'I Love Money': Destiney's out
Lindsay Diokno on I Love Money:
I'm a big fan of family dinners on Sundays, but there's a downside -- I missed the first 10 minutes of I Love Money thanks to the guys in my house watching the Hall of Fame game.
When I finally got to tune in, I was greeted with the sight of the contestants crying. I don’t know what the challenge was based on, but I'm intrigued.
This week, the contestants have to make at least one tear cross the line that is drawn on their faces, right under their noses. Every person has to shed at least one tear to win, so there's a lot of slicing onions, blowing cigar smoke and yelling at each other to make each other cry. Pumkin gets the ingenious idea to rub some cayenne pepper in her eyes. Toastee tells 12 Pack to smack her. Real is plucking nose hairs. And for all her talent at fake crying, Brandi can’t squeeze out a single tear.
In the end, the gold team wins, so Toastee is paymaster. There's a segment of everyone drinking and kissing up to Toastee, while Destiney and Entertainer plan to save Destiney from elimination. It's not a terrible plan, but I'm kind of over this segment and tune out for a little bit. After the other of Love shows, drunken debauchery loses its shock value.
In the Vault the next day, the green team immediately picks Destiney for elimination, then Real and Brandi volunteer themselves. Obviously everyone's got it out for Destiney. (On a side note, the show's host will now be in the Vault every time a team picks members for elimination since Mr. Boston's flip out last episode.) So Real, Destiney and Brandi head out for their power outing with Toastee, who's torn between eliminating Destiney, who saved her from the first elimination, and Real, who's a strong competitor and has an alliance with Toastee.
Toastee comes back and meets with her team to discuss elimination, and she says she might drop Real. Pumkin gets upset and starts referencing an alliance she and Toastee have with Real. Did this alliance happen at the beginning of the episode or did I miss something from an earlier episode? This alliance is news to me. Through the magic of editing, Toastee sounds like she's pulling to bounce Real, so Destiney's going home. Entertainer's going to be a jerk to everyone after this.
And shocker, I'm right -- Destiney is bounced.
Final thoughts: I wasn’t as enthralled with this episode as I thought I’d be. Is it me, or are Heather and Hoopz getting NO camera time? I'm actually very disappointed by that. Real -- you aren’t bringing bamboozled back. Please start using another catchphrase.
Next week looks AWESOME …
I just spent 10 minutes looking for a video of next week's episode, and I can't find it, so let me just explain the challenge -- based on an incident from I Love New York, the contestants have to save a Midget Mac mannequin from drowning. Hilarity ensues.
