What beer goes with a soft crab sandwich?

The July/August issue of Draft magazine offered up pairings of beers with sandwiches.

Peanut butter and jelly with -- are you ready for this? -- Sierra Nevada Porter.

Philly cheesteak with Avery India Pale Ale or Dogfish 60 Minute IPA.

Turkey Club with Anchor Steam.

Meatball sandwich with Saison Dupont and grilled cheese with Trumer Pils or Pilsner Urquell.

What do you think of these matchups?

I have trouble getting my head around the idea of drinking any beer with peanut butter and jelly.

But a beer with soft crab sandwich, topped with a slice of Maryland tomato -- that is a great marriage. I prefer a Pils, either Victory's Prima Pils or Clipper City's Uber Pils, with those dangling crab legs.

What is your favorite beer with a "soft"  sandwich?

If you can get Rogue's Love and Hoppiness, i feel it would be a great pairing. (a hoppy pilsner, delicious)

PBJ and any beer -- that sounds like a lot of my weeknight dinners.

Actually the beer I prefer with a grill cheese (especially in winter) is a nice Guinness

I like milk with a peanutbutter but I'd prefer a Wild Goose IPA with a good Cuban sandwich.

I think a moderately hopped pale ale like Sierra Nevada works well with most seafood. Mari Luna had a soft shell special that a Dos XX Amber made a nice match. If the soft shell has been dredged in flour or cornmeal with lots of Old Bay I suggest throwing the crab in garbage and drinking a Stone IPA or perhaps a Hop Devil to drown your sorrows.

Any time of year. Lean corned beef on lite rye with mustard from Attmans. Aged dill pickle and chips. Take home, open the sports page and a Smithwicks. Enjoy lunch.

Years ago it would've been hands down a Natty Boh. But since, I believe its been brewed in Detroit, Texas, and now North Carolina. Anyhow, from what I've gathered from Hugh Sisson, McHenry is the original Natty Boh recipe. So my vote goes to McHenry.

Victory Prima Pils !

Second for McHenry.

My favorite drink with soft crab is champange. I had this combo first at Charleston, and it works everytime. to keep to that theme, I'd say DeuS or Hennepin. Of course, that would be only if someone else were buying.

My everyday, local choice would be a McHenry.
