Ju'Not Joyner claims 'American Idol' is rigged

Marylander Ju'Not Joyner, who was in the Top 20 on the most recent season of American Idol, allged in a live chat today that the show is totally fixed and rigged. He goes on to say that he was targeted because he questioned legal documents before signing them.

Here's a key (and amusingly framed) quote from a blog entry about the chat:

"It's a fixed thing if I ever saw one," he boldly declared--much to the shock of many naive chatters, who responded with capslocked interjections and frowny-faced emoticons.

He also said:

"They pay for our lawyers to negotiate against their lawyer (which is BS)," he said. "They make us COLLECTIVELY choose the lawyer, then they act like it's in our best interest. Craziest stuff I've ever seen. I have a son to feed. I HAD to ask questions and know what I was signing. Plus I write my own songs and I needed to know details...Some folks were like, 'Just shut up and sign on the dotted line.' I know better than that...I wasn't complaining...I was asking basic legal questions. There's a huge difference between the two."

Read more here. What do you think about the controversy? Sour grapes? Legit? Some combination thereof?

NO U

Indeed the show has been fixed for a long time. They know who they want before the public even sees the show. Many past contestants (like myself) are reluctant to give out any information about the show in fear of the 5 million dollar penalty listed in the huge contract. That's a heavy price to pay even if you don't have that kind of money. They basically own you but that's the price you pay for a shot at superstardom. It would eventually get out anyway. Unfortunately America doesn't care and the show will continue as long as people watch it.

I also was a top 20 contestant on American Idol a couple seasons back.

I heard about this and almost jumped outta my skin!

American Idol being rigged is true,

One of the contestants were talking to the judges a lot about deals and stuff when i was still around, and then they ended up winning

We need to stop this

Any show which says that the lines will be open for "at least" so many hours is fixed unless they say that they have not checked the numbers before they cut off the voting. If they don't say that, then they can wait until the numbers are as they want them, then stop the votes. "So You Think You Can Dance" does this too.

SKK: Will do, though for the record, I didn't say they did.

I admire him for coming out and saying this. I knew that from the start..that American Idol smelled fishy. So Adam lambert should have been the winner!
