'American Idol': More on the pros vs. amateurs issue

In case you missed it, I wrote a story for today's Sun about the so-called controversy over whether there are too many people in the American Idol Top 24 with professional background experience. Feel free to weigh in on the issue in the comments below.

Also, check out the photos and sidebar here.

And big thanks to Joe R at Television Without Pity and Eric at idol-mania.com for talking to me for the story.

"If they hadn't already tried to make a name for themselves, then they don't deserve to be in (the) competition," said judge Paula Abdul, defending the contestants' real-world experience.

Fine, but shouldn't somebody tell all the thousands of kids, moms and dads showing up at the auditions that they are wasting their time and money. These people believe that the show is looking for "undiscovered" talent because that is the way the show is sold to the public.

I believe they should not be allowed and I have been an avid Idol fan since season2,
but I have lost trust with Idol this year is the last straw. In my opinion they put a lot of people that were "prev signed" thru and not alot of great undiscovered talent this year. Idol promised this would be the best talent but they let the best guys go home: Drew Poppelretier, Josiah Lemming, Brandon Green, Colton Swon, and the long blonde hair rocker. When I watched the top 12 guys perform I cried and vowed never to watch the show the rest of the season. I believe Idol sent the above guys home because they were better than their plants that have money behind them. I also predict that Drew Poppelreiter will become a country super star, Josiah Lemmings a pop star, Brandon Green a great christian singer, Colton Swon a country star, and if the rocker contiunes a star also leaving the top 12 in the dust. Just go and listen to this guys sing..all you have to do is google their name with music and it will pull up their sights. American Idol in my opinion has been trying to shove down what they want on us ..try to find someone who is undiscovered but has been working on there dreams with real talent and is SALE ABLE!!!

just want to say thanks for the support the great article i just read, i know its way after the point but i just read it so thank you and God Bless
