Hannity all smiles and servility in Palin interview

Talk show host Sean Hannity and Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin came together for what Fox News Channel promoted as an exclusive interview.

But, in truth, what viewers saw was a carefully staged display of partisan political theater -- from the executive-office backdrop to the non-stop stream of smiley-faced softball questions Hannity served up with great servility.

In TV terms, the imagery was impressive, with an American flag over her left shoulder, a richly appointed china cabinet off to the side and thick carpeting throughout.  Every table had flowers in a fine vase. It was all supposed to remind viewers of the White House while sending the message: Look how comfortable and natural she looks here.

Typical of their staged conversation was the following exchange:

Hannity: “Senator Obama yesterday was attacking Senator McCain for saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong. Do you believe the fundamentals of the economy are strong?”

Palin: “It was an unfair attack on the verbiage… because he (McCain) means our work force, of course, and that is what’s strong… So, that was an unfair attack.”

Note that she didn’t answer the question. Instead, she used it as an opening to attack Obama. And Hannity let her go run with that – rather than asking the question again or pointing out that she didn’t answer it.

Even on the friendly confines of the Fox News Channel with Hannity serving up heaping helpings of home cooking, she couldn’t get it right. Her handlers might want to re-think letting her face as skilled an interviewer and journalist as Katie Couric on CBS.

Here’s another exchange representative of her empty rhetoric:

Hannity: “Who’s responsible for these failing institutions on Wall Street?”

Palin: “Corruption on Wall Street that’s what’s to blame …There’s a toxic waste on Wall Street affecting Main Street, and we gotta cure it.”

Hannity did get Palin’s reaction to Tina Fey’s widely acclaimed parody of her last week on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, but even that had the feel of damage control talking points rather than any kind of genuine response.

Palin: “I thought it was hilarious…spot on.”

Instead of informed answers, it looks like Palin’s handlers have been concentrating on her hair in recent days. I think they saw how strange and bunned-up and it looks when they saw it parodied by Fey and now they are trying to soften the look.

Too little, too late.

Katie Couric a skilled interviewer and jounalist? You must be kidding!

use nuttin but uh dirty librul so sho list takkin sarah pay lynn lak dis. jus uhnother god less librul so sho list what wants to cut n run from eye rack and make obama presdent who ain't got sperence. i pray fo use. :)

Yeah the liberal media never goes easy on Osama Obama. Doesn't matter either way. Country is in a freefall and nobody will save it.

I can tell the interview was not very satisfying to those journalists, like yourself, who are Obama supporters.

We know how Alaska is a hot bed of terrorists. Now Republicans are dispatching a former top U.S. terrorist prosecutor from New York, Ed O'Callaghan, to assist Palin's personal lawyer working to derail or delay a pending ethics investigation in Alaska. The probe, known as "Troopergate," is examining whether the governor abused her power by trying to remove her former brother-in-law as a state trooper. We cannot allow terorists to harass this incredible patriot! Anyone who makes her answer difficult questions is Anti-American, Anti-mom, Anti-beautiful babies, Anti-God! We must punish these criminal meanies!

Hannity interviewing Palin? What a joke! She could've sat there and done an SNL routine and Hannity would've fawned all over her. What gets me about this woman and most Republicans for that matter, is that they can never, ever answer a question with a direct response. The verbal diarrhea that starts coming out is nothing more than canned responses fed to them by the, apparently, the same person. Directness and spontaneity is definitely not the Pity Party's strong suit.

It's obvious you'll be backing the best teleprompter reader in the history of the world for the White House? There is NO teleprompter in the Oval Office! You need more experience than 100 days as a Junior Senator to run the Country! I'll at least cancel out your vote by voting McCain!

Regardless of our ideology, anyone with a brain knows what a cynical choice this was for Vice President, and the susbsequent sheilding of Palin from any serious questioning is rather scary.

She is clearly not Vice Presidential material by any stretch of the imagination, and it is stunning to see Krauthammer and other seemingly intelligent conservatives toeing the party line.

The Hannity interview was a well staged farce. They are appealing to the very stupid amongst us and/or the racists ("Osama Obama". Do you really think that the man is equal to a terrorist mass murderer? Seriously? If you believe that, does that mean you will assassinate him when he takes over our country?)

Fox news is the biggest joke for a news show I have ever seen.

You are kidding me Mr. Zurawik, too soft what about all the liberal media handling of Obama. How about the interview with Brian Williams, they were actually giggling like school children. Just because Governor Palin connects with the middle class, the media is furious and will destroy her anyway they can since they have "chosen" their President already, the elitist Mr. Barack

The previous comments have NOTHING to do with the fact that she DID NOT answer the questions and she just really sounded like she has no idea what she is talking about...you all just did the same thing she did....birds of a feather flock together!

Again proving this candidate is an empty vessel. The attempts at filling it are simply frightening.

Sarah Palin is an unknowledagable, inexperienced right wing extremist. Only the completely conservative and biased FOX news can make her look like she has half a brain!

The Republicans don't care whether McCain's V.P. has any experience or substance. They only care that Republicans are in the White House. If McCain had picked Paris Hilton as V.P. the Republicans would find reasons as to why she would be a good Vice President.

The Republicans are making what could be a great country into a backwards, war mongering and most hated country in the world. They need to be out of power now.

Yeah! How do you like it!? Now the shoe is on the other foot and you can't handle it. You in the media created Sarah Palin, with the constant criticism you gave her publicity. That girl appeals to people no matter what negative light you put her in. I am LMA OFF because everything you throw at her is making her more popular. Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!

Obama is getting crazy because he is not a center of universal any more. Palin is not only smart, but she also pretty, and people love to watch her. Obama has never ever imagined where is on the earth this woman can defeat him. lol...

By the way, she did answer the question. Under the same guidelines as McCain's original comment, that the fundamentals are the people. She said YES!! She believes in Americans to not give up. There may be a free fall, but we all must do what we can to save it. That is where the fundamental strength is found!!

Yes, OUR country is in a freefall, and our brain dead Republican President is staying the course of DOING NOTHING....he is just not smart enough and neither is McCain or Palin. I hope I wake up from this nightmare soon....on November 5th. Please people stop behaving like lemmings and letting McCain and Pailin lead you to the cliff...or when you get there, just jump! Then we can get on with things that really matter....like our "fundamentally sound" economy.

Anybody who can say with a straight face that O'Reilly handled Obama easier than Gibson handled Palin is either deluded, stupid or employed by the McCain Campaign. The only good thing about the Hannity interview for Palin was that he didn't ask her who the Prime Minister of Spain was...

A good observation on the very right wing friendly Fox news channel. It's so ironic that the conservatives always seem to complain about the so called "liberal" media but look at what we have locally with the very conservative and one-sided talk radio station in town. It will be interesting to see how the Katie Couric interview plays out. It's funny how they are playing down the half truths being touted by McCain and Palin on their public appearances and ads.

What a sexist fool. What in the heck does her hair style have to do with her success or opinions. Are you jelous because you seem to lack a full head of hair. Your remark was not only sexist, but as childish as one can get. Grow up and use some Rogaine.

Uh, did I touch a sore spot with the comment about your balding head?

Sen Obama receives 2 years of softballs and you're complaining about an interview with Sean Hannity?

"Carefully staged political display"??????
Where have you been throughout this political (or any other) political season? Did you count the flags behind OHB? Do you ever watch interviews of democrats on MSNBC or is that bunch too conservative for you?

Hannity was practically drooling all over her throughout the interview. It was disgusting.

This is the reason I don't read newsprint anymore, too much liberal bias.

All you liberal media types are scared sheetless that your messiah isn't cutting the mustard.

Great job Sean - it was a great interview. Palin represent everything decent and good about America and Obama represents everything despotic, self-serving and evil.

Great job Sean - it was a great interview. Palin represent everything decent and good about America and Obama represents everything despotic, self-serving and evil.

maybe she should have gone on The View. I'm sure that would make you happy.

maybe she should have gone on The View. I'm sure that would make you happy.

Hannity actually looked bored to me as one predictable answer followed another. Lack of follow up was only as stunning as his lack of curiousity. I thought he'd at least want to look somewhat respectable by asking about some of the lies that have been dogging her.

The interview was good for regular people like me.

For the left media, it was to soft.

This just proves there is no connection between the left media and the reality.

Why must someone be an "Obama supporter" if they point out the facts of the non-responsiveness of Palin's statements? This is a typical logical fallacy of an ad hominem (attacking the person) device. McCain was clearly saying the fundamentals OF THE ECONOMY are still strong; he has been saying that since the spring of 2007. The "American workers" reference does not pass the laugh test! If he is so pro-worker, why does he support union-busting, oppose raises to the minimum wage, and opposed the new GI Bill? McCain has opposed the last 10 bills in the senate which sought to increase veterans' benefits. (Gee, maybe veterans aren't part of the workers, I mean "fundamentals of the economy).

How does pointing out that Palin did not answer the question mean someone is an Obama supporter? Even if the writer here is, that does not change the TRUTH of the fact that she did not answer the question asked. Whomever this writer happens to support does not change the REAL FACT that Palin dodged the question!

Also, exactly what is the "corruption on Wall Street?" Is it Jack Abramoff and his friends, some of whom Palin hired to lobby for Alaska in Washington D.C.? Does that mean that there are greedy people on Wall Street who need to be regulated? Don't we have criminal laws which deter "bad" behavior? McCain (and we can only guess Palin) strongly favors DE-REGULATION of all financial, health and welfare markets; McCain has for 26 years. Now that the ultimate fruits of this policy begun by Ronald Reagan have rotted on the tree, we see the results of avarice without any police force to curb the stealing.

But then again, what do I know; I must be an Obama supporter; therefore, nothing written here could be true, I guess.

Obviously, you are an Obama supporter. It's comical how biased you are. Who cares about her hair?

I have read the Sun everyday for the past 38 years and today I realized how out of synch I am with your views and the views of the Sun. Because Hannity (who I can't stand) didn't conduct a gotcha interview you disparage Palin! What about the million softballs you and your friends have tossed Obama? You and the Sun have lost touch with reality.

LOL. Anything the Republicans do is bad anything the Democrats do is good. Did you see the Obama Olbermann interview???? That was so pathetic, I thought Olbermann was going to swoon and faint. Obama carefully placed with his campaign posters visable as he answered the softball questions...That was pathetic and you have the audacity to question this interview. The LIberal Media Sucks and so do you.

Blatant liberalism on the part of another Sun blogger. And you wonder why there are layoffs and business is down?? While Hannity is admittedly conservative, you and other desperate liberals will do anything to demoralize Sarah Palin, who whether you like her or not, is an inspirational figure to younger generations of voters.

Once again your love for all things DEM/Obama comes through.

Just because Hannity actually gave her time to answer a question and did not interupt her or try to catch her in trap questions does not mean it was a softball interview. Maybe if he was wearing his reading glasses and looking down at her you would have been more satisfied.

She needs to go back to Alaska so they can impeach her for corruption.

If Palin had anything of substance to say, maybe people would take her seriously.

What would you expect from Faux news. Sean Hannity has his head shoved so far up Palins but I am surprised he was able to even ask her questions.

Yeah, that damn liberal media was able to relay exactly what she said on the MOST favorable interview she'll ever get.

I'm suprised they didn't mention the laughable 'I thought Tina Fey was hilarious, but I didn't hear anything because the sound was off' comment. She's backtracking because her original comment came before the McCain camp was 'outraged' at the sexism showed by the skit. (Sexist somehow, when painting one woman as strong and another as completely vapid and empty... maybe sexist is just a code word for anti-Palin?)

The media's been through and through on Obama... the press has been riddled with "is he experienced enought?" articles from the beginning.

Sorry GOP, get ready for the free-fall of your flash in the pan candidate. Too bad you couldn't have just announced her two days before the election.

Softball, it's the official sport of the media, they've been plying it for years.

The difference between Sean Hannity and the bulk of the liberal media, is that doesn't lie to you and try to pretend he's neutral.

David, you're an idiot and what's wrong the media. Liberal BS. I'll make sure I miss your column from here on out.

Actually it would not matter what type of interview she gave or who conducted the interview, you would still find something wrong with it.

Why don't you just admit in PRINT that your are a Obama supporter and stop writing mindless drivel.

I certainly don't agree with this article. I thought Harriet Miers did a great job. She's perfect for the job.

Really.

The only thing that was good about that interview was that it is being completely ignored for the softball batting session it was, just like Olbermann's Obama interview did not make news.

The only thing Z has to be ashamed of is actually commenting on this at all. Let it die. She couldn't even hit softballs.

Semper Fi

With excellent, journalists such as Mr. Zurawik it is amazing that the circulation of the Sun should be plummeting. Or is it?

Does anyone with half a brain understand what an answer to a question really is?

You cannot just string a bunch of buzzwords like Reformist and maverick and energy and everything is great and feels good and is exciting together after every question and think it makes sense.

There is a lack of substance in these answers if you would just put a little effort in paining attention. When someone really understands something and a question being asked you can tell - the answers make sense. She just strings along a bunch of words together that mean nothing together with a smile and the american public is sold on this.

Boy what a shame.

Please pay attention to what she is saying and how it is said. She doesnt understand anything. She is way in over her head.

Yeah- her answers were terrible.

Definitely not up to the Messiah's caliber of "that's above my pay grade".

Why does she deserve a harsh or 'gotcha' sort of interview? Is she friends with an unrepentant terrorist (William Ayers), a racist and loony spiritual mentor (Jeremiah Wright) or a convicted crook (Antoin "Tony" Rezko)? Is she interfering with troop movements abroad for personal political gain? Is she promoting the worst sort of racial animosity through adds that take voice quotes utterly out of context to claim that those quotes were about illegal Mexican immigrants? Is she calling men pigs? Is she pretending to be upset when asked about the pig quote and is she concocting absurd explanations to that quote, like the 'pig actually refers to my opponent's economic policy'? Who really deserves a tough interview here?

Your analysis explains why people like me only pick the Sun only for the coupons. The other day the Sun had an article about that investigation in Alaska of Palin's "abuse of power". There was ZERO mention in the article that her brother-in-law, who she was complaining about because he was still working and carrying a gun, had admited that he taised his son. You know, that's such an unimportant point that the Sun left it out: A cop who alledgedly threatened Alaska's first-family keeps carrying a gun after admiting he tasered a child. Your newspaper has ZERO credibility as a journalistic source. ZERO.

Great, another supercilious commentator suffering from P.D.S.

It's about time somebody talked to her in a way we could meet her versus the Gibson interview where he comes out slugging just to knock her off her pins and then, with the help of the Creative Editing Dept. at ABC, manages to make her sound completely different than what she actually said. Is Gibson trying to get a spot with the big boys or is he just afraid of women?

Has there ever been a presidential or vice presidential candidate that has had fewer people actually vote for them for some thing than Mrs. Palin?

Its obvious she was chosen out of political expediency and general appeal as a person, not because she is the best person for the job.

I have nothing against her personally, but her selection is just the most recent and most severe case of decision making based on political expediency rather than merit that is rampant these days. No wondor so many of our historically great institutions are in shambles these days.

Obama may not be much better, but at least he is where he is by beating out competitors in high profile elections.

McCain has many good qualifications whether or not you agree with his politics, but his willingness to select somebody to this role based on political expediency is a big minus for him in my book.

why do republicans claim they know whats best for the country....after 8 years of running it into the ground

6 of which they controlled the white house and congress

and the Supreme Court since the majority was picked by either a bush or regan

"Regular people"

"Liberal media"

"elite"

Repubs never get tired of the same jokes.

It doesn't matter who you support, the interview was nothing more than a love fest. Every question was an underhand softball toss, and even then she didn't answer questions directly. I've seen him literally rip Obama, not even allowing time to answer the questions. There was so much smooching going on with Palin. The only thing he didn't do was stick his tongue in her mouth.

Does anyone read there own comments? It is this narrowmindedness that is empowering these inferior politicians. This Palin bashing is only turning off potential Obama voters. If you support Obama than do him a favor and quit the negative articles and comments and focus on HIS strengths. I'm not a McCain supporter nor will I vote for him, but this slantedness on this site and other site (digg, et.al) or turning my stomach. Post NEWS not gossip!

I was so embarrassed for Sean Hannity. He looked like a love sick puppy. I mean for God's Sake it was soooooo transparent and one-sided. She actually ignored is adoration which was a good thing. His eyes we're like in awe! Give me a break! She's not being vetted.

it is disturbing to know with certainty after reading many of these comments that our country is truly doomed. she "connects" with the middle class? i'm middle class, and i'm not bible-thumping white trash like she is. how does she "connect" with me? regardless, mccain WILL be our next president because this country - which ironically prides itself on its level of cultural understanding and empathy - will simply NOT vote for a black man. i was disgusted when the idiotic american majority elected and then RE-elected bush, and i will be embarrassed when that majority again votes to put an admitted war-monger and economic nitwit into the white house (with a fool like palin as his VP) simply because he is a white man. we're all in trouble. and no, you narrow-minded conservatives, i'm NOT a black man...

I think it was a unproductive interview. I heard nothing new. But I think she referred to ruffling some feathers about four times. What I did hear in the Iowa speech though, She stated Palin/ McCain instead of McCain/ Palin in one of her statements. Did anyone else notice that?

Palin seems like someone who has gotten where they are by their looks more than their brains. I guess this is what we get in our elected officials in the TV age. Bush talks like he hasn't read a book in his life. Not sure Lincoln would have had a chance today. What's next, Paris Hilton for VP? To be fair, Obama isn't very qualified to be President either but at least he seems to have a brain.

Hannity's Inteview with Palin:

Is this an interview or an attack on Obama? It was more and attack against Obama than trying to find out more about Palin. It is really disgraceful and not worthy of real journalism. It was obvious that she was given the questions before the interview and all the questions warranted propaganda answers which have been prompted by the campaign. She said nothing new and only revealed her limited knowledge of the issues, since she only parroted the ideology of the campaign. That was a softball interview and Hannity should be discredited as a legitimate journalist. Also, his hatred for Obama in blinding him to everything else. We, the American people, deserve to learn more about her and we have a very limited time for that, but his PR interview does little to show his love for the country and the American public by giving such a hideous interview.

Even conservative journalists are skeptical of her qualifications, but not Hannity, he had this smitten smile on his face that makes you question his objectivity.

"Servile"? I think what you meant to say was "CIVIL" -- something that Gibson and the left-wing media seem incapable of. They (and you) just can't seem to wipe your Ivy League sneers off of your face as you look down your nose at "this silly beauty queen from fly-over territory".

Shame on you for the way you have treated her. But then, snobbery knows no shame, does it?

And michelle obama on the View was a political up your butt lovefest with the girls. Gee I guess when the obamas are softly interviewed it is Ok but when the interview a republican it is political...

Er can you say the beating up Hillary got on the debates about the economy, health insurance, the war, and obama was politely asked what kind of costume he would choose for Halloween. Explain that one.

Why bother commenting on something from which you cannot extract your personal bias? Looking for an opportunity to get in a dig on Palin? This article seems like a waste of time.

Adam from Annapolis, how can you say that "Osama Obama" was racist??? That is quoting the "ultra Demoncat" Ted "Drunk Murder" Kennedy. Or have you not heard that played on the Commie News Network? None of the above should be the vote on November 5th. If you think that Obama is going to make any change in Washington, then you are the "stupid among us"! Only way to get this country in a different direction is to vote in a different direction. Vote for a third party! Facts are that both parties are bought and paid for by lobbyists! If you want to know the FACTS, visit this website:
http://www.opensecrets.org/ This is a NON PARTISAN view of why nothing gets done in DC.

Ha! This is great! We're all talking about someone OTHER than Obama! For the past 6 months... Obama this... Obama that...Obama's god... bal..bal..bla!!! BYE Obama! ...you'll be a footnote in history! ...and move to France why don't you! HA!

That interview was similar to the 100 that the media has done with Obama. The one time that Obama was not given a softball interview his supporters got so upset. How dare you ask Obama about his ties to Bill Ayers. The interview with Gibson that Palin did was more of an interrogation rather than interview. Palin got to talk about issues her views just like Obama has done with all his softball interviews. So please shut the frak up about Palin not getting drilled by Hannity.

I watched 15 minutes of this and just turned the channel. I'm sure anyone can give a great interview if it's scripted or they were given the questions ahead of time.

Is the realization that Sean Hannity is a conservative cheerleader worth a blog post? Holy crap. Next you'll be telling me he wants McCain to be President.

And let no comment about Palin go without a mention about her hair or her glasses, or her manner of speaking.

You mean I can pay Goucher 40K/year for this incredible insight?! Sign me up.

I watched the interview and both Palin and Hannity did AWESOME! Hannity is so much better than Gibson. Gibson looked like a disgruntled, annoyed, impatient lawyer grilling someone he saw as guilty in a murder trial. Hannity was just plain NORMAL. He acted like a professional, normal human being, and he still asked tough questions.

Until Gibson gives Obama the exact same interview he gave Palin (same questions, same look of disapproval, same glasses tilt), it only shows how biased he and the liberal media are. They treat Obama with kid gloves and ask his questions about his mom, his dad, his childhood, his wife, his kids.

Palin can hold her own! She has proved it. Obama has yet to prove anything.

Oh, and her answers were intelligent and well-said. I'm voting McCain/Palin!

Wouldn't it be nice to see an interviewer insist that Obama actually answer a question that he is asked? It's curious Mr. Zurawik that Obama getting those breaks doesn't seem to bother you. Can anybody at all out there tell me what good Obama can do for our nation? Has he come up with any reasonable plans other than raising our taxes for pipe dreams? I keep hearing him say he stands for change - but will it be a positive change?? Hitler brought change. We should not be voting simply for change - it can mean too many things. Mr. Z - apply your same standards to all interviews please - it would make your column more worth reading.

What I don't understand is why are most of you disparaging and trashing the so called "liberal media", yet you all seem to patronize it???!

If you are so turned off by it, why watch it? why read it? why spend your hard earned money subscribing to it?

In this modern day, you have a multitude of options in getting your information and news from outlets more in line w/your views?

To continually visit and blog on sites and watch shows and their journalists/hosts that, obviously, aggravate you seems not only futile, but perplexing.

Sarah Palin is needed to reclarify McCain's comments (clearly out of touch with the real people) and bad mouth Obama. She has very little substance and cannot even string words into a coherent sentence. Sounds familiar?? Eight years of Bush deja vu?? McCain was a reasonable guy till he got the nomination. He seems to be so desperate to get tothe White House that he will say and do anything. He has changed his position many times just this week. Even his advisors and he don't seem to talk about what their latest comment will be. If the American people want more of this go ahead and vote for McCain and Palin. I think whenever a weakness is pointed out they cry foul. Either the POW line or "sexism". Why can't they stand up and tell us what they will do? I have not heard any specifics of how they will change/reform Washington when McCain has been supporting the failed policies for the last 8 years?? Sean Hannity is a mouthpiece for the republicans and has no capacity to be critical or ask any difficult questions.
Being patriotic is being willing to call a fool a fool and getting our country back. Just saying Country first but getting your ambitions and needs first is hypocritical.

I love it when Republicans refer to Obama an elitist. I guess that's just another word for someone with a brain, something America could really use right now. Eight years of the "village idiot" has taken its toll on this country. Four years of McBush would be the nail in the coffin.

This particular interview made me want to throw up!

Republicans claiming McCain/Palin is change, change from what? 8 years of Republicans LOL. Man YOU Neocons look like clown shoes.

Did the person who wrote this even watch the interview? And the snippets of quotes were totaly unbiased. NOT. She did answer those questions, she did expound upon them but all you included was . . . It was what she said in those . . .'s that was important. Oh well, everyone in the meida is biased one way or another. No wonder their ratings are dropping

David Zurawick a left-wing hack for the Democratic party!! Why does he go after Hannity when he should be going after the left-wing moonbat- media types who are in love with him,
namely Brian Williams, Katie Arsenic,
and Charlie Gibson? Fair and balanced? For left-wing un-Americans like Zurawick, unfortunately, they have fallen in love much like those in Guyana fell in love with another great orator of the late 1970's!

ok first of all this writer has withheld what she FULLY said on more then one occasion. she in fact DID answer that question regarding the fundamentals of the economy being strong, you just chose to only quote the first part of her reply to this. She went on to say "certainly, the economy is a mess and there have been abuses on Wall Street and that adversely affects Main Street and its that commitment that John McCain is articulating today, getting in there and reforming the way Wall Street has been allowed to work, stopping the abuses and that violation of the public trust that too many CEO's and top management of these companies, that abuse there has got to stop and we have to cure this through reform..." and she goes on to explain her view on this in detail. Regardless of whether you like her response or not doesn't mean she didn't answer this question, if you are going to quote her at least quote her in full, not just picking and choosing what you think we need to hear and manipulating things that were said just so the people will elect who you want in office. Every question in this interview was answered in depth and she gave very detailed answers to every question that was asked. But Democrats will continue to demean and edit out every single explanation that she gives and only quote parts of statements she has made to make her appear ignorant and incapable of fulfilling the tasks at hand. Just as ABC edited out key parts of her interview with Charlie Gibson, look it up - there is a transcript of the actual interview that took place and highlights key parts where she explained in detail things that proved her capability as vice president, but because the media will do whatever it takes to convince the American people she is unfit for this role, they have stooped as low as to edit out things that, if the American people heard, would actually show them she is more then capable of assisting John McCain to lead this country and to bring the reform thats needed to put this country back on track. So If you want to quote her, quote her in full, don't pick and choose what you want us to know and leave out things that the American people have the right to hear her say.

what a joke.

MORE LIES.

you see he is so critical on the palin interview is because he is a liberal, low ranked journalist who only wished he had a job on a big news corporation. You know that republican journalist are going to go easy on republicans and democrat journalist are going to go easy on democrats

If I were writing the script here, yes Katie Couric is in fact a serious piece of work, like her or not, she very well may be the interview where Palin takes a dive. If you take 80% of the questions asked and simply were to ask for specifics or follow ups ("cure" wall street?), the talking points fall away and Palin is stumped. What scares me most is such confidence combined with such ignorance, Palin may be a great Gov of Alaska, but she's as prepared to be VP as she is to do brain surgery, and quite frankly not that smart to begin with. Obama has been prepping since getting his undergrad at Columbia in International Relations, backpacking in Africa and Pakistan, getting his hands dirty with the poor in Chicago, getting law degree and teaching Con law for x years, two terms in the State senate...and he's scary brilliant....and Dem's VP pick? No moderate will argue Biden is not fully capable of taking over in a crises. So look at the sort of questions levelled at the other candidates in interviews...somebody take it to Palin the same and she takes a dive.

Elites are educated to govern. While common public education is often designed to educate the general population to produce knowledgeable and skilled citizens, the elite approach to education is often presented at a more intellectual and demanding level, and is geared to produce leaders of a sort. It can be idealized as an education geared to producing an individual capable of thinking at an intellectual level more advanced than the general population, consisting of diverse philosophical ideals and theories in order to enable the elite to logically evaluate situations.

If I was one of those Christians who believe that God is guiding the country, I'd say we are being punished by God and he is guiding us straight to hell.

How to the plot of a Disney movie become reality? If America doesn't reject this farce we deserve what will come.

Thomas Jefferson is credited with saying “The government you elect is government you deserve.”

Hannity had the chance to get to know Palin more and let the people see something. She doesn't talk to reporters without a script or the people. OK, she fumbled a few questions yesterday (a couple). And, he asks her stuff like, "Is Obama politicizing the economic crisis??" Ummm.. I didn't expect much from Hannity, but I was even surprised about this. I agree that Olbermann was soft on Obama as well. BUT did you see the O'Rielly interview with Obama? He barely let him finish his points. If Bill-O did that to Palin, everyone would freak out! Can you imagine him yelling (as she's answering... "Oh come on!") Haha. That'd be great. Anyway, those are a few of my thoughts. I'm an Obama supporter. BUT, I really do want to see her answer REAL questions. I didn't think ABC's interview was really that bad. If she's going to RUN THE FREAKIN' country, possibly in 40+ days, we should be DEMANDING that she answers tough questions. None of this crap about putting them on the spot. People, this is our country and our future. Screw caring about her feelings and if it's fair or not. That goes for anyone. They haven't allowed her out in the public, and I totally think that's an outrage. Phew. I'm done. Good night y'all.

Hi Matt, Great rant. (kidding) The last part about the fact that two of the four candidates will soon be running the country, so let's try like heck to find out all we can about them now is right on. This is what we as journalists should be doing. And I say too bad to anyone who thinks we are putting our interview chairs too close to the candidate or not being deferential enough. After November, it is too late. And in democracy, a rude press serves the public far better than a timid one that comes before authority on bended knee. Whew. Now I'm done. Z

I thought Palin and Hannity did a good job. She's probably not used to giving interviews like this. Biden, although long-winded, is not a master of syntax either in some of his interview answers that I've read.

As for Hannity, he doesn't attempt to hide his bias beneath a thinly veiled pretense of journalistic objectivity. Why should he? People can tune into every other news channel for this.

Katie Couric is utterly ignorant. Palin is probably MORE ignorant, sure, but don't shoot your credibility with praise for a buffoon like Couric.

Hannity gets a boner anytime he interviews a woman Republican. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter. It is nausating. He is such a putz an looks like Lou Costello. Please..

Wow, any criticism of Palin is turned into a rant about liberal media bias and then an irrelevant slam at Obama. Yet, you don't seem to have a problem with Hannity interviewing her and not challenging her on anything substantive. I guess bias is only wrong if it goes against Palin or McCain.
(I love her making a dig at Biden's age when she is running with a man who is 7 years older than Biden. Will anyone call Palin, ageist?) Who cares if she knows anything about anything, I can relate to her.
Are you serious? People, we are at war in two countries and our economy is failing and you are putting your trust in a woman who has trouble telling the truth about simple things. A woman who goes out on the stump and repeats lie after lie after lie, even though they have already been debunked. I am no longer surprised that Bush won twice and look how that turned out.

I wonder what today's post will be about? Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin or Sarah Palin? What a waste. You should rename the blog I Hate TV (And You Will Too Soon) Or just I Hate My Job. It's just amazing how you can suck the life out of something. Boring.

I find it amusing that someone with so little experience is being taken so seriously by so many.

I run a company, I've been a secretary, I have two Bachelor degrees and am working on my Masters. I have two kids, and I am involved (heavily) with a non-profit. I know more about foreign policy, speak eloquently (trilingual), and have been told more than once, I'm a looker oh yeah.. AND my glasses are hottt!

She says that Biden has been around since she was "like 2" not only does this age him... it ages - JOHN McCain. So God forbid if something happens to him, we have a "hot VP" with little knowledge/experience to take his place.

Her answers were scripted, anyone who can read body language could tell she was uncomfortable, she kept looking off to the side of him for "approval" of her answers.

We are supposed to be looking for two people to help the country, that can work with other countries, that can help get us out of what we're in. All this for Mrs. Palin because we don't know who she is. Let me repeat, we DON'T know who SHE is. How many Alaskans rallied AGAINST her? About 1400. That says something. Think people. This goes deeper than glasses, hair, and hockey mom status, further than the semi-nude and nude pics found online.

Make an ethical decision. It's four years in the White House, a long time to either get things on the right track, or keep them moving down.

Hi Lisa, Thanks. That is exactly the point: so little is known about Sarah Palin. And that is the exact job of the press: to remedy that and make her known before voters go to the polls. Maybe all that becomes known will only enhance her standing. Either way, we need the facts of her life. Thanks. Z

What a shock...a member of the extreme left-wing liberal rag, otherwise known as The Baltimore Sun, didn't care for the interview. Wow, what a huge shock, I need to go lie down.......

critique of this critique:

:)) , :))

"...because he (McCain) means our work force, of course, and that is what’s strong..."

And you say she didn't answer the question?

What basic language courses are you missing?

But what does she think about the ecomony? That was the question that was asked -- not whether she thinks Barack Obama unfairly attacked John McCain. I do not want to assume she blindly thinks whatever John McCain thinks -- especially when his thinking appears to have changed so dramatically on the economy in recent days. I give her the benefit of the doubt -- that she has thoughts, too. Thanks. Z

I was reading the No Time To Think blog and they have an interesting point about the Hannity interview’s "exclusivity."

Palin/Hannity 2012.

Anyone expecting anything other than some friendly softball interview from FAUXNEWS needs to get their head examined. Sarah makes me want to have a sex change.

Hannity is a joke as an interviewer. Real journalists must be ashamed he pretends to be one of them. The job is to extract the truth - not to participate in a PR stunt.

Palin has never held a press conference.

McCain has not held a press conference in 36 days.

Why won't these two answer questions? What are they afraid of?

"Corruption on Wall street..."You would expect a potential VP candidate to give a more intelligent and insightful answer to the Wall street question.
These days it appears style triumphs over substance.

At least try to show some (even a minute) amount of impartiality when writing these articles --- you point out the obvious i.e. Fox News and the staged setting e.t.c, some of her responses being vague in your view and yet you blatantly fail to capture the fact that she actually did provide pretty articulate and effective answers to many of the questions, which in many respects were standard questions most would want to know. You cannot be taken too seriously in your craft if you attempt to portray such a 1-sided image to your readers -- you just become yet another statistic in the flow of bias media.

"McCain has not held a press conference in 36 days. Why won't these two answer questions? What are they afraid of?"

Hmmmm. Could it be the decidely left-wing bias and ridicule of the mainstream American press, which gladly softballs Obama when they aren't falling on their knees to worship him, but screech at the top of their lungs when someone like Hannity dares to do the same with the dreaded Republicans?

I don't blame McCain one bit. He isn't just fighting the Democrats, he's fighting Hollywood and all the Ivy League media elites who delight in twisting his words and/or ripping them out of context to enhance their smear.

Hannity was far more enjoyable to watch than Gibson who looked like he had a carrot up his butt. Come on! Have you ever seen Obama once have an interview similar to the one Gibson gave?! NO!! Hannity's questions were hardly hardballs. Here's some true "softballs": "What does your wife think? How about your daughter? Your mom? Tell us about your dad? You're sexy... giggle, giggle (Barbara Walters on the View)-- those are the kinds of interview questions and comments that Barrack gets.

And who is running for President? Obama! The man who has yet to answer any question on "Buss doctrine" or half the thigs Sarah was grilled on.

I have started watching Fox news since Palin's nomination because I am one of many who is completely disgusted by the media's manipulative and deceitful "reporting" in which interviews are edited to make Palin looik bad (ABC- Gibson interview), important details are left out and then when someone like Biden who says it's "patriotic" for the wealthy to pay taxes, it's hardly reported at all on the liberal news.

I am now a Fox News fan and a big Hannity fan. He has a GREAT personality and was a NORMAL human being who was able to show respect to the person who he was interviewing (unlike Gibson).

Hi, thanks for the comments. Before the Gibson interview aired, I wrote about how ABC had the ability to edit -- and surely would. Please take a look, it is on this blog in the September archive. I think Fox is a hugely important player in this election. But I offer the same warning to readers that I offer when talking about MSNBC or someone like Moyers on PBS: The information you are getting on Fox is being filtered (and sanitized) through an ideological prism. If you agree with that point of view, it feels good to hear it echoed back off the TV screen. But I think we need to get as much information as we can -- even that with which we disagree. Thanks.z

Liberals wouldn't know a clear thought if it hit them over the head. They are so low on the human scale that they cannot bear to see a truly whole human being who has class and intellect. Sarah is a threat to them as they pale in comparison. They try to kill the messenger because they can't deal with the message.

What a pity I must say! An embarrassing moment for American political fairness. FOX Network, whose credibility as a news network was questionable to begin with, has shamed itself. Mr. Hannity should be dismissed immediately, no doubt he is a charlatan who lacks self respect.

Hi, thanks. I must tell you that the ratings were very good for Hannity's Palin interview. I think about 4 million, which for a cable news channel is huge. Mr. Hannity will be praised for that above all else. And I do not look down my nose on it. Gathering a big audience for your work matters. If you can't do it, you are out of business. And he and Fox are very much in business, because they do a good job of gathering an audience. Thanks. Z

Palin lies needing a pointed look:

Charlie Gibson/ABC interview with Sarah Palin:
When asked about being approached for the VP slot, Palin stated
"I said yes right away Charlie!. I didn't blink once, I said, well Senator, if you think I can help well..... yes!"

Wednesday's interview with Sean Hannity:
Palin stated
"Well Sean, I didn't say 'Yes' right away. I had to think about it. I went to my family and put it to a family vote. My son didn't vote because he's going of to do his own thing but the girls said, "Yes Mom that's cool".

She lied - whether it was to Gibson or Hannity is immaterial.

Hello Pepperzmom: Good catch. I missed that. Good catch. Very interesting. And that does seem kind of basic in terms of memory. Wow. Did any press commentators get that? I do not think so. Thanks. Z

I think the difference is I can see the bias in Olberman and appreciate it but also appreciate that O'Reilly will give Obama a grilling. What the Palin defenders don't get is that she has nor received a grilling from anyone, and I mean anyone. She has been surrounded by sycophants and propped up with speeches that have been handed to her.

By your logic you would rather have a surgeon who's a "regular guy" rather than an actual doctor. Damn, I bet the founding Fathers were like, damn, I wish we could find some regular guy to run the Continental Army. Somebody with no experince in soldiering so they could bring a fresh perspective. Know anybody like that Thomas?

Why are people afraid of electing people who are gasp.....smarter than them. Don't any of you people read history? you can look it up on Wikipedia.

Hmmm...regular guys and gals? Maybe we could find a dry drunk idiot from Texas who has some free time and could run the country? Ooops already had one of those!! Maybe a gal from Alaska who took ten years to get a Bachekors degree in Broadcast Jornalism? Wait, alreday have that. Combine her with once decent politician and viola we have a winner.

Hi David, Some great points, and I am still laughing. It's funnier than anything I wrote this week. Thanks. Z

Could not stomach watching live, but reading some of the transcript and wondering did it appear that Palin was speaking in tongue?

Zurawik declines comment except to say she did appear to be having some problems even in this safe and cozy interview. Thanks. Z

Not only has it been proven that Palin has flat out lied to the American people, but distorted facts to make her look good to the people. The Bridge to Nowhere, her version is that she said "thanks but no thanks", but didn't mention the fact that she was all for it until Congress threatened to pull the $200+ million and also that it became a National embarrasment. Also she kept that money for other pet projects. Aerial Hunting, which is a savage act, Palin spent over &400,000 of taxpayers money to promote this heinous act. Then tried to get passed that she could offer hunters $150 per wolf killed as long as they brought a fore limb as proof. Next Rape victims having to pay $1200 for the rape kit used to prosecute the rapist. "Troopergate" investigation that Palin said "Bring it on" " I have nothing to hide" and then refusing to cooperate. Also her top aides and husband refusing to participate till after the election. Why should they postpone this investigation till after the election if she has nothing to hide? Why all of a sudden is everyone claming up on this issue? Did she fire him for her ex-brother-in-law not being fired or the fact that Moonegan tried to go to Washington to get funding to pay for the rape kits and that isn't what she wanted, because she didn't want to step on a Senator's toes, who by the way was linked to corruption later. Also the fact that when asked questions she dances around the answer and can't or won't answer the questions. Listen to when Sean Hannity asks her about the bailing out of corporations by the federal government, I am not even sure what she was answering on that one, ok well I didn't even understand what she was talking about. Also during rally a woman asked her about specific foreign policy experience and her answer was "McCain and I are ready to serve, we are ready." Was pretty much all she said. Not sure what question she heard. Ok also the Governor's jet that she claimed she put on ebay, what she didn't mention is the fact the plane did not sale and she had to pay someone to sell it at a significant loss. Then there is the issue of "asking" what the librarian would do if she asked her to take books off the shelf because she felt they were inappropriate. First off why would anyone even ask that question? Second the librarian was quoted in a report right after saying that she did ask several times, did threaten to fire her if she didn't do as she asked and that Palin scared the beegeebies out of her. I think it is sad when the American people are so desperate to believe and want someone who is not Washington, that they don't see that Palin isn't Washington, she is much much worse!!!

Hi Kim,

Thanks so much. Staying within my role as media critic, I am still wondering about TV and other media being so eager to show Palin in all those hunting poses with a shotgun or rifle. It plays into this phony "frontierswoman" image her handlers are trying to craft. But staying within my role as a human being, whenever I see a politician posing with a gun used to kill animals, it makes me ill as well. But then if elected Palin would be succeeding another great warrior and hunter as vice president. The one who shot the guy next to him while hunting birds in Texas. I am not talking about ability to govern, please understand--just the phony hunter image they try to sell. And thanks. Z

As a citizen of Alaska, what angers me is not that Governor Palin reported the abuse the state trooper committed and asked to have him removed, or that she replaced the commissioner (who was an at-will employee and could be terminated for any reason,) but that this trooper still has his job. Why does a man who is sworn to uphold the law and protect citizens but drove his police car drunk, tasered his son, ignored hunting regulations, and repeatedly threatened someone's life still carrying a gun and a badge?? That's what our legislature should be investigating.

WOW BET JOE WISHES HE COULD GET THIS MUCH FEEDBACK

Hello Job, I bet you are right. Thanks. Z

Wow what a joke that Hannity is. After that very sad excuse for an interview his journalist card should be forcibly seized and replaced mascot suit. Bill O referred to the Hannity show as a clown act and he was right. Sarah Palin is beyond an empty suit she is showing up as a political version of Paris Hilton, style with no substance but Paris will never end up as leader of the free world. The most remarkable thing I have seen though is the seemingly intelligent conservative talking heads doing their best to make a case for this woman and maintain a straight face. Boy if we could hear behind closed doors. The GOP had better not let her come anywhere near another serious interview if they want to keep this charade going.

Hi Mike, Thanks. The only part of this I can speak to involves conservative media critics whom I have asked to repond to what I see as a big problem involving Palin. I have written on this blog and elsewhere that I believe that TV shows and films with unwed pregnant teen girls as leading characters are sending potentially dangerous messages, like, if you want to be the center of attention, get pregnant. So, I have my fellow critics who agree agree with me about that, how do they feel about the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates saying at the GOP convention how "proud" they were of Sarah Palin's unwed teenage daughter. Were they not sending the same message on an even bigger media stage with 10 channels and cable networks carrying it and 40 million people watrching. None of my colleagues are willing to even start to try and explain why it is OK to celebrate the duaghter's out of wedlock pregnancy with the dangerous btrend of TV shows and films celebrating girls who get pregnant. Thanks.

"how do they feel about the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates saying at the GOP convention how proud they were of Sarah Palin's unwed teenage daughter"

Try to at least get it right, dufus. They aren't proud of her getting pregnant, they're proud of her choosing to keep the child instead of dismembering it and flushing it down the toilet.

You're confused by your own spin.

You think 13 year olds are making the distinction? Proud parents are proud parents to them. The tabloid cover shots of Senator McCain welcoming the father of the child to the convention were really something -- the big handshake of welcome. All kids see is the pictures, and then they make their own sense out of them. Z

Obama Can Do NO Wrong!

Republicans Can Do No Right!

They are all politicians #@*#

Get your head out of your butt and look up some facts on their voting records...

Don't use Obama comercials for your imformation.

If You Do this YOU can actualy make a informed Choice...

Might be a BIG If...

Not A Liberal Choice.

It's Worth a Shot..

Hannity's interview was GREAT! It was nice to see a NORMAL interviewere doing a normal interview... not acting like some disgruntled headmaster grilling a naughty student (Gibson). ABC edited so much of their interview in order to bascially deceive and manipulate their viewers, but the saddest thing of all is that so many viewers were indeed manipulated and they don't realize it.

Fox News did a great job. There was no editing done in which her answers seemed choppy, Hannity asked great questions, and Sarah gave great answers. Hannity actually smiled which was really nice.

Heck, the women on the View said Obama is "sexy" and gushed over him and his interview with Gibson was all about mom, dad, wife, kids... NOTHING remotely close to the type of interview Palin had.

So, YES, there is OBVIOUSLY a HUGE double standards. Obama, who by the way is running for PRESIDENT, has interviews in which they focus on his family life, and when it does come to politics, he hems and haws and then says things like, "Um... uh... ah... that's above my pay grade." Meanwhile, Palin faced an angry, bent-on-destroying-her Gibson, glaring down through tilted glasses with a scowl on his face, asking about "Bush agenda" (which it's already been discussed that there are several answers to that and this was a "gotcha" question).

She's doing a GREAT job. I think the thing that actually angers liberal Dems and the media the most... is that she doesn't give a hoot what they thinik of her. She doesn't crumble or cry because they don't like her. She doesn't change to make them like her. I love that about her and the Democrats are seething because they can't control, intimidate, or destroy her.

Since Palin was nominated, I now watch Fox News!

I knew media was liberal... that is obvious, but I have never seen such unashamed hatred from them towards a person. Palin stole their star (Obama), and Democrats (which most of the media/Hollywood are liberal Democrats) literally hate her with a foaming-at-the-mouth passion! And they certainly aren't afraid to talk about their hatred all over the internet.

Personally, I thought it was a great interview and I'm bummed that Hannity is married! He's the type of guy I'd love to someday marry- smart, nice, good-looking. I have never watched him before until this interview. I watched it beause I love Sarah... and I am a woman but not a mom and not into hocky- but I still love her!!

She is so confident, composed, intelligent, hard-working, capable, and together. She is who she is and she is a very genuine peson who truly cares about the people of this nation. Unlike Obama, who mostly cares about his own self.

She is my hero!!! And Hannity kicked Gibsons' butt and then some!

Where are Sarah Palin's tax returns? Oh that's right the dog ate them.

First of all, anyone expecting a hard hitting interview with Sean Hannity and any Republican candidate is looking for a fight. To be honest, he actually asked more substantive questions than I expected, it certainly wasn't the patty cake session between Obama and Olbermann after the Messiah got his feelings hurt by mean ol' O'Reilly's flimsy interview.

Palin showed some brass, I would argue recklessness, agreeing to the Gibson interview first, and her inexperience on the national scene showed. On the other hand, past interviews and especially debates revealed she has much more substance than she is credited with, this just was too abrupt a transition from state affairs to the global eye, and the media effort to destroy her has pretty much polarized the nation so a fair assessment is all but impossible. Is she ready to be president on a moment's notice? Most likely not, unless there is some hidden talent. A lot of Alaskans say she is incredibly ambition driven, and just may have a case of black widow syndrome and reeling her opposiiton in. She very well could be setting the standard so low she will annihilate Biden, who seems pretty open to being abused by Jedi mind tricks. And then again she could kill McCain's campaign, though that's unlikely for someone who has destroyed many veteran statesmen in her rise from councilwoman to the national stage.

The Hannity interview was basically the equivalent of most of Obama's softball media lovefest chats, and some strategists probably know it is best for her glow not to outshine McCain since he is on the top of the ticket. He's got to be the place the buckstops, not his running mate. This whole thing is choreographed, and don't fool yourself that the Obama-Biden ticket also doesn't debate on just how many dumb remarks Joe gets away with so long as everyone is looking at Obama...

Hi, thanks for the savvy analysis of he TV interviews and the handlers' goals. I think you are especially on target in questioning (from a handlers' or supporters' point of view) the wisdom of talking to Charles Gibson first on ABC. I beliee the thinking was: No to NBC, we must punish them for MSNBC, and no to CBS, because we can't play the gender meanie card if Couric is questioning Palin. The gender stuff isn't playing at all. You pose with a shotgun, don't whine about a male interviewer being too aggressive. But they should have had her do a few patsies first like Hannity -- the way major college football powers in Division I fatten up with smaller weaker schools willing to get their brains beat out for a paycheck. Thanks. Z

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide the largest morgage bank in the world,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms. Also, Fanny and Freddy Mae which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash and we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before.

McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.

Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He either didn't care or didn't realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime.
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a tanking economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?

The chairman of McCains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues they vote on a personality composite. Which means he is trying to sell you personality instead of results.

He believes people will vote against their own interests.

Let's teach him we are smarter than that .

Hold them accountable NOW! while it will still help.

Elect Obama Biden 2008

We have seen one disaster after another created by Bush. The biggest disasters are yet to come. I have no doubt that if the Republicans win, Palin will have take over as the president.

Let's just be honest here. We are dealing with politicians. Don't try to make them appear to be what they are not. Sarah Palin, by all appearances, is a hardworking woman who seems to have accomplished a fair amount in local and state government. Heck, she's the GOVERNOR, with a current 80% approval rating. She isn't a saviour , but you can't tell me that people in Alaska are that out of touch that they only elected her because she's "cute". Tell me about the hard questions that Obama answered in HIS "scripted and artfully staged" interviews. Every time I see him speak, I'm reminded of the old Wendy's ads :"WHERES THE BEEF??" He's an expert at talking for ages without saying anything of substance. I know the Palin pick was "political" (She's a pro-lifer, woman, hockey mom), but Obama was nominated by his party for fairly transparent political reasons also, and the Clintons had to quickly change their tune when they were forced to support this ticket after Hilary was coldly shut out. I'm not going to elaborate on the reasons for Obama's quick ascension, but suffice it to say, they've got it covered, win or lose. Win: America makes the world happy, and Michelle can be proud of her country TWICE in her lifetime. Lose: It's more of the same outdated, unfair politics, and get ready for R**E riots in the streets (the democrats have already hinted that that reaction would be okay if he lost. Either way, the fact that Obama spent most of his time in office writing his TWO memoirs, and that he truly isn't ready to run the country, is being lost in the constant barrage of airhead media reports by poorly disguised party hacks. Give it up, already!! Let the people decide, and save your opinions about whether the average american can be trusted to vote correctly. I only wish the next Republican win isn't followed by four years of baseless, vindictive attacks through the media and the courts. It's taxpayer money that will be wasted. Just like the millions of dollars thrown to the wind trying to convince everyone that left is right...See? it just doesn't work!!

Do any of you really think the players in this game give a damn about you and your opinions? LOL.... all fools, all of you. Please... as if your opinions matter. Such a farce.

I am extremely embarrassed by watching these interview. Palin's ignorance is obvious. She is completely a JOKE. FOX news only is lossing their credibility. Sean - you are boring reporter, journalist, BS. No matter how you stage and cover for Palin, she is too much a moron. Good-bye, FOX news.

The mainstream press and news have lost their integrity. They continue to abuse their coverage and interviews with their liberal patrician view, instead of REPORTING the news. The liberal press/news definitely has an agenda to elect the candidate of the their choice, instead of presenting fair and balanced interviews, so the American people can make up their own minds about who the people of the United States want to represent them as President of the United States. You are doing a great disservice to this great country!

I will NOW watch FOX news from here on out. The liberal press/news has blown it with me. I cannot trust them to tell the truth or be impartial or objective. I want NEWS, NOT their opinions. Goodbye ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC,& PBS. We should all change the channel.

I will vote for the integrity, experience, wisdom, dedication, character, and the servant heart of John McCain (he has longevity in his blood line look at his mother), over the youth and the LACK of experience, LACK of judgment, and LACK of character of Obama, any day! I think that Republican DR. Martin Luther King Jr's Dream would be realized if Obama would NOT be elected on the 'Content of his character.'

The fundamentals of the economy ARE strong, it's the "I deserve it, I want it now" attitude that has gotten this country in this mess and congress willing to give loans to anyone who has a pulse, even illegals! Until people give up everything except the bare necessities; food, water, transportation, and fuel, the economy is not bad. People still have to have their cell phones, cable or satellite TV, $10-20 carwashes, party on the weekend; ballgames, movies, bars, NFL, NBA, baseball, hockey, NASCAR, etc.. The economy is NOT bad.

Gas prices - Until the ‘Gasoline Price Correction’ we had it pretty good for a long, long, time. When you compare what percentage the cost of a gallon of gas is to the average yearly income today, in 2008 to percentage the cost of a gallon of gas is to the average yearly income was 1969 or 1973. We had it pretty good for a long, long time! Today, we have cars that get much better fuel economy and are 95% cleaner than in the 1960's. What are we complaining about?

There are some regional problems, but hey there are jobs all over the country! We have a shortage of engineers in Kansas. If you get laid off, go back to school and retrain. I had to do that. You should be doing that anyway. Why do people think the government should bail them out? Why are people afraid to work? Save your money, pay cash only, pinch pennies, “eat rice and beans and beans and rice...” to quote DaveRamsey.com.

Let’s quit whining and expecting the government to solve our problems and get to work. It doesn’t matter what you do; Always do it as unto God and He will meet your need.

I watched Sean Hannity interview Sarah Palin. I believe I have proof that this was a scripted and staged interview.
During the interview, at about 2 minutes and 43 seconds into the interview, Fox displayed a BREAKING NEWS banner. Below is read PALIN: GOVT CAN PLAY A VERY APPROPRIATE ROLE IN OVERSIGHT
This banner was displayed 5 seconds BEFORE she began her statement and 9 seconds BEFORE she completed that statement.
Is Fox News psychic, or was this a staged event.

Thanks

Hi Victor, Fascinating. I will look into a bit when I can. Thanks. Z

Despite what Palin declared at Fox that there was no list of banned books, that she opposed the bridge to nowhere from the outset, that she never pushed creationism on any school, etc., the liberal media keep repeating these accusations.

Palin will come out the new gold nugget of the Yukon and America will be the richer for it;.

Who of her critics have negotiated a billion dollar pipeline to make America energy independent?

Why was Couric so uninterested of energy independence?

Sorry, I forgot to add a link to the video that shows the psychic event at 2:43.

Well Mr. Z. it seems like so many other liberals you can't understand the plain speech of ordinary individuals. One who does could easily percieve that Palin clearly agreed with McCain's definition of the fundementals. That is the way heartland America or common city folks can even tell that the Governor was answering the question in the affirmative. How could you possibly not pick up that she was agreeing with McCain ? Palin would never deny the American work force. You see that's code for main street. One really has to want to have an answer and not just to be critical . Listen with your ears not your tongue. I've heard that's what snakes do. Softballs!? This women faced two nationally known so-called elite journalists who refused to let her be who she is in their interviews. Hannity got to the real person and that's what really givesyou such a hard time. The other two were trying to wax elephants for the left. We all know that the jaded left cannot stomach a truly decent person entering their turf. But it is not their turf . So learn to listen Mr. Z.

Amazing how much negative response this post got. Did you folks see the interview? I'm not comparing it to the Obama Olberman interview, but simply on its merits as a useful piece of journalism, this was a complete sham. The first question I saw was, "Do you think Sen Obama is fit to be President?" Wow!! He's asking all the tough questions Americans want answers to. What I love about Fox news is that they are supremely biased to the right, deny any such bias, and then spend half their air time attacking other news organizations for their liberal bias. It's a hypocrisy trifecta! Fox News is nothing more than populist tabloidy filth.

Hannity yet again takes a move from Joseph Goebbels' playbook..“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." -J. Goebbels
