Grumpie's closed for renovations
Forget those $2 drafts at Grumpie's Pour House for the time being.
The Federal Hill bar was closed for renovations last week.
Manager Sarah Clark said the bar's last night was Thanksgiving eve.
MaGerk's owners, who have managed the property for eight years, plan to expand the bar into the building next door.
That building, which the managers bought last year, used to be the Federal Hill Lounge.
Clark said the new owners "chose to wait" a whole year to pursue an expansion. It was approved in late September.
She said the plan is to break ground on the expansion next week. It should last three to four months, at least, she said.
It will include renovations to the interior, though, asked what those would look like, Clark was circumspect.
"it's going to be a surprise," she said. "It's not quite press-ready."
Clark, who until now managed both MaGerk's and Grumpie's, said the re-opened Grumpie's would have a new manager as well.
"Grumpie's was a simple set-up," she said. "The new place will be a bigger business, so we're going to have a separate manager."
The property at 25 E Cross Street, which is nearly 1,000 square feet, is valued at $116,700, according to property records.

When are we going to find out the deal with Bill's Lighthouse?! Isn't it being auctioned off today? Yes, I realize I am probably the only person in the world that cares about this bar.

I too, care about bills. I'm glad that it will be hopefully sticking around for a little bit longer.
As for the matter at hand. Does Fed Hill really need another magerks/mothers/mad river/stalking horse type bar? And [Thirsty] Pub Dog will always be my go to spot for pizza!

I liked Grumpies when you could order from Ultimate Pizza and get a meat lovers (with no pork!) and they bring it two doors down and you could eat it in the bar. Also the wife could eat her sushi. Now we're gonna be confined to a probably exspensive menu.
