Displaced Texan Looking for Shiner Smokehaus

Mesquite trees in Texas

Daniel, a displaced Texan going to graduate school at the University of Maryland, wants to know if anyone has seen Shiner Smokehaus in this neck of the woods.

If so where?

This beer, from Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas, is a Helles-style with pale malt that has been smoked with mesquite wood.

Anybody had it?

I bought some the other day from the Wine Source.

I liked it, but then again, I enjoy everything smoked.
The same could not be said about everyone who I gave a sip to. Not a soul who sampled liked it.

Screw them, more for me.

The Wine Source is quickly becoming my favorite beer store in the city/county area.

We got some at Liquor Mart & Deli, outside Annapolis. Sweet and slightly bitter. I liked it alot, though my wife decidedly did not. It would be great with a grilled bratwurst or smoky pit beef sandwich.

I saw it at the Wine Merchant. Was very tempted but got some Aventinus instead.

If it's a tough to find beer, the Wine Source is a good place to start. They had this one when I was there on Saturday. Did people like it?

Wish you well finding the Shiner, my friend. Lovely brew. Thank goodness I live in Texas,

I saw it at Pine Orchard Liquors in Ellicott City.

Wells Discount Liquors had it a few weeks back along with a couple of other varieties of Shiner as well.

I found it at Lindwood square wine and spirits in Elkridge.

Corridor in Laurel, MD has it for $5.50 per six pack. I love all of Shiner's brews, but the Smokehaus wasn't for me.
