Katie Couric next network anchor for Sarah Palin
CBS anchorwoman Katie Couric will interview Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on Sept. 28 and 29 to be broadcast on the CBS Evening News.
Like Palin's interviews with ABC anchorman Charles Gibson last week, the converstions will be aired on different shows and days beginning Sept. 29 on Couric's evening news program, according to the network.
During the two days that Couric spends with Palin, she will also have access to Palin's running mate, Republican presidential nominee John McCain -- something Gibson did not have.
The multiple day rollout of interviews will once again give the network great editorial control over how the interview is presented. Given how poorly the interviews with Gibson went for Palin, and the complaints from Palin supporters about Gibson's stern demeanor, you have to wonder why they think things will go any better with Couric. She is a highly skilled interviewer.
I wonder if Palin supporters will be complaining about Couric putting her chair too close to Palin as many did about Gibson. Or, would that just be a gender thing?
One also has to wonder if NBC is NOT getting an interview because of the left-wing ideological blather of Keith Olbermann on sister channel MSNBC.

Comments
"Left-wing ideological blather"? Yikes! Olbermann is certainly on the left, and passionate about it, but would you use the same negative language about, for example, Bill Kristol? Or Tucker Carlson?
By the way, any pre-debate interview or network presence coming up for Joe Biden? I hope so.
Hi, thanks for the yikes -- my favorite exclamation as you might have noticed from some of the comments. Oops, just occurred maybe you are mocking me. That's OK. To answer your Q: Yes, I would use Tucker Carlson and have. Bill Kristol is a little more subtle. He's not the blathering type, but he is no less an ideologue. Thanks.

I am glad Couric is doing the interview with Sarah, I think she will be more professional than the booring Gibson, he should quit the job and allow someone with more life and energy.. I think it will be a great interview to watch. by the way MSNBC shame on you with your talk heads being radical liberals promoting Obama and attacking Sarah, you are helping McCain to be elected.

She won't change any of Ms. Palin's answers like she did for Sen. McCain during that interview will she?

Are you an msnbc wanna be. She will be on Fox Wednesday the the 17th.

I think Governor Palin did great with Charlie Gibson - it's the anchor who looked like an ass. But, the masses expect the media to be biased. We see right through the B.S. Just give us more Palin and we will all be happy. The Republicans have MY VOTE!!!!
Go Red!

Well, I think all we can hope for is some journalistic honesty. Let's hope Katie doesn't pull a Charlie and edit Palin's answers to paint her in a poor light. All you had to do was read the complete transcripts and compare the responses on tv to see what I mean.
Or look at Gibson's previous interviews with the Dem candidates and see the feel good softball question presented. What about Katie? What are her previous interviews like with the Dem side?

I think all most supporters of Gov Palin expect is to for Ms.Couric to treat her with the same respect and ask similar types of questions that CBS asked of Obama.

Al least Katie isn't likely to be a one-sided sexist morally devoid liberal jerk that turns up her nose at palin like she some nothern redneck piece of trash. Good for the McCain camp not to let the left-wing trash at NBC (NBC is now an acronym for NAZIs for Baracks Cause) conduct any interview. I think the McCain camp should refuse to allow any of their reporters to participate in any GOP event. There was a time in American history when the media was fair and respectful, a champion of the people. Now its just another perverted political body seeking to impress its opinion and influence on the American People.

UH...Her next interview is tonight and tomorrow night on Hanitty and Colmes on Fox.
By the way the only people who think Palin did poorly in the GIbson interview are left wing newspaper people like yourself. Gibson came across as the pompous and arrogannt left winger he is.

David Zurawik
You are a sexist. I bet you never complained when the Obama campaign and screaming Dean was calling the Rev. Wright coverage "racebaiting." You are a donkey of a hypocrit.
At least, Hillary and Sarah really were victims of sexism. Obama feigned victimhood to get out of hot water over his minister hating America.
David just tell us, you are voting for Obama just like the rest of the Sun staff. So obvious dude!!!

I hope Ms. Couric's interview of Palin will be as incisive as that of Mr. Gibson's. We need to know who Sarah Palin really is, where she stands on national and global issues and how much she knows these issues. Ms Couric shuld not be worried about republicans pouncing on her for asking tough questions. That is what good journalists do.

The fact that the republicans would choose Palin as a running mate just underscores how much of a joke this whole Democratic/Republican charade really is. Seriously, the republican planners must be laughing hysterically and giving each other five as to how easy it was to sway so many people with a simple decision. "Hmm, let's just get an attractive looking woman." Then they keep saying to obama "oh, he's regretting not choosing Hillary now." How petty is this??? LOOK AT THE REAL ISSUES: the "Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative" Download and read the patriot act, it will blow your mind. Read about the Federal reserve control over the US. Check out info on the Bilderberg group and see who is REALLY in power behind the scenes. We aren't free anymore. Time is running out. Step away from your brainwashing tv and see what is really going on. 9/11 was another inside job just like pearl harbor. It doesn't make any sense otherwise. Do your OWN research into these subjects, and not just blindly take CNN's of Fox's word. Just look at the way protesters were handled at the RNC and DNC and you can see how close we are to a Chinese-style police state

You McCain supporters crack me up.
Since when is it inappropriate to ask a POLITICIAN their views on policy? That is all that was done.
She flubbed it up, pure and simple. She is human and she is vying for shotgun of the world's most powerful nation, we SHOULD be hard on her. The same way we should be hard on Obama and Biden and McCain.
Virtually everyone has gotten a free pass because the media has simply lost its backbone. It is afraid of being called "too liberal" or "too conservative." "sexist," "age-ist" or "racist".
The media needs to grow a pair and ask the tough questions of ALL the candidates.
Are you SERIOUS, did someone call NBC Nazis? NAZIS?!
You sir are what is wrong with political discourse in this country. William F Buckley would have cut you to ribbons for being such a tool. And he would have done it with a wry smile and facts.
McCain's camp feels she needs to be protected from the media; that is all well and good, but will she need to be protected from other leaders of the world as well?
If we are worried how she will stand up to Katie Couric - then what happens when she is dealing with Iran and Afghanistan?
James, thanks. I was also surprised by the suuporters of Gov. Palin who said Gibson was "mean" and a "sexist" because he put his chair too close to hers. Where do you think Putin's going to put his chair if the two of them ever sit down? And aren't these the same supporters who describe her as this brave moose hunter? Which is it? Z

Before someone tries to brand me as some Obama-maniac, I'm not.
My voting record is short, due to age, but I have voted for members of both parties and count myself as someone who still could be swayed either way.
Which way I am leaning now is of little consequence to my point.
I was disturbed by Palin's inability to say something that wasn't party talking points when asked to form her own opinion.
Has the media given Obama a free pass, yes it certainly has. Obama needs to be put through the ringer too, as does EVERY candidate.
But no one really cares about issues anymore. We care about how close Charlie Gibson was sitting.
i mean why care about issues when you get such wonderful political thought from a man calling himself "Ballz Mahoney?
But it is encouraging that thoughtful voters like you are engaged in the public discussion and really do elevate the conversation. I am serious. If you read back to my first post last week, you will see that was one of the primary goals of this blog. So, thanks for helping make that possible. Z

at first I was a little nervous having leftie-couric do an interview but Sarah's been amazing through out this campaign and why should this be any different. Can't wait for the debates though! She's will slam Biden to the ground with grace and style! Katie C., Hillary C., Michelle O. . . you should all sign up for a class. . . Sarah's teaching the country what we republican women have known all along: there's nothing tougher than girl power the REPUBLICAN WAY! We're not angry, we're not out to cut off every man's genitals . . .we're happy and that just makes democratic liberal feminists angrier than anything else. . . and we're laughing with each new poll that shows we're taking over. Bring it on Katie . . . bring it on!

Remember, the media must treat Ms. Palin with respect and deference (aka kit gloves). I have to tell you, I was embarrassed for Palin during the Gibson interview. She seemed stiff and uncomfortable and her responses were so elementary. No wonder her supporters were upset. I don't want to sound like an "elitist" but the only people that could've been satisfied with her lack of knowledge and her mediocre performance are the ones that know even less than her.

I am an independent. After watching these biased TV anchors in CNN and NBC, my vote goes to Mccain and Palin. Media wants Obama to win. Looks like Obama will say anything to win the election. I am with Repbulicans this year.

Sarah Palin is a disgrace to America.. "The Exploitation Sarah Palin" She is not ready, and anyone that says she is, is just plain old stupid.. She was aked for specifics, and she said she will get some and bring them back to Katie Couric.. Wow!

the interview was a blotch against couric , i bet she was hot under the collar when that was over. palin is a joke, a joke not worth telling. please, sarah, go back to alaska and just fire some more policemen, or just have your husband fire some of his workers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! doomed

Instead of being so critical of Sarah Palin, why am I not hearing more about Biden not knowing who was president during the depression. He said when that happened,
Roosevelt got right on the TV and spoke. Hey, Joe, Roosevelt was not president at that time and there were no TV's for him to get on. Get with the time!! Is this the man you want as VP?
