Moving On

Just wanted to let you know that the beer blog, Kasper on Tap, is being retired.  In its two year run, the blog did not attract a large enough audience to sustain it.

I have enjoyed the blog's give and take, the humor and the honest discussion about this area's beers and its brewing culture. Much of that came from the readers. As I said in my first post in October, 2007 my mission  is to drink good beer, to spread the word, and to spark interesting and entertaining discussion about the beer-drinking life.

I am still  at The Sun  and I plan to write about beer in the print and online editions. I may eventually end up blogging about beer  through some other forum.   Blogging about beer, like sipping it, can be habit forming.

Cheers

Rob,
I hope you will continue to blog through another forum. I have very much enjoyed your sudsy contributions.
THANKS MITCH I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. ROB

Well, that is a kick in the butt of the Maryland beer drinkers. Glad they waited until after BBW. Your blog was one of the main things that kept me coming to The Sun. I guess I will have to find my information out in other ways. Ron, Thanks for all of the hard work that you have put into this blog.

Wootown Brewers
THANKS KEVIN FOR THE KIND WORDS. ROB

Boo!

That's sad news Rob. Sorry to hear it.

Thank you for the 2 years of fun beer-related pieces you've written about here. I've certainly enjoyed and have learned quite a bit; especially from meeting up with you in person.

We hope to be hearing more from you soon in some form or another.
BRAD THANKS ROB

That's a real shame, Rob. I'll still pop over and read your articles on beer and hopefully the master of the Sun war room will see fit to allow the occasional video too. How to pour a Ravens themed beer was pretty great.

And I'll second the comment above hoping that you will find another blog to share some words on
JIM , THANKS, HOPE WE HAVE A REASON TO POUR A PURPLE BEER THIS YEAR ROB

Rob - sheesh, you could have waited til monday for such bad news as this. really sad to hear it.

thanks for the great posts, and increasing my beer knowledge among other things.
RYAN, YOU HAVE A WHOLE WEEKEND TO RECOVER,
THANKS, ROB

Wow. So sorry to hear that Rob. I've enjoyed your posts quite a bit.
THANKS, ROB

Oh no! I may not post much, but I read everyone through my RSS feed subscription... very dissapointing.
Let us know where you might be blogging next, or maybe a final blog on Best Beer Blogs (particulalrly local baltimore ones) so we can get our fix somewhere else.
DEAN, WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ROB

The Sun's "Light for All" just got a little dimmer.MATT; THANKS ROB

Such a bummer Rob, I am going to miss it.

Hopefully you can start another one somewhere else THANKS BOB, ROB....

I will tip one back for Kasper on Tap this weekend. I will miss it, but knowing you can place a few articles in print is good to.

What kind of 4-0 should I pour out in your honor tonight?

I'll be in touch about the cider tasting, and slide you some extra homebrewed goodness to dull the pain.

There are injustices in the world, and losing your (almost) daily thoughts on things beer will be one. I will continue to read your (unfortunately) less frequent musings on beer in your weekly column. To paraphrase Douglas Adams: so long, and thanks for all the bloggings.

The blog will be missed, but hopefully not for long. If nothing else please start one up on blogspot.

Rob, happy trails to you ...

Sorry to see the blog end. It's one of the blogs I check daily, and I always enjoyed the beer related columns in print.

Keep up the good work, and try to sneak some beer columns in!

PS: The P**t dropped their bi-weekly beer column from their Food section. It's all wine and whiskey now. Time to renew my subscription to the Mid-Atlantic Brewing News.

Rob,
It was a pleasure to find you online as an adjunct to your print personna and like vudean I read you religiously through my RSS reader. Now the beer scene here in the land of pleasant living just became a little less pleasant for me and others.

Keep the glasses full my friend.

Thanks for everything Rob. I've really enjoyed the blog, but I've enjoyed your writing in the Sun for quite a while, so I know I'll enjoy whatever you turn your talents to next.

Rob- sorry to hear the blog is going, but glad you are still at the Sun. I've enjoyed your posts and learned a lot about beer.
Please let us know when and where you start your new blog; be sure to announce it on Twitter and Facebook.

Rob, sorry to hear it. I've always enjoyed reading you here. I'll raise a pint for you in Portland!

Well, that's really a shame. I came to this blog fairly recently, but I've really really really enjoyed the writing and the topics covered. I wish I had posted more to up the blog's profile! I hope the archived entries stick around for a while so I get to read them all.

Thanks for the posts and info. I think it's clear the blog is going to be missed!

Sorry to hear it. Wish I'd read and commented more often to help keep this alive.

Argh! Terrible news! I, too, will miss regular reading of this forum. A dreary Monday morning just got drearier...
:^(

This is a shame! I visited the blog every day. I hope you will find another outlet soon for your beer-related writings!

Thanks for the work you've put in. I really hope you find another outlet, as you are an excellent source of information for local beer news. Sad news.

Rob

Your blog will be sorely missed. In addition to providing excellent coverage of the Beer World for the Sun, you also really promoted smaller blogs and are generally a godsend to the local craftbeer industry.

Thanks for everything!

The blog will be missed, and it was nice to meet you at the Real Ale Festival and talk beer for a little bit.

Sad times Rob. I always loved clicking on your bookmark to see what I would find to fill my beer knowledge gut. I honestly think my all time favorite discussion was the Natty Ice/Natty Boh controversy. Anyways, I hope you blog about beer sometime else and revel in drinking beer out of season(like a lot of us do). MMmmm imperial porters in summer and saisons in chilly Alaskan winter. Good stuff.

He lives with his wife, Judith, a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, in a downtown Baltimore rowhouse.
