A peach beer that made me pucker.

As Grant and other correspondents have  warned, Dogfish's Festina Peche is one sour brew.

I had one the other night while watching the Os beat the Yankees. The result of the baseball game was sweet, but not the beverage.

The folks from Dogfish tell us that in the brewing process the "natural peach sugars are eaten by the yeast." I would say the sugars are "stomped" by the yeast.

I don't know if this beer is true to the Berliner Weisse tradition, but it does make you pucker.

An appetizer beer, not a late-night delight. Agree?

Anybody wild about this brew?

Agree this is a good appetizer beer. However, I find it to be very refreshing for drinking on a hot day or after working in the yard. I'm not a fan of fruit beers, but I do enjoy Festina Peche quite a bit.

The first time I drank it was late at night, and I was expecting something a little sweeter, that's for sure. I didn't really like it that much, but by the end of the 4-pack I grew to appreciate it a bit more.

I think it's good on a summer afternoon. And yeah, food pairing is pretty odd with this one. Worth a try, though, since it's such a unique style.

I had one with dinner the other night- some spicy chicken and It was refreshing when my pallet was on fire.

It's not bad with the right food. I guess it is a good thing that it is so expensive, one can't really enjoy too many of them together.

As a side note, the pumpkin beers are already out. Brewers are getting like the retail stores already. It is the first week of August and fall beers are hitting the shelves? By the time kids are back to school, they'll be pushing XMas brews. And, yes, even though I'm complaining, I picked up Smuttynose yesterday. Tasty.

Peachy? Yes. Sweet? Not at all. Honestly, it reminded me a little of champagne - fizzy and tart.

Here's my plug for visiting some of the friendliest people around, passionate about what they do, at a quirky / fun company - go tour the Dogfish Head brewery just north of Rehobeth Beach DE.

The tour ends, appropriately, with samples in a big tasting room - ask for a 75 minute IPA - a blend of their 60 and 90 minute IPAs on tap.
