'Amazing Race': down to final four

Football is always screwing things up. At least for whatever show airs after 60 Minutes on CBS, and lately, that's been The Amazing Race.

We only have one TV and cable box at my house, plus I'm usually watching football on Sundays anyway, which led me to get way, way behind with TAR.

I still have several unwatched episodes, but last night I decided to watch that latest one, because it was now or never.

Though I've basically neglected it all season, I do enjoy this show. Watching how teams deal with the stresses dealt to them in the race is always interesting.

I found it interesting that Ronald of the dad-and-daughter team is still berating her and realizing after the fact he needs to stop it. I thought by now he would have chilled out a little. Also, Jenn interviewed at the beginning of the episode about how she and Nathan were on an upward swing in their relationship and were going to be so much nicer to each other; once it got to the point where they were having trouble with a task, the meltdowns started yet again.

In the end, goth couple Kynt and Vyxsin (pictured) were eliminated, leaving grandfather-and-grandson team Nicolas and Donald and dating couple TK and Rachel to fight it out with Ronald and Christina and Jenn and Nate.

Having missed so much of the season, I don't feel right in making predictions. What do you think about the final four teams?

Sorry about Kynt & Vyxsin, I was rooting for them to win. As to the remaining teams, I do NOT want Jen & Nate to win. Anyone else would be fine. I'm not thrilled with Ron, but I think Christina kind of deserves it for putting up with him. My favorites now are TK and Rachel, followed by Nickolas & Don. Maybe N&D can get some of Joyce & Unchenna's FF good luck. After all tatoos are alot more permanent than head-shaving.

I rather liked the goths although they made a couple of unforgivably stupid mistakes in this last leg. Given that they started an hour off the team ahead of them, and still managed to catch up, they did remarkably well. But not putting the U-turn on Nate & Jenn, and the errors with the slips just plain doomed them. (Kudos to the editing for both this week and last, for making both eps look as though it was practically a footrace at the end.) For the remaining teams:

  • Nate and Jenn seem to be getting a redemption story arc, which most TAR fans think means that they may win it all. This would be on par with Flo's win in Season 3.
  • Nicolas and Donald remain surprisingly strong contenders who also take the time to rest deeply whenever they can (clearly they slept while on the ferry last week, whereas the goths did not, and they took advantage of being able to sleep in a hotel this week while the others stayed on the airport's doorstep). I've liked them all along but unless they get a very lucky break I don't think they'll win it.
  • Ronald and Cristina are just too hampered by his behavior. They usually blunder their way into good positions.
  • TK and Rachel go through these phases of working very smart, and working very dumb. Last week with the Ultralights was a little of both. They made fantastic time getting to the Ultralights, then they came unraveled looking for the clue. This week they appeared to be working a little more smart. They can win, but there's no sure thing for anybody.

Have I hedged my bets enough?
