Gimme your final four, and their beers

Like a lot of twisted Americans, I have been spending way too much time watching the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Not only do I have my final four, but I also have the beers that represent their regions of the country, the ones you would want to drink if you were on campus.

They are the Kansas Jayhawks and Boulevard Pale Ale, the North Carolina Tar Heels and Weeping Radish Black Radish beer, the UCLA Bruins and Sierra Nevada Celebration, and the Texas Longhorns and Shiner Bock.

What are your final four beers and teams?

Did you enjoy Sierra Nevada's Anniversary Ale this past fall? It became my new all-time favorite.

I doubt that the Northern California brewers of Sierra Nevada would appreciate being linked with UCLA. Stanford or Cal maybe, but not a school from Los Angeles -- even a if they are a No. 1 seed.

I agree with the Shiner Bock pick.

With UCLA,it's a bit of a stretch, but you could almost justify Dos Eqquis Green label,as Mexico is close enough to LA.
Staying with the international beers,
I vote for Boddington's Pub Ale,my latest and greatest favorite.Of course,England has no one in the tournament, probably not even one player.Just wanted to get my plug in for Boddie's

North Carolina
Heinzelmannchen Black Forest Stout
Sylva, NC

Wisconisn
Either Road Slush Oatmeal Stout or Wisconsin Belgian Red from New Glarus Brewing.

Stanford
Anchor Steam Porter

Memphis
Dunklweizen from Yazoo Brewing

Well, my Pittsburgh / Iron City pick left the building this weekend, as did Georgetown (anyone remember Olde Heurich? Is it still made?)

Went to school with one of the heirs to Olde Huerich. They don't make the Amber anymore, but the Foggy Botom can still be found if you look hard enough.

BTW, even though I have them bowing out in the Elite Eight, I thouroughly endorse the Weeping Radish call...delicious!
