I think that there are truths in what was said by Reverend Wright. America created Osama bin Laden with it's cold war against Russia in Afghanistan. Maybe Fox can bring out McCains association with John Hagee the anti catholic preacher? How about the keating five? He walked back inside and paid for it. Why does a poor person show a higher integrity than the man who would be President? Obama would be turned down for a Top Secret security clearance if he applied for a job with the FBI or CIA on his Resko connection alone. Like many congressmen, he can only access such information because of a "Political Exception". This is the man you would have act as Commander in Chief. I don't think Obama is a terrorist, I think we just don't really know where his heart is, who he truly is, a true Christian American? or a Muslim at heart who sympathesizes with the Muslim cause deep down, who has links to Muslims outside the US who have helped his campaign with illegal contributions, and/or who paid for his very expensive education at Columbia and Harvard... there are investigations under way to discover the truth.

I don't really like Mac much either, I think he's impulsive among other things, but again, I know where he stands and who he is. I agree with O'Hara. Neocon hate MUST be countered with fact: quick, factual responses to their accusations, and lengthier facts that offensively counter by juxtaposing their candidates in the same light, placing their spin machines on the defense. It sounds like a tit-for-tat, whining approach, but thoughtful discourse is not possible when the other side is merely responding emotionally.

Contrast Letterman's time with McCain to Hannity. Every journalist should respond to both sides with the type of questioning Letterman used. It is particularly important to begin responding this way to the hate-mongers if hate's power is going to be eroded.

When Letterman pressed McCain for discussing the other terrorists that O'Bama "pals" around with, McCain brushed it off by implying it was perhaps a verbal typo because, after all, there are "millions of words" exchanged in a campaign.

Letterman didn't take McCain's weak brush-off at face value, but instead, more powerfully, brought up McCain's friendship with G. Gordon Liddy, which is a friendship, not a mere acquaintance. McCain was cornered with his own weapon.

The thoughtful among us are fearful of that the Hannitys of the world are changing the terrain of political discussion. Letterman showed us another vision.

The lesson from Letterman: to McCain and Palin's many attacks, don't defend or explain, but instead be armed with their own discrediting histories. One more Letterman reference: During the Letterman show, McCain made a joke about hearing every conversation "you" have. It was a scary comment joking with Letterman, but eluding to the power that right-wing conservatives are willing to use against YOU, everyday American citizens. Letterman missed a moment to ask about the privacy rights American citizens are or are not entitled to.

It felt like an important clue foreshadowing ominous events for future chapters of a story that is unfolding.

With the media being so heavily in the tank for Obama at this stage, is it really necessary for David Zurawic to whine so heavily about Sean Hannity's interview with McCain and Palin? Are you kidding me?

If we didn't have Sean Hannity out there getting the candidates to speak about the issues he got them to talk about, then all we would hear from is the Palin bashing left.

I quite frankly am sick of the media and the way they have portrayed the McCain campaign. I pushed the filter aside and watched the candidates directly myself. They are right and its not incindiary to tell people that Barack Obama is a socialist who has had questionable albeit not illegal relationships.

Hannity makes no bones about being a right wing conservative. It took Joe Plumber to get Obama to come out and be as honest as Hannity is about his ideology. This is America. If Hannity is proud to be a right wing conservative, then why shouldn't Barack Obama be proud to be a left wing socialist.

The sheep are being readied for the shearing and it looks like Joe Plumber was the first to go.
