Ain't the beer cold? Sipping at Camden Yards

Yes, I was at Camden Yards Tuesday night , sipping beers as the Os battled the Red Sox. Yes, I left before the comeback.

Early in evening, when the Red Sox built a big lead, the only joy was in the beer drinking.

Started with a Wild Goose IPA,  moved on to a Flying Dog Old Scratch.

Somewhere along the way, a wad of chewing gum landed on my seat in the right field bleachers.

The gum then got on the seat of my pants.

An usher tried to remove the gum from the bleacher seat. She failed but summoned a seat maintenace crew. They worked hard, using a substance I was afraid to apply to my pants. The usher found me another seat. I was still gummed up, and the Os were getting pasted.

Then the rain came.

It rained hard enough to scare Noah.

My buddies and I took shelter in the Bud Lite Warehouse. I sipped a Stella Artois.

It rained even harder. The Os were behind 10- 1. After one beer in the warehouse, we punted and headed home.

Later at my home, I listened to the Os dramatic comeback as I worked on removing the gum from my pants, ironing it onto a piece of cardboard.

As midnight approached, the Os won 11-10, with Brian Roberts scoring the winning run, and my pants were gum-free. Life was good.

The beer is pricey, $6.75, at the ballpark. But it is flavorful.

Anybody else drink beer and run last night? What do you drink at the ballpark?

What's on the seat of your pants?

Hi Kasper,

I put together a plea for patrons at Camden Yards to enjoy the microbrew stands rather than Bud or Miller at the Yard. Here it is if you're interested:

For my money, I enjoy Clipper City Gold when I got to games.

Thank you for letting me know Stella was available at the warehouse bar.

yup, for the price, it's the best value..and has a bit higher ABV...so you don't have to drink 10 to get a little courage to yell at the ump

as for you leaving early last night...wow, not sure i could forgive myself if i left that one, but at least you saw the end on tv.

one for the ages.

Agree with Jay. Should patronize the microbrews stands. At Camden yards, i usually get Linenkugel partly because its so rare to find that in draft in MD.

i meant to say i agree that i find clipper city gold as the best deal

I enjoyed the late / comeback innings while sipping an Orval at Ale Mary's in Fell's Point. (back and forth between there and Bad Decisions).

There were only about 3 of us in the bar but if you were standing outside, you would've thought the place was packed if you heard the noises coming out!

Rob - where can I find the Wild Goose and Flying Dog selections? I know where to find the Gold Ale from Clipper City, but had no luck finding the other good stuff.

I got the Clipper City Gold at the game Saturday -- definitely much better than drinking Bud Light!

I've been enjoying the IPA and Old Scratch. Unfortunately, they no longer handle the DuClaw porter. Surprisingly, a cold porter on a hot baseball day realllly hits the spot.

BrickGrill -- don't worry, you'll be seeing more leinenkugel...it just got bought by MillerCoors

Sorry Rob,
Normally,. I won't leave until the fat Baltimore Hon's say... "Hey Babes, does you want the rest of them Nachos", but this was one for the ages or at least my age and had I hung that long, any micro-stand beverage would have paved the way for the long ride home. However; I was at home drinking this incredible brew I got from a good friend who recently visited Kentucky. It was an ordinary pale ale, but aged in real Kentucky Bourbon barrels and had a subtle yet Orioles Kick-Ass Victory bourbanesque quality to it. I quickly followed up the victory shenanigans with a shot of Old Pikesville Rye, a CAO Italia and an '06 Dogfish World Wide Stout. Remember when it was cool to quaff a Natty Premium after a Boog Powell 3-Runner to win for it for Earl, who was smoking IN the dugout!!

I was at that game, but my friends wanted to leave during the rain delay and go across the street to Sliders/Pickles. So, I had to watch the comeback on a tv outside of the bar as opposed to personally witnessing it....

Question in regards to Clipper City: I was sitting in Section 66 and the closest MD microbrew stand did not offer Clipper City Gold Ale, but Leinenkugel's instead. I LOVE Leinenkugel's, but I love CC more (it's the local boy in me). So, my question is, has Leinenkugel's replaced CC at all of the microbrew stands, or just that particular one? I was quite disappointed that I couldn't have my usual CC to sip during the game, but the nail in the coffin was that the Leinenkugel's keg was kicked when I ordered it! So, I had to settle for something else at the stand which was ok, but it was no Leiney or CC.

Go
Red
Sox!
I'm so glad I didn't stay watching that game on TV. I turned it off at the rain delay because it was "just another Sox win over the Orioles."
We're visiting Camden Yards this August. I'll try one of the microbrews, thank you. Go Red Sox.
