Leonard Nimoy will be trekking over to Fringe on Fox

Leonard NimoyLeonard Nimoy, the legendary actor who played Star Trek's Mr. Spock, will guest-star on an upcoming episode of the J.J. Abrams' drama, Fringe, the Fox network announced today.

According to the network, "Nimoy will appear as pivotal person of interest William Bell as the series approaches its first season finale" on May 12th.

Nimoy will be revisiting his role as Spock in the Star Trek feature film that Abrams, co-creator of Fringe, is directing. That's the connection between the director and actor.

I did a long interview on-air interview with Nimoy for a radio show on WYPR that I used to host, Media Matters, and I found him to be one of the most fascinating, multitalented and wisest performers I ever met.

I have tuned out Fringe, but I will be tuning back in to see Nimoy. I think that's the kind of response Fox and Abrams are hoping for with this bit of casting.

It's Captain or Mr. Spock.. not Dr!!!!!!! Or in the case of the new movie Ambassador.... sheesh!! anyways.... May you live long and prosper!

Flog me now. Of course, you are right. I changed it. But you have learned well from Spock and are a good person for the "live long and prosper" salutation. May you also. Z

I met Mr. Nimoy and had an interesting conversation with him many years ago at Union College in Schenectady, NY. He, indeed, is a man of many interests [including poetry and photography] and has a very inquisitive mind. Moreover, he is a very well mannered gentleman.

Yes, and a musician. Thanks. Z

How can you tune out Fringe it's the best show on TV right now. So many twist and turns. I haven't see TV like this since the Mulder and Scully days.

I agree that Fringe is one of the best current shows on TV. Reminds me of Latitude Zero on the radio way back whenever.

Fringe seems to be a is good TV series. It a bit similar to Torchwood and X Files. I just hope that it will not be spoiled.

I love Leonard Nimoy from a long time ago. I was a big fan of Star Trek and he was really intriguing to me in the Spock role he played. On a separate note my husband who loves the show Fringe said that he thinks Nimoy will be a brilliant addition. He said he was in a teaser at the end of the show last season. I may just watch. We don't like any of the same shows, I like House, I like In Treatment, I loved X-Files. We live separate veiwing lives, but maybe we can both enjoy this.
