Jon & Kate make cake with Baltimore's Duff Goldman

Jon & Kate Plus 8 fans and foes in the Baltimore area are going to get a special treat next week in the June 1 episode of the hit TLC series. Chef Duff Goldman and his Charm City Cakes will be featured when the kids try to whip up a special surprise for their mom's birthday.

The surprise involves a trip to Baltimore and a visit by Kate and some of the kids to Goldman's celebrated Charm City Cakes. Goldman, of course, is himself a reality TV star with the Ace of Cakes series on the Food Network.

Here's the program description from the The Learning Channel, which introduces a new season of Jon & Kate Monday night at 9:

The kids have a special surprise in store for Kate's birthday and they're soliciting the help of professional baker Duff Goldman! They celebrate by decorating eight perfect cakes, which is one big recipe for a sugary mess. Will the always tidy Kate enjoy this tasty, messy surprise? How will Duff and his staff handle the chaos of having eight little helpers join his bakery for a few hours?

I hope the parent's can hold it together for this episode. I really enjoy the cooking shows. This should be a "fun" episode. Who doesn't enjoy cake. Maybe if Jon and Kate can handle this episode they can have their cake and eat it too!

Ho Hum!!!!!!!!

Hope they work it out! The kids are so adorable.. !

If you notice...Jon is not part of the episode.

Can some lawyer please stand up for these kids? They are WORKING ACTORS, they deserve to be protected by child labour laws.

How totally lame is this?? Why is it so hard to figure out you need to stay home and do some damage control??
Kate needs a cake from charm city likes she needs to bitch at Jon yet one more time. How lame, I've ignored their drama show, now I can't even watch the food network? This show needs to be over LAST week! Get a frigging job, like the rest of us,support your 8 ,instead of pimping them out for $25G's per episode

Hi Kate and Jon, you are both very special and very real people, you are all in my prayers that God will lead you in the way you should go. Keep your faith that is what has brought you all this far...be blessed and we all make mistakes, so none of us have room to judge. Be sure to forgive and go on..ann in canada

Gawd will this ever end, I am ready to launch a lawsuit ~

Now I hope that everyone that has watched these reality shows now sees that there is absolutely no respect for the 8 children, and that this show is no longer about the 8 children, it is about Kate and Jon. AND how Kate and Jon are making money off of the 8 children because of their own martial issues.

Jon seems to be the only one that wants out of this media, he should file divorce and take the 8 kids - period.

I was an avid watcher of Duff and his cakes but now ... sorry buddy, I am done now that this is intertwined in with Jon and Kate ...

I think this is all so very sad for all these precious kids and at this point doing it for the money is wrong

Now it just feels like Kate is acting so she can keep her show. Does this mean we don't get Jon anymore? For me it is now too painful and awkward to watch. Kate: fix your family life and then come back and show us you are fighting for your family and not the fame.

Ok - I know this may sound a little bias, but I think Kate may be using the show as a distraction from the trauma she has been through. I think it's great that they showed up on her birthday with a "surprise bus" and helped her with a cake. I don't think Jon was going to show up with a surprise anything - so she goes with what she has left: The cameras. They haven't left her or betrayed her (at least if you don't count the part where they collect every snippy thing she says all day and put it into a short sound bite) - The camera has fed her and caused her not to worry about how she is going to feed those children or get them all to the dentist. I totally get it. Also, if the "surpise bus" wants to show up on my birthday and take me somewhere I would be more than willing to load up and go. I don't think we should judge Kate until we have given birth to 6 offspring at the same time and survived it.
