Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen toughens up with new band

The two-year-old band The Pretty Reckless played Warped Tour and the V Fest, the British branch of the Virgin Mobile FreeFest.

Rolling Stone.com named the group among the top five breakout bands at this year's Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey.

Yet to most people, lead singer Taylor Momsen is still Jenny Humphrey, doe-eyed ingenue and fictional little sister to one of the "Gossip Girl" hunks.

But the 17-year-old says fans shouldn't expect to see Jenny's school-girl outfits when she plays The Quarter Sunday in support of the band's first album, "Light Me Up."

Though she said the album is inspired by her experience as a child star, it plays like light Joan Jett.

"At this point I've been working since I was 2 years old. I lead a very different life than most people," she said. Asked how she composed her lyrics, the actress scoffed, "I don't feel I need to explain my writing process. It is what it is."

It's still debatable who the band's audience is. Midnight Sun wants to know: Will you be going to see Momsen because you're a "Gossip Girl" fan? Will you go see her at all?

(Not the commenter, the phrase)

What is up with this crap? Social Network soundtrack? Taylor Momsen? Caraway Caraway?

Why do I keep complaining and voicig my dissapointment? Because I still have hope, but its fading fast, and judging by the # of comments on posts recently, I can tell I am not the only one who is upset with the content.

Dear Midnight Sun,
I think it's time we see other people..I mean, you've changed since we first met. Change isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in this case it is. Boy, have we had some times...like that comment I made on tipping..and the one about Ropewalk. 'member those times? When bars and nightlife was discusses and, as the olds say, "bandied about"? It seems you've moved on...I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm cool with music news, local bands etc...I might have not commented but I was down. But this post reeks of cut and paste laziness. And you're obsession with Gucci Mane has become unbearable. We're on separate paths I think.
You went from a mover and shaker blog down to this. And I can't watch anymore.
good luck in all you do. maybe you'll find someone better than me...maybe I'll find a real nightlife blog in Balto. But until then, We'll always have Pickles...
Yours,
MSA

This is Redman signing off.
No Mas...

MSA,

Brilliant, but you're so in trouble. He's gonna paste and hyper-link your a$$ to prove how much 'bar content' he's, uh, written. I just stick around to see the small, but growing, revolt.

Viva La Alcohol!

Momsen's on the blog - as a tease - to highlight content from the print edition. Although, incidentally, tomorrow's Live cover is on Baltimore Beer Week, as is the side story.

Also: Gucci Mane obsession? Stop sipping the 'Hatearade' d00d. Hey-o. Get it? that's a song from the record.

these responses from said writer are starting to sound like a C5 Tatu shill (refer to dining@large).

we all know gucci mane is BANGIN'

Luckily, just as MS is fading, D@L is back and kicking, maybe Go-relic can start picking up the slack and write more about bars and other Food and drink establishment stories. Change Midnight Sun to , "Cut and Paste"

despite the email address, Madisson is not me. There are others on this comp. Thanks for calling me out though. Warning to other posters....
