Will BWI offend Das Racist too?
Here's your shot of outrage for the week: A British Airport detained Das Racist for eight hours Monday over problems with their visa.
The New York mock-rap duo are not taking it lightly. On their website they posted their detention papers, and complained about the treatment they received at the hands of airport agents.
"We were held in a room with books, prayer rug and compass, television and remote, and these horrible sandwiches," they wrote, appalled.
The visa problem? Flying while Indian? Their bogus politics, as the two first suggested?
Nah, it was "because of some sticklerism on the part of UK Customs regarding paperwork," they wrote.
Word of advice to the next airport that receives them: lay off the full-body scans. That airport? Good ol' Baltimore-Washington International. The rappers are playing a show at Sonar on January 13.
News of the detention was all over the interblogs yesterday, but I've been in the process of scheduling an interview with them to preview the show, and so I asked their flack if the rappers had any messages for local TSA. Sadly, I haven't yet gotten a sassy answer back.
Maybe they'll have something more to say at Sonar.
