Milwaukee man drinks 10 beers, drives golf cart home

Milwaukee natives are known for their  fondness for beer. They once were the center of America's brewing universe. They named their professional baseball team The Brewers who play in  a new ballpark called  Miller Park .

In the old ball park when a member of the home team  hit a home run  Bernie Brewer, the team's mascot. used to celebrate by sliding into a mug of beer.  He also outruns sausages as the video shows.

But  recently another Milwaukee beer drinker appears to have set a record for the longest drunken drive in a golf cart.

According to the Associated Press,  a South Milwaukee man was accused of driving drunk last week after trying to use a golf cart to drive home nearly 40 miles away from the golf course where he had been drinking beer.

The man  told police that his relatives had left him behind at the golf club.

So he got in a golf cart and headed home down  Highway 167 .

When the sheriff caught up with him, the man said  he had drunk about 10 beers, but did not consider himself intoxicated.

The 10 beers might explain why his relatives ditched him.

But this leads to other questions. Is it true that Milwaukee, as Forbes magazine  said in 2006 article,  is America's drunkest city ?.

Anyone have tales of drinking beer with the natives of Wisconsin?

 Is their capacity exceptional?

Could this golf cart incident have happened anywhere other than Milwaukee?

Left at the 19th hole, maybe his relatives dumped him because he was drinking crappy beer? or taking too long in the bathroom? Not finishing a 12 pack off?

10 beers at a golf course? Miller Lite, Coors Light or Bud Light? The going Light/Lite conversion scale is what, 4.5 to 1? So he finished just over two beers? There goes my caddy for next week!

(Disclaimer: Yes, drinking and driving anything including farm implements is not condoned, anytime, anyplace or anywhere.)

Yes Milwaukee is one of the drunkest. Probably because of the 30 breweries within the proximity. New Glarus and Lakefront are two good ones. Also, those drunks are only 90 minutes from the world's fattest city, Chicago (according to Men's Health) Those two cities deserve each other--fatty and drunky.

Went on a road trip last summer. Followed the O's to Milwaukee and Chicago. Milwaukee was great. Great town, great people. Hung out with the owner of the Lakefront Brewery after they closed down shop. Let's just say we got a private tour. You have to visit them if you ever make the trip. We did the Miller tour too and Miller Park. It's a great ballpark. No Camden Yards...
