Online talk of Jackson death tops Obama inauguration
The Nielsen Media Company is reporting that online talk about the death Michael Jackson is more intense than it was for the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Here's a link to the actual numbers from the national audience measurement service -- including a list of the Top 10 TV shows involving Michael Jackson. It's a fascinating list topped by an ABC report from Martin Bashir and a 60 Minutes interview by the late Ed Bradley.

Is this really a suprise? MJ has (had) been around for 40 years or so and is a world-wide phenomenon; Obama, while more historically significant in the long run, just arrived on the scene and is in large part relevant to Americans and not as much to the rest of the word. Add to that the incredible, bolt-out-of-the-blue news of MJ's death, and its no wonder that his death got is getting so much attention.

With the last Presidential campaign/inaguration we really began to see the effects of tech in the hands of the masses (also recent events in Iran). Naturally, Michael Jackson's death also. Thinking back, can you imagine the death of Presley with the tech abilities of today?

No way! Is this some kind of joke?! I cannot believe that this comparison is even being attempted!!!! One is--no offense--a brilliant bubblegum Pop Star; the other a brilliant World Leader.

This may not be exactly what the topic is but last night about midnight, the E channel displayed one of the grossest misjudgements of all time. On the Chelsea Lately show, which obviously was filmed before Michael's death, aired a part of the show ridiculing Michael Jackson. I will NEVER watch this channel again and the president of the station should be fired and also offer a sincere apology to the Jackson family. How can the media miss this horrible display of television.?
