Susan Boyle finishes in second on 'Britain's Got Talent'
Who would have thought? Susan Boyle, who garnered worldwide fame after her tryout on Britain's Got Talent, came in second place in the talent show's finale.
The Associated Press has a little bit more -- and a great lead: "She dreamed a dream -- and it almost came true."
I'll try to track down a video in a bit.

I guess this answers my question of why I never watch these shows. If Susan Boyle is not the winner with her extraordinary talent, what is the contest really about?

The winners of the show were a very talented dance group called 'Diversity'. They were an AMAZING ,extremely talented group of young people who sum up the talented youth of the UK. The fact that Susan Boyle didn't win ALSO sums up the UK public. We tend to take things at face value and our judgement is not influenced by the media or anyone else.

I thought it was a talent show, not a reality show about UK social response. It seemed like the majority of people felt Susan Boyle has AMAZING talent.

Please don't take yourself or the programme so seriously. The point I was making was that there were other talented performers on the show besides Susan Boyle. Obviously the majority of UK voters preferred Diversity or they would not have won.
Susan Boyle was hyped up by the media and several 'celebrities' and lets face it, this was due to her appearance as well as her voice. There were numerous discussions, not only in the UK, regarding her appearance. She was dubbed the 'hairy angel'!
She suffered a breakdown of sorts after losing the contest and has been admitted to a private psychiatric hospital as a result. I wish her well and hope that she can return home to her family away from the media spotlight...alas I think not.
