kids, having to deal with such a "me" centered mother. Her lips say "all for my kids" but her actions scream "me, me, me".

I coped by not watching. I am curious how the ratings were for this self-love fest; how low do they have to go before TLC pulls the plug altogether?

The major problem here is that you have a compliant and a controller. Jon is the compliant and Kate is the controller. The problem is that Kate doesnt really realize how rude she came across to Jon for all of those years and made him feel like nothing he did was good enough.. With that said... Jon had a choice to speak up years ago and actually talk to his wife letting her know that he did not appreciate being spoken to in that manner, and that he wasnt going to allow that! He chose not to, and instead got tired of it, and ran into the arms of another women..times 10! Both of their behavior is effecting their children...Not the camera's...their life choices! Jon makes me so angry and even more so than Kate.. because he chose to break a life long commitment with his wife by sleeping around with other women. If he didnt want to be with Kate, fine... but it wasnt necessary to go around with all of these women as if he is 21 and not a father who has little people looking up to him as a role model. He makes me sick...You get married...its for LIFE PEOPLE... LIFE...No excuse is ever good enough for divorse in my book... You chose it... deal with it!!!

She wants to be in a movie?! Based on what talent?! She can't be serious!

Why do people persist in claiming that Kate has to "parent alone"? She's only there HALF the time, she has 4 employees, she's constantly travelling, etc.

This situation is of her own making - JON is the one who went to couseling, SHE is the one who refused. This is the result of her narcissistic, big ego. You reap what you sow.

Z, great post.

I'm 100% on board for the boycott and I plan to go over NBC's website to protest the Natalie Morales interview.

Here's a thought: if Kate's kids learn how to treat and respect (cough, cough) their parents by watching Kate....does she really think her kids will talk to her in 15 years?! Kate threw her parents to the side of the road, why won't the Gosselin 8 do the same to Kate?

She's a idiot.

Hi, Kathleen. Thanks. I am going to contact NBC News to see what the dxeal is. I think there could be rfeal ethical problems for an NBC News employee doing this kind of controlled interview for TLC. I am sure "Today" gets some kind of tradeout. But this kind of prime-time puff interviewing is not appropriate for a newswoman or newsman to be involved in. But let's wait and see what NBC News says. All we have at this point is the TLC promo. And please, go to NBC and ask what the heck is going on. Thanks. Z

I didn't waste an hour of my life watching this NUT.

She is so arrogant and self-serving that I'm sure she won't survive long in any business...she'll be out on her hiney 'cause people won't put up with her rudeness. I'm sure she thinks even a nursing career is beneath her now so I'm not sure what this woman could ever do to support herself. I just hope it's something we OFF the airwaves.

I kept waiting for someone to ask her where her parents are and why she's denying her children that wonderful grandparent relationship.

random thoughts:

-She has a full time staff and yet she never thought to hire someone to help with the dogs?

-Calling her cleaning professional a "girl" is pretty rude.

- she went on and on about people "waiting in line for 8 hours" and then admitted that SHE would not wait in line to see anyone for 8 hours. She listed a few celebrities she would like to meet (hint hint)...what the heck did THAT have to do with the "burning questions"? Did a fan really send an email that said "Kate, how did you get the great hairstyle and what celebrity do you want to meet?"

I might sound old fashion, but I was raised to believe that the husband was to be the head of home NOT th tail!!! Kate has right from the first show treated this man with little or no respect in front of her children and the world! No matter how she feels and she has a responsiblity to show respect to their father especially when they are present. I have never heard a word about her father and their relationship? I think she has a problem with men in general?? I think Jon showed more respect toward her, even when he was being treated like a dog!! Should he have gone out with other women so soon no, but should have taken time to think things out. I do feel at some time he did have every right to get on with his life, maybe not so quickly. I pray for the children in the middle of this mess.

Early show has Gloria Allred and Kevin and Jodi Kreider. They are going to fight for federal laws concerning children on reality shows.

Did anyone see the snipette of Michelle Duggar answering questions for their next show? Geeze what a difference between her and Kate.

I don't know what it is though, I absolutely cannot stand Kate Gosselin and yet I Google her and Jon every day, read every article on them and then have to watch anything their on.

What is wrong with me???

There is nothing wrong with you. We have never had quite as big a fraud on weekly series TV, and it is fascinating sociology to see this so-called paragon of selfless motherhood and the family exposed. As Kate is exposed, so is reality TV. Thanks. Z

Kate and Sarah Palin have the same interview coach, clearly. ACK.

Gosh z & bloggers looks like from all the comments (I love them all) we now have a day and a night shift.

Z we need to get you some back up. Kate might can sleep only 4 hours (pleeasseee) but we wont put you through that. We will get you backup.

Hi Irene, Thanks for the sympathy. I need it. But we do have two shifts of bloggers. Isn't that neat? Thanks. Z

I think Kate would have to do a director to do a movie and I am not sure what percentage of the Jon and Kate audience view porn. Dancing with the Stars got my attention.

Z
I want to tell you I really enjoy your writing. I discovered you in this Gosselin summer as an attentive and observant voice in more mainstream media. You seemed to be one of the few who actually watched the show instead of relying on 10 word summaries of tabloid articles.
I started reading the Jon and Kate columns, but discovered a great TV critic. The Baltimore Sun is now my first stop on TV shows. Thanks

You just made my day. Thanks so much. I hope all the commenters and bloggers will check out the other TV stuff that I do, too, down the road. Z

I thought the show was a joke! She just gives the same lame answers for every question... I thought there was going to be something new that we have not seen before what a waste of an hour. I have 2 kids plus run a home day care center 50 hours a week and still manage to take care of my dog! She did not want those dogs to begin with if you watch the show when they got them. Don't promise your kids puppies then give them away!

KATE, PLEASE, GO AWAY

Any word on ratings yet? I read on-line yesterday something to the effect of "hoping to hit +/- $7M." I can't see how anyone could imagine that this fluff could pull in anything even close to that many people. I think the television viewing audience is ready for the Gosselins to GO AWAY.

None yet, but I am on it. It will be interesting to see. I expect them to go up from the 1.9 million last week. And even if she got a big tune-in, I bet the tune-out during the hour was huge. But this week and next week, the ratings will matter. Please check back. Z

Great article/review. I didn't watch as I knew it would be all "Kate" spin. The woman gives me a headache. I don't know how Jon survived being married to her for almost 10 years--I would have bailed long before.
She reminds me of the Steve Carrell character on the "Office"--she has no sself-awareness and pu a self-serving spin on everything.

I think kate comes across as wanting to play the part of the "jilted wife". When truthe be told Kate is the one that wanted the divorce in the first place. Jon is the one who TRIED to save the marriage by going to therapy. Again kate would have none of that. She only wanted Dr. Phil to tell jon what she wanted him to hear not what she needed to hear. And what she should have opened up and listned to is that her marriage was falling apart, no matter what she says, largely because of the show. Kate created this mess, Jon tried to stop it, and we are all feeding into it. I think Aunt Jodi had it right when she said we should STOP WATCHING and shut her down. Who cares who jon slept with? Jon is a free man its not like he was cheating on her. The way kate is handling this whole ordeal SHE is the one who should be embarrassed! I guess when you walk around with your nose stuck so far up in the air its kind of hard to smell the poo.

Z,

I think I heard Kate say her kids weren't suffering 99% of the time and if they wanted privacy they could go to their rooms. In her mind I guess that is the answer. WOW.

Apparently the talk/cooking show deal didn't work out, so Kate now wants to be a movie star...am I unknowingly in the twilight zone and the rest of you are in on it??

Dr Lillian Glass comments on Kate's body language from last night's crapfest.

I didn't watch (thank goodness) and have not watched in months.

However, it would have been pure comedy to hear that Kate wants to be in a movie? I just about bust a gut when I heard that one! :)

I can see it now, "Kate vs. Mothra" or "The Ego That Ate Wernersville", or "Invasion of the Childhood Snatchers".....

Anyone else want to play?

You're a brave man, Z! No way could I sit through that ridiculous hour. Didn't even try.

I would love to hear her spin on why she needs so much help for the kids now "for their safety" when she claimed to do it alone when they were toddlers. In my parenting experience, 5 1/2 and 9 year olds are much easier to take care of than toddlers.

I have watched the show off and on since the beginning but I have to admit that I have watched it more lately because I am a psychologist. It is fascinating to watch the pathology (yes, you chose the right word, Z!) of Kate and to compare that to the other person that she was early in the show. There were so many times during that hour last night that I found myself wishing that I could have her as my patient for even one session so I could challenge her on these shallow, trite answers that she spews. She is so wrapped up in her own head that she really seems to not see reality anymore. I wonder what will become of this person when the cameras and the attention go away. It won't be pretty. She is desperately clutching at anything to try to keep her 15 minutes going though. Movies? Puh-leeze! Tick, tick, tick...

Actually, higher ratings in this case might be a good thing. It means more people saw the "real" Kate Gosselin. Some day soon it's all going to go away and there is no doubt she will crash and burn...it's just a matter of when. I'm so glad Jon has pulled the kids away from the fire as best he can before this happens. Kate has thrown her children away and that's so sad for the kids. Every child deserves a good mother.

I think it's time to reiterate Heather's challenge again!

For those who support Kate, please provide three concrete reasons of what Kate does to be a good mother, successful, a "strong woman" or any of those other terms you like to throw out.

Calling other posters "jealous" (is that a tired argument or what??), saying it's "for the kids" and trashing Jon are not acceptable reasons.

Since Heather posted her challenge we have not had ONE SINGLE poster take the challenge. That speaks volumes in my book!

Kate did answer one question that I had asked about the hair. She showed us who her hairdresser was and said she was ready for a change. Something about the "spike attitude", and the Halloween wig was crazy. Too bad we already had trick-or-treat in our neighborhood.

Well I have to run. I have a lunch date with a friend. I'll be back.

I'm glad Gloria Allred is getting involved. I haven't seen the Morning Show clip, but at least it's movement in the right direction.

I read that Kate insisted last night that filming is not harmful to her children. Did she provide any kind of reasoning? Did the children's therapist tell her that?

We know that if not carefully managed and cared for, child actors often have life-long issues stemming from their early fame. We also know that children of acrimonious divorces often develop deeply rooted self-esteem issues and have trouble engaging in constructive relationships.

So why on earth would Kate think that being on a reality TV show which is focusing on their parents' nasty divorce is not harmful for her children??? Has she absolutely no reasoning capacity?? Please, someone explain this to me, because I really just at a loss on this one.

Well, there goes Natalie Morales', reputation! --

I couldn't survive the whole hour, watching her is pure torture - I tuned in for a little bit and flipped around the channels and came back when she spinning another yarn, but then really couldn't take it.
Everything that I did hear was a bunch of utter nonsense and all seems contrived, fluff questions probably written by TLC and fluff answers provided by TLC scripts. Oh - and if she ever wants to be taken seriously on TV as a show host or whatever then she needs to stop adding "-ish" and "-ness" to the end of words, it's embarrassing and makes her appear quite ignorant.
She is deluding herself with the whole repetition of "everything for the kids" ~ I guess her handlers think if she says it enough times she can convince not only herself but anyone that is on the fence about this show.
Reality shows are terrible for children - there are so many examples out there, plus they don't have a choice in the matter when their half-brained parents think it's the only way to support their family. There really ought to some laws protecting these kids.

Z.. really good synopsis of the hour that changed the world! (Or at least Kate's world)

Some posters already commented on the one thing that hit me immediately: the way she made a point of flipping the papers into the air after "answering" each question.

It brings me to believe that there is not one derogatory remark this past year made towards Kate that she has taken to heart. This woman is so delusional regarding her own importance that she honestly feels above all other people. Not only people in her family or immediate circle, but every single person in the world. The grandiose attitude is past unbecoming, its on another level.

Yes, I guess that is a narcissist, but I think it even goes further. I wish a true professional would post on this blog or just contact Z personally to give a truly accurate reading on how her brain works.

Thank God those kids have each other for comfort and as they get older (as in the twins case) I think they are seeing what they are up against. All children figure out their parents and act or re-act accordingly.

Aly - Great idea! I think TLC should have Kate do cameos on their other programming (after all, TLC isn't a one hit wonder, right Eileen??). My ideas:

1. Kate on "Dirty Jobs": Kate wears high heels for her day in the landfill. Oh Kate!

2. Kate on "Toddlers & Tiaras": Kate shows the contestants how to achieve the perfect spray tan, sparkling teeth veneers and fake smile!

3. Kate on "My Monkey Baby": Finally, Kate gets her dream of "just one"! Turns out Kate and her monkey baby have so much in common... a love of organic food and a creepy fascination with poop!

I managed to watch a portion of it. I laughed about the dog comment. Like any sane person would turn those two dogs back over to her. Once you give away a pet, most breeders/shelters aren't willing to return the same pet to the owner. She never wanted those dogs.

How about the comment of the vow renewal in Hawaii? I laughed at that.

I read this morning where she's out in California at the women's conference Maria Shriver is hosting. Article I read said Kate was put in a tent to the side of the area for book signing. Hardly anyone showed up. I just smiled. What goes around comes around. In that article it said Kate enjoyed doing "8 little miracles" (or whatever the exact title is) as it was a scrap book and she enjoyed looking up the bible verses.

Guess old Katie has misplaced her bible??

She needs a staff cause she's not home. Is she at home for 7 consecutive days?

If the money hungry woman had an ounce of a brain in here head, she would have copywritten her haircut so she could have received some kind of payment for the halloween wigs. Wonder if one day Mady will be "mommy" for halloween and beat the crap out of some poor boy.

She's broke but has a staff. I love it....staff. Would you want to work for this woman? I remember an early episode, when the sextuples were toddlers she interviewed people for cleaning lady position. after one day, the woman that she hired left. of course Kate put the spin on it that the woman didn't clean behind the tv/vcr cabinet.

Kate gives new meaning to "me, myself and I", but the best interest of the children is my priority".

I love how Kate got some jabs in at Jon, thinking she was 'subtle" with her snarly chuckle and eyes glancing to the side (camera person?)

When asked to describe each child, she went down the list. I found it interesting that she described 3 of the children as loving and interested in animals. Yet, the only animals they ever had in their lives were given away.

Then she goes on to Joel. She says he will probably be a model or actor, and that "he'll suck some girl in and then she will realize he is clueless.. wait, hasn't that been done before".

So, she is saying SHE was sucked in by Jon? Hey, Kate, I don't think so.. that poor guy didn't know what hit him. But, he does now!

Jon betrayed Kate's trust by sleeping with other women. Not only does she have to handle that emotional baggage but she has to parent alone.

Tammy-
Only 2 months after the "wedding vow renewal" in Hawaii, Kate told Jon she no longer wanted him as a partner.
How can Kate be parenting "alone" while Jon is still involved in their lives?

More from Kate: (not her exact words, but close enough)

".. maybe I could be in a movie or the voice in a cartoon"

I can't remember which season it was, but in one episode, Ms Kate made a statement that her best attribute was her VOICE.

"..my kids want me to look good, so that's why I wear heels and look fashionable"

Yeah, Kate... all the moms at the bus stop wear low cut shirts and bend over to help the kids onto the bus. Wonder if that driver is male? While setting up some stupid blow up thing in front of the garage, she was hanging out of her dress and sat cross-legged so there was nothing left to imagination. NICE for kids.

"...the show has given us the opportunity to parts of the world (did they ever leave the continent?) and miss out on meeting people (Emeril in their kitchen?) if the kids won't be filmed anymore, we will be missing out on a lot of stuff"

Wondering Kate.. how much more STUFF do 9 and 5 year olds need?

".. after the first day of school, Alexis said some kids said they watch her on tv and that she didn't like them saying that... I told her not to say anything except : Thank you, I don't want to talk about it"

Yeah, Kate, that's great advice to a child. She is TELLING you she feels uncomfortable and you are giving her advice that will make the other kids regard her as a snob or rude. Do you think that is the advice given to legitimate child actors by their parents? How about just telling Alexis to say thanks and then ask about THEIR life or to say thanks and talk about the show?

Grrrrrrrrrrr

Gloria Allred, hired by Jodi and Kevin Kredier (Kate Gosselin's brother) announced on the Early Show this morning that she is spearheading a campaign to have federal laws passed protecting the rights and interests of children on reality shows.

I think this is the best development ever. While it is fun to snark on the weird ineptitude of the parents, I think that TLC has engineered the whole Team Kate and Team Jon conflict to obscure any real concern that viewers may have over the exploitation of the children.

I don't think the issue is whether Jon cheated first or whether Kate is lying the most. The fact to me is that the children are being exploited so that their parents can make a lot of money for little work. There are many copy cats out there who see reality shows as a quick and easy road to fame and fortune, and have no qualms in using their children as a draw.

We as a society have to give up our need to be entertained at the expense of children. Lets support this campaign, and have laws passed to protect the rights of children in reality shows.

I think Jodi and Kevin are the heroes of this entire saga!

Surprised no one caught the comment Kate made about "putting the salt & pepper in the fridge"! With her narcissism ... violet rages...things we don't see ...could this be the start of Altzheimer's? She is a mess and is getting worse. The kids probably are seeing her actions getting worse. If she doesn't get her way, she will crack ...just like she did at the TV studio. Kate avoids discussion re Steve ... I would just like to know why they sign into a hotel as "Mr. & Mrs." and why does he stay in her hotel room all nite ... because she is scared of ghosts?

Reply to Shannon 8:19 am.

You stated "NO excuse is ever good enough for divorce in my book"

Wow, that's quite a statement.

Do you believe that if a woman or man is battered or constantly verbally abused that he/she should stay in that marriage?

Do you believe that if one of the spouses continually has affairs that the marriage should continue?

Do you believe that if one of the spouses just grow to totally not LIKE the other, that they should stay together?

Yes, Shannon, people take oaths and at the time of that oath, I'm sure they plan and hope to be together forever. I agree that in this day and age, marriage has become a disposable commodity , but find it hard to believe that you honestly believe your own statement.

Z, I absolutely love your column and now find myself reading it every single day.

As for the debacle that is now the Kate show, you can see TLC literally scraping the bottom of the barrel to try to cull together shows. First a Q&A episode, next an interview episode, and then they're going to be throwing together a "greatest hits" show and a "bloopers" show. Will the "greatest hits" show be comprised of Kate's best rants? Will the "bloopers" show actually show Kate being nice to Jon or the kids and acting like a real mom?

Reply to Jen (8:27 am)

You ask .. did a fan really email asking about the "great hairstyle" and what celebrity did Kate want to meet.

Jen.. WAKE UP! hahah. These are the fans that keep this farce of a show on the air. These are the fans the come onto this blog and scream that Kate is a wonderful mother and strong woman and all who disagree with her are actually jealous!

Jen, we are STILL waiting to hear from one of those fans to enlighten us with even ONE actual fact to back up their devotion to this odd woman.

Kate is so full of herself it is sickening. She always says how she hates the paparazzi, but if you notice, she wore tiny bikinis on this year's shows at the beach and in her driveway knowing her picture will be on a zillion covers. On old shows with jon and the kids she wore a very conservative one piece. So, Kate, if you know they are watching, why would you do that except to be in the spotlight? Her poor kids.

Ok, now this might be put in the "petty" inbox.. BUT..

Does it bother anyone else here that Kate pronounces the "T" in "often"? Each time she used that word and it WAS often, it was like fingernails on the blackboard to me.

Now, I realize it is "acceptable" to use either pronunciation, but seems to me the people that pronounce the "t" usually butcher many words and are rarely grammatically correct.

I mean, does Kate say "I am going to put the fabric sofTener in the machine?"

Haha.. I think the Kate thing last night did me in!

Maura,

I just loved your post - it sums up exactly how I feel about this show and children in reality TV. I did not watch, will NEVER watch. I have and will continue to participate in any letter writing campaigns calling for the removal of children from reality shows.

Z, thank you for keeping tabs on this fiasco and for being so open minded about the thoughts and opinions of commentors on your blog. I've been reading your blog regularly — not just the ones about the Gosselins — and I think you offer thoughtful and insightful perspectives about what TV puts out there.

Lina

Hi Z, when you check to see what connection there is between TLC and NBC could you also check if there is a connection with TLC and PEOPLE magazine. I'm wondering why PEOPLE is so pro-Kate and doing so many features on her in the last few months. They maybe just exploiting the Gosselins situation for readership but I'm wondering if there is something else in common between TLC and the magazine and also NBC. I have read that Bill Geddes, the producer of The View also produces programs for Discovery so I guess that might explain how Kate got the guest host spot on that program. Maybe TLC/Discovery is connected to PEOPLE and NBC also.

Good morning Z,
Hope you could sleep after that. I guess that 1 of my questions got answered indirectly. I have thought for a long time that Kate is afraid to be alone with her little guys and have long suspected that she has never been alone with them. Looks like I was right since she always has baby sitters. I do not understand how anyone can think she is a good Mom. She isn't much of a Mother at all.

I am not watching and haven't for about a year now. I watched dancing last night.

Didn't you have something on here last night about banning TLC and putting Kate and Us out of our misery?

"they're not suffering from this, the fact that they have different experiences they need to handle is only going to help them in life"

Geeez, Kate... toss 8 kids under the age of 9 into a den of lions. What in their future life will they be asked to handle will rival that?

Well, I guess I just answered my own question! They will need this "experience" to get them through the next 15 - 20 years of their lives with Kate as a mother.

Mother's Life Lesson: Everyone for themself!

That laugh last night annoyed me to death. But, I am glad she did it. That is the true blue Kate.

Will she be embarrassed one day to have her kids watch that? She totally totally ridicously Hellooo indicted herself last night. All these months of "I want my children to look back" Honey, you better just make your kids keep looking forward, cuz that edited interview if that was the best of what TLC could show....Can ya'll imagine the unedited....whoa...now that will make your head explode.

Z...job security dude...we have enough to talk about well into Season 18.....

If Kate wants to be truly honest, perhaps she should just admit that she has to pimp the kids out for cash because she isn't smart enough, tough enough or driven enough to support them through her own efforts. I mean, isn't that basically the case? She wears the "reality show mom" like a badge of honor when really, quite frankly, it's a badge of "loser" if you ask me.

She and Jon couldn't put their four brain cells together to figure out a way to support themselves and their family on their own without having to make the kids sing for their supper?

Kate has this delusional idea that somehow the world thinks of having a reality show as an accomplishment, when really it's kind of like throwing your hands up in the air and declaring, "Ya got me...I guess I'm too dumb to take care of myself after all".

If Kate only knew what the honorable, hard-working, successful parents at her childrens' school REALLY thought of her....but a narcissist rarely considers that anyone could possibly think less of them than they do personally of themselves. That's the horror and the comedy of the entire situation.

Kate is partially right about being in a movie. She is destined to go down in infamy as one of the worst mothers of our time, so of course a movie will be made about her. I'd bet one is in the works already. Whoever said she's delusional is right. You could sit Kate down, put her head in a vice, hold her eyes open with toothpicks and make her take a real look at herself, and she'd see only a "star." And, boy, are those kids going to pay for it one day.

Suzi J, it has been several days with nary a peep or even an attempt by Kate's admirers to provide some examples showing her to be inspirational or a good mother. Not surprising. We knew it was an impossible task they were charged with.

I am very glad to hear that Gloria Allred has become involved to push for laws to protect children on reality shows. And while I love visiting with everyone here, and would miss all the astute and humorous comments about the parents on this particular show (there will be plenty of other things we can talk about here), I believe that we all have the same goal at heart: to protect the Gosselin children, and all other children being exploited by Reality TV (and to hold accountable all parties associated with allowing it to happen).

Here are some suggestions of things we can each do to support this effort:

Contact Gloria Allred, Paul Petersen, and Jodi and Kevin, and let them know you support them. Positive reinforcement is very powerful to build momentum.

Contact your representatives in Congress urging them to introduce laws protecting children on Reality TV. The timing is perfect because of Balloon Boy.

Contact the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and demand to know why their investigation has not been expedited, especially in light of the fact that the State of Colorado acted within days of the Balloon Boy fiasco to involve their CPS to protect the Heene children. PA should be embarrassed.

For those who find it impossible to resist the draw of watching Kate embarrass herself, contact TLC and let them know that you will go ahead and watch her ridiculous self-love-fests for the sport of it, as long as they do not film the kids.

For those who can't bear the thought of having Kate's face and voice in their home, and never want to see or hear from her again, resist the urge to watch. This WILL affect the ratings numbers.

Grassroots movements have the potential for ordinary people to make some extraordinary change. It just takes some time and commitment.

Z, I love this community you have nurtured here with your objective writings. Thank you.

Good Morning Z and board! :-)

I have to admit that even I had to put up my sippy cup of adult beverages last night !! I started making little notes about her "inconsistent inconsistencies" - but finally gave up and tossed the pen & paper in true Kate-style onto the floor.

She truly is the Queen of Circular Speech - but one glaring answer was to the question of "money for the kids - is it safe? can it be touched" Well, the answer came back that it was safe but darn if she ever addressed the "can it be touched" question. A revocable trust (which is what the deed to the house is in) isn't really worth the paper it's written on - as it can be accessed by the trustees for more or less any reason they (Kate) deem viabile. I have the feeling that the kids are going to have nada to show for the sell-off of their childhoods - my prediction, and I'm not Miss Cleo. ;-)

My laugh of the evening was in regards to Kate "wanting to do a movie".....perhaps fueled by my sippy cup - all I could think of was a porn flick titled "Kate + 8"

Hi tb98: You are right. That sent bells ringing in my brain, too, the vague way in which she spoke about money being there for college with no specific sense as to what kind of fund it was. You, Kate and the sippy cup, huh? She only drove me to the brink of madness and a massive headache. Z

Watched High School Musical 3 with kids, can't stand listening to more of her lies.
Hope state representatives get their acts together and ban all reality shows with minors in them. Enough is enough of this garbage.

Good morning Irene,
I only watched 5 min & so not to increase ratings. My # is low in this pool. I think I said 2.4

I had to stop watching because I heard Z's head exploid followed by every blogger screaming out their window, "I am mad has hell and not going to take Kate any longer." So I put the wine bottles back on the self and turned the channel. May watch later reruns or not.

So Z, looks like you were up most of the night....putting your head back together?

Z, if you haven't already, please check out Dr. Lillian Glass's blog. I think you'll find it interesting.

http://drlillianglassbodylanguageblog.wordpress.com/

Keep up the good work!!

Oh yes, thanks. Someone mentionde this morning, and I meant to check it out the second I get a chance. Thanks, I really want to see what she says about Kate's body language. Thanks to your link here, Dr. Glass is probably going to have a lot of nice traffic. But I trust your suggestion. Thanks. Z

Yeah the answer for what happened to the dogs hurts your head if you try to follow that logic. How can you say you don't have time for two dogs but your lifestyle is perfectly healthy to provide all the time you need to 8 children. And I was actually laughing at the insane dogs vs. my children so of course I would pick my children, you can use this to delude yourself into anything. Well I could spend the money on my children or pay my taxes, of course I pick my children. Well I could get home 5seconds sooner to my children or not push this elderly person out of my way, of course I picked my children over a stranger. Abuse and mistreat anyone you want and its fine as long as you "did it for your children"

I used to be a loyal fan of the show, however have stopped watching since news of their marital problems first hit and I learned more about their behind the scenes antics.

The network and both parents should be ashamed at what they have done and are doing to these beautiful 8 children, all for the sake of making as much money as they can. There is no doubt that these kids are being negatively affected by the spotlight from both TLC and "papparazzi" cameras and from their parents' attempts to rip each other to shreds in the media.

Kate continues to use her children for her own self promotion. Seriously TLC, who wants to hear any more from this woman? I certainly don't, and I don't think most people who can think for themselves will either. We can all see what TLC is trying to do in promoting Kate's cause, but that ship has already sunk in the court of public opinion.

Goodbye TLC. You had me at "A BabyStory" but lost me when Kate said "Helllo!!!"

I'll play Jen. How about "My ex-Husband is an Alien" or "Attack of the Organic Tomatoes".

I think the most telling parts of Kate's personality and the biggest problems she has were evident in her hairstyle/halloween answer. First is her total disconnect from reality, yes Jon and Kate will be a popular costume this year yet she seems to think that a wig that is readily available and still sitting on every halloween shelf I've seen is "back order for months" and the equivelant of the tickle-me-elmo demand so that she needs to save the one she somehow got her hands on. She is disconnected from reality, a little bit of fame or attention and in her mind it becomes the biggest thing ever.

Also did you hear the venom dripping from her voice because she isn't profiting from it. People have been dressing up like celebs or pop culture figures for years and I've never heard anyone demand to be paid for it.

I also loved her I need to remember these aren't just people they are a means to provide for my family, that sums it up, stop viewing anyone else as a person and view them as a mealticket.

Jon betrayed Kate's trust by sleeping with other women. Not only does she have to handle that emotional baggage but she has to parent alone.

My hope is that by seeing her life the people will demand that their state representatives do something about our liberal adultry and divorce laws. This affects so many lives.

This works both ways....Kate betrayed Jon's trust by not sleeping with him. Kate is the one that violated the marriage, not Jon.

Z, I don't think anyone has commented about the lack of other new shows on last night. CBS and Fox were both running reruns of their normal Monday night shows. I bet that there were more viewers than they would have typically had if those other shows would not have been repeats.

I ended up in the office on the computer playing a game while my wife just had to watch Kate's drivel in the living room. I could still hear some of it from the other room, and it's funny when you haven't watched it in a few months but still read about on here, the things that you may not have realized before but are glaring at you in the face now.

Hi Z: Thank you for your incisive observations. Also, I've noticed that many who leave comments on this site are also quite astute, and often very witty.

Although I no longer watch J&K+8 (because Kate's deranged self-absorbed narcissism-masquarading-as-good-parenting makes me want to vomit), I realize that my personal boycott is not enough. Since there seems to be a solid pro-Kate lunatic audience out there, perhaps another tack is in order. Would it be possible for you to list the show's advertisers (since you are committed to watching the show anyway for sociological purposes) so that we can write to the advertisers? Personally, I would would be willing to boycott any and all J&K+8 advertisers (and to let them know why I'm boycotting them), but I'm not willing to watch the show to find out who they are.

Hi Ruth, Thanks. I think this is one of the smartest blog crews on the Web. I love this group. I love the edge, wit and wisdom folks bring. It is one of the most media savvy groups I have even had the pleasure of being part of. And all of TV is on our menu. Kate just happens to be the main course right now because her show and crazed persona offer such a sociologically rich feast. Thanks. Z

Ok, I am NOT a traitor! haha.

But, if you have a chance, check out these 2 other newspapers' accounts of That Kate Thing (as I am now calling it)

Newsday.com (Verne Grey)
NJStarLedger.com (Vicki Hyman)

I live in NJ and originate from NY, so I read these papers daily. Seems our esteemed Z has many colleagues who agree with him.

But, don't you dare post on those articles, come back here!

Hi MarieE: You are true blue. Thanks. they are chasing us, MarieE. Z

Regarding the question about a connection between NBC and TLC... I don't know exactly what the connection is, but it extends beyond "Jon & Kate + 8"

Consider...

The Duggars (18 Kids & Counting) have made all their recent new baby announcements on the Today Show.

The sex of the Duggars first grandchild was revealed on the Today Show with the cutting of a baby-colored cake baked by TLC's "Cake Boss"

Stacey London, from TLC's "What Not To Wear" is a frequent fashion expert on the Today Show.

I'm sure there are other examples - these just came quickly to mind...

Thanks JHS. it appears there is a relationship between TLC and NBC News. That is very interesting. I will keep commenters posted on what I find out. Z

One really sad thing from the show last night was Kate's answer about the future professions of her tup kids. The answers were so superficial it seemed like she just met these kids. For I think three of them I think the best she could come up with was that they like animals so something with animals. The other boy wears glasses so a professor and one smiles a lot so model. It sounded like the type of answer someone would give after meeting the kids for a few hours.

Same reaction here -- especially concerning that sweet little kid with glasses. I'll bet Kate really loves professors based on her remarks about hating homework. Wow, what a piece of work she is. Z

Ruth, Thanks for your great comments.

Advertisers: PETSMART, (how could they do that to the dogs):
Sonic (new Kate Limeade coming this fall):
CHEVY (Football & Kate not even in the same league Jim) ALAMO (Kate's pick for free limo rides when one is not available)
JCPENNEY (Justaskkate.com coming to a town near you since healthtex didnt work out)

I have a 5 page list at home Ruth. If there are anymore I will add them later.

Hi Irene, Thanks. Z

Ok marieE thanks alot for blowing my cover & even roping Z into it.

I have more to say I just have to get some work done....catch ya later. :-)

Is this for real -- or a hoax? Forgive my sketicism, but after 30 years as a reporter...and there have been a few cases lately of the press being taken in. So just asking here and being careful...Thanks. Z

After reading all these comments today I'm not surprised at anything that Kate said or did last night on the Q & A show. I'm glad I didn't watch the predictable farce. What has bothered me for a long time about the Narcissist Kate is that when her children are a little older in the near future, they are the ones who will be dealing with the reprecussions of this show. We all know kids can be cruel. Could be pimples, could be clothes....doesn't matter... we've all been there and been teased and so have many of our children. And as parents, we've all hurt for them when that happens and do our best to help them handle these problems with whatever good tools of parenting we have. What I fear for the Gosselin children is that they will have greater issues. Their peers will be armed to the teeth with actual footage of Collin in the van with an impacted bowel and Kate calling Joel clueless, Mady with her tantrums, etc... the list is long...and they will turn to their mother and question her on these things. And she will answer them by saying "I did it ALL for YOU and this is the thanks I get" and walk away blameless, leaving them to bear the psychological brunt of her selfishness. That is what is so frustrating about Kate....she refuses to see it because in that fuzzy, stupid head of hers she's above it all.

The children may be taken off the show for now, and forever I hope, but I doubt that is the last we'll hear of them. They'll be hounded and followed for years. There will always be those people who will still think it's okay to pry into their lives without an invitation. The happy Jon and Kate plus 8 show turned into a tragedy in front of our eyes.

And never when I got them, did I have any intention of giving them back ever," she says.

Oh really? On the episode "Puppies" when you got the dogs you said in the interview couch that you threatened Mady and Cara especially that the trainer would take them back if they didn't continue to help with the dogs. Then when the dog stepped in his own poop you say "He's going back and I'm not kidding."

I think Kate never had any intention of keeping these dogs - they were a storyline concocted by TLC.

Thanks, btw. Great catch. the dogs did really seem to freak her out. I don't think she ever wanted them either. Z

Kate is the hardworker in this duo--she works and Jon steals the money. She is the good parent--loves her kids more than ANYTHING. Jon told her "the kids can pay for their own "swear words" college. He is after ONE THING--the money. She Only filed for divorce because he was running off with all the money. He NEVER pays for any household bills or food. Jon is for Jon and that is all! He is a freeloader. I have all this from a very reliable source!!

Hi Muriel, No anonymous sources at this blog. If they can't be named, they can't be trusted. there is nothing so top secret that peoples' names can't be used. But beyond that point of trust, I have no argument with your description of Jon. He is reprehensible. But his worthlessness does not validate Kate's worthiness. They are both wretched characters. Thanks. Z

I’m still trying to figure out WHY Kate needs a bodyguard?

Also, I’m wondering if the real reason the kids were upset when they found out the show wouldn’t be filmed anymore was because during the filming they were around people (the crew) who grew to love and care about THEM. NOT just what they freebies they could get or where they got to go.

I refuse to watch them anymore and I do believe that this is the first week in a LONG time that neither Jon or Kate graced the covers of US Weekly, People or any other magazine in the grocery store!

Z I am laughing so hard I am crying. I must email my email address to you 50 times a day lately.

I so apologize. It was a hoax a hoax...haahahaahahaahahaha
I am Irene Nield 8......Lordie Bee

See, my sketicism paid off. ha. Z

Jon betrayed Kate's trust by sleeping with other women. Not only does she have to handle that emotional baggage but she has to parent alone.

My hope is that by seeing her life the people will demand that their state representatives do something about our liberal adultry and divorce laws. This affects so many lives.
******************
Kate betrayed Jon's trust by continually traveling with a bodyguard when the arrangement made Jon feel insecure. Two wrongs don't make a right, but Kate certainly has done nothing to avoid the appearance of wrong doing. If she had any respect for her marriage back then, she would have changed the "bodyguard" situation, or better yet stop the travel and the show and find a compromise with her husband.

Z,

Your blog is awesome--I try and read it every chance I get.

Love your insights regarding KG

the Kate plus Kate line is hilarious

Please keep blogging on this trainwreck of a show so we can continued to be informed

and keep up the great work.

Z, been waiting to read your review of last night's "show" and once again you did not let us down! I did catch a few minutes of "Kate" speaking, but just couldn't watch too much of it. Did manage to hear the part about her desire to "be in a movie." I think this woman has delusions of grandeur! Where is the talent and who, besides those fans standing in line for 8 hrs., is feeding this bunk to this woman? The 8 children have always been the attraction (side show). She just happened to give them birth and sign them up for the "realist show on reality television." Not!

Thanks, Karen. Z

Shannon-

What about K8's "oath" during her freebie Maui trip, er, I mean vow renewal ? What about her promise to her kids that "mommy and daddy will be together forever" when the marriage was already basically over?

Suzi - whadya know ? Nothing but the sound of *crickets* when the sheeple are challenged to provide ANY proof of K8 being supermommish .

Reply to Muriel (3:00)

Thank you, Muriel! Your post today shows that the Kool Aid drinkers are alive and well even though they are apparently afraid to post here anymore. Whew. I was worried what happened to you all.

Muriel, you state that Jon is a freeloader and Kate works hard. Interesting comment.

For the first season, Kate stayed home (with many helpers) to care for the kids and Jon went to work every day,.She worked Saturdays, while he was home.

. Seasons after that, they BOTH stayed home and the "show is our job and our job is the show" became their mantra. They BOTH participated equally. Actually, he participated, she screamed and directed, but I'll let that one go.

Season after that is when Kate started going out on speaking tours and shilling "her" (hey Kate, ever mention Beth?) book and her "original recipes" (proven to be stolen from the back of a cereal box).and Jon stayed home full time with the kids.

Which job do YOU think was harder? The job of managing 8 kids every day or the job of flying around the country, eating fancy meals, staying in great hotels shopping and being on tv, acting like a star?

Neither of these 2 will ever be regarded as "good" parents and I have no respect for Jon. But, in my eyes, he has been the better of the two and in saying that I also must add... and God help those children!

So, Muriel, I'm not sure if you are married or have children, but from what you are saying, I assume you feel every stay at home mom is a FREELOADER? Or is that only reserved for fathers?

Muriel, I anticipate your reply, that is, after you confer with your reliable source.

HATEKATE, give them time. Maybe they need help or something.

Kate Supporters,

Please fill in the blanks:

Kate Gosselin is a wonderful mother/supermommy because:
1._________________________
2._________________________
3._________________________

And don't say she's a supermom because she does their laundry or something like that. We all do that. TLC should knock on our doors one of these days if they want "reality". (Not that I'd open it for them.)

You're on the case, Chrysee. Thanks. Z

Your welcome, Z. Maybe we should lay down some rules like you can only use term 'magnificent uterusishness' one time.

Kate has one super mommy quality, she said last night that she can run in high heels. I am sure her kids really care.

Kate maybe could you just focus on real issues?

Radaronline is reporting ratings of 3 million. Can you confirm these numbers?

Hi nanb: I CANNOT confirm 3 million for Monday's show. I see where radaronline is reporting it. Even if true, radaronline is hyping it by saying it is a "huge" audience. That's simply false. An audience of 3 million would not even put the shop in the top 25 cable programs for the week. Bill O'Reilly, for example, averaged 3.7 million a night -- so did SpongeBob. Jeff Dunham debuted a new show on Comedy Central last week with an audience of 7.9 million. So, unless radaronline is playing ball with and getting those numbers from TLC, I don't know why they would say "huge" and say that it was "another" gain. Actually, as reported here, the numbers dropped last week from 2.5 million two weeks ago to 1.9 million. So, the suggestion of momentum is false as well. I would be kind of disappointed after all the hype with only 3 million if I was TLC -- even if that number is accurate. From a high of 10 million to 3 million is still a loss of 70 percent of the audience in four months. And I would be shocked if the show did even that 2.5 million next Monday. Anyway, when I get numbers I can confirm, I will post. But 3 million is absolutely nothing to get excited about even if radaronline is trying to hype them. Z

Monday night’s one hour long Jon and Kate Plus 8 special, where a solo Kate Gosselin sat down and answered viewers’ questions saw another ratings gain for the hit TLC show.

The episode garnered 3 million viewers, a huge number for a cable show and another weekly gain as it draws to it’s end.

Source: Radar Online

---------

Z,

Notice Radar doesn't give their source for the ratings number but I think it's safe to assume it's TLC ...

It is so ridiculous that Kate says that she needs another person in the house for the safety of the kids. I guess the woman in my neighborhood that raised nine children (some were multiples and all were very close in age) by herself every week while her husband traveled for work didn't know that it was unsafe to be at home with her children by herself. I guess my neighbor also didn't realize that you can't raise a large family on one average income and that one person can't take care of nine children plus two dogs. Odd, because my neighbor seemed to handle it just fine and her nine children all grew up to be smart and competent adults.

BRAVO Kate!!!! Your handlers advised you use the kiddies whenever a question makes you look like the egomaniac selfish idiot you are. I have always supported the imperfect Jon. Tummy tuck, bikini, heels to KID events made me sick. Now don't get me wrong, I being a mother agree with Oprah, mothers need to take care of themselves but you're a trip! The mother on Little People sounds humble. You sound like you're using the kids to stay rich and GET famous...well Julia Roberts famous of course. I feel sorry for you. God plz take care of these kids since the parents forgot how to.....

Chrysee -

Would it be too much to ask the sheeple to also provide one example per declaration ?

How did I survive it? As I survive all things Gosselin: by refusing to watch.

The woman is certifiable.

Natalie Morales loses credibility by agreeing to interview this joke. This scam artist. Artist is too kind...This KON.

I would like to say thanks to this blog. I was starting to worry that an actual Twilight Zone style brainwashing had occurred. This blog has been like finding a drop of water in a desert.

Second, I would like to say thanks to Kate. Tomorrow I am canceling my television. I realized that I have gotten more worked up in the past year about nutjobs like Speidi and the devil herself than important issues (she's complaining while there are real single parents who are working three jobs so their kids can eat and there are places where rape is legal-ok!). I am only 23 and she has given me the wonderful gift of realizing that I need to fight much harder against this crap corporate America is feeding me (so disappointed in Meredith by the way--as a Rhode Islander, I am deeply ashamed).

Hey Cory, Thanks. But do not give up on TV yet. You can use it wisely for lots of wonderful stuff. You just have to use TV rather than being used by it as many people are. You already have much of it deconstructed, so you can do it. Z

From what I understand, Kate said that she always has another adult around?

So if she's such a "supermom", why isn't the nanny who is there with the kids while both of them are away getting any credit for REALLY doing all of this by herself?

I mean, if a 22 year old nanny can handle 8 kids, with very little experience and no "medical" (ahem) background....geez, couldn't anybody if given the task?

While I certainly don't want eight children, there are plenty of teachers, nannies and child care center workers who are more than capable of handling eight kids. Especially when two of them are tweens who can basically take care of themselves in most regards and the other six are five? Sorry, but I can see how it could be loud, obnoxious and a little irritating at times, but it would not be by any stretch of the imagination "hard" at that age.

I think the real issue is two-fold: Kate is used to telling people what to do and needs that in her life.....she doesn't have a subordinate anymore without Jon and doesn't want to HAVE to do anything.

Secondly, I really don't think she likes being alone with her children. Overall, I think that her desire to hang onto this show tooth and nail is because if the cameras, and the helpers and the staff, and the crew and everyone else were to disappear, she'd actually have to be a regular mom to those kids and I don't think she has any real desire to do that.

I think she likes the "idea" of being a mom (and a famous one at that) more than the actual practice of being a child's mother. I don't think she is psychologically capable of being truly selfless, which that task requires.

"The episode garnered 3 million viewers, a huge number for a cable show and another weekly gain as it draws to IT'S end."

Hellooooo TLC/ROL:

it's = it + is/has (not the correct choice)
its = possessive of it (correct choice)

Looks like another graduate from the Baby Mamma School of Grammar and Punctuation.

Hi HATEKATE, Maybe you have already seen it. But if not, please check out my earlier response written and posted around 6 p.m. tongiht -- explaining why 3 million (unconfirmed) is not a "huge" audience as Radaronline claims. It is instead a rather small and disappointing audience after all the hype. I know that is not what you referring to in the radaronline story, but just wanted toi make sure you had this context for that report. And, yes, I am smiling at the Baby mama School remark. Thanks. Z

Great recap Z, my 2 cents, Kate said she only wanted her kids to grow up to be productive human beings. NEWSFLASH KATE! They were born being productive, where have you been the last 5+ years.

I wonder what the ratings were for last night's show. I'm assuming that TLC wants to see what sort of draw they'll get for the "Just Kate" show. I haven't watched Jon and Kate in about a month and hate to admit I sat through the long, long, long hour of Kate answering questions. There was so much to be disturbed about, but one that stood out to me was her impression of Alexis coming home, rolling her eyes and complaining about the little girl that told her that she watched her show. Kate said she just needed to say, "I don't want to talk about it". How about saying, "Thank you" or "That's nice". Does Kate realize that it's the parents of all those little children that have been watching her show and providing her with the lifestyle she craves. I also found it very telling the way she tossed the questions after she answered them. As I watch her, I just can't figure out what "Team Kate" fans see in her. I had the same feeling during the election last year listening to Sarah Palin. I'm sorry I just don't get it!

Hi Mary, Please see an earlier response I wrote to a comment around 6 p.m. tonight. Radaronline reporting 3 million for last night's audience, but that in not confirmed. Radar saying that is a "huge" audience, but the comment I wrote explains why it is rather small and probably duisappointing to TLC. To go from 10 million to 3 million ion four months is a loss of 70 percent of the audience. Thanks. Z

Hi Z.

Just found your blog last week. But I've watched J&K+8 from the very beginning. I'm a people watcher, but it became harder and harder to watch this show. It definitely wasn't entertainment. It actually saddened and sicken me. I could no longer watch without becoming depressed.

Anyhow, I did watch the Q&A last night. And one of the comments that Kate made that really made me angry had to do with her decription of little Joel. Those who watch the show know that Joel is a "daddy's boy". He even introduces himself as "Daddy's Son". Joel has been known to cry, when Jon leaves the house and doesn't take him. I thought Kate's comment about Joel: "He will probably be a model or actor, and he'll suck some girl in and then she will realize he is clueless.. wait, hasn't that been done before", was heartless. And then her snarkey laugh. What a mean thing to say about a child you love. I tear up just remembering it. That was a cruel thing to say about the father of her children and her child. So sad.

Thank you, for letting me share.

Yes, I wondered about that comment, too. It sounded strange to me. You helped explain it. Thanks. Z

When are people to to remember that Kate booted John over a year ago???????? They had barely moved into the new house!

He hardly stepped out on her.

This show is no longer watched in my house...for the sake of my kids

Wow alot of comments sorry it took me so long to write. But work pick up baby go to store.now let begain by saying my head hurts I wish I was dead its not from the Rum from last nite but from all the yak yak yak from Kate the great..Ups excuse me while I puck,But my god she is so full of herself.Anyone with hafe a brain can she its all about her her and her,all by the way did I say it was all about her.And thanks to Finallyover yes it was a very mean thing to say about her son.You thank maybe its becuse he's a daddys boy?Shame on Kate the not so great.

Finallyover and Z -

I watched every episode for the first 3 seasons even though there were many WTH K8? moments .

K8 has ALWAYS been very cruel to Joel, starting with the episode dubbed as Joelgate where K8 makes a very ill Joel lie on the laundry room floor so cleaning up his vomit is easier FOR HER.

A little harmless teasing is one thing, but she has such disdain and venom towards this child it sickens and angers me to no end.

Z-

Yes, I did indeed see your comments regarding the ratings. I only used that sentence for the purpose of snarking on the incorrect punctuation.

BTW : just recently started reading your column and it is great. Also love the comments from other posters (well, most of them anyway).

I'll be waiting for your confirmed number, Z. I don't believe anything I read from ROL. Huge ratings, they're saying. So glad you pointed out what a loss TLC has actually experienced. Even if the ratings turn out to be 3 mil, they didn't even double over last week's 1.9 mil with all the hype.

Yes, taht is the context. Three million is nothing. They were at 2.5 million the week before last. Even at 3 mill, they have lost 70 percent of the audience. I am now guessing TLC did feed the numbers to radar to get that kind of hype on them. It's a silly and losing media game to play, which also suggests TLC might be feeling the pressure. Z

Well can't sleep so I am posting one last thing. She did say the money for the kids education was safe? When she was with Jon they did have wills made that specified the kids would receive money at the time of college completion or at age 30. So would that be the source of the money she said was "safe" for the kids?

I really don't think I can think about Kate for one more second. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

*whew* It has taken me an entire day to recover from watching the Kate show last night! I kid of course, I was out all day today volunteering at my kids' school & guess what? While I wasn't wearing sweats & a ratty t-shirt, I also wasn't wearing high heels, fashion'ish tank tops and the like.

Can you guess what part of the show irritated me the most last night? Did Ms.Kate REALLY say that she wants her children to be proud of her and that is why she wears high fashion clothing? Listen, I get wanting to look good, I also get needed to wear appropriate clothing for business ventures (*snerk*), but does shopping at Target, Starbucks etc. require la-dee-da clothing so that the kids will be proud?? I often wonder if Kates fans really listen to what she said & how condescending that answer was. So those of us who can't afford high end clothing & wear items from Old Navy or Wal-Mart don't make our children proud? How does a statement like that NOT alienate those women who she is supposedly a role model for?

THIS is why (well one reason in a long list) I don't or won't relate to Kate Gosselin. Instead of being honest & saying "Hey, I can afford these nice clothes" or "I get free clothing from Ann Taylor, etc" or even "I like to look good, I want to look good for me, I like it & that's all there is to it"; she says she is fashionable because she wants her kids to be proud of her.

Knock, knock Kate! MY kids are proud of me in the morning when I get up & make them breakfast & get them safely to school even though I am wearing my pajamas. MY kids are proud of me because I volunteer my time doing various things at their school & I don't wear high fashion clothing because half the time I am getting glue on me or paint on me & my kids think that's awesome. MY kids are proud of me because whether I am wearing raggedy sweatpants that are 10 years old or a nice outfit (which for me, is from Old Navy or the GAP); I protect them, I comfort them & I am there for them even if that means putting off "me time" and I don't complain about it.

Honestly, I'll probably never like Kate, but I'd have a smidge of respect for her if she just came clean & said she wears fashionable clothing for her and that she travels around because she likes it & it makes her happy. I really, REALLY don't understand how people can relate to her...it truly boggles my mind.

At the Women's Confrence she was introducted and only answered 6 questions that about 4 mins. total. Wow

Now this is a quiz to see if you are really a Kate non-fan.
One statement she said was "I wake up every day, get out of bed and do what I do because __ ___ ____." Now lets all answer together. one, two, three
"of my kids"

Few fans who wanted her autograph. You can tell that from the video on Radar. Since other authors were signing autogaphs, she seemed to leave early. I have to go look in the mirror, I think I feel a tear forming.

Well think the night crew is done for now.,

Hi Z, you said:
"Maybe you have already seen it. And, yes, I am smiling at the Baby mama School remark." Thanks. Z

It's all in how you look at the numbers, isn't it. I also think if 3 milllion started out watching the show, only 1 million (if that) were still watching at the end. An hour of Kate? AAaaarrrrggg...

Ok Bloggers I am waking up and raring to go this morning.

I have a question. I think (that is dangerous) that I have heard realeased to the media that Jon & Kate stopped being paid by TLC. So does this mean that Kate is doing charity work for TLC?I know it may seem like a dumb question but there are new episodes. Just a question.

And, was the ask Kate filmed before camera crews took the equipment out of the Gosselin home. The setup looked the same.

One thing I didn't mention before that REALLY got my attention during the Q&A - was the question whether or not Kate had "help"...I'm not pulling out the "sisterhood" badge - but it REALLY irked me to hear her say not once - not twice - but three times "I have a GIRL....." I think that clearly shows a mindset of "superiority" over the people she employs.

Z, I felt physically ill when I learned from your blog that Natalie Morales is interviewing "Kate." I've always said that there is so much more we do not know and never will know about the Gosselins! Why is "Kate" getting all this attention? I, too, believe Natalie Morales will lose credibility over this one. Both Gosselin parents are self-absorbed, but Kate appears to be "over the top" and quite mean. Kate seems to be acting entitled and ungrateful. It's very unattractive! Jon is a more sympathetic character, but there are many issues with him as well.

everyone seems to forget the last episode of last season, jon & kate sat on the couch and was asked if there would be another season, jon stated right then that he didn't want to and if it was up to him this would be the end, but kate said that she completely disagreed, she said that this show has provided so many "oppertunities" (meaning stuff, trips, etc) to their family that she thinks they should continue, you could tell by that interview that there was great tension and that in the end she would get her way and there would be another season, no one seems to remember this though, they like to bad mouth jon and say he only wanted to cancel the show when he got bad publicity, but he was the golden boy and he still wanted to cancel the show, he saw the problems it was causing back then

Irene,

I have a lot of questions about when the filming too place too? Great question. The interviews are probably a way to keep the no filming of the kids contract. And I wonder if the November 23rd episode will have any new footage that was recently filmed after Jon asked for the cameras to stop.

Hey Z, is going to post later on the relationship between TLC and NBC. Maybe we will have some answers.

Hey Avis great job on the nightshift. I have had an "epiphany" though and for the sake of my fellow bloggers we can stop checking Radar online for updates. Our bloggers are better at snuffing out the truth than they are.

Beth we all know how you feel. We know this whole "the show must go on" is all about Kate & more Kate. I do not have a clue what it will take to put her back on earth with her kids, but I just do not believe it will be pretty when it happens.

Sherry T as my BBF (my teenagers came up with Sherry T as my "Best blogger friend" I did not even know they paid attention to me) I can't wait to find out NBC's side of the coin.

Keep it real guys because it is really craziness on tv these days.

Z-

What do you think of K8 being on Ellen today ? I missed it but from what I've read, she unloaded all the same BS we've heard a million times.

I am SO disappointed that Ellen would sell out and have this bitch on her show.

I do not know how to do it. Maybe Avis can link it. But showbiz tonight Cnn has a good video with commentary on Kate's Q & A episode. It will add to our discussion on this blog.

Also, Kate was on Ellen show today. I went to the website. Poor Kate she did not make Ellen's video of the day. Tears are probably flowing. Precious did. But, I looked High and low and cannot find Kate's interview with Ellen. Finding some of this the past couple of days is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Hey Irene - thanks. You teenagers are great! I can't wait to find out about NBC/TLC either. :)

Avis, I understand nights, I used to work them, but found out I was getting to old to do it. Good luck, I did nights for almost four years.

All BBF's on the blog, have a great evening.

Anyone heard news on CONFIRMED monday night ratings? RoL is beginning to be "quoted" with their 3M number. How any reputable (I guess that's a loose term now) media outlet could quote Radar OnLine on any fact they spew is beyond me.

"...she said at first that she got rid of the dogs for the sake of the dogs. And then, she said she got rid of the dogs for the sake of the kids." hah, z, youre funny. and kate gosselin is ridiculous. i did not see it, wish i had. to be honest, i havent read your blog in a bit until just today. but hey i was studying for those midterms, right?? :)

Ireene, are you on Face Book ? Are any of the othere like Sherry T on it?

Hi, Avis -

Yes, I am. Look up Sherry Tellitocci and you will find us. It would be great to have friends from the blog to chat with. And great for networking. :)

Z this does not relate to the post is that okay??

Welcome back Sarah. I hope you did great on your midterms. I will have 5 kids in college in 2011 could use some pointers.

Yes, DH Radaronline has been getting way to much credit but considering TLC & The Gosselins seem to be feeding the pap's (oh I stand corrected Kate would not stoop to such a level) it appears they are getting a little information. So anyway, it is just waters down reputable sites & journalists that do their job the right way~I told ya'll I had an epiphany. Can I have a movie career now?

I haven't watched and really don't want too heh. Kate on Ellen - 2 parts.

Sherry T....I too worked nights as a hospice nurse 6pm to 6am in their homes. That really aged me.....But I did it ____ ____ _____!! (for the kids)

What I want to know, when Kate gives an interview her face skin is tight but out and about in her Oliver Twist hat, under her eyes are puffy, face a bit swollen and neck area saggy. What does she do and can I have some too. I am thinking elastic attacked to her scalp pulling upward. Maybe some miracle cream?
Puffy face I would imagine is from drinking (in all those plastic and Starbuck cups) Jon said she drinks at night to reduce stress. Oh I am so glad I didn't play the drinking game on Monday.

And.. the spin continues.

Few wks ago, our Katie said she was going to "design" a ring with 8 diamonds and 1 pearl.

Today, she told Ellen that she "found" a ring with 8 diamonds and 1 pearl, since she is "into symbolism" now.

So, lady.. which statement is TRUE?

What makes me think that a jeweler heard her say she wanted to design a ring and called TLC and viola.... Kate "finds" a ring.

For those of you who "missed" Kate G's appearance on Ellen: There were a few new twists.. but nothing that would surprise this crowd.

It appeared an evolution of messaging we have heard before. Added emphasis on ___ ____, and new versions of "taking the high road."

Regarding the suspension of filming:

"For the kids and I this has been a very good experience, and it's been taken from us too soon.

(Are we seriously expected to feel badly for Kate G?)

Astonishingly enough, Kate claims she wanted to keep things a quiet as possible: (How gullible do they think we are?)

"... things that are put out in public that should not be. And you know, people will say you signed up for a reality show so you signed up for this.
But I don't agree with that.

Um, I really really, my goal would be to keep it as quite as possible, for the kids.

And When I speak, my yardstick in my kids. They can pull this up forever. I don't want them to see anything negative that came out of my mouth."

Apparently calling Jon, "Certain Ones" makes accusing him of wrong-doing okay. Oh, and don't forget to spin-in the concept that Kate cooks at home.

"Certain events take place that makes us sitting ducks that makes us easy targets. Certain ones of us speak a lot, other of us prefer to keep our mouths shut and make dinner for example.

And finally.. a longer quote about how she would never expose the children to harm. Clearly a defense against claims the children are harmed by the shooting. This was the first time I heard Kate take a serious stab at defending filming the children. (sorry, I couldn't stomach that part of the prepared comments..)

Oh, and wait.. there was a reference to being out of work. Something about.. she will get that new ring when she has a job. (aww. feel sorry for her now? Since when was that a good time to give someone air time?)

I am sure new layers will continue to be added.

I don't think it helped her credibility.

Z.. do people in the industry really think we will buy this load of hooey? (or... strangely enough.. will anyone buy this fanciful fabrication?)

Thanks to all the regulars here, you keep things real.

marieE your comments are cracking this Yankee southerner off.

Totally imaginary:
Kate sent me a message for marieE. (Don't be jealous now)
But, I see a bigger picture here. I think I look to the future more ya know um so I think um that the only thing Kate is going to be able to do if she doesnt get her um act together um soon is those cheesey infomercials that sell Topsy Turvey um and chia pets um. Since, um I take the high road. I will insist on being driven in um a limo with my um bodyguard um...did I say that um...no ohhhh I did not say that...It is all you know who really saying all this to the...the end.'

Seriously,

You know I think there is always strategy in Kate & Tlc. I think all the moves being made right now is Tlc getting Jon to give them his kids or get sued big time. We will have to see just how far TLC is going to be willing to go & willing to fight~and if Jon will succomb as discussed in depth here on the blog.

I find Kate's hypocritical comments about "not being there full-time" especially annoying. Before the split, she was out traveling for her book tours and speaking engagements more than she was home. So really, what has changed other than Jon is not there when she comes home? I do not understand why they both continue to talk to any publication or appear on any show that will listen, and then complain about how awful it is to be in the public eye. They are doing it to themselves. The perfect solution would be for the judge to issue a gag order and make them both disappear for good. While there is no perfect parent, neither of them are role models by any stretch of the imagination and both are doing more harm than good for those cute children.

Great job on this article. You basically hit the nail on the head with regard to everything that I am thinking about the whole Kate thing. This woman just floors me with regard to how she thinks of herself and how she thinks that anything she says or does can be excused by saying, oh, I did it for my kids. I think I'll start drinking on a regular basis and saying that I do it for my kids to give myself a break every once in a while. Kidding. Anyway, I think it's hilarious that she thinks that she can just do a talk show or be in a movie. A movie? Is she serious?? Has she ever seen the ball players or musicians that try to act and can't do it? This woman can't even carry out an interview without using the word, "um" several times a sentence. I've just been noticing how much she does that and it makes me wonder how well she could do a talk show without sounding like a complete babbling idiot. She said "um" 25 times in 2 minutes and 30 seconds in one part of that interview. I just can't imagine anyone wanting to see her in a movie. She might be able to do a voice in an animation but certainly not a lead role. Maybe just a few words in a small part but hell, I could do that.
I just can't understand why she thinks so much of herself. Where did it come from? Is that what happens when you're able to rip people off by charging a few hundred dollars for a speaking engagement and then have the audacity to charge for autographs after that??

Whenever I need to put my head back together after reading all the news on the Gosselin family I come to read your blog. Your bloggers are great. I heard that Jon's attorney quit. Jon should ask Kevin and Jodi to put him in touch with Gloria Allred. Hopefully she would help him to stand strong against TLC trying to put the kids back on television.
I really don't think that Kate would ever be able to do animation voice overs. My son works in the business in LA and my husband and I were able to watch some real actors do their voice overs on a cartoon. We could not believe how intense and professional these actors were. They have to be able to convey different feelings with their voices alone. They had to take directions and repeat lines with different tones. It can take hours to get the voices correct. I can't see Kate being able to do that . They also have stacks of resumes on real actors who want to do the work.
I look forward to the day that the Gosselins are no longer in the news. One good thing that came out of this mess is that I found your blog!

Hi Bonny, Thanks so much. The bloggers here keep me sane. I read the comments when my head is about to explode from the Kate-TLC lies and hype. This is a great, great group. Thanks for beingg part of it. Z

Just recently read your 10/26/09 article/blog on the Kate Gosselin show. I had to fully agree with you. After reading some of the responses also have to agree it was a pathetic display. I just thought she was a "shrew" and not narcissistic. It had become very painful to watch the show and is now very painful to watch this play out in the media.
Kate should now realize, hopefully, this is no longer the "best for her kids"

I was interested to see what Bonny said about the "real" actors doing those animations. I liked the real comment. I agree. I do the animated voices with my kids from time to time, pretending to be one of the fish in the aquarium with different voices and I was thinking, that is really hard to do and keep that same voice going and sounding the exact same each time you do it. It's not easy work and I agree that Kate couldn't do it but maybe she'll get lucky and land a small part and surprise us.

You know, I was on the news once with one of those consumer reporters, maybe that experience in front of the camera is enough for me to be in a movie!!

Bonnie & Matt you will fit right in with this group.

Matt~ counting the um's I luv it.

Bonny~ I could not agree with you more. I felt like I wasted 5 seasons of my life (you know Kate never answers she has only been on TV about 2 1/2 years always she always says 5 seasons) This blog rescued me and took me under their wing. We really aim to get it right, but we just love poking a little fun at all the absurdity.

Keep on coming guys!

I was really happy to find this blog. I've been posting on one with a bunch of Kate loving idiots that think I don't like her because of the Jon versus Kate thing. I couldn't care less about that. I think it would be better for the kids if they got back together but that has nothing to do with why I don't like her. I don't like her because of things like that crap she was saying the other day. And thanks for the comments Irene. I've been noticing how often she says "um" ever since Larry King and it's just crazy that this woman thinks she could do a talk show when she does things like that constantly. Maybe it would be different with that kind of forum where she's just reading questions to other people but I would think those hosts have to have a lot of their own thoughts and questions that they are able to articulate to guests and I'm just not sure she could do that.

This was good on Jay Leno last night: "The newest reality show where Jon Gosselin will be dating Octomom and the show will be called "The Two Biggest Losers". I liked it, I knew there was a reason to watch last night and TIna Fey was a guest.

Maybe Jon could date octomom and Kate could be a young cougar type and go out with Levi Johnston, the one that dated Sarah Palin's daughter. He might be interested in a fairly attractive older woman with a little money. I think she'll have a hard time finding a guy with all her backage and the nasty side of her personality.

I love the 'count' of the use of 'ummm', I was too lazy to do it. I love Kate stating the last day in FL that her voice is her best feature (is she deaf?). Her poor use of the English language would not be an asset to any talk show (like asking Jon in FL if she was 'uncapable' of doing something, to which the answer is yes, and she's also, more correctly, 'incapable' of doing it). Her poor performance at the CA Women's Conference should be enough to convince anyone that she is not qualified for ANY career in any form of show business (contrary to HER feeling that her five seasons on television show there should be a career of some sort out there for her). And as far as a nursing career, who would want to hire her with her people skills to work in a hospital? The Q&A debacle was just that, and the interview next week is strictly superfluous, she'll just plug all (both) of the comments from this weeks show in to whatever is asked or shown. Are we really interested in "Her Story"? I just saw someone posted a survey on 'would you watch Kate in a movie' and the result was 72% NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Like Matt's comment about the 'kate' blogs, according to them any woman who doesn't idolize kate is jealous and they can't understand the 9000 reasons why she has nothing to be jealous of.

Exactly, I was accused countless times of being jealous because Kate found a way to make money and then I was actually accused of being lazy for being a stay at home dad and what was I doing blogging instead of hanging out with my kids. Clearly these men and women that made those comments haven't stayed home with kids before full time. It is hard work. But don't get me wrong, Kate hasn't done this for years. She has a maid, a cook, caretakers for the kids. She is not a stay at home single mom. Single is true but none of the rest of it which is hard work to do when you stay at home with kids and spend time with them.

"Jon betrayed Kate's trust by sleeping with other women. Not only does she have to handle that emotional baggage but she has to parent alone.

My hope is that by seeing her life the people will demand that their state representatives do something about our liberal adultry and divorce laws. This affects so many lives" TO WHOMEVER WROTE THIS CRAP....R U KIDDING ME????
FIRST that woman does NOT parent alone, she has nannys!!! So a STAY AT HOME mom has NANNYS??? Hmmmmmm
My mom didnt need a nanny. Neither do the Duggers. Maybe Kate should learn from them of course her first lesson would be "How not to continually bash your husband and childrens father on public television" There is a class she should have taken then maybe just maybe she wouldnt be in this place. Thier old house hasn't sold so she can move back in there, go back to work, pay her attorney fees and move on like the rest of the world does. She was selfish when she had invitro and has continued that course of action. PEOPLE STOP WATCHING THESE TWO MORORNS and get a life. I live close to these two and know people whe associate with them. Trust me, Jon may not have followed the correct course but Kate is the one at fault here. She is a wanna be from a trailor park who needs a dose of reality. She is a nobody who was so selfish to have invitro and expect the world to pay for it as she exploited her children. ...

I agree completely. She is the furthest thing from a stay at home mom as you can get. I sometimes wish I had somebody to watch the girls and clean my house. On the other hand, maybe I wouldn't since I unlike some parents enjoy spending time with my girls and don't see them as just a way to milk money out of other people. You know I heard something before the Jon and Kate plus 8 thing that she was doing everything she could to get money out of the deal. She said that if that modern medical technology was the thing that allowed it to happen, that it was up to society to ensure that these kids were taken care of. I never saw it or heard it myself, I just read that she had said that and did things like turn down some donations from her dad's church because it wasn't matching so she had certain things that she asked for and turned down others. This woman just blows my mind how selfish and self-centered she is.

Did anyone watch the Kate special last night? I heard over and over, "I did it for my kids, I did it for my kids" Does she say anything besides I did it for my kids??

Matt, There is a review of it and more than 100 comments already at this site. Check it out. Thanks. Z

Look, I'm no fan of these selfish, self-absorbed boobs posing (or, more accurately, "acting") as parents, but to say Kate's pain and distress at her divorce is unreal is saying you can see inside her soul. The same for saying she doesn't really love her children. I'm sure she does. Would I do to my one child what she's done to her eight? Not in a million years, but that's neither here nor there.

I didn't watch the show, or any of the promo sneak peaks either (but it's so ubiquitous I still get the drift), because I have no desire to hear her talk/rehash the same things she's said a thousand times before. I agree completely that the dog situation, and about 100 other things this woman says that makes my head want to explode too. The bed rest again? Really? If you really cared about those fetuses well being you would have used selective reduction and given 1-3 children a FAR better chance at a positive outcome, both in and out of the womb.

I don't know Kate personally (and have no desire to), and you can never be 100 percent sure without firsthand experience, but my take is that she's not a nice person. Not even close. And her soon to be ex appears to be even worse: a deadbeat, slacker that makes "Animal House" look like a documentary on moderation. I wouldn't give you 10 cents for either of them.

The ONLY innocents here are the children. And while it's too late to turn back the clock on the Gosselin mess, we could still protect other kids by enacting, or actually just rewriting and enforcing, federal child labor laws to include ANY child featured regularly (say, more than three times per year, thus allowing for true news exceptions) on TV, no matter what the show genre, to be protected by outside entities beyond their parents.

Seriously? What are people thinking? There must be someone sane out there who sees the irony of broadcasting the Gosselin's dirty laundry peppered with commercials for "reality" shows about other families, at least some of whom will likely end up in the same sad situation as the Gosslins now find themselves.

You know, I was watching the last few episodes of Extra and a few other of those celebrity shows and they've talked about Lindsey Lohan and her problem/problems. I can't imagine that the Gosselins aren't going to have this sort of issue as well with at least a couple of these kids. And it certainly doesn't help that neither of them are very good parents because they seem to be so focused on themselves. I wish they would go on Dr. Phil or go see a counselor or do something. Perhaps what Jon is doing is good with regard to him seeing that Rabbi, unsure of the spelling on that. I just think that one of the many problems with them is the fact that they got married and had kids so early, too earl for them anyway. It's hard enough to have kids at that age anyway, let alone when you crank out 8 of them. My wife and I had to have fertility treatment after she had an ectopic on our second try and it basically wasn't even a possibility to have that many kids. I would've gone through the roof if a doctor had put us into that situation because I know my wife would've been against selective reduction. I'm not even sure I could've talked her into it. From what I understand, these doctors that allow it to happen are just being irresponsible. I'm not so sure it shouldn't be considered malpractice. But I also understand that Kate was hell bent on having a bunch of kids anyway. She had seen how some other couples got a bunch of freebies with their multiples and from what those around her say, she became obsessed with it. If this is true, she has brought this all on herself. She finally admitted that she was wrong in the way she talked to Jon which really surprised me. I doubt that they could get back together now but I really think it would be best for these kids. I think that if the money isn't used properly and they are not taken care of in the right way, a few of them will end up with a drug or alcohol problem and it wouldn't surprise me if one of them ends up filing a law suit to get some money that they were entitled to for doing this show when they had no say so. And if these parents don't grow up, then one or more of them might want an emancipation at 16 because they will certainly see all of the fighting that went down and just be really upset with their parents for putting them through it. I just can't see this ending well at all, especially if Kate continues on the self-centered track she's on. Jon seems to be the one that's coming to his senses now.

here's something for Kate's ego, if you plug 'kate' in on Yahoo, it doesn't list anything about Kate Gosselin, you'll get Hudson, Winslet, etc. To borrow a line from Full House, "HOW RUDE" of Yahoo. Now to borrow from Kate, does it bother me that she has access to their money but Jon does not? OF COURSE. Does it annoy me that she seems to feel that she is 'at home the majority of the time' and that Jon is just there when she is not? OF COURSE. Do her hand gestures (the upside down sidewise clasp she does so well) annoy the crap out of me? OF COURSE. Does her feeling of entitlement or 'owe-it-to-me-tude' make me want to remove her from public view? OF COURSE. Does the fact that the majority of pictures caught of her show her with an UGLY look on her face make me want to slap it off? OF COURSE. Does the fact that she asks herself her own questions during an answer to an interview question make me get violent feelings? OF COURSE. Does considering strong drink imbibement suddenly seem like a ridiculously necessary addition to watching Kate in a diva(ish) performance? OF COURSE. Am I absolutely, totally, completely, thoroughly sickish and tiredy of enduring any more of Kate and her poor me saga. DARN STRAIGHT!!

Barbee, we are so much in agreement. I can not stand the just flat out mean look on her face in most pictures. She just seems like a complete bitch or just in a bad mood in most pics taken of her. At first, I thought it was just me but now that so many other people are saying the same thing, it makes me trust my initial instincts on the woman. I told my wife when that show was fairly new and she was forcing me to watch it with her since we often watch TV together because we do like to spend time together. Anyway, I told my wife that she was just really mean to her husband, to the kids. I told her that she was way, way too up tight about what the kids do in terms of getting dirty or doing whatever kids normally do. Being a stay at home dad, I understood and still understand that it's a lot more work to deal with 8 kids getting themselves dirty but to call someone who was kind enough to watch your kids for free to get after them for giving one of them gum, is just totally outrageous. I couldn't believe she did that. I couldn't believe that she yelled at Jon in that toy store for not being right where she wanted him to be or when she got on him for not using a freakin coupon. It just goes on and on the number of times she was in the wrong or blew something out of proportion. I'm so sick of hearing her poor me drama and how she does everything for the kids and how she got rid of the dogs for the sake of the dogs and then for the sake of the kids basically in the same sentence. I am just tired of her. I'm tired of those ugly faces Barbee was talking about. She's just an ugly person inside and out and I'm not talking about her physical appearance. I'm just saying that when somebody always has a mean look on their face, they just come off as being an ugly person. Kate, can you please just do the world a favor and just go away. People don't care nearly as much about you as you think they do. If you dropped off the face of the earth, no one would care. But for your kids, just stop doing all of your appearances and stop trying to do more shows because no one wants to see you. I am going to be very surprised if she does something and is actually able to maintain any kind of ratings that would be worth keeping a show going. I guess we'll see.
