'Real World' looks to be coming to D.C. next

I'm a little late on this, but reports are that the next season of The Real World is going to be in D.C.

My favorite quote from the link above: D.C. has been long-rumored as a location for the show, perhaps because the series is running out of major American cities for their casts to throw up in.

Ha!

It's been rumored for a while, but Reality Blurred points out that the production company is now hiring PAs. That's a pretty good sign. That's "good" in terms of yes, there might be a show, not "good" for the denizens of Washington.

If you see a camera crew coming at you somewhere in D.C., duck. The kid from the middle-of-nowhere might say something accidentally offensive or the kid with the anger/alcohol problem might take a swing at you or any one of them might spill a drink on you.

It is about time!!!!!!!

This rumor has been going around FOREVER. When I was at UMD 5 years ago, a friend swore she encountered the camera crew at a bar in AdMo and I've heard reports of MTV leasing real estate in the area multiple times. At this point, I'll believe it when I see it... I don't know why it's taken so long though. They should have capitalized on the election fever last year and sent the cast to intern on the Hill, hahaha.

I wish they would do a Real World in Baltimore. I don't think they would make a mistake of acting like a jerk, simply because they would do it to the wrong person and probably get jacked up.

Or even better, have a Baltimore edition of Survivor in the bad neighborhoods.

Real World - Washington, D.C.

It just doesn't sound plausible.

There is nothing real about the Real World when they go out of their way to pick a politically correct cast. Total joke.

SKK: I would describe recent casting more as "likely to get drunk and hook up on camera" than anything else, though to be fair, I am a couple of seasons behind.

They'll live in Georgetown on the waterfront I bet. It'll be funny because they'll still manage to start a fight even with dc's mellow crowds.

Nope. The house amazingly will be in DUPONT CIRCLE. Just a couple of weeks ago crews gutted the house and remodeled the unit. Camera equipment sits on the 4th floor. And production vehicles are parked outside. You can't evenpark near the house. They have already cleared zoning and have paper up on the windows so you can no longer see inside.

The Real World DC House is located at 2000 S. Street NW. Walked by today... Took pictures... Got flipped the bird... Indeed parking is not allowed (meters are covered with red tarps that read "no parking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. all cars will be towed." info at vevmo(dot)com or wonkette(dot)com.

SKK: Thanks for the update, Chris.

Sarah Kickler Kelber, an editor in the features department since 1999, got sucked into reality TV with the first episode of MTV's The Real World in 1992. Then came Survivor and American Idol, and suddenly, the genre was everywhere.
