'Dancing With the Stars': injury aftermath and someone goes home

Despite what all the gossip blogs were saying, Cristian de la Fuente, who was injured last night on Dancing With the Stars, is here for tonight's live show.

During the recap from last night, Cheryl Burke interviews that she heard a crack and thought her dress had ripped or something, and then realized the noise had been from Cristian's arm.

Reprisal time: Len Goodman says they want to see Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska's quickstep.

Results: Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are safe.

In case you ever wondered if they taped some of this stuff, the supposed backstage promo of Def Leppard and the pros who will be dancing with them includes Cheryl Burke and Karina Smirnoff, but then during the transition to commercial, which returns back to the stage, Cheryl and Karina are on stage with their partners. Whoa.

Then, it's "DanceCenter" with Jerry Rice, Kenny Mayne and Len Goodman.

Then DWtS tries to out-hip Idol and succeeds by about two decades with a "performance" of "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard, though it's some of the saddest lip-syncing I've ever seen, since it sounds like they are just playing the CD.

More "DanceCenter."

Results again: Mario and Karina Smirnoff are safe. (Whew, says Baltimore.)

Def Leppard's back for another performance, this one of a song from the band's new album, which came out today. Woo.

Results: Everyone looks really solemn except for Shannon Elizabeth, who is grinning. After the break, Tom and Samathan talk to Cristian. He says he ruptured the tendon of his bicep. Even so, he found out a few minutes ago that his doctor said he can delay the surgery and stay on the show if the voters have agreed to let him stay. Cristian and Cheryl are indeed safe, Tom reveals. In the bottom two: Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. Safe: Jason and Edyta. Bottom two: Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough.

Going home: Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough. She says the show has been amazing, and she's made friends for life. Derek says she's been a great partner and she's "a big dork, but I love that."

They dance; she cries.

What do you think about the results?

I believe the show is fabulous, but I don't believe anyone who has the professionally skating experience of Kristi Yamaguchi should ever have been chosen to be on the show. When you skate at her level, you had to learn all your routines on land first, and it is a fact that she has had professional dancing instruction for years. Her being on the show illegitimizes Dancing With Stars, and is not fair to any of the other stars. If she wins I don't want to watch the show anymore. She is arrogant for not resigning.

Cristian is a phony just like his partner, we didn't think he was that weak to take on her personality. We challenge the truthfulness of his 'ruptured tendon', you are in so much pain that you can't stand it and he's going to practice a routine? How gallant of him.....and to compare himself with Marlee, you can't de la you are not even in her league!!!

Shannon deserved to be the next person voted off. She is not as talented as the others and is a whiner! Too annoying to watch any longer.

Hey Sarah, I thought that Def Leppard's performances were the best part of the show. Dancing with the Stars is reality tv gone bad, not that any reality tv is good.

uneducated person commenting on def leppard as per usual. Oh sorry sweatheart didnt they have on some pop artist for you to sing in the mirror to. No wonder your pissed off with the world with looks like that!

Hmm.. I like Def Leppard, and I don't think it was bad lip syncing. It was Atrocious Lip Syncing! The cymbals weren't even moving, there was a big long lead solo that NOBODY was playing, and lips weren't quite moving right with the CD at times. I wish I had taped it.

I agree about Kristi having had years of formal dance training including ballroom. (remember she was a pairs skating champ). I also agree that she is arrogant and smug booking performances at some night club that was hosting a party for Tiger woods. Krist acting as if she's already won the trophy. However, as someone who knows something about dance Kristi's performances are "not great" she's vulnerable. Much of the choreography is weak in places, her waltz & quickstep were not strong in the line of the dance. In the stationary dances like the rhumba the hip action was lacking as well as the passion and expression were non-existent. Many of her dances tend to have a "sameness" within the choreography. The faster dancing is allowing her to cover weakness in style and variation. Watch Kristi's feet they don't move well. Jason & Edyta, Mario & Karina, also Christian & Cheryl are dancing routines that are more complex and superior to the footwork and choreography Krist & Mark are doing. Len is right "hip-hop boogaloo" moves are flashy to watch but they cover up a lot of flaws. It is flash without content. Watching on video the weeks I missed I saw some very good footwork by the other teams that was undermarked. Kristi's cha, cha wasn't good. her movements lacked crisp definition. Len has been giving Kristi a pass on her footwork. Perhaps its because most of the choreography contains very little footwork that is complicated. flashy moves and speed are gimmicks and imo Kristi is beatable now. Karina& mario are flat out better. The others have turned in challenging routines that are more in keeping with the character and quality of the dances required. Kristi's rhumba & samba were not really legit. There were no rolls and the line of the dance was weak. This could be due to the choreographic choices of her partner? Perhaps he isn't challenging her with anything more difficult because judges are giving them a free pass? I don't know why this is so. But much of this teams dances of off kilter and not in keeping with the traditional aspects of the dances required.

I agree with the first comment, Kristi Yamaguchi had unfair advantage over the other dancers, if she wins I won't stop watching as I love the show but being a professional skater she had to be a pro in lifts etc. I personally prefer Jason.

KRISTI YAMAGUCHI was selected by ABC to do this show...so if you don't like it, write to them! Thank God she's on the show to bring some decency to it, also Jason, Marlee, and Marissa are in the same category of people like Kristi-good, caring, integrity people. So unlike cristian and cheryl that don't even know how to spell the word integrity....domo

Kristi was a singles skater not a doubles skater. Where did you get your information from. Maybe you should spend more time actually watching the dancers instead of judging them. Kristi and Mark will win bc they are far better than anyone other pair.

I have always been a fan of Def Leppard. I was disappointed to see the lip syncing, however, I feel it was a decision on the part of the producer. Def Leppard is an awesome live performer. Since the dancer's moves were so quick, with drastic stops on beat and they had obviously practiced to the recorded song, I feel Def Leppard was not allowed to do a live show for the dancers benefit.

i do not agree with derek and shannon being eliminated! thats stupid! they were a great couple and wonderful dancers! just cuz there are rumors goin around that they are more than friends they get kicked off!? WTF!? the same thing happened to mark and sabrina last year and everyone was convinced that they were going to take the mirror trophy! i think its just ludachris that derek and shannon were eliminated...

Good gods, who gives a rat's [deleted] if they were lip synching?! They probably were! If I'm counting my dates correctly, Joe was in the midst of a vicious upper respiratory infection that had them cancelling dates faster than I have EVER witnessed in the long, LONG, (loooong) time since I've been a Lep fan above all other bands.

And for a man whose terribly il...my gawd was he looking HOT or what?!

I don't watch Dancing Wih The Stars, so I don't know WHO the little weenie is that was flopping around down there (dancing? Hmm ok...)

Nor do I know who the girl is who tied a rooster to her [deleted] and called it a day in the wardrobe department.

I'm just glad Lep was there, I got to hear the new song. Joe has "Slang" hair again, and wow is it sexy (all the better to run my toes through my dear heh! heh! heh!)

So what was the argument? I'm a hppy camper...as long as the rooster wasn't harmed in any way.

Kristi skated both singles and pairs. Krist's pair partner was Rudy Galindo.

I liked watching dancing with the stars until this season. I think it's very unfair that ABC selected Kristi Yamaguchi to be on the show. Maybe the TV producers wanted to make sure that a woman will win this season's title. Why else would they select a professional ice-skater who has years of dancing experience. No matter how hard the other contestants try, they will not dance as well as Kristi Yamaguchi, at least not within a short 10 week learning period. Every contestant started at ground 0 but Kristi Yamaguchi was already on the top. That is so unfair. I don't think I want to watch the show anymore.
