Joshua wins 'So You Think You Can Dance'

Joshua Allen has just become "America's Favorite Dancer." He's the Season 4 winner of So You Think You Can Dance.

The hip-hop dancer from the Dallas auditions beat out runner-up Stephen "Twitch" Boss, a hip-hop dancer, third-placed finisher Katee Shean, a contemporary dancer, and fourth-placed contestant Courtney Galiano, a lyrical dancer.

With the title, he wins $250,000 and a role in the coming movie Step Up 3-D. Joshua was overcome with emotion and cried.

He encouraged the audience to pursue their dreams and to never give up. "The sky is the limit," he said. "Never let anybody tell you you can't do anything. God is in control. With God, you can do anything."

I'm glad Joshua won. But I'm very surprised Katee was third. She's the strongest technical dancer of the top four. But as one of my readers so smartly pointed out, this is a competition that rewards America's favorite dancer. Not the best one.

Enough from me. I'll have a full recap tomorrow. What do you think? Did America get it right? Whom did you vote for? And what was your favorite moment of the season and of the finale?

I was really pulling for Katee. She shows such joy on the dance floor, and I think she made all her partners look better. (Witness how many of the judges' favorite performances she was in.)

But I'm not surprised or let down by Josh's win. He has an interesting storyline, a fun personality, and he rose to the challenges that the show is all about. I was pleased with the whole season.

What I'm wondering--what ever happened to Sabra, who won last season? She was conspicuously absent when they brought out "the best of the best" from previous seasons.

We thought either Joshua or Katee would win it. She showed more emotion when she was eliminated than we've seen all season. Nice that this year they have a consolation prize for the best girl.

America got it right as far as the remaining Top 4. I voted for Josh and Katee. Another contestant, Will, should have been in the Top 4. He was by far the best dancer on the show, but just not America's favorite. America's lately have been going for the underdog and not the most technical dancer. But to me technique, talent and beauty go hand-in-hand. Just because a dancer is more reserved it doesn't mean they're arrogant. It shouldn't be a personality contest.

Isn't it possible that Katee actually came in 2nd in voting, but then was sent off earlier in the show so that producers could have time to announce her consolation prize? It would have been near impossible to do that with all the confetti flying down at the end.

I picked Joshua as the dancer that I wanted to win from the first time I saw him dance. I loved his personality and he has an amazing gift. I'm so glad that he won!!!

They totally got it right. It had to be Katee or Joshua, because they've been the strongest throughout the competition. While Twitch was entertaining, he just couldn't compare to Joshua when dancing outside of his style. Joshua convincingly and consistently pulled off samba, disco, contemporary, and everything else they through at him. Oh, and he was good at hip-hop, too :P

Top four were probably correct. I would have given Katee the top spot, followed by Twitch, then Joshua, then Courtney -- yet there was so little difference from one to four.

And I give Nigel and Mary props.

I love the show and haven't missed a season but I feel Chelsie Hightower should have been in the top 4 instead of Courtney. Not taking anything away from her dancing ability but I enjoyed all the routines Chelsie did but Courtney had some really dull ones....anyway thats my opinion . Chelsie was absolutely beautiful....
