Midnight Sun seeks contributors, haters of Vampire Weekend

Readers, Midnight Sun is looking for contributors to review concerts and bars. Hopefully, not at the same time. Although, sometimes that yields interesting results.

A contributor should have an authentic voice and the writing chops to match it. Your taste in beer or music is actually irrelevant, though if you're the kind of person who started to like the Ting Tings after P4K gave them a 3.8, you'd be starting off on the right foot. Lovers of Ale Mary's in Fells Point also get gold stars.

Those interested, e-mail three writing samples and a small bio.

(If you have ideas for blogs beyond reviews -- like, say, a Tipsy Tuesday - pitch them along with your writing samples and bio. Also if you have 800 words in you about the importance/irrelevance of celebrity spawn and meme Willow Smith).

i'm just gonna start writing my own 1000+ word reviews in the comments. is that ok?

Damn, if I still lived in Baltimore, I would contribute. But can we get more info on clubs/lounges? MS has been pretty beer & shot bar centric, and I'm at a loss for things to do when I come home.

When in the application process do we discuss compensation?

@hemingway: oh how i wish i could

this blog is turnng into complete bs. Trying to say you are more indie then p4k is tired and lame. Who gives an f. P4k actually churns interesting and well written posts every day. Sad to see this blog turn so south. Any know of any decent baltimore blogs that I can read instead?

This is THE blog... and links to related blogs and concerts and shows within 80 miles...not reviewing garbage like Chesney at Nissan...

Isn't that your job, EM?

one of the goals of the blog is to create more ugc, or user generated content, in the lingo of the biz. therefore while ill review bars and clubs throughout the week - you might have seen my byline this morning in the Sunrise section - readers of the blog would also contribute content to the blog. It's a good idea for the blog to be a conversation between readers and writers, rather than me just a monologue just-sayin.

Just make sure your contributors are better than the crap Sessa brought in. Tim Lumber and the Jayson Blair intern were dark days in Midnight Sun history.

@Trouble Jr. -- I'm with you re: Tim Lumber. But who is/was the Jayson Blair intern? Am I forgetting/missing something?

May be me mis-remembering - thought there was a kid who wrote a teen night post, then the bar owner basically said "No such thing ever happened"

The "Jayson Blair intern" label was just a wisecrack.

Trouble Jr. -- Yeah, he wrote that, but it was true and did happen. So, in all fairness, there was no Jayson Blair-ness. Rhyme time!

Shoot ... then I humbly apologize to the kid.

Aural States used to be the only local music blog with any actual writing on it, but it's been quiet for a few months now.
