Ex-'Idol' contestant Alexis Cohen found dead

Sad news from American Idol.

Alexis Cohen, 25, who appeared in the audition rounds in two seasons of Idol, was struck by a car and killed, the Associated Press reports.

Her first appearance on Idol aired on Jan. 15, 2008, and in it the judges said they thought she would be a great cover band lead singer but did not opt to send her to the Hollywood rounds. In the hallway, she launched into an angry rant that was the talk of the episode.

In January of this year, she returned, dressing and acting demurely as a counterpoint to her previous appearance, but after being rejected, she flipped the bird at the judges.

Her original appearance on Idol gained her appearances on Live With Regis and Kelly, Extra and The View, as well as an interview with Howard Stern.

The Morning Call, the newspaper in her hometown of Allentown, Pa., has more

Guilty as the next person of watching the bizaare takes of some of AI's contestants maybe it's time to really edit. AI does air footage that is questionable either due to deliberate or many times, uncontrollable contestant behavior. AI is a singing competition. Time to get back to basics.

Alexis was never a guest on the Howard Stern Show.

SKK: Just going by what her hometown paper said. Will see what I can find out.

That is sad...she is too young to die.

What I find odd is that there is no description of how she died, other than she was hit with a car. Nothing like maybe a random person hit her and then fled the scene. Or maybe she ran across the highway. No info what so ever. strange..

I feel for her family, I know 1st hand what its like, my husband was killed by a hit & run DRUNK driver,,, my deepest condolances to her family..
